The breakfast is fantastic and there is a bar in the lobby, a courtyard, a ping pong table and billiards.

Lobby is spacious and there is a bar and meeting and sitting rooms  and game room as well as a restaurant on the first floor.

Very important if you consider all the activities you do during the day.

There’s a pool table and ping pong table and cozy lobby and bar too!

The hotel also packed a lunch bag for our day activities.

They have ping pong table, fuzzball, pool table, checker on the first floor.

The hotel also has a  recreation area with a pool table, a ping pong table and even a soccer table. Excellent.

The lobby, staircase, foyers and a games room is fabulous.

There is also a game room next to the lobby that has a pool table, a ping pong table, and a foosball table.

there is a games room with table tennis and books to swop.

Public spaces are quit large, the lobby, dining area, bar and game room (they do have a pool table, foosball, and ping pong,

They have a very nice game room for the kids.

Garden view room mostly featured neighbor's garage, driveway and other interesting stored contemporary cultural artifacts that were possibly recyclable or landfill items.

I liked that the hotel had a large lobby with a game room, reading area, sitting area, and restaurant.

Enjoyed dinner - squash quinoa risotto was delicious as was the wine.

Breakfast was lovely, lots of options and everything was delicious.

This is a nice hotel in a great area, just 2 blocks back from the main road.

The hotel is in a very convenient location walking distance to the main street and nearby restaurants.

There were street dogs barking all night which made it impossible to sleep.

Opening the windows at night requires ear plugs to sleep largely due to dogs barking.

..barking dogs at all hours, thin walls, hall sounds.

What I didn't like:

Shower pressure was a bit low and water temperature would constantly change from hot to cold. Noise from dogs barking (seems to be a kennel next door?)

The barking stray dogs in the neighborhood will likely keep you up most of the night and if you're lucky not attack you walking to the downtown areas from here.

Alas, we suffered from a different kind of noise with the graden view, and that was because the properties next to the Hotel kept several dogs, who barked most of the time, noisely enough that we had the keep the windows closed the whole time we were there. There is no air conditioning, and the radiators seem to be on most of the day, and your only ventilation is through opening the windows (noise issue !)

but el calafate has many, many stray dogs who barked all night long.

I would choose a room facing the back garden if possible, as the noise of dogs barking and cars and trucks was rather noisy outside out window at night.

Garbage trucks, yahoo tourists racing all night under our windows in muffler-less cars and motor cycles, packs of roving barking dogs, packs of roving barking tourists baying at the moon under our windows at 3:00 am when the bars discharged.

but other than barking dogs we didn't hear a single thing during the nights.

The only problem was that the temperature in my parents room was too warm (in November they couldn't turn off the heat) and there were a lot of dogs barking so opening the windows was rather noisy.

The only downside was that our room faced the backyards of houses with barking dogs.

Only negative is the barking dogs in the area.

El Cal does have a bit of a frontier feel which explains the dogs roaming the streets We were kept awake one night by the local boy racers.

Our only "issue" would be the pack of dogs that lives behind the hotel and would bark incessantly for almost 2 hrs in the late afternoon.

Only problem we had was that there were dogs howling and barking from about 7:30am.

There are some rooms in the back of the hotel that had a problem with a  garbage truck picking up garbage from the dempsty dumpster at midnight and a neighbors constantly barking dog,

My only complaint about the hotel were the dogs barking at night.

though soundproofing is poor, not great for light sleepers.

We did suffer from having a room on the road from the main street which was incredibly noisy - a youth hostel is close by so a lot of noise at 2am and then bins collected at some ungodly hour.

Some noise disturbance in rooms due to design and fabric of the building.

Unfortunately we had a room at the front opposite a "beer and bed" establishment which was very noisy also the traffic seemed extreme for such a small street.

Although the hotel was full of groups, it did not seem noisy.

but get a room in front of hotel which I think wouldn’t be as noisy.

but off the beaten path so it's not loud.

but with the window cracked open the noise from very late night revellers at the hostel opposite woke us several times over night.

It was clean and friendly with very helpful staff.The only problem for us was that the hotel is popular with tour groups, and a very noisy one left early in the morning and disturbed everyone on our floor.

Only minus: noisy during hours that music cafe opposite hotel is open

Doors slamming constantly and noise reverberating throughout hotel.

Although across the street from a youth hostel, noise was not problemsome if windows were closed.

The other reviews about noise are very true, be sure to get a room overlooking the courtyard, not the street.

It is very crowded and noisy for the first hour or so, at least it was on both mornings I was there.

Nice, simple clean hotel with a friendly staff - Not a 4 star for european standards : a 3+ stars - placed near the town centre - good breakfast - not tested the restaurant - good shop inside with hand made goos a really good price

The Hotel Kosten Aike in Calafate is a beautiful Patagonian hotel, with good breakfast included and excellent service, it’s right in the city center, it has a restaurant and a gift shop store.

This hotel is superbly well-located in town within walking distance of many bars, restaurants and local artisanal shops.

There is a souvenir shop in the lobby that has very good prices when compared to shops outside.

We also enjoyed talking to the woman who ran the gift shop and knitted many of the items.

but central and close to all the restaurants and shops.

This hotel is perfectly located a couple blocks from down town, a easy walk to shops and restaurants!

Close to the Main Street with shops and restaurants, so you can walk everywhere.

they also feature a small gift shop. we had 2 rooms, room 305(?)

It was a in great location, within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants on the main street.

This is a lovely hotel with large clean rooms and very well situated in town and near all shops and restaurants.

and the best location, just a walking distance from restaurants, markets, shops, cafes, etc.

The hotel is well located for shops and restaurants.

There is a terrific ice cream shop two blocks down on the main Street.

However, it's very loud when you open the windows, which then impacts your sleep quality.

We had to sleep with the windows wide open whilst it was -5c outside.

but is far enough away to avoid the noise and get a good night's sleep.

This resulted in very little sleep during our stay.

we're from NYC so it has to be pretty bad when a couple of New Yorkers can't go to sleep because of noise!

Do not stay here if you expect any sleep.

We asked to change to a room where we could sleep in the same bed.

There is a downside too:
Rooms in the front are bombarded by loud music from a bar a cross the street, making sleep impossible till past midnight.

The hostel across the street would blast outdoor music past 3 am which would carry into our room and prevent us from sleeping after a long day of trekking.

Our tour group was nearly all placed on the street sides of the hotel, and NO ONE got a good night's sleep.

The room was on the small side, and could have benefitted from some renovations, including new mattresses, as they were uncomfortably soft and we did not sleep well.

Bad sleep due to heat and fact that if we left window open insects came in!!

Breakfast was yummy with lots of homemade items.

Nice and clean rooms, beautiful lake view from the lovely garden and as bonus Frederico demonstrates his cooking talent with delicious dishes at very reasonable prices.

Breakfast was excellent (you can ask for an omelet) and we also had two good dinners there -- ask about their specialties.

Breakfast is rich and variegated, both salty and sweet, with some homemade products as jam, eggs, bread, cakes, yogurt and so on.

I had the lamb, the pasta carbonara and two days worth of lunch boxes and everything was so delicious.

From a delicious homemade breakfast to endless recommendations, Claudia and Federico are such a delight.

We decided to have 2 home cooked meals during our 3 night say and it was delicious and well priced.

My pasta with tomatoes, eggplant and bacon was simply heavenly (and reasonably priced too).

We’ve traveled extensively staying in boutique hotels and bed & breakfasts.

The breakfast is good with homemade breads and Frederico makes great scrambled eggs for a little extra.

We went to see the glacier and Claudia prepared a lunch with snacks that was delicious and plentiful.

Hosts go above and beyond to provide comfort, travel advice, support with arrangements and fine home cooking for breakfast and dinner.

Homemade food, prepared by Federico (watch him clip the fresh herbs from his garden) was delicious and healthy.

The evening meals prepared by Frederico who is Italian by birth were delicious.

Breakfast was also fairly varied for the type of accommodation.

Provides excellent breakfasts and evening meals, excellent value, will arrange taxis and tour pickups.

One downside was that upon our departure we were requested to pay in cash.

6) You can pay for the room in cash using US dollars.

Lastly, while you secure your room with a credit card the owners want to be paid in cash which was a surprise for us that involved a couple visits to the ATM at the last minute.

A weaker point in my opinion : you have to pay in cash.

Claudia & Federico showed me to a very comfortable room - great bed, hot shower, spacious room and strong wifi.

The rooms are very comfortable and serviced each day.

but for a very reasonable price you get a super clean, comfortable room, good breakfast and very good service.

Rooms were comfortable, including the beds and bathrooms and prices were very reasonable.

It was central, room was comfortable & quiet and owners really friendly.

We had a comfortable room on the upper floor.

The rooms are comfortable and spacious, clean, and the bathrooms had wonderful hot, powerful showers - even hair dryers were provided!

As we pulled away on a tour bus to head to the glacier, a lady from Boston remarked on the beautiful garden, and said she wished she'd booked a smaller place instead of staying in a large hotel.

And I almost forget to mention the wonderful peaceful garden with a magnificent view on the ‘Lago Argentino’.

The breakfast/dining room looked out on a lovely garden.

If you're lucky enough to be there in the summer, the flowers in the front garden are gorgeous.

There is a garden at the rear of the property which has a few seats should you want to relax outdoors.

Just a bit of feedback about El Calafate in general: there are many dogs who like to bark at all hours.

The only issue was with some dogs barking on the road outside at night

There are a ton of dogs around El Calafate particularly farther out where this B&B is located and you can hear everyone howling and barking at night at Posada Karut Josh, not to mention the coming and goings of your neighbors as they enter and exit their rooms.

The only noise we noticed occasionally, was from the neighbors dogs barking.

They had barking sessions at different times night and day.

The hosts are excellent cooks and we ate in both nights we were here.

Claudia and Federico were the most wonderful hosts.

The hosts were wonderful - we exchanged several emails starting few month before my trip, and information was very helpful,  they also helped to organize private taxi for us to Perito Moreno, so we could get most of our time, they also let us store luggage and use internet (very important when you have complex schedule and need to make some arrangements) and recharge our laptops and camera batteries while we were waiting for our next bus.

We weren't feeling well when we arrived at Posada Karut Josh, and hosts Carolina and Federico could not have been nicer or more helpful.

Claudia and Frederico were wonderful hosts and looked after us very well.

This place is close to town, the room is cosy and the hosts and breakfasts delightful.

Claudia and Federico are very caring hosts who work extremely hard to provide clean, quiet accommodations.

Filling a basin or the tube you will notice black flecks.

but I also never commented on was the bathroom.

It’s disappointment was with the moldy shower and the WiFi that never worked.

but rather average: rooms are small, missing features, paint is coming down from the ceiling in our bathroom, and you can hear through the wall when your neighbor goes to the toilet.

but a public children swimming pool could not swim had to put up with screaming 6 and 8 month old in the shower and avoid the 6 year old jumping all over me 
My husband wanted to sit by the pool and was rudely thrown out by a worker , went to the bar where they did not recognize his welcome drink 
We asked for an hour late check out and did not get it 
It is a place for massive tour companies they have no customer service

They overcharged me (charged me for services additional to the massage they didn’t offer me); didn’t give me the full time; and gave me a rub rather than the deep tissue I requested.

), in the rooms no bath robes (and neither in the spa).

The amenities in bathroom were very poor.

Our only complaint about the room itself is a tub shower that is very slippery despite some anti-slip additions.

.a pet peeve of mine was not the best and the tub shower was not the strongest .

but a definite sewage smell coming from the bathroom (you get used to it).

The bathroom was small and cramped with no hooks to hang things.

Room 385 has a very strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom drain.

However, the bathrooms look like they belong in a hostel.

The decor is grandma chic, heavy rose patterned curtains and flowery bathrooms, all in desperate need of refurbishment.

Bathroom amenities are terrible, not even lotion is included.

The bathroom tiny, shower in the bath, and the toilet sewage had a very bad smell.

This is a beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms, excellent service with friendly staff, great breakfast and really enjoyed my stay here.

Breakfast is pretty standard with an omelette station if you can find the chef.

I was able to go get breakfast, which was incredible and I took full advantage of every day.

The restaurant including breakfast is in a nice complex across the street.

Nice rooms, good breakfast, nice pool with somewhat run down spa area.

Breakfast buffets were at the La Posta restaurant in the sport complex across the street.

Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice across a large buffet.
