I specifically wanted this Premier Inn to be near Clarence Pier and the Hovercraft Terminal.

Although our 1st floor room (114) was facing the sea, we needed to be tall to see above the entrance to Clarence Pier.

Couldn’t believe how quiet it was in spite of close proximity of Clarence Pier.

Very good location next to brewers fayre  and usual seaside attractions hover to ilse  of Wight day trips next to Clarence pier which is closed at moment and a small fun fair parking maybe a issue they have a underground car park

The location of the hotel is excellent, right beside Clarence Pier, so you have the funfair and the sea on your door step which is great for the kids.

Located right on the seafront (well, behind the Clarence Pier funfair), it is what you would expect from a Premier Inn.

The Southsea Premier Inn is convenient for the hovercraft and Clarence Pier,

This hotel is fantastically situated right next to Clarence pier & within a lovely stroll to Southsea in one direction and Portsmouth in the other.

but busy Clarence Pier with Arcades and Fun fair rides - luckily these close at 8pm so it's quiet after that.

On site there is an attached Brewers Fayre Clarence Pier for which I have done a separate review.

The hotel backs onto Clarence pier with fairground rides, amusements and crazy golf.

Conveniently situated next to the seafront at Clarence pier and a small fairground, which closes around 9pm.

The hotel is on the front by the Clarence Pier amusements.

although the hotel was situated right alongside Clarence pier fun fair , it was extremely quiet.

The hotel is located right on the seafront next to the Clarence Pier at Southsea and offers a huge range of walks and seats in the surrounding area.

This hotel is in a great location right on seafront at Clarence Pier, a 10 minute walk into Southsea for bars and restaurants, or about 20 mins in other direction to Gunwharf Quay along seafront.

The hotel is right next to the Clarence Pier fun fair,

Behind that hotel is Clarence Pier and the fun fair and amusement arcades on it.

as well as having Clarence pier on your doorstep if you fancy a go on the fair rides, amusments, great fish and chips and a proper good old café called the big wheel for an excellent cheap breakfast fry up, 
Staff are welcoming and friendly, rooms are clean modern and comfortable and good value for money.

Lovely clean and comfortable rooms friendly helpful staff in ideal location for fun fair and arcades and 5 minutes walk from the hoverport for a quick trip to the Isle of Wight would definitely recommend

The room was as nice,clean and comfortable as we have come to expect from Premier Inn and the staff were fabulous!

On the positive side, bed was comfortable and good shower.

But it is a good hotel very comfy beds and very centrally located for Southsea sea front and Old Portsmouth.

Bed not as comfy as Premier’s usually are.

We recently stayed in the Southsea Premier Inn and had a very comfortable stay.

Rooms are great, beds comfortable, clean, safe, great customer service, food in Pub as expected and great value.

We had booked this Hotel fir a single night to attend a reunion function in the nearby Historic Dockyard.

Located outskirts of Portsmouth within easy walking distance of Old Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard.

We booked this Premier Inn for a family weekend to go to the Historic Dockyard.

There is convenient bus transportation from the area to the rail station and the Historic Dockyard

It was good to visit the local attractions such as the Historic Dockyard and the DDay Museum/

Location perfect for visiting the Mary Rose and Historic Dockyard.

this is a good location for a walk to the Historic Dockyard

Good value budget hotel, perfect for visiting Portsmouth Historic Harbour.

The location was perfect for our 2 visits to the Historic Dockyards.

We enjoy this little gem by the sea, great for walking up to Gunwarf Quays and the Spinny, Historic ships a little further.

Chose this hotel when re-visiting Historic Dockyards - can walk along seafront to Gunwharf Quays and Old Portsmouth, and also into Southsea in the other direction and visit the D-Day Museum and Southsea Castle.

Well located for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Will be going back later in the year to finish our Historic Dockyard visit

Good location, walking distance of brilliant sights, Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quay, Historic Dockyard and adjacent to hovercraft departure for Isle of Wight.

For those visiting Gunwharf or Historic Dockyard the Hotel is ideally located.

This premier inn in southsea is next door to Clarence
Pier amusements and the hover craft also the hover bus takes you into portsmouth and drops you off outside the Historic Dockyard .

Great location, we could walk everywhere from this hotel.

Its in a brill location for a weekend away.

The location was good as it was in walking distance on the town centre and gun wharf Quay.

Stay here whenever we come to Portsmouth, hotel is in a terrific location only a 15 min walk to the Gunwharf shopping area.

Stayed at Southsea Premier Inn for convenient location, parking facilities, ease of use for local transport, pub underneath.

Premier Inn Southsea is the perfect location for visiting both Southsea and Portsmouth.

Noise at night was relatively quiet for the location.

No bells and whistles - decent location for most items in Portsmouth.

Great location with great parking next to it priced at £5 per 24hrs.

Room was not cleaned and replenished daily breakfast was appalling cleanliness of restaurant very poor.

The only thing to watch out for is the parking which is now very poor and expensive.

The breakfast room in the linked restaurant was a rather sad affair, firstly it looks like it's about to close, upkeep was very poor.

The view was very poor (in fact we did not have view at all as if we in prison)!!! 3.

but room we stayed in had very poor natural light do even during the middle of a sunny day all the lights had to be switched on to see properly in the room.

Unfortunately the bed was poor, moved and creaked, so did not get a good night sleep at all.

The Brewers Fayre restaurant attached to the hotel was poor and the staff need some training, confusion with the meal deal I purchased, added to the system of ordering our food changing from one day to the next (which seemed to be my fault in the eyes of the staff.

The only drawback was the poor quality toilet tissue

but this is through a short corridor so you are dry/warm if a poor day.

The tv was a little on the small side and has very poor only one light on the celling bar that it’s a good place to stay for me close to the Channel boat back to jersey

The only complaint is that the Brewers Fayer attached is pretty poor.

though beware of poor signage to entrance which meant we missed it first time and had to do a U-turn to get back to it.

Very poor room, definitely not worth the price.

The standard is poor and for the price, I feel like I've been taken advantage of.

I'd avoided staying here before when I've come to Portsmouth as I'd seen some poor reviews of this hotel and the Brewers Fayre in the past,

Sat down at table and got my hands covered in something from the outside table and chairs, Screens protecting outside area from weather very dirty and poor condition.

The lady behind the desk of the hotel was very nice and helpful and our room was clean and perfect for a nights stay,

The room was very clean, very comfortable, of a good size with plenty of room, nice bathroom, good sized TV free WiFi, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Upon arrival parked in the car park and went to check in, there was a premier inn member of staff sat on the wall out the front who was smoking or chilling out, didn’t really pay too much attention.

The car park was absolutely filthy with loads of litter, especially cigarette ends.

however, that can not be said for the pavement area immediately outside its front entrance which was literally littered with dozens of discarded cigarette ends which, together with the revolting smell these generated, made entry to and exit from the hotel a truly disgusting experience.

butts and the screens so grimy you couldn't see the sea through them.

And the corridor linking the hotel to the pub had a very strange smell.

Following a walk to Gunwharf Quays and stopping off at pubs in Old Portsmouth we did decide to eat in the Brewers Fayre, which was the only downside of the trip.. overwhelming smell of sewage.

but were able to get extra from the reception All food needs met so we didn’t have to travel out again on a disgusting December eveningFree parking though was limited

but the inconsiderate guest before us who obviously took no notice of the no smoking sign.

The only drawback was a damp, drainy smell in the bathroom which we mentioned to reception.

On arrival there was an overpowering smell of bleach

but we only used the room for preparing before going out to a Burns’ Supper and sleeping, so the view didn’t really matter.

The room my colleague stayed smelled of wet dog, quite nasty.

You order the breakfast instead of helping yourself and I found my scrambled eggs / mushrooms were quite watery so left water residue on plate.

The lamp shades were covered in dust and the bin by the coffee machine was filthy.

even though the fella on desk was a lovely chap

The staff here can not do enough to help you, every single one is lovely.

Lovely reception ladies big smiles and full of useful information.

but very clean inside and staff were more than welcoming the car parking facilities were very reasonably priced and staff explained the Payment on exit very well.

Soap, shower gel, shampoo and towels were provided and there was a tray with electric kettle, sachets for drinks, long life milk and plastic glasses.

The bathroom left much to be desired with very loose taps & did not smell pleasant on arrival.

This required you to kneel in the bath if you wished to shower.

Only downside the shower was in the bath Ona slanted wall so
Had to sit in the bath to have a shower.

We were in room 15 ground floor for 2 nights and found the bedroom was fine, en-suite bathroom dirty and dusty, skirting board coming away from wall and such a tiny space that we found it difficult to get in and out of the shower with no space to manoeuvre.

Not very quiet during the night due to a nearby shared bathroom.

Old property, a lot of noises from next door bathroom- hence no sense of privacy and lack of comfort, maybe OK for one night if you are planing to leave before everyone wakes up and disturbs your rest. .

Drawbacks:
Noisy lavatory mechanism in all the rooms adjacent and thin walls so could hèar neighbours talking.

Spent the night with my girlfriend, just needed a place to sleep and shower.

although shower and toilet wasn't in the room.

Although my room was compact, it had an en-suite toilet and a shower.

The toilets were vile and doors hanging off.

I thought shared bathrooms was a thing of the past

The walls are a bit thin and the sink is tiny

On the second night we had problems with a leak in the bathroom and it was cleared, cleaned and fixed in no time.

Unfortunately this had a bath with shower over it

Worse point of all toilet seat has bad brown stain all way round it.

The width of the bathroom, amounts to 32inches and whilst using the WC your left leg will be rammed up against the basin.. You also need to duck your head whilst trying to get round the bottom of the bed and the telly which is on the wall.. Would we stay there again? NEVER!

The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in every other room, snoring, toilet flushing, TV, conversations.

Very friendly and nicer than a typical travel lodge and quieter than a pub.

This is basic accommodation centrally located for access to Gun Wharf, Portsmouth and Southsea.

The staff is always helpful the hotel is in a good location.

We liked the hotels position a couple of hundred yards from the seafront and fairly near the historic dockyard and Gun Wharf outlet village.

Chose this hotel because of the convenient location close to Gunwarf Quays.

Location was fantastic as it was in close proximity of old Portsmouth.

Location is perfect, round the corner to the IOW ferry, round 2 corners to the Spinnaker, Mary Rose etc.

Great location near to the Isle of Wight ferry and easy parking, with permit provided - we can highly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

I have to travel to isle of wight so it was just 3 min walk from ferry pickup location, 5 min walk from town centre.

Very efficient receptionist; once I'd checked in she loaned me a resident's parking permit for the duration of my stay.

but you do get a parking permit so it’s free parking very small basin in bathroom if you have a en suite nice young lady behind reception she had a nice smile and very polite overall a very nice stay would stay again

Parking is on the street and  free with a permit from the hotel.

Along with the room came a parking permit and they Kindly allowed us to keep it until 3pm on the day of departure.

Parking permit availability on check in and easy to use.

It was extremely helpful to be issued with a parking permit which allowed us to park outside the pub or in the surrounding area which made it very convenient.
