If you choose to stay here, do the breakfasts!

We ate at the Boat each night and the food was delish, again the staff were brilliant will defo stay again

but didn’t mention where to go for bar/restaurant, breakfast etc We plan to return as a larger group in April to celebrate my dads 70th Birthday.

Breakfast was cooked to order and there are also cereal and toast options.

Breakfast and meals are excellent and have improved a lot since Dean and Magda took over.

Breakfast was pleasant with several options and a nice buffet.

Whilst I did not sample the breakfast, I ate in the restaurant on two evenings, both meals were well presented, tasty and filling.

Breakfast again mixed - Scottish breakfast great, eggs benedict really underdone so not eaten.

Large, clean, room with a huge bath & a view over the railway station ( De luxe room) 
Breakfast was very good and we ate in hotel both nights we stayed.

We moved to a bigger room with slightly better power in shower 
Good breakfast - half buffet with server selection of cooked dishes

The food was delicious, the staff friendly and the decor warm and welcoming and our room was modern and very clean.

We had lunch at the Boat, it was delicious.

Booked in for 3 night Hogmanay break, we chose a suite with a four poster and a roll top bath.

All staff friendly and helpful, food was great and plentiful.

At breakfast there was a separate spacious room set up for those eating with their dogs present.

Lovely, friendly hotel a few miles outside of Aviemore.

Staff were very helpful and friendly and extremely hard-working, given the tough staffing situation the hospitality sector is currently in.

We had an issue with very poor shower power in our first room and I asked if we could move - they were very accommodating.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful, food was very good and great quality.

Lovely inn to return to after a long walk, log fires, tasty food and friendly staff.

We were left feeling ashamed that Scotland could offer such poor hospitality, below average food at inflated prices and treat tourists from around the world with such surly indifference.

The milk was off and with only two members of staff on, the poor girl on duty got terribly flustered not surprisingly as it was her responsibility to change it which meant cleaning out the now- working coffee machine as well.

I really like this place and because they do not overcharge it makes a lot of other places in Scotland seem very poor value.

Only slight downfall was Wifi was poor in the room

Shower pressure poor, not enough seating in lounge to have a drink from bar.

Lighting poor and insufficient for applying makeup and hair care.

Overall a poor experience and one I would not repeat.

Unfortunately we had a very poor experience at this hotel, we were looking forward to our first break for 2 years, we paid for three nights in a deluxe room which according to the brochure was a sumptuous room.

I once again commented on the very poor cleaning.

however the shower pressure was very poor.

but very poor shower pressure, more like a trickle.

The shower pressure was non existent so showering was very poor.

My mother was here on a working holiday,so this proved a big problem for us, where she ended up having to take 2 days unpaid holiday as signal was too poor to even connect to our data hotspot on phones.

but veg were like bullets, my wife had cheese cake but could not eat it as it was so poor.

Food was not amazing and the service poor.

Breakfast on the Saturday was poor, we waited 1 hour for the cooked stuff to be served, our mugs were chipped & we had to ask for more drinks and were served the crusts of the loaf of bread toasted.

Value for money was poor and overall I would not return nor recommend this hotel.

but we essentially had pub food at restaurant prices.

The worst thing, we had to pay £17.95 for these below average mains and service charge on top of everything.

Price for 'bar' food and drinks expensive.

but the drinks overpriced - clearly like the other hotels we visited, the proprietors are taking advantage of the reduced vat rate and trying to make up for lost revenue during the pandemic.

The offer we took cost us £345 which was supposed to save us 20%, if the real cost of our stay was £414, the hotel is delusional as to its worth.

but on paying we discovered we had been charged - disappointing 

This hotel is well situated and obviously very popular so we were obviously not high on their priority 

I'd agree with others when they say food is overpriced.

but she understood we couldn’t stay in our current room so she’d managed to contact another hotel in Carrbridge to book us in there for the remainder of the week (she advised it was slightly cheaper than the Boat hotel and looked nice).

however, we were shocked at the price of a bowl of nachos - £15!

We can’t wrap our heads around why you would make this “USE THE APP OR YOU GET NOTHING” rule other than you paid a lot of money for the app and by god damn you’ll get use out of it.

We stayed in 5 hotels over our trip and this was the most expensive by a distance.

The time before we visited, with same amount in the room and they each had single beds, which in my opinion is in line with the prices that are being charged

Also the WIFI was down which we weren't told about prior to arriving or until we raised it with reception.

We had not been advised their systems were down and the attitude when we said we had to pay by cash was as if it was our  fault.

but breakfast looked and tasted cheap, with the croissant being especially disappointing, and as mentioned by another reviewer, mugs brought to the table with hot water and teabags rather than a simple pot of tea being provided.

though if they stated it was a smaller menu for DBB and only 2 courses offered so had to pay for a desert.

Price -  the price of the hotel is ridiculously low for what you are getting.

but, in my opinion, overpriced if you were not on the DBB deal.

That's great if, like us, there was something on the menu you liked,

although we were there just for teat the lunches that were coming out to the other guests looked great!

The food is really excellent quality, and portions are generous.

however I’m amazed you allow large dogs into the restaurant.

The evening meal was one of the worst we have ever had, and we are happy with anything from The Three Chimneys on Skye to Platform 8 in Inverness, as long as the food is cooked OK.

It’s surprisingly busy if you want to eat in.

Nice breakfast which was pre booked, good selection of home cooked pub food for evening meal and nice cosy country Inn decor.

The food is well cooked and the drinks menu is more than adequate.

We had booked dinner ( and booked breakfast when we checked in) the food was good.

Starters were excellent and food quality was good,

Advised in advance that we were both vegan and got a few options for dinner - food was really good.

The restaurant evening meal was mixed - steak was excellent

Restaurant also dog friendly, with great food.

The food was excellent, I can heartily recommend the cullen skink !

Tried the food in there bar which we found to be very good, breakfast the next morning was also excellent.

Lovely stay, nice clean room, we were in a garden room, which had a terrace area.

Service was good and Room was clean modern and comfy, and we had a great nights sleep Breakfast in the morning was ok

The rooms were clean and very comfortable.

The room was clean and had a really nice view too.

Beds and extremely comfy, rooms have been spotless and the staff have been excellent.

All public areas and rooms are spotlessly clean, fresh and many seem newly decorated.

Room clean, and with the right room you get a lovely view over the Cairngorms.

Staff super, room very clean, modern and fully functional, breakfast good and system of service under current restrictions excellent.

I can't fault either the staff or the service and I'd happily go back if we were in the area again.

Great service as well by the reception staff and restaurant staff.

lady at art shop across road allowed us to park in the evenings, very kind.

Staff were superb, especially Rachel who had a great knowledge of whisky.

Staff were generally good, check in just directed us to the stairs

This is a very clean hotel with extremely pleasant and hard-working staff.

On arrival the fire was on and the staff were very welcoming.

The staff were all really nice and helpful though, maybe just not enough of them?

The food served for dinner was plentiful and very tasty (with warm plates for hot meals).

The food at breakfast and at the afternoon meal was excellent with a wide range of choice.

The breakfast buffet is plentiful with lots of choice and dinner was superb on both evenings with plenty of menu options.

Breakfast was also included in our booking and it was a fab selection to choose from

-the room was fantastic - lovely, clean and spacious, great views of the gardens.

The food was superb, both at supper and breakfast.

We were able to take our dog with us and she was allowed to have breakfast with us in the lounge rather than the main restaurant where she wasn't allowed.

Breakfast was good, the usual offerings, all self service from a buffet, 

Food, breakfast great choice, evening meal selection amazing (please see our separate reviews) Couldn’t say what lunch was like as never their for that meal lol

As you can probably guess by the length of this review we had a brilliant time and will return, just to see Chris and his new foyer carpet lol

The chef would even prepare fresh omelette and eggs.

The breakfast food itself was absolutely fine and the staff were lovely.

Breakfast was well done, both table service and buffet self-service.

Generous portions, brilliantly presented and delicious.

Had a marvellous stay with the family and the dog food was out of this world also great  spread at breakfast staff very friendly and helpful also made our dog feel right at home rooms very clean with all that you need including comfy beds would not hesitate to stay here again very soon

My children were very hungry and both ate 3 courses and said it was delicious.

Breakfast was included in our stay , there was an excellent choice.

but everyone was friendly and helpful, with special mention to Maureen in the breakfast room .

Yes the  corridors need a lick of paint and a new carpet

The carpet was peeling back in the room we stayed in and a new strip just thrown on it.

He has in fact purchased some new carpets, received paint and is waiting on some tradespeople to carry out the work,

though it was recently refurbished and was smart in comparison to the rest of the hotel which was scuffs and marks and ripped carpets.

The paint is peeling of windows and walls, the carpet is threadbare and there are places on the hallway it feels like you are going to put your foot through the floor.

The hotel is a little run down with some rotting exterior woodwork and threadbare carpets.

The carpet in my room had flakes of paint all over it.

We got to our room on the first floor through a corridor that felt like the floor was non existent below the carpet.

A little spruce up, of carpets and some fittings,would make this hotel even better

The carpet in the room got really dirty after a few days, this was explained that they’d only do the minimum in the room, and that bedding wouldn’t be changed, we were fine with this,

My wife and I were not happy with the room, bad flooring, old carpets, food very slow and below average.

The carpets are shredded and my wife tore her skirt coming down the stairs with the rough broken staircase.

When you walk from the reception to your room, you go through corridors with old carpets, stains every where, mouldy smell, walls with scratches.

Although the hotel is obviously a little tired in places ie carpets etc.

The carpets worn and had stretched with the amount of use.

but so classic and it comes with the creeks and old carpets.

For the rest (apart from the attractive exterior) the hotel is of the lowest level: stale smell everywhere, unmentionable carpets, dirty room, bathroom without shower (only bathtub with fetid curtain), detached tiles and silicone, moisture stains everywhere and I could continue for hours.

Public area carpets tripped my wife twice.

Plenty of old world charm like creaky floorboards, frayed carpets, chipped stairs.

It also shows that the carpets were new at some point.

All the staff we met were most helpful and very friendly.

but well cooked food at a reasonable price and friendly staff.

Super friendly staff (eg they happily sent back to me a coat I had left there) -

Great wedding location, lovely meal and very accommodating team / venue supporting child friendly wedding.

The staff are one of the hotel’s greatest assets, they were all so friendly and welcoming, particularly those working on reception, the restaurant and bar that I had the pleasure to meet.

-All the staff are so welcoming and friendly, so accommodating and nothing is too much trouble

-Food is honestly fantastic, we had our dinner and then our wedding menu tasting (highly recommend the steak, and white chocolate Raspberry cheesecake!).

Booking in was fast and friendly, the welcome lounge had a real log fire burning, nice.

The barman (apologies as I didn't get your name) was friendly and welcoming.

Also Daniel in the bar for being so friendly, helpful and taking time to chat.

Some of the staff weren’t friendly until we met our host, Daniel.

Staff all very friendly, from staff in training through to bar staff, waiting staff and reception - a more welcoming group of people you could not wish for.

They are so welcoming, friendly, professional and manage to make every guest feel special.

The food was excellent, from the large menu choice to the presentation and the friendly efficient service.

What a joy to walk through the doors of this hotel and to be met by 2 friendly staff members .

The hotel is lovely,  the staff were excellent,  so friendly.

We had dinner each night which was substantial and well cooked, the waiting staff were friendly and helpful.

Our room was a superior with a garden view and met all our needs.

There are beautiful gardens across the road with distant views of the the snow capped mountains.

We stayed in the four poster room and also had a superior room with garden view.

Just return from a midweek break from this lovely hotel ,staff superb was given a lovely room 116 garden view at front of hotel thanks to the lovely Chloe at reception

The hotel is majestic and the gardens are pristine.

The view over the front garden was really lovely.

There are also beautiful gardens out front.

Large comfortable room with a fantastic view of the gardens, light and airy, great nights' sleep.

Our rooms were spacious and well equipped, our room overlooked the gardens and had a bay window which gave plenty of light.

Had a fantastic room overlooking the gardens, comfortable and spotlessly clean.

My room was warm and comfortable, the bathroom was spotless and I had a lovely views across to the gardens.

Views from the room were over the gardens which were well kept despite it being winter.

The room we had was lovely and looked out front to the nice garden.

though it’s on a nice big garden estate - it isn’t.

We utilised the gardens and a majority of the areas of the hotel, again this was all done in an organised and smooth manner.

There is a great beer garden set up outside the bar.

The buildings public areas and hallways are dated and in need of some attention,

The main stairs and some of the hallways need some attention too

We used the lift on arrival which meant going down a corridor with some questionable piping bent over the ceiling and exhausted carpets.

The corridors were quite shabby and the lounge and dining room needed refurbishment.

The corridors and stairways are in need of a refurb, which I believe is forthcoming,

Dirty hall ways - shabby room lights not working in the room - accidents did happen - beware!

We walked down a long hallway past rooms with  open doors that were full of construction equipment and supplies (those doors should be shut).

Room 6 is on the ground floor and is on a very busy corridor from the function suite/ reception to the lift and consequently many of the bedrooms.

Some of the vast corridors could be smartened up, though.

We got told we had to wait for our meal as the dining hall was full.

although I still think it would be difficult to navigate around the narrow corridors.

As for  the room and bathroom, they  have clearly been upgraded recently, and are in contrast to the hallways and general areas which looked a little tired.

The carpets looked very tired inside the room and in the corridor.

We chose Nethybridge for the fantastic Highland Games (first since COVID hit).

The hotel’s location is both peaceful and stunning and is a perfect base for touring the Highlands of Scotland.

We have enjoyed Highland hospitality at its best at Nethybridge Hotel for many years.

Would definitely recommend for a short break in this beautiful part of the Highlands

We stayed here overnight on the return leg of our highlands visit.

however to us this is true Highland Hospitality at it's best in a grand old building bearing marks of history and ageing gracefully.

We had a cracking stay at Nethybridge Hotel, it was a Groupon gift from the family, Sparkling Wine and Coffee and Biscuits on arrival staying in one of there Superior Double Rooms with a welcome pack of Water, Crisps and Chocolate, there was also great choice at the Buffet Breakfast in the morning, the staff were fantastic and nothing was to much bother, all this in the Highlands of Scotland at a cracking price as a bonus.

These were okay as they arrived late in the main and left straight after breakfast – clearly a much-needed lifeline for such a large hotel in a remote Highland village.

We have just visited this quaint hotel in the Highlands for a break with our newborn daughter and sons.
