Accommodation is simply exceptional with impeccable attention to detail.

From bath milk to sleep spray to organic teas and little vegan chocolates by the bed, it felt like James and Stuart had gone above and beyond to provide a slice of heaven in the Cairngorms.

The rooms have lovely touches like a pillow spray & homemade shortbread, mini fridge with fresh milk and water.

Everything was immaculate and all the amenities you could need - even pillow spray to help you sleep!

A small fridge with fresh milk and a bottle of water, little chocolates and home-made shortbread, sleep kits with eye masks and ear-plugs as well as pillow spray, slippers and robes, and a fully stocked bathroom which even includes bath salts for the wonderfully deep claw-foot bath.

On top of the excellent hosting, it was those extra little things: delicious home-made shortbread in the room; a wee bottle of fresh milk for tea & coffee in the room; top quality mint chocolates and lavender pillow spray for bed time; good recommendations for the the loveliest places to walk in the area.

They've thought of everything from providing more luxury items than the usual, such as sleep spray, to baking homemade shortbread for every guest!

Stuart and James are fabulous hosts, we never seemed to stop chatting and laughing with them, I'm sure we were holding them up from serving others, for which i apologise,

The room has everything you need, very Confía bed, fridge, ice, cafe, it even has a sleeping spray.

We stayed in the Findhorn room and they’ve truly thought of every detail - the homemade shortbread & milk, relaxing sleep spray, and high end bath amenities provided the perfect combination of staying in someone’s beautiful home as well as a luxury hotel.

With the soothing and aromatic scent of lavender spray provided in a basket of goodies containing other thoughtful sleep aids such as eye masks and luxury chocolate & peppermint

There is a coffee machine, fridge in every room, robes, slippers and even sleep masks and pillow spray provided to ensure you have a good night sleep.

Fresh milk is provided in miniature milk bottles for your fridge, coffee pods are available for the in room machine, indulgent sleep inducing pillow sprays and chocolates are placed next to the bed and even fleshcoloured make up removing flannels provided to avoid guest embarrassment of leaving mascara marks on the white fluffy alternatives.

Beside the bed is a little sleep kit, with pillow spray, chocolates and everything else you might need for a great nights sleep.

So many thoughtful amenities in-room exceeded expectations, like a coffee pod machine, sleep scent spray and convenient USB charging points bedside.

The little touches were very evident such a wee dram of whisky, sleep masks, sleep spray,robes and slippers.

We stayed in the Skye room and loved it with some lovely touches to enhance the luxury provided.

The room was gorgeous and  extremely comfortable with lots of lovely little extra touches.

We can highly recommend a stay at Firhall, if you want a touch of luxury in a fantastic location with wonderful hosts and amazing food, you've found it!

The Firhall is a great place to stay, a handsome stone property with original features, and lots of stylish design touches by the owners.

They are such friendly and warm hosts and the standard of rooms and decor is second to none, with lots of little touches that add to your experience.

The tasteful decor, luxury linens and quirky little touches that are so well thought out haven't changed and nor has the welcome you'll recieve.

We loved all the little touches that made our weekend trip so special.

We ate at the Boat each night and the food was delish, again the staff were brilliant will defo stay again

but didn’t mention where to go for bar/restaurant, breakfast etc We plan to return as a larger group in April to celebrate my dads 70th Birthday.

Breakfast was cooked to order and there are also cereal and toast options.

Breakfast and meals are excellent and have improved a lot since Dean and Magda took over.

Breakfast was pleasant with several options and a nice buffet.

Whilst I did not sample the breakfast, I ate in the restaurant on two evenings, both meals were well presented, tasty and filling.

Breakfast again mixed - Scottish breakfast great, eggs benedict really underdone so not eaten.

We moved to a bigger room with slightly better power in shower

The food was delicious, the staff friendly and the decor warm and welcoming and our room was modern and very clean.

We had lunch at the Boat, it was delicious.

Booked in for 3 night Hogmanay break, we chose a suite with a four poster and a roll top bath.

All staff friendly and helpful, food was great and plentiful.

At breakfast there was a separate spacious room set up for those eating with their dogs present.

We were left feeling ashamed that Scotland could offer such poor hospitality, below average food at inflated prices and treat tourists from around the world with such surly indifference.

The milk was off and with only two members of staff on, the poor girl on duty got terribly flustered not surprisingly as it was her responsibility to change it which meant cleaning out the now- working coffee machine as well.

I really like this place and because they do not overcharge it makes a lot of other places in Scotland seem very poor value.

Only slight downfall was Wifi was poor in the room

Shower pressure poor, not enough seating in lounge to have a drink from bar.

Lighting poor and insufficient for applying makeup and hair care.

Overall a poor experience and one I would not repeat.

Unfortunately we had a very poor experience at this hotel, we were looking forward to our first break for 2 years, we paid for three nights in a deluxe room which according to the brochure was a sumptuous room.

I once again commented on the very poor cleaning.

however the shower pressure was very poor.

but very poor shower pressure, more like a trickle.

The shower pressure was non existent so showering was very poor.

My mother was here on a working holiday,so this proved a big problem for us, where she ended up having to take 2 days unpaid holiday as signal was too poor to even connect to our data hotspot on phones.

but veg were like bullets, my wife had cheese cake but could not eat it as it was so poor.

Food was not amazing and the service poor.

Breakfast on the Saturday was poor, we waited 1 hour for the cooked stuff to be served, our mugs were chipped & we had to ask for more drinks and were served the crusts of the loaf of bread toasted.

Value for money was poor and overall I would not return nor recommend this hotel.

but we essentially had pub food at restaurant prices.

The worst thing, we had to pay £17.95 for these below average mains and service charge on top of everything.

Price for 'bar' food and drinks expensive.

but the drinks overpriced - clearly like the other hotels we visited, the proprietors are taking advantage of the reduced vat rate and trying to make up for lost revenue during the pandemic.

The offer we took cost us £345 which was supposed to save us 20%, if the real cost of our stay was £414, the hotel is delusional as to its worth.

but on paying we discovered we had been charged - disappointing 

This hotel is well situated and obviously very popular so we were obviously not high on their priority 

I'd agree with others when they say food is overpriced.

but she understood we couldn’t stay in our current room so she’d managed to contact another hotel in Carrbridge to book us in there for the remainder of the week (she advised it was slightly cheaper than the Boat hotel and looked nice).

however, we were shocked at the price of a bowl of nachos - £15!

We can’t wrap our heads around why you would make this “USE THE APP OR YOU GET NOTHING” rule other than you paid a lot of money for the app and by god damn you’ll get use out of it.

We stayed in 5 hotels over our trip and this was the most expensive by a distance.

The time before we visited, with same amount in the room and they each had single beds, which in my opinion is in line with the prices that are being charged

Also the WIFI was down which we weren't told about prior to arriving or until we raised it with reception.

We had not been advised their systems were down and the attitude when we said we had to pay by cash was as if it was our  fault.

but breakfast looked and tasted cheap, with the croissant being especially disappointing, and as mentioned by another reviewer, mugs brought to the table with hot water and teabags rather than a simple pot of tea being provided.

though if they stated it was a smaller menu for DBB and only 2 courses offered so had to pay for a desert.

Price -  the price of the hotel is ridiculously low for what you are getting.

but, in my opinion, overpriced if you were not on the DBB deal.

The breakfast was delicious and well catered for GF and DF.

Breakfast is amazing - great quality, very tasty, and served with a smile.

Great whiskey selection, and a super breakfast, with a wide choice for guests.

Would highly recommend the afternoon tea and the breakfast was delicious.

So welcoming and friendly and the breakfasts are great - freshly cooked to order from a great choice.

We will return again next year, thanks for everything and a fab breakfast in the morning too..
Everything you want in a lovely idyllic country setting.

The kipper was perfect and my companion's bacon was delicious (yes, I had to check it out).

Breakfast was excellent also with a great choice and hearty portions.

The breakfast is 5 star and we had 2 nights with evening meals which were superb - everything beautifully cooked to perfection.

The room was immaculate and gorgeous, our little dog was welcomed and adored running around the lovely gardens and the breakfasts were truly worth writing home about.

Incredible room, so much charm and history everywhere you looked, delicious meals and such welcoming and accommodating hosts.

Our meal for our guests was for them all the highlight of the day, local ingredients are sourced by Elaine, scallops and venison, all perfectly cooked and presented, and the desserts . .

but unfortunately had to cancel due to Covid-lockdown restrictions.

Whilst the bed in Nethy was a generous size, I’m afraid it had to be the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in due to the spring coils.

but also because it was the only room that we could book for the 2 nights that we wanted in July (booking 6 weeks in advance) due to generally full occupancy throughout the summer holidays.

The most fantastic asset to this room is the lack of any electronic devices or ability to use due to no network or WiFi coverage and mean this genuinely.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our stay due to my pregnant wife being under the weather.

Enjoyed afternoon tea in one of the public rooms which have great views of the garden and beyond and make for the perfect spot to relax and pass an hour or two.

The house itself is set in a wonderful location quiet & peaceful surrounded by lovely gardens.

installed nice and comfy on lovely leather Chesterfields, our pooch next to us (with her complimentary treat) and a view of the hotel garden. Perfect.

We made the most of the glorious weather and enjoyed the peaceful garden.

Despite the Covid restrictions in place it all worked really well as the house lends itself to safe distancing with two lounges and two dining rooms,
our bedroom was huge, with a large en suite bathroom including a jacquzzi bath.Great view from the window overlooking the garden and the bird feeders so we could check out the red squirrels.

The room was so beautiful, lovely house and gardens.

We stayed in Craggan; a beautiful room overlooking the garden, the field, and the forest beyond.

Our room was beautifully appointed with luxurious bedding, a comfortable seating area overlooking the garden, a modern, elegant bathroom with heated floors, lighted mirrors, and all the amenities.

Wonderful service, friendly and helpful mine host, plenty of parking, big garden to enjoy - we'll be back!

It is spacious with views of the gardens and wooded hill beyond.

We definitely enjoyed our late afternoon Sunday scrabble and wine in the garden.

I had a most comfortable room looking out onto a delightful garden (complete with red squirrels).

Very friendly owners and such beautiful gardens for wildlife spotting.

Magnificent 1902 Country House, set in a big garden with spectacular giant ancient trees.

The  room we took, the Cromdale, was spacious and quiet, with beautiful views out to the front garden and distant pine trees.

The grounds of this hotel are, yet again, immaculately presented and absolutely beautiful, with extensive gardens around the house including a beautiful front lawn and excellent walks a stones throw from the hotel.

This is a stunning little hotel which was an oasis of tranquility and general loveliness on our trip to the Highlands.

A fantastic place to stay if you are exploring the Highlands.

For those who want to read a bit more, this was our first trip out with the dog and really our first expedition into highlands.

The location is perfect for exploring the Highlands - we enjoyed driving all round Loch Ness, into the Cairngorms and to Balmoral, to The Macallan Distillery and to Cawdor Castle.

We are now looking forward to our next visit to the beautiful Highlands.

We got married in July and were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our honeymoon in the heart of the Highlands.

on the way from the Highlands to Edinburgh - AMAZING breakfast with the best black pudding I've ever tasted.

I can't recommend Tigh na Sgaith highly enough for anyone looking for an idyllic Highland retreat.

Located in a perfect spot to explore the highlands and the hotel itself is nothing short of stunning.

The decor was appropriate, giving a highland feel to our stay, and from the Cromdale room, we could look out at the mountains, sunset, rabbits, and pheasants.

If we're ever in Scotland again, this will be the place we stay in the Highlands.

After a rather spontaneous last minute hotel search on our trip to the Highlands we stumbled across this little gem.

My wife and I traveled in the Highlands with another couple in early August.

Set in woodlands just outside of Grantown, provided a tranquil stop over.

Had a wonderful 4 night stay, very welcoming, relaxing and excellent food.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and the owners are very friendly and informative.

The first sight of the beautiful building and the warm welcome by Iain set the tone to a relaxing and friendly short (too short) stay.

My room was superb and it was so relaxing enjoying a cup of tea and homemade shortbread in the beautiful grounds .

Just the most relaxed afternoon tea I've ever had, with delicious food, fab sweet treats especially, this was a real birthday treat for the eldest of our family.

We had wine and beer down in the lounge area in the evening and it was so relaxing.

The hosts were just the nicest people you could meet, attentive and relaxed and made us feel so welcome.

Thank you for such a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Breakfast was delicious, the beds were comfy, the whole experience was relaxing calming and comfortable.

This is the perfect country house retreat.

Evenings in the front sitting room were very relaxing.

Fresh flowers on the tables and in all the rooms are just one demonstration of the care and attention that is given to making guests feel welcome and relaxed.

We had a really good relaxing stay at the hotel, and will definitely keep them in mind for future trips to the area.

Of course we knew before that this Mansion was antique and classic style, however to us, antique and outdated are different…

Our room (Nethy) was in the in the attic, after a double flight of stairs (one of them, narrow and steep); the mattresses were (fortunately) good,

rooms are up one or two steep flights of stairs, so if you are physically challenged you will struggle.
