The beach is picture-perfect - we got out early for a couple of walks and sunrises, and to avoid any ‘hassle’

The resort is the prescription from heaven for travellers overwhelmed by the rich diversity of safaris in the Mara and elsewhere in Kenya.

However, each day we were hounded by beach salesman, following us relentlessly up and down the beach trying to seek trips and souvenirs.

but friendly family all inclusive hotel with amazing food and brilliant staff, right on a lovely beach where you can walk safely, great pool and swim up bar, excellent rooms, a variety of cuisines in various locations with themed dinners by the pool or on the beach some nights, caring front of house staff and owners visible and involved to ensure all goes smoothly, highly recommended

All the blocks are located along a walkway leading down to the pool/beach, where there is a super beach bar for those evening pre-dinner drinks and after dinner cocktails.

Pinewood Beach and Resort is situated on one of the world's finest long white sandy beaches built with unique art and creativity enabling natural effects at the resort.

Special mention also to Nimrod and Paul at the beach bar.

i stayed for a month and I was seriously considering extending my stay in Kenya because of how much I loved pinewood and diani beach.

The beach location is stunning, excellent pool and superb (and varied) food served on the beach or by the pool, as well as the restaurant.

Dinner is served in three areas, the restaurant, by the pool or on the beach with a choice of food - top class.

The staff, led by Pamela, were attentive, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our comfort.

It is a small, boutique hotel, it is beautifully designed, the food and drink selection is varied and of very high quality and above all, the staff are all so friendly and helpful.

On arrival, after a lengthy 2hr transfer, we were greeted with friendly smiles and a welcome cocktail - great start to the week.

The staff are friendly and so helpful and looked after us very well.

Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere and the staff are so lovely and friendly (not sure about other reviews complaining of music, I never heard any other than very quietly in the day at the beach bar if your were sat there).

The service is amazing and all the staff are welcoming and friendly.

Plenty of space and different areas to relax, the suites are cleverly arranged so you’re not overlooked. The staff are friendly and so helpful (special shout out to John who looked after us very well at the beach bar!)

Super friendly and helpful staff, amazing food and such a relaxing environment.

Every single member of staff was charming, extremely friendly and always knowledgeable about whatever question was asked. The staff really seemed to care that guests enjoyed their stay and the resident manager (Pamela) was one of the most professional (and very nice!)

What strikes you the most is the friendly staff, attentive and always smiling - a joy !

but shower very poor, not much pressure and hard to get balance between cold and boiling hot.

She then came and found me at the beach the next day to say she had looked into it and staff admitted it was poor.

I am not in the habit of leaving poor reviews for anything,

14 – There are virtually no staff on hand to assist around the beach or pool area, probably why there are so many hawkers and poor hygiene.

The BBQ night was poor, as nearly all the "meat" was just bones.

Having left a main road to travel down a poor dirt track road, we were a little worried about the type of hotel that would be at the end of the stretch.

the poor man sweeping leaves by the pool had a never ending job with the cheeky monkeys appearing 2 seconds after he'd finished making a mess again!

We had a private chef who was available to cook each evening in our room for us, we tried this service once, so much choice available, just a shame the poor chap had never seen or tasted items he was meant to prepare as they were shocking.

Overall pretty poor experience that we had here and we won't be returning.

however much poor press that Kenya gets in the media I have never felt unsafe, always protected and feel it is probably much safer that parts of the UK.

the roads are very poor, the traffic worse than any I have seen anywhere, and the vehicles are not built for comfort.

but have never tasted such poor quality fish.

The really poor element was the mozzy net was very past its best, had been well darned

3 dining locations all equally good with amazing food.

My room had everything I expected and more, the food was varied and great for vegetarians and the lounge areas are very comfortable.

Start your day with an excellent breakfast buffet spread and enjoy freshly brewed coffee and fruits carvery to your likings and end your day with a poolside dinner under the stars.

There’s a great choice and it’s really good quality- very tasty!

Some of the best lunch food ever, prawns, samosas, noodles and delicious thin crust pizzas.

but tasty Indian selection at breakfast and dinner showed authenticity and good training.

The food is exceptional and varied catering for all types of tastes.

The selection was excellent including prawns, pizza, burgers and nice salads.

The quality of the food at all meals was superb, with a great selection catering for all diets and tastes.

Lot of activities, themed dinner, quiet and relaxing place.

Theres no in room tv, that for me was fine,

With our room available immediately, we were shown around by Mr C, which included a tour of the main facilities - bars, restaurants, pool and then finally our room.

The rooms are in blocks of six, with a total of 20 such blocks.

Rooms - we went for the Premium room, and found it to he unimpressive.

Our room was on the second floor of a ‘block’ of a couple of more rooms.

The rooms are in individual blocks consisting of 2 upper rooms with balconies and ground floor suites with a terrace.

Our room was comfortable and clean with air con - which on occasions was a blessing, drinking water was provided plus a fridge with additional tea and coffee making facilities.

Rooms are laid out in small blocks of 3 in impressive gardens, and so the whole feel is relaxed and personal; this is not a faceless corporate hotel and indeed the owners take meals with the guests, welcoming everyone they see.

We were briefed with information about the hotel and then shown to our room.

The rooms were spacious enough, clean and we loved the simplicity!

Sometimes by the pool, sometimes on the beach and sometimes in the dining room depending which night it is.

The room was nice and clean and large with a veranda that the Columbus monkeys would visit.

All rooms are well equipped and comfortable with air conditioning - the suites are brilliant.

Other than smartening up the rooms with a fresh coat of paint, it is exactly the brilliant same as it ever was - even the people.

The resort is beautiful, tropical, the rooms are very well appointed,and the food was 5 star fabulous.

We had a suite and our teenage children the room upstairs.

Same picture at the bar: impossible to get a cold beer at the beach bar („problems with the fridge), the smokers did dump the cigarette

Smoking near tv lounge drifts in which is a shame had to move away on more than one occasion.

but then we realised that the bar staff on the beach were encouraging the beach traders to smoke and drink at the residents-only bar also, which I feel is unfair to guests who, on the one hand, could strike up a conversation with them thinking they were fellow guests, only to be followed by them out onto the beach afterwards asking them to visit their shop and buy from them.

It was impossible to avoid the cigarette smoke and it's something that really bothers both me and my husband.

but one of our two rooms smelled odd and damp/odd and it had no opening windows so couldn't get rid of the smells.

4 – The pool area was filthy, with ashtrays overflowing and cigarette ends around the pool area.

I was also appalled at the amount of debris brought in by the tide and being a bit of an eco warrior I felt compelled to collect the empty milk cartons and plastic bags to dispose of in bins.

The arrival was all smiles, a damp flannel and towel and orange juice.

After the most hellish journey from Mombasa airport (expect a 2hr very bumpy journey through pollution thick air and dirty streets) we were exhausted and filthy

I applied factor 50 in the morning and still burned so badly and ended up with a back like a lobster!

The rooms were very cold and initially smelt a little damp -

but when we did the water was warm and clean and didn't seem to have too much chemicals in it.

When we turned of the airco the rooms smelled a bit musty.

but open shelving with curtains that matched the windows but clothes smelt musty most of the time which has not happened to us in other tropical locations.

The towels were old and tatty, and smelt awful; once they reeked of cigarettes.

That evening we ate in the restaurant as we were to late to order our meal with the chef and the restaurant was hot and full of fumes from the mongolian night albeit the food was lovely - all in all it was a rather disappointing start and I was a bit concerned that we'd chosen this place to get married. HOWEVER.

Staff from the lovely Pamela down to Eunice and Millie are brilliant nothing was too much trouble - thank you for a memorable stay

but it is excellently presented and served by super-friendly staff - it’s a world away from the canteen-style buffet we’ve experienced in some places!

The bar staff, Anthony & Khaleb are relaxed,  professional and fun.

We would like to thank the staff for a lovely six days.

The colour scheme- even matching the beams with the fam colour- with modern pastel colours- a la little greene- was intelligent and fit for purpose.

Without exception we were always welcomed with the warmest of smiles and cries of ‘jambo’ from everyone.

It was nice to see many familiar faces still employed, a true reflection of the owner’s determination to look after their staff through very testing ‘pandemic’ times.

Well being, tranquility and caring hospitality is evident with experienced hotel staff.

Everyone we engaged with was polite and super helpful.

We had a suite so plenty of space to spread out in, and the bonus of a very good size patio area to simply sit and watch the world go by - or indeed the monkeys!

If you can go for a suite as they are huge and really nicely decorated.

And the accommodation, we have stayed in garden suites, and first floor rooms with balconies, all very spacious, tasteful decor, mosquito nets, and air conditioning.

Stayed in a suite which was spacious and beautiful and cleaned to a high standard every day.

We had a ground floor suite which was really nice, private and roomy and looked out into a nice garden.

We stayed in the Baobab Family Suite which exceeded our expectations.

When we arrived reception greeted us warmly, and showed us to our suite- they had kindly decorated it with flowers and an archway for our celebrations which was simply wonderful and thoughtful!

We stayed in 2 suites, there is an option to have a chef come and cook for you in your suite,

but the staff were amazing at sorting it out and put us in a suite.

This place is outstanding the staff are amazing the Suite we had was actually out of this world we cannot recommend this hotel enough we absolutely throughly enjoyed our relaxing time here after our Safari Trip.

We were fortunate in having a suite, It was roomy and comfortable

The rooms are very comfortable, we had a superior room overlooking the beach with wonderful views.

We stayed in an Executive Suite room, all inclusive, which is kitted out in rustic Kenyan chic and a lot of room including a giant day bed on the balcony lookin out towards the sea. Included width this were the services of a personal chef ( thank you Katana the chef!)

Firstly the rooms had no towels
Secondly the bathrooms were flooding after showering
Thirdly the customer service was extremely poor
Fourthly the bedding were smelly 
Fifth the food was monotonous without variety and tasteless.

Bathroom was old and water was salty could not even brush teeth with tap water, the toilets weren't flashing properly.

Had to use my flip flop in the bath and I didn’t wanna touch anything there.

The Customer service in this resort is non existent, disorganized should be their other name, the rooms we were given were run down, had cobwebs, rusty taps, bed sheets that had hair remnants,dirty looking old towels,mouldy walls, towels that couldn't flash..
Their is just so much wrong here, most waiters look unhappy, disengaged, a few were happy though..80% of the population is white

One of the two air conditioners was not working properly.

The staff work really hard here and if they sometimes seem to be laid back this is their way of life , not like us who are always on edge under the pressures of life to have everything we want when we want it !!

but with salty water and due to the salinity their bathroom fittings do have salt marks.

Housekeeping services were below par, the towels were yellowed and smelly, the bathrooms were also not clean and the bath mat not changed daily despite being wet.

Some points are still to be improved though, mainly the broken treadmills at the gym and some of the shower towels quality.

The staff were rude abs uncooperative to us while showering white people with all attention.

though the telephone is not working so I had to walk to the reception area so that I could request for a baby basin.

The water in the showers is salty too which hurts the hair so thats asetback too

However the resort is far away from the center of Diani and the water of the bathroom is salted.

But the bathroom looks it needs some revamp as things were not that Impressive.

The rooms and bathroom facilities need an upgrade as they seem to have seen better days.

We went there on 10th and left on 14th.your reviews here made us come to you (kizuri hujitembeza)it was our first time in coast and amani tiwi gave us the best memories the staffs where nice Hariet who welcomed us with drinks,Adam the mixologist at the bar was friendly and full of stories you can't be bored when he is around.we were on full board plan we enjoyed everything with no limitations(there was small limitation on bar section on stuff we did not drink)

I will make it short and clear,.. from the moment we arrived to this paradise until we left everything was excellent, the reception, the room , the pool I bet best in Africa, the beach, mouth watering food and beverages .

There was a nice place for beach volley ball as well.

They even planned a surprise dinner, by the beach, for us.

that runs from the resort entrance to the private beach.

The beach is nice with many beds and we had really good beach volley games every day with people from every side of the world.

There is a stretch of private beach that is kept clean at all times and offers travelers a good place to relax.

It was amazing having the choice of both the pool and the beach and we had a fun and relaxing time.

The resort has a pleasant layout and is well located next to a beautiful beach.

We loved every bit of our stay.The hotel is beautiful,clean rooms.Large swimming pool and access to private beach.The food with daily themes and variety was so tasty.Daily evening entertainment and the staff were very helpful and  caring to make sure our stay was pleasant.

This hotel gets points for being wheelchair friendly and they have done a great job with acessability.

but we enjoyed our plan to the fullest .menu was different every day and alot to choose from,I loved the dinner themes they set for us it was just on another level.rooms were clean and spacious,the showers were good.the pool was always clean.

This hotel has very good service, nice staff, well equiped gym, one of the largest pool I have ever seen.

Their stories gave me some basic understanding of the very poor standard of their lives and no much hope for better future.

Food is bad,  service is poor, AC does not work in the room, location is not so good as well.meals come without drinks unless you pay separately for it on half board.

the all inclusive meal plan..very poor on meals and drinks menu.

The hotels odd policy for guests to finish their 1st drink before getting another gets rather annoying which I presume is to save money due to guests less frequently visiting the bar, snack bar food quality is poor and menu is limited to five dishes if a remember correctly, where are popular snacks like the burgers, wings, chips, ects?

but the rooms need some renovation expecially the bathrooms, no enough pool beds and pool mattress, cheese during breakfast is of poor quality maybe the  cheapest in the market, yoghurt is never there one has to order to get it.

TV room entertainment is limited and poor, had problems and reported it. 10.

Wi-Fi connectivity is poor if they could improve on that, please.

The all inclusive drink selection was poor, so better buy your own drinks.

but the service is very poor,  the food is pathetic to describe and the beach front is full of sea weeds.Hope the management can also replace the analogue TVs in the rooms.

The poor quality rice was always undercooked and clumpy, the veggies were overcooked and had no flavour to mention a few.

however that they should improve the cable connection in the room TVs (poor signal)  and also to bring back the Diamond Night club which the hotel had before.Other than that , Amani Tiwi has always been fantastic  and that is why we keep on coming back  :-)

The showers run (warm) salty water and the wifi is pretty poor.

Dirty salty water pools with not enough pool towels (we waited three hours and still no towels), unfriendly staff they, poor animation kids actually played musical chair like your in some birthday party, worst music played to mention

Huge workload affect quality service and hence poor perception of hotel.

Enough activities, food is average, wi-fi poor.

Wifi is only available at the reception area, in the rooms there is poor signal and most of the time you will not be able to use WIFI especially if the hotel is fully booked.

In particular, their all inclusive package was poor with the hotel running of of the drinks covered by the package or being asked to wait till the next meal is served, that beats the whole idea of all inclusive as they have packaged it.

Thanks to Emanuel from the reception Robert from Animation and all the staff who made our stay Great and Enjoyable, except for one incident that I must mention, the head of of animation Grabbed and pulled away a friendly guest from the dance floor, spilling his beer and almost made him fall.

Also a special mention to all of the kitchen staff who provided a wide range of fresh and delicious options every meal.

Plenty of restaurants with freshly cooked good food, including vegetarian options.

but the food was not accommodating vegetarian diet.. the room was good.

My hubby took me for my birthday weekend gateway and our stay for the weekend was nothing short of exceptional..From the amazing customer service we received to the sumptuous meals to the clean lovely room we got..they exceeded our expectations.

We stood and took our disappointment to our room and 45min later someone knocked on our door and they brought our cake.

Stayed in block 5 overlooking the pool in a lovely room that had lots of space and was very clean.

The rooms are very dated, furniture stained and not in very good condition.

The service is excellent and rooms (plus facilities) excellent.
