The rooms are a bit dated and the AC couldn't seem to keep up in the tower set aside for executive lounge access.

The room heating can be a little too much even in the midst of winter.

When I turned the air flow to the minimum, the room cooled down to a more tolerable 78 -

When I removed my door card from the wall mount, the air-conditioner turned back on again.

though as they responded quite negatively when I asked why the rooms were so hot and if the heaters were working.

At breakfast I came across the GM who checked upon the satisfaction of my stay.

Management changed the breakfast from full buffet to semi buffet which was a good idea since the hotel was still in low occupancy stage of recovery.

Very happy to come back and enjoy another safe and healthy stay at Kempinski in the future.

The room was very clean, breakfast was fresh and very flavorful.

Food is delicious and rooms are very clean.

Also he has assured me that he would be present on all days at 8.30 in the cafteria to keep my breakfast ready.

but we didn’t think much of the food especially for the price, the beer was ok however in comparison the Dragon Palace Chinese restaurant in the Hotel was delicious and the service was impeccable, we were looked after by the wonderful Jolin.

Breakfast, snacks and dinner were available, and the view was very nice.

Surprisingly , In dinner buffet at Berlin Cafe , I saw Samosa and heard an Indian voice in Hindi .

The buffet morning breakfast was of many variety of caters to everyone.

The breakfast was delicious and there are fun bars and restaurants nearby.

My favorite was the homemade yogurt. Yum!

I book with Booking.com which seems to offer rates inclusive of breakfast.

Good breakfast, of a standard on par with international hotels, a young, helpful, polite staff.

The beer is very delicious and brewed inhouse by a German Brewmaster.

There are five types of porridge such as  healthy brown rice, millet etc.

It has a Chinese restaurant, an Italian restaurant, 2 German eateries, and a deli.

The Paulaner have great authentic German food like sausages, pork knuckles, Sauerkraut and cold cuts.

but no soul no music nothing painfully silent .the German Restaurant was great and fun new years eve party .The Breakfast room was really big we went for breakfast at 9 but almost everything was gone and the Staff was so confused and disorganised .

but the Italian and especially the German restaurant were very good.

Excellent choices in hotel dining from traditional Chinese to Western to a German restaurant where they actually brew their own beer (and it is quite good).

I wouldn't miss the pizza bar or the german restaurant both are excellent! !

Retaurants which were numerous offering different choices of food,we particularly enjoyed the german restaurant also offering home brewed beer.

Like in all Kempinski Hotels in China, there is a German style Paulaner restaurant in the basement with live music and German beer and food.

The location if perfect, right across the street from a beautiful park.

The room had a central view of Labor Park which is definitely worth a wander round, we requested a non smoking room that was high up and with a view,  which they delivered and then some!

It is located downtown, very close to the ZhongShan square, malls, small snack streets and a wonderful park just across the street.

Tip: View the beautiful city lights from the park across the street and try street food at Zhongyuan Street!

It is also in a great location, near major parks, city center, and a wonderful alley of street food.

and the view was lovely overlooking Labor Park.

It looks great and it has great city views as well as Labour Park views.

The gym overlooking the park has been refurbished since last years stay with high tech equipment.

The room has a view of Labour Park and the shopping centres across the road.

You can start your day with an excellent breakfast, explore the Labour Park with going to the Dalian TV Tower by Lift, going down by slade in summer or in winter.

Located at the downtown of the city, close to the Train Station and Laodong Park.

Close to the center of the City and very close to the Park.

There is also Laodong Park, a 5-minute walk.

The hotel is located in parkland which is a very nice place just in front of the labor park and the commercial area not far from the old train station.

The hotel is in front of a very beautiful park if you want to go jogging in the morning.

Great location, very close to a nice park and the central station.

Room was excellent with good views over the Labour Park and central sectors of the city.

I loved that it was just in front of labour park which would have been a great view

The location near the Labour park is attractive for those who might fancy a walk or jog.

However, compare to the other 5 star hotels in Dalian, the hotel needs to be renovated urgently in order to meet guest’s expectation.

but do seem like they need to be updated.

No free shuttle bus from/to airport, furniture in room is not in mint condition and breakfast buffet is not included when a “deLux” room is booked (Y610 excl tax).

the hotel is just average nothing special for what you pay, considering also that in summer time the room was terribly cold due to too much air condition.

The air condition did heat up the room throughout the day (for what reason? no clue.  )

Some rooms are in need of renovation, and the price of tea in the lobby is extortionate,

but found that the bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke.

They can bring out the sweat in your body inspite of the cold Dalian wind outside.

I got nasty sore throat and was desperately looking for Theraflu

but only one adjacent non smoking room was available.

I was so grossed out I left to go back to the single sex saunas.

but it may take you an hour to get cream or sugar, the bar smells like a frat party trying to break a record for smoking cigarettes, . ."

My wife found exactly the same one at the shopping mall close by ( Dalian shopping Mall) with hardly 300 RMB! You can visit ( on the 5th floor) the genuine Chinese restaurant "Dragon's Palace" ( NON smoking.  )

It is allowed to smoke in the lobby which is not good where it already started to be banned in all closed areas.

The staff is very friendly and helpfull - rooms are clean - location is excellent.

I was impressed with the professional service the staff provided to me.

My family and our friends experienced an Authentic Indian treats along with great hospitality from the staff and the chef.

As always very friendly and competent staff as well as great location.

Special thanks to the friendly and welcoming GM Mr. Borer who personally welcomed every guest.

Since front desk had passed on the message of my presence, he was ready with Palak Poori and vegetables subjee.

From the very start of our stay we were looked after by the friendly staff, most that we encountered had very good English, David was especially helpful and always on hand to assist with any queries or problems we encountered, even those that were not hotel related.

Service was skilled and helpful, my thanks go to the Kempinski staff for their mindfulness and friendliness.

Despite high occupancy, the staff were very helpful and tried their best to converse in English.

The reception staff was quick and communication was perfect in English.

The hotel staff were always  friendly and ever willing to lend a hand.

Tables are cleared promptly and the buffet replenished often by the team of chefs busily cooking in the open view kitchen.

One thing is not ok, it is not possible to adjust the temperature in the room down, it was a bit too warm for my comfort.

The temperature settings in the room do nothing.

When I complained the next morning, the front desk told me that they room thermostats don't change the temperature, which is set centrally, just the air flow, so what I had done was increased the flow of (very) warm air into my room.

Only Cons: not possible to change temperature in the room.

The room is really warm because the room temperature is controlled by a centralized system where you cannot adjust the temperature to your liking and all the room are same temperature.

and it was hard to get the temperature down to that level being comfortable for me to sleep.

Dalian despite being at -12 degrees the water is at room temp in bath.

The temperature in the room was far too hot and lowering the thermostat did nothing.

First, I wouldn't be writing this if I felt the hotel was average in any way.

The overall rating is just average as room accessibility to me is very important.

At around £100 a day this amounts to no  more than average value for money for a standard room.

Good variety breakfast, gym and pool are pretty much the best in Dalian since I’ve also tried many other brands over the years.

Everything was delicious, especially the truffle mushroom dumplings!

Cookies made by John were so yummy 😋 Especially small ones with jam inside, love it.

Excellent service, excellent  cleanliness, excellent hotel location, comfortable room, very good breakfast, and I had a nice sleep!

The second reason was bad internet speed, I was there for business

My colleague has got her laptop hacked while attempting to connect only, not even connected yet!!

However, due to the Poor Internet Speed encountered.

but one thing that really annoyed me was the smell of the carpet, and the low speed of the Internet.

My suggestion to the hotel would be:
1) Internet speed to increase to fulfill business needs
2) Breakfast should have more choices and varieties, refill speed need to be fast

The only problem bad internet connection in the rooms

The rest is just perfect from the spa to the news distributed every day in the room

Speeds increased a little bit when using my corporate VPN.

But then you have to pay extra for breakfast (about £15) and for the internet (about £9).

The New World does not offer wlan internet for free.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful, especially the Chinese food section,

Breakfast and dinner delicious, and staff very kind and avaliable to help you anytime I was needing support.

Stayed i a corner room with a broken wifi and had to dig in for 3 days to find cheese at during breakfast located behind the kids playground at the corner of sushi bar.

Must try the buffet breakfast as many choices of food and sure will give one a good start in the day.

Breakfast was great and was even offered freshly squeezed orange juice by the head chef(Gautam Sethi.

The breakfast in the hotel was absolutely amazing with so many varieties it was unbelievable.

Rooms are outstanding and breakfast is amazing.

Breakfast buffet is excellent and superior to most other high end hotels in China.

Pro: 
- Great breakfast buffet at reasonable price, 128 RMB
- Fantastic comer view bay room with ample room size, three windows and great rain shower in bathroom
- Ask Concierge for a location card so cabs around town know where you want to go and get back to the ranch
- Maid service is great and friendly 
- Tip, TV sound is limited at low volume, solution is to blast the speakers in the bathroom if you want to hear anything.

Restaurant for breakfast was one of the best I have had in China.

They also wanted to close much earlier than it says on the wall (01:30) and requested us to pay and leave at around 01:00

The rooms are tired old and outdated the executive lounge is closed can’t rate the service as breakfast because there was no service no seating no offer of coffee just fend for yourself attitude.

bread is on this corner while the cheese and ham is on the other side. no coffee at 0800 oclock, manager helpt us to get it from machine, ( why the machine is serve behind the washing table)

The only funny things was that coffee coups at breakfast was from IKEA.

but the afternoon and evening spread is lacking severely, and there isn't even a coffee machine.

Was asked to pay almost $8.00 for the coffee.

Perhaps the only shortcoming is that the coffee comes out of a machine rather than brewed by a trained barista.

.and waht's more, no milk served  in the buffet breakfast!!!

19)	The afternoon tea on Executive floor is so pathetic.

Coffee served was lukewarm and there seemed to be a lack of staff at the restaurant and those around seemed a bit disinterested in their work.

Room was missing crucial amenities, ie, a coffee mug and spoon

but you can also dine elsewhere as they’re multiple options on your left leaving the lobby to a four story building on the harbor with 8-12 restaurants and coffee bars, 1/2 mile walk.

even though youa re not allowed to smoke in the hallways, I always found a smell in the hallways.

The hotel does have both smoking and non-smoking room and there was a faint smell of smoke everywhere

They are always hassling their Diamond members the rooms were small and smelled from smoke breakfast was a joke.

no traces of cigarrate smoke which we all know most hotels in China eventhough advertise themselves as smoke free that is just not the case.

Wasn't how to translate "non-smoking room" per my HH profile.

But when I got to my room, not only was it a smoking room, it was on a lower floor.

I got a smoking room, I have asked for a non smoking.

Actually there are guests in the lobby to smoke, no one persuasion, occurred in the 16th in the evening!

It looks, smells and actually is a vast construction site.

Also, in my non-smoking room I could more than once smell cigarette smoke.

Why would staff allow guests to smoke in non smoking room.

From no pickup arrange at the airport, then smell from taxi, bad city traffic.

Upon reflection, I should have inquired about a replacement mattress and a higher level of internet to see if they could solve these issues.

Service level is terrible, internet works sometimes and sometimes not.

One note about wifi, the wifi connection to the hotel was strong.

2 imperfections: the Wifi is not always stable in the room and has to reconnect sometimes.

Free WiFi in rooms is most of the time not working.

After initial inquiry, they comped us for wifi.

The internet connectivity as well is very slow.

It either keeps dropping off or doesn’t even connect.

Despite the 1600 yuans/night, the internet is not for free.

My only problem was the wifi internet, which only worked sporadically.

Unfortunately, there was a poor WiFi connection in the room (and it was not free of charge).

Internet connection is chargeable at RMB100 per day and I would have expected, like many other 4-5 star hotels in China, for it to be free.

Personally, I don't think internet should cost 100RMB a day,

The breakfast buffet at the iCafe restaurant was excellent.

Everything is excellent, from check in to room comfortability to breakfast.

Breakfast buffet is good with lots of options.

After breakfast, I ask the staff at the Horizon club for a 6PM late checkout so I can get some sleep before my 8:00 pm flight out of Dalian.

I like the noodle and the Dalian pancake very much!

Great spread of international breakfast selections.

A few minutes later, again a young waiter cherry, she poured me a cup of honey water, drank it helped me, and brought to Apple, saying that I may cause physical discomfort factor, well after I lay down and arrange to leave.

Along with the stay I have lots of people to thanks, all breakfast crews at lobby, 17th floor room cleaner Wu Ciu Min, all crews at horizon club which special thanks to Coco 王静，Cherry 艳玲and 梓琳 as they are very kind and helpful, especially Coco who has provide me a very excellent, professional and outstanding work from daily operations knowledge to customer service, she was able to take care and reduce my worries about extending the stay, some travel questions and good service when I was relax or having meal at horizon club.

In the morning, breakfast was a really great setup.

Great service as always,  Oh yeah, ice cream for breakfast really hits the spot.

Been at shangri- la for three weeks so far for business trip and it’s been really good, especially the room service and the breakfast and dinner at horizon.

Thanks to Ms Donna for making sure my breakfast had everything that i wanted, thanks to Ms. Jennifer GRO for showing us a hotel tour with passion, and Ms Alice Zhang from ADD that out of her way to prepare special nice cakes for us and introduce her restaurant and Ms Yang Jing served us with all kinds of delicious food with great service.

The restaurant was good, and the breakfast was above par!!

Morning came - what was all the fuss about - one apple and one orange!!!!! Ahem!!!

I enjoy the wide selection of well prepared and delicious cuisine within your hotel too.

One can have traditional Chinese breakfast,

but clean enough, shower spray is getting better than before and rather nice breakfast of many choices.

The adults enjoyed the egg station and the kids loved the bakery items.

The breakfast choice is great for local or Japanese less for westerners
