I took an all day trip to hike the great gorge of Samaria from here & I am set up to do a 6 hour boat tour out to Dia Island,  the island of Zeus.

The reception is very helpful, they arranged our car rental and planned our excursion to the Samaria gorge.

They booked us on a fantastic tour to the Samaria Gorge, which I would definitely recommend doing, as well as renting a car and going to beautiful Bali beach during your stay.

but after walking 14km through the Samaria Gorge we needed our sleep!

Great breakfast with wide choice of fresh juices, cheeses, meat, olives, vegetables, fruit and national dishes (salads, dakos, pies with spinach and cheese), a lot of sitting space both inside and outside.

Hotel provides easy access to take the local bus to visit Knossos (you can buy bus tickets at front desk), national park where farmers market set up, 7 min walk to the city center for exploring the market place, archaeological museum, restaurants and waterfront.

The hotel is well placed on the edge of the centre with quick access to the national road.

There is easy access from the National road and 1 km walk from the popular shopping centre.

It's a 15 minute walk to the National Archaeological Museum and an easy drive to the Palace of Knossos.

From the national road (main east-west highway), we were at the hotel in less than 15 minutes.

We found an immaculately clean, modern hotel, easy to get to from the airport (we drove a hire car) and the Route National and a gentle 15 minute walk into town proper.

Good location, with an easy access to the airport and to the national road.

but very convenient to national highway/motorway, airport and roads heading south to Knossos and interior.

Conveniently located, within walking distance of Heraklio's Old Town (and especially of the National Museum), and very easy to get out of town whether to the airport, to the great archeological site of Knossos, or to other parts of this delightful island.

It is easily reached by car from the National Road which connects the major cities of Crete.

And it is still close to the airport, a short walk to town, and has easy access to knossos and the national road.

From the moment we checked in to check out we were so very impressed by 
everything and everyone at this property .The location was very great for us as we like to walk - the town center was 10-15 mins .The airport was 15 mins ( car) .Eventhough the hotel is located in the city it felt as

We can’t fault the location either and being able to walk into the centre of town through a beautiful park is convenient for us too.

But the no 2 or no 20 bus stopped outside for the centre, and the stop for knossos was less than five minutes away.

In about 10 min taxi ride you are at the airport, at the port or in the city centre.

Great stay, 10 minute walk from the main city center.

This is an excelent hotel no more than 10 min walking to city centre.

Lot of restaurants in the area and City center is also 5 mins away.

A beautiful,  city centre and very well run hotel.

The hotel is not far from Heraklion center,

close to city center, bars restaurants etc.

We found restaurants near and away from the center by the fountain that were all wonderful.

The city center is a mere 10 min walk while u can access the highway in a couple of minutes.

The hotel is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the centre of Heraklion or a short cheap taxi ride!

The city center is about 10-15min away by foot.

When we were done, we bought bus tickets as they had explained to us and went to the city center to see the Archeological museum.

Galaxy hotel is central Heraklion and walking distance to the city centre/harbour.

We booked a table for 2 at the a-la-cart restaurant by the pool, there was a live music event with an excellent local singer
The hotel is modern in design, located very close to the city center, yet very quiet
All the personell was extremely polite and eager to please all our needs.

High quality city hotel within walking distance from the city center, with helpful and professional staff (reception, restaurants, cleaning staff).

It is also very close to the city and many great restaurants around too, location perfect!

I can say only good words about Galaxy Hotel Heraklion:
Always clean well maintained rooms, rich breakfast buffet, outdoor swimming pool, walking distance to the Old City.

The hotel is situated within close proximity to the city centre where there is an abundance of restaurants and bars, plus areas of historical interest.

Pros:
- Good central location within easy walking distance to the city centre
- Comfortable pillows
- Hallway is scented with perfume which was nice

Cons:
- Room wasn't ready at 2pm check in
- Do not try to walk here from the ferry.

but we were quite happy with our hotel.The rooms are quite big and very clean.Breakfast is amazing and can satisfy any taste!The hotel is in a very good proximity from the city and the staff are always nice and happy to help with anything you might want.Very good value for money overall!! !

Situated at a very convenient spot close to city center.

Situated in a walking distance from the city center (yet not a few steps away) with an easy access from the main highway, make it ideal for expeditions inside or outside the city.

It was a walking distance to the city centre and they were restaurants and supermarkets close by the hotel.

It is very near the city center and the port.

The hotel is located at a very good location, close to the old city (just a few minutes walk).

but then so is the hotel itself so it's ok. 
One of the best features is how close it is to the city center.

It is quite close to the airport, yet within walking distance to the city center.

The hotel is located both near the airport (less than 15 minutes by taxi) and within a walking distance from the city center.

They also have a small car park so if you happen to have a vehicle you can use it free of charge.

All about 6 cars are allowed to get in the park.

ideal for visits to nearby knossos and also great for families as hotel finds babysitters (ask for nina) who can play in nearby parks.

but on the plus side its a nice walk through the park.

As a tip when walking down to town, bear left through the cool and tree shaded park, and this also cuts off a corner to reach Freedom Square, the edge of town.

Taken at first sight, it's a bog standard modern hotel in an average part of town with a miniscule car park -

Just up the road is a nice park to relax in the cool over a drink whilst sipping a drink, sometimes to the sounds of live music.

The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and it was a relief to hand our hire car over to the hotel staff to park and take care of.

The hotel is situated about 1km from the centre of town - the walk is quite pleasant along a road and through a small park and there are some restaurants close by if you don't want to walk too far.

Just a ten minute walk from the parks, busy shops, and the lovely port.

We were within walking distance of the museum and a great city park.

An easy walk to town and pop into the park on Evan's street for coffee or a drink in the park.

but not more than a ten -fifteen walk through athe beautiful park.

just down the road u find the bar in the park and further down that bar in the ruins.

There is a car park behind teh hotel,  the rooms are quiet and clean and the staff very helpful.

In particular the porter turned up as if by magic to take over the car and park it somewhere for free when we finally found the hotel after a rather stressful journey.

Well located on the main road into town, close by to the park and main square.

though we were at a resort - with beautiful outdoor amenities Ie pool ,lounge area and restaurant.

Excellent location and amenities and outstanding restaurant meal.

Breakfast buffet had the usual selection of fruit, cereal, hot and cold foods.

There is also a lovely restaurant next door which does fantastic pizzas.

I was struggling to find nice food on my travels and this hotel has the best food, 10/10.

The restaurant is spacious with lots of food options.

Super friendly staff, good food, confortable rooms

Dinner that night was the hotel's dinner buffet.

It's a short walk into Heraklion and the bars and restaurants.

Everything about the hotel is faultless: the location, the size and quality of the room, hygiene, food and drink and, above all, the impeccable staff.

There is an outstanding restaurant five minutes from the hotel just up the road towards the city centre.

However, we ate breakfast near to the reception.

For our birthday we got a cake and champagne sent to our room by the restaurant manager who was so genuinely caring and lovely, as we're all the staff.

We ate some evenings at the hotel restaurant which was reasonably priced and the food was amazing, particularly the Sofegada of Seabream.

Our bed was two singles pushed together and the rooms quite small so didn’t feel like a 5 star hotel.

The rooms are very small, the carpet is filthy, the shower curtain is yellowish at the bottom, it hasn’t been changed in a long time, 
and the room has an odor.

For a five star hotel, rooms are rather small, the TV is quite small and the WC chain didn't work propperly.

The room where I stay was a little bit small.

there is no complementary drinking water supplied in the room and one bottle cost 3 euros.

The rooms are small - I was traveling solo so this was fine, would have been cramped for two.

We really enjoyed our stay except for the fact that the room very small for 3 people.

The first room 636 was really small with barely any clearance to walk and no balcony.

The rooms are small, carpet was stained in the two rooms we had.

I have never seen a room this small even in a 3-Star hotel.

The effect of this was that we couldn't have the door open at all due to the traffic noise and exhaust fumes.

Bedroom: Pool side bedroom (because another review complained about street side noise) was smelly (like someone smoked there before - reminded me cheap US motel) and pretty crumbed with the queens bed and nice size closet (which smelled like wet bathing suits :-) )

there is weird smell in the room which you cannot do anything about.

It smelled like cigarettes covered up by incense.

The carpets were filthy and the room was not a twin room as per our multiple requests (when booking, and when arriving to confirm).

These establishments can be identified by the lack of ashtrays on the tables.

however there are some big flaws with the hotel: 

Unfortunately the bed was very lumpy, the sheets kept coming off and the linen didn't smell fresh thus have knocked off one star for that.

The room we were staying in had a smokey smell to it.

A bottled water,  stale food in a plate, small double bed and a small balcony with a pool view of people swimming.

Oh - lots of people smoke in Crete generally I found and so the hotel was no exception.

Spa facilities were really nothing much more than a basic gym and a somewhat smelly steamroom.

although unfortunately there were some nasty stains on the carpet in room 635.

Also the front desk did not deal very well with an incident involving a faulty smoke alarm and did not provide explanation or apology for being woken in the middle of the night to check alarm.

The pool area was lovely, the pool is a fresh water pool so there's no nasty chlorine smell.

One bad note - the carpeting in the lobby hallway (en route to the rooms) is filthy!

And our hotel room smells like cigarettes

We selected this hotel first as it was the only 5 stars hotel in Heraklion offering smoking rooms; our choice was right in all aspects.

They were so accommodating our flight from Athens was seamless.

Kudos to every member of the Hotel Galaxy team !

The staff were well trained and professional.

The staff were really really good including the porters, they were helpful when asking about the area and assisting with cab transfers etc and very welcoming when we saw them.

Wonderfully friendly and professional service.

The reception staff spoke to one another in Greek, which was unusual, and whilst the error was rectified, the tone was not at all apologetic.

Throughout our stay the room was always well cleaned and the ladies servicing the room always had a pleasant smile.

The staff very accommodating, always smiling and very approachable.

Such professional staff and excellent facilities.

The staff are so helpful and always so accommodating and go above and beyond to help with your needs and queries.

The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The staff have become our friends and we look forward in seeing these wonderful people as much as our family.

It would be helpful if this information was made available by the hotel.

Our executive room was spacious and clean, the staff from the reception to the restaurants were very friendly and the location is very convenient.

The breakfast was very nice and spacious, the waiters very attentive to our needs.

This involved my mum having to walk up a steep incline with her frame and assistance.

He offered us fair advice and supported up in booking car hire, Balos and the Samaria Gorge walk.

We also did the Sa Marina Gorge which was great

The hotel is not so far away from Chania airport (45-60min drive with bus) and a perfect stay to visit the beautiful Samaria Gorge (90-120min drive).

We would recommend the trip to Samaria Gorge if you enjoy a very long walk with great views, about 15K

Imbros Gorge : is about 70mins drive from the hotel and a great Gorge to hike with the kids  (9 & 11yr).

We took the Grand Canyon Gorge trip and it was spectacular.

Little Fun Train is an excellent way to see some local sights, we want through the gorge.

The resort is perfectly located for excursions (or renting a car (I suggest Pan-Car, best included insurance coverage) to Balos Beach, Elafonissi Beach and the Samaria Gorge (->age 12 and up, 18 km mountain hike..).

Location was good for walking Samaria Gorge and sightseeing Western end of Crete

If you are in good health we fully recommed having a go at the Samaria Gorge walk.

Access to this hotel is easy as it is close to the national road to go to Chania or any other place you want to visit.

We found a National Greek Football Museum (situated close to the market) which our two boys loved. It's only small

Would love to say many thanks to all staff especially Stella in the Samaria restaurant.

FOOD AND DRINK

There are 2 restaurants and the Creta Princess the main restaurant (Samaria Restaurant) and an Asian Restaurant (Easy Japanese Fusion) which you can book at reception.

The Mura restaurant like the Samaria restaurant was buffet style.

We also thought Pavlos in the Samaria restaurant was friendly & jolly every morning, chatted to us & worked hard.

In the Samaria restaurant the quality and variety of food was excellent, local specialities were always on the menu and we were encouraged to try these dishes.

We ate breakfast and dinner in the Samaria restaurant -

I have to mention also Efi in the Samaria restaurant who was everyday so welcome and tried to please us all the time.

however on 2 occasions they didn’t leave the correct number of bath towels.

The bathrooms both flooded every time we showered which meant I was mopping up a dirty floor every night.

The bathroom is dingy with lots of mould etc.

The bathrooms had mould and not cleaned adequately whilst we were there.

There was a terrible smell coming from toilet all the time as well.

The building and amenities are definitely in need of an upgrade.

However they do allow you to use a room for 30 mins for showers etc an hour and half before your transfer time and there is of course a luggage room.

but they are only needed for sleeping and showering.

The shower is really powerful and water very hot.

There were certain things like the sink not being cleaned everyday, mugs not washed, tea & coffee not replenished etc that I would've expected from any hotel, no matter the star rating.

The rooms I was most worried about were better than expected, yes they were dated, yes the shower leaked over the floor, yes there was a present smell of sewage.

Among the minuses, I would like to say that there was always no soap in the handicap toilet, dirty bath towels were not always changed in the room, and the plates were often not well washed in the restaurant.

but the bathtub had a little rust and no bath stopper it means I could not have a bath only a shower.

Upon flushing the toilet you would constantly have a stench of sewage that filled the room.

I going, to be honest - the hotel is terrible for 4 stars,
Horrible smell in the bathrooms that spreads throughout our room, not to mention the micro size of the room.

The bedrooms need a revamp, as well as the bathrooms.

Ants in our room .Sprinklers flooded our room  because we was on ground floor when we told reception no apology was given.

This obviously makes a lot of the toilets smell.

Beach area pebbly with rusty old loungers and dirty parasols,some better than others.Pools were good with slides for extra fun,food was also a good point.on arrival did complain about aircon asked to be moved to be told not possible,however hotel nowhere near full !!

but if not, you have a good bus connection to the near city xhania.

It is located in a very good location close to the city of chania and other cities of the island of crete.

Clean pools and facilities, manager Andreas went out of his way to help with any issues, and made us feel very welcome, water park excellent fun and well supervised by lifeguard team.

but also could ride all the large flumes in the water park.

Pool area is great with the bonus of the water park and lifeguards work hard so it feels really safe.

Park & Train 🛝 🚂
There is a small play park which is great for little ones.

There are 4 swimming pools (2 children's wading pools, 1 main pool, 1 water park).

The hotel is very nice, big pool area and water park are great and the staff is very friendly.

We took our granddaughter here for her 7th birthday, it was a lovely resort for her as she loves water so was in her element with the splash park and pools.

Klean rooms,  good food, big pool area with aqua Park.

Located beachfront with massive swimming pools and aqua park.

The pool area is the hotels selling point, the aqua park and children's pools were brilliant.

The Aqua Park was so much fun and the  lifeguards were on the ball with watching out for people.

Apart from 3 fantastic aqua parks for all ages, the entertainment team planned plenty of activities every day, from Zumba and dance to Yoga and core trainings.

The kids pool and splash park were so good and the lifeguards were very attentive making it all feel every safe.

but the squash park mad this the best hotell in Creta ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The hotel is lovely, in a great location with its own beach, lots of pools and a great aqua park.

Thank you to all at creta princess aqua park and spa.

The park was another place my little one enjoyed.

There is also children EVERYWHERE which is to be expected as this hotel has an aqua park,

There’s also lots of places to eat out & parks for kids to go on on the walk down.

The entertainment itself is solely aimed at the adults and is quite poor and only lasts around 30 minutes if that.

•	WiFi was poor in the room (bungalow rooms).
