The breakfast is mind blowing guys and the people serving food in the restaurant are so friendly that u can ask them anything without thinking much , and I cannot that the lady in the reception was amazing she helped us to get to the town can’t thank her and the people in the restaurant for making us feel at home

The hotel is very disabled friendly, my husband is a wheelchair user & the disabled room overlooking the garden was well equipped.

Fantastic accommodation with friendly staff and absolutely first class service.

But there are plenty of places to eat close by and it's a bit quieter at the eastern end of the harbor.

I like that is is only four floors and situated at the elbow of Chania harbor.

The breakfasts are amazing and you can't beat having coffee outside on the front patio while you gaze at the harbor and watch the people parade by.

The hotel is located in a more quiet part of the harbor which is very nice.

Fantastic location right on the marina , staff were great and the breakfast was superb, definitely recommend a visit, rooms were neat clean and tidy, in hindsight would have grabbed a front room instead of a side room as they seem a bit bigger

The Porto Veneziano Hotel is located in the heart of the the old Venetian Port of Chania which is a marvelous location.

but whenever we retreated to our room for a break, we were spoiled by the beautiful views of the old port right outside of our balcony. Our suite with port view (room 310?)

The bar - restaurant of the hotel are very good with spectacular views to the port  and its old buildings.The breakfast is an experience ,except the fact that is freshly cooked and well presented ,it introduces you to the Cretan delights and local products .Try their Cretan  breakfast and the small Cretan pies !

The hotel is wonderfully situated overlooking the old port which is picture perfect at sunset.

This hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the airport and is situated in a peaceful section of the harbour overlooking the old Venetian port.

To start with, we had a free parking for the whole period of time we've stayed there-3 nights.The location of the hotel is superb- bang on the port right next to everything which is worth exploring in Chania, and the view from the room balcony is unforgettable,really breathtaking.

We stayed  in this wonderful hotel for 16 nights, our room at the hotel was lovely and spotlessly clean and the view of the port from the balcony was stunning.

Right on the waterfront with a great view of the port - falling asleep with the boats lapping against the pier was amazing!

Some reviews mention about the bathrooms being small -

Note that the room and bathroom are quite small..

The suite was not as big as it should, the beds were mediocre and the bathroom was too small and weirdly shaped.

The hotel is a good 3* standard - yes, the rooms are pretty basic and a bit small and yes, the bathrooms are VERY small - you do almost have to stand in the shower tray to close / open the door -

We had seen the Porto Venetziano whilst walking around the harbour and both of us felt if it was available that we would love to stay there, it just so happened to have availability.

Right on the waterfront, you can just walk out and join the promenade,

but plenty to see whilst out walking along the coast.

but right in the heart of things, an easy walk to everything in town.

We spent an afternoon walking round doing this and it paid off.

The nearest one with sunbeds and facilities is a 20mins walk the other side of town.

It is located by Chania's inner harbour, a short walk from the town centre.

The position of hotel perfect for view over the little Harbour and an easy walk to the main.

Walking around the winding streets was great fun and the selection of top quality restaurants nearby was very convenient.

but in the quiet zone , sea front and 3 mins close to the busy side -  walking .

There’s a great beach 10 or 20 mins walk away - water is warm and clear.

The location is perfect for travelling the island as it is located right next to the bus station.

It’s right next to the bus station as well.

Excellent location in the edge of old town and next to bus station.

We had a small balcony that overlooked the bus station, so we didn't use it,

Although it sounds a negative thing to be located near the bus station, it made it so easy to find out travel information & there was no noise from it due to having such good soundproofing.

The location is also really convenient for the old town, the beach and transport links (bus station is next door, 20-30 min bus ride to the airport).

It's next to the bus station so you can get around the island easily and cheaply.

It's a very well-run hotel beside the city bus station (which makes it a great location for anyone intending to travel around Crete by public transport).

Although the hotel is right next door to the bus station (convenient for us as we took a bus from Heraklion to Chania) you would never know it.

The bus station is minutes away so very easy to travel to the local beaches which were about 15 minutes away.

A mere stroll from the city of Xania or the bus station (A popular drop of point) and this little slice of heaven awaits.

A ten minute walk from everything and right next to the bus station (you'd never know it), so no need to hire a car if you want to take any trips anywhere.

It is next door to the bus station and also next to a stop for the Hop On Hop Off bus tour of Chania.

Staying at the samaria was very warm and welcoming the staff were very friendly and helpful The buffet breakfast was excellent plenty of choice and well presented.Even the hotel is located in the town and next to the bus station we found it quiet and slept very well.The pool area is small

It is in easy walking distance to the old city of Chania, and directly adjacent to the KTEL bus station which connects to every interesting destination in western Crete.

The hotel was clean with a good gym, swimming pool and nice buffet breakfast.

The facilities were excellent, comfy room and a wide variety of breakfast choices which were constantly replenished.

Our room was kept very clean and we were provided with tea and coffee making facilities.

We spent a fair bit of time by and in the lovely swimming pool.

For sure the facilities were excellent, and the hotel was well appointed, clean and comfortable.

Just wonderful right from reception stage, with efficient handling of car parking, receiving us with a smile, allocating to us an absolutely clean and well decorated room with all facilities.

Hotel samaria is situated on the center of the town in Chania, just two minutes on foot from the old venetian harbor.

The location is great, within walking distance to the old venetian harbor and the city center.

The staff and service were excellent, the room was comfortable and spacious, the swimming pool was an unexpected delight, and the breakfast was delicious every day!

We also ate one evening by the pool and had a lovely meal and again great service.

Everything was excellent , nice room,  nice stuff ,  great breakfast , great service and great pool 🎱.

Service is one of the best I've experienced from the moment you enter the hotel (with free refreshments, shower and change of clothes) continued even after check-out (by staying at the premises, enjoying the pool with suitcases safe).

but what really stands out is the exeptionally good service and friendly attitude of the staff.

Their service is impeccable and the staff is friendly, they actually deserve an extra star!

Extremely comfortable with a high and unobtrusive  level of service.

The attention they provided us, all the services were great, the breakfast is really complete and with a wide variety.

but for 10 euros/day the hotel offered valet service.

Great service, very clean, employees were all gracious,  helpful,  and welcoming.

The staff are wonderful - Super friendly and provide great service.

The room was small with a very uncomfortable bed, the hot breakfast which was included was usually cold and not great.

A few reservations: our (standard) room was very small, almost too small to accommodate two, and storage was very limited.

The rooms are a bit small (15m2) so it is better to book a higher category room if you like spacious rooms.

Admittedly our room was a little small on arrival and I asked to move, the hotel manager (lady) moved heaven and earth and provided us with a bottle of champers and fruit in a new room.

This place is ok ~ it is safe, super small rooms & probably best for the 20 to 30 year old crowd that can hang with all the road chatter, engine noise & gas fumes.

although some days our fresh towels smelled like cigarettes.

The suites are exquisite, and the prices do not leave you with a hole burned in your pocket.

On the last day of our visit, I believe the pool must’ve been cleaned as the smell of the chemicals used was very strong.

When the patio door is closed you cannot even hear the busses, and the pool has a great water feature to mask the noise as well.

As a non-smoker it was a bit disturbing that smoking was allowed in the pool area and at the breakfast (outside).

* No means to make yourself coffee in the standard room
* No ice machine in hallway
* Smoking outdoors by the pool

I used the hotel gym and was able to get a good work out in (to burn off all those fried potatoes)

Food- we only ordered room service once as we wanted to experience food locally.

It smelled of smoke and the cleaning fluid they had used to try to remove the smell.

The only tiny drawback is that it is right beside the bus station and occasionally the noise and smell of engines was noticeable.

This location was very good in the action a short walk to the Venetian harbour.

Short walk to the old town and easy car valet.

The guy at the front desk Giorgos  even walked us to the Dentist so we could find it easier.

The hotel it is super well located, less than 5 min walk to the Main Street to walk to the Old Town.

We walked to the beach or took the bus a bit further to other beaches.

The location of the hotel was very convenient - just a 10 minute walk from the old harbour and Chania Old Town, and 15 mins from Neo Chora beach.

We enjoy the location of this hotel in the town where you feel part of the local community and yet you’re just a few minutes walk of the bars, restaurants and harbour front.

My favorite was the close walk to the old town.

The hotel location is just perfect allowing you to walk round the city on foot with quick access to the venetian port and the old city streets.

It's just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants around the Venetian Harbor, and we walked there at least once per day.

It was only a short walk to all the sights of Chania Old Town & the Venetian port.

Location is excellent as it is about a 6-7 minute walk to the bustling Venetian Harbor, yet in the center of town.

The hotel is in a good position, just moments walk to the Old Town, and a 12-15 minute to the nearest beach.

But, it was also nice to walk around the neighborhood where the locals live and shop.

Excellent ubication in the center of chania to go walking to visit the town.

Location was also perfect with only a 5-10 min walk to the old town!

I booked the Samaria Hotel for two nights so that I could walk the Samaria Gorge and was very glad that I did.

Location is good with few minute walk from tourist centre and about 15 min walk from 2 beaches.

But not the first night due to our assigned suite being dark, two levels and quirky.

Laying on a sun bed of the terrace; looking around the landscape and the lively motion of the harbor without any intrusive noise; watching the lights and colors changing over the surrounding houses and local people living them , until the dark came,  was such an intimate and touching experience to be difficult expressing.

The furnishings of the room were quite dark

(Triple was a little dark -- only complaint we had.)

To have a shower was a challenge as when the shower curtain was drawn it was dark and difficult to see anything.

However it was very dark, dank and smelt very damp and musty.

The bathrooms were a little worn and the bedding was dark and heavy,

Would definitely come back despite minor complaints [a/c unit a bit weak and bathroom a bit small and dark] as it really is a charming stay whether you wish to be in the action or just step back from it all and relax.

They wanted to be sure we made it back from the Gorge before it got dark.
