Rooms were neat and clean and it is located right on the Old Venetian harbor.

Located right in front of the old Venetian Harbor, you’re right in the middle of action and yet it’s so quiet and peaceful.

The historic location in the old Venetian Harbor is beautiful & uplifting, especially at daybreak & dusk.

Right n the old Venetian Harbor and surrounded by restaurants this is a perfect location for visiting this lovely town.

Excellent location,quiet ,  renovated and tastefully decorated rooms, always perfectly clean offering a great view to the old venetian harbor and the most stunning sunsets.The stuff is extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great, offering a  rich variety of homemade  cretan delicacies until eleven o' clock in the morning with the staff always serving you with a smile.Beds and pillows are new and comfortable, bathroom always perfectly clean.

We had seen the Porto Venetziano whilst walking around the harbour and both of us felt if it was available that we would love to stay there, it just so happened to have availability.

Right on the waterfront, you can just walk out and join the promenade,

Morning, afternoon or night, the atmosphere along the adjacent harbor walk, seawall and lighthouse is magical.

You walk out the front door and you are in the midst of all of the harbor activities.

but plenty to see whilst out walking along the coast.

but right in the heart of things, an easy walk to everything in town.

We spent an afternoon walking round doing this and it paid off.

The nearest one with sunbeds and facilities is a 20mins walk the other side of town.

It is located by Chania's inner harbour, a short walk from the town centre.

The position of hotel perfect for view over the little Harbour and an easy walk to the main.

Walking around the winding streets was great fun and the selection of top quality restaurants nearby was very convenient.

but in the quiet zone , sea front and 3 mins close to the busy side -  walking .

There’s a great beach 10 or 20 mins walk away - water is warm and clear.

The hotel is located very close to the heart of the old venetian harbor,

Hotel samaria is situated on the center of the town in Chania, just two minutes on foot from the old venetian harbor.

The location is great, within walking distance to the old venetian harbor and the city center.

The room was small with a very uncomfortable bed, the hot breakfast which was included was usually cold and not great.

A few reservations: our (standard) room was very small, almost too small to accommodate two, and storage was very limited.

The rooms are a bit small (15m2) so it is better to book a higher category room if you like spacious rooms.

Admittedly our room was a little small on arrival and I asked to move, the hotel manager (lady) moved heaven and earth and provided us with a bottle of champers and fruit in a new room.

This place is ok ~ it is safe, super small rooms & probably best for the 20 to 30 year old crowd that can hang with all the road chatter, engine noise & gas fumes.

although some days our fresh towels smelled like cigarettes.

The suites are exquisite, and the prices do not leave you with a hole burned in your pocket.

On the last day of our visit, I believe the pool must’ve been cleaned as the smell of the chemicals used was very strong.

When the patio door is closed you cannot even hear the busses, and the pool has a great water feature to mask the noise as well.

As a non-smoker it was a bit disturbing that smoking was allowed in the pool area and at the breakfast (outside).

* No means to make yourself coffee in the standard room
* No ice machine in hallway
* Smoking outdoors by the pool

I used the hotel gym and was able to get a good work out in (to burn off all those fried potatoes)

Food- we only ordered room service once as we wanted to experience food locally.

It smelled of smoke and the cleaning fluid they had used to try to remove the smell.

The only tiny drawback is that it is right beside the bus station and occasionally the noise and smell of engines was noticeable.

This location was very good in the action a short walk to the Venetian harbour.

The guy at the front desk Giorgos  even walked us to the Dentist so we could find it easier.

The hotel it is super well located, less than 5 min walk to the Main Street to walk to the Old Town.

We walked to the beach or took the bus a bit further to other beaches.

The location of the hotel was very convenient - just a 10 minute walk from the old harbour and Chania Old Town, and 15 mins from Neo Chora beach.

We enjoy the location of this hotel in the town where you feel part of the local community and yet you’re just a few minutes walk of the bars, restaurants and harbour front.

My favorite was the close walk to the old town.

The hotel location is just perfect allowing you to walk round the city on foot with quick access to the venetian port and the old city streets.

It's just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants around the Venetian Harbor, and we walked there at least once per day.

It was only a short walk to all the sights of Chania Old Town & the Venetian port.

Location is excellent as it is about a 6-7 minute walk to the bustling Venetian Harbor, yet in the center of town.

The hotel is in a good position, just moments walk to the Old Town, and a 12-15 minute to the nearest beach.

But, it was also nice to walk around the neighborhood where the locals live and shop.

I booked the Samaria Hotel for two nights so that I could walk the Samaria Gorge and was very glad that I did.

Location is good with few minute walk from tourist centre and about 15 min walk from 2 beaches.

But not the first night due to our assigned suite being dark, two levels and quirky.

Laying on a sun bed of the terrace; looking around the landscape and the lively motion of the harbor without any intrusive noise; watching the lights and colors changing over the surrounding houses and local people living them , until the dark came,  was such an intimate and touching experience to be difficult expressing.

The furnishings of the room were quite dark

(Triple was a little dark -- only complaint we had.)

To have a shower was a challenge as when the shower curtain was drawn it was dark and difficult to see anything.

However it was very dark, dank and smelt very damp and musty.

The bathrooms were a little worn and the bedding was dark and heavy,

Would definitely come back despite minor complaints [a/c unit a bit weak and bathroom a bit small and dark] as it really is a charming stay whether you wish to be in the action or just step back from it all and relax.

They wanted to be sure we made it back from the Gorge before it got dark.

Our bathroom was on the small side and the shower was quite dark.

The building is nice, the breakfast is nice, the service is nice, we were just a bit disappointed by our room(11) with a view on other windows, the strict minimum in the bathroom, wich was actually very tiny and you have to ahve a shower nearly in the dark because the light is not ok. For the bedroom , the furnitures look a bit old and the matress is not very confortable, too soft, so you'd better have a partner of the same weight than you.

I've read some of the negative comments about the rooms (being dark, bad bathrooms, too small, etc) and I feel I must let people know that the rooms have been recently renovated (in fact we were only the second people to stay in our room) earlier this year and these problems have been fixed.

The hotel is over rated -- no view,  shower is revolting,  dark and tiny,  rooms too light,  curtains not lined to prevent early  morning light.

 Service was impeccable, the room was luxurious and the daily breakfast was outstanding.

This is a first rate small family owned hotel just the steps from the old venetian Harbor Inn Chania.

We stayed in the Presidential Suite, whose terrace has sweeping views of the old Venetian harbor.

This is a very well styled hotel in the old venetian harbor of Chania.

We had the penthouse room, nicely decorated, with a fantastic private rooftop patio overlooking the beautiful old venetian harbor.

Warming: you should be fit enough to climb one flight of stairs, particularly after s good breakfast!

Note that there are no elevators in the hotel, so you will need to climb the stairs to your room (3rd floor max). .

but it was an amazing place with amazing service, (they even made us a breakfast box to go at 4am to catch a flight) and i took full advantage of the free wine on the roof garden overlooking Chania for the one night. Highly recommend (only dont drink too much as you have to walk down many stairs to go to the bathroom in the night)

however not a good idea for families with small mobile children or for older adults due to the amount of stairs in the room.

(We were surprised to discover that it was up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator.

So when you've walked all day, you really don't feel like trudging three flights of stairs just to get to your room, your deluxe suite.

Travellers may like to be aware that the hotel has a large number of stairs and steps, in some cases not very obvious; there is a lift only in one part of the hotel.

Room was rather small and on 2 levels with a tiny balcony that was almost too small to sit on; marble floors and stairs were lovely

Because the floor space was small, the designer used the height of the room (the hotel is located in an old palace) and put the bed on a landing at the top of a flight of stairs.

If you have difficulty with stairs, mention this when booking as our room had 3 flights to access it.

One caution: only one side of the hotel has a lift so, if you are averse to taking the stairs, ask for that side.

but it was impossible to keep the window open because it goes directly to the stairs, people were walking up and down, therefore it was noisy.

but in case you have difficulties with stairs you might opt for a room accessible by the elevators on the other side of the hotel.

Although we are young and healthy, we didn't want to take those stairs again if we didn't have to!

My wife and I recently stayed at Casa Delfino, it is a quaint boutique hotel in a location surrounded by many dining locations as well as a short walk to the port.

Situated in the middle of the "old city" (walking only, no cars), we were escorted to the hotel on a golf cart.

It is a beautiful property and the room was so comfortable--the bed that evening was a very welcome site after two days of flying to get to Crete and then walking about Chania after landing.

Hotel is centrally located and about 2 mins walk from Chania Harbour which is flanked by some fantastic bars and restaurants.

If you have a car, which is very needed in Crete bc it’s so large, there is a hotel parking lot about a 10 min walk away,

He guided us to a parking area 8 minutes walk from the hotel.

and 15 minutes walk to the (slightly overcrowded) beach 

The standards are set high and the team couldn't be more willing.

It is situated in the heart of the old town and great proximity to all the great restaurants and nice boutique shops that are all within walking distances.

From what read, this is the only hotel in the old city that has its own parking lot, 10 minutes walk. .

but they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite which we were walking towards before they realized it wasn’t prepared yet.

it's a beautiful hotel, and the bedding is really comfortable which comes in handy after a long day walking around.

A 20 ft walk out the back entrance leads to some more restaurants and shops.

The beach is around 15 minutes walk and the hotel provide beach towels.

It's an easy walk to the waterfront, shops and restaurants yet secluded and quiet.

First, the personalized service. From the moment that Alejandros zipped down in the golf cart  to the (free) public parking area to welcome us and escort us up the winding streets of the old city and to our room (up the stairs, yes - you may have to actually walk up a couple flights of beautiful marble stairs!)

The hotel is a short walk from the best restaurants and night spots within Chania.

12 days in Paradis, very good beds and pillows, the bathroom is small,

but the bathroom seems to be  renovated in the last few years.

Experience sadly let down by ripped mosquito screen, having to go down to reception to ask for complimentary toiletries supposed to be in the room, also for kettle,

but no glasses or cups, not even in the bathroom

shower could be better ..its small with curtens and shower head is strange .

Rooms above the restaurant can be pretty noisy during midnight (when the restaurant closes).

Mid week, we asked the cleaners to empty our bin and for another toilet roll and this was done immediately.

although the shower is a bit of a challenge.

The shower even had a lower spout for cleaning away the sand between my toes.

but comfortable and clean, only shower with curtain is a bit annoying, it’s hard not to have the water all around the floor, no matter how much you try.

Our only minor gripe was our bathroom, which could do with an overhaul,

The shower temperature did vary a little throughout the day and the shower head would benefit from replacement in our room.

The only downsides were the rooms had a very small bathroom

The down point was lack of hot water at night and a teeny shower .

Room was small with 2 single beds which we had asked for, a fridge, bathroom and balcony with sea views.

however the bathroom is very small and the shower base is very uncomfortable and hard to use, water leaks everywhere.

Although the hotel doesn't have the amenities or the feel of a five star hotel

But there was no hair dryer in the bathroom.

The room had wifi, shower, tv, aircon, balcony with chairs & table & safety deposit box should you need it.

As many people here already reviewed, the bathroom got always really wet when showering because of the low base and the short curtain.

My only downside was the toilet door banged against the toilet it was so small and it was a horrible shower - only because it was old and bit tired looking with a kind of 'past its sell buy date shower curtain' that wasn't inviting and the dogs from next door barked like crazy day or night at anything that moved

The bathroom was small, and it was a little hard to use the wc because there was not enough space when sitting.

The bathroom floor also gets really wet because of the way that the small showers are built

but you can have a wonderful walk to the city center on the seaside.

Access to the hotel is either a very steep hill or a walk across some rough wasteland.

Although most days I walked which was an easy 39 minutes to the old town.

It’s 10 minute walk from a beach which is very convenient.

Is it good for people with walking (wheelchair) disabilities.

Hotel location was just right, short walk to town or beach.

I found it easy to walk into the town center - and a beach was just below the hotel.

Great for walking exercise via beach trail to and from city center.

You may also find, like us, that you prefer to save yourself a walk in the evening and dine at the hotels own restaurant.

The location is really convenient, close to the beach and a nice walk to the city centre.

The hotel location was 25 minute walk into Chania, a local bus close to the hotel was regular and good value.

The beach is an easy 10/15 minute downhill walk and a not so easy uphill walk back :)  The hotel's Theodosi  restaurant is just amazing.

It's about a 30-minute walk to the Old Town, and the walk is along a busy, non-scenic street.

but Nea Chora beach (great organized blue-flag beach) is about a 15-minute walk, or about 30 minutes if you have young kids (as we do.)

The hotel is well situated : in a calm area and at a 5 minutes walk from the sea.

Great location for us out of town so traffic quiet and enjoyed the walks into the old town and harbour.

The hotel is close to public transportation and we walked to the old town in about 35-40 minutes along the water .

Walk into town, follow your map to the sea then take the path adjacent to the water all the way in to Chania.
