One thing of great interest is that the hotel is just two villas away from the fine Venetian villa which Gerald Durrell stayed.

The spa was excellent and we enjoyed our walk to Gouvia where we discovered the Venetian shipyard.

You can walk to gouves in about 40 minutes with its Venetian boatyard

.Corfu town is atmospheric and lovely with lots of great restaurants - try 'Rex' off the main Venetian plaza.

Good pool area, could always get a bed and 2 fab beach areas.

There is an excellent app that allows you check and book one of the restaurants or order room service or even order from your sun lounger on the beach.

From the minute we arrived we felt relaxed, checkin was quick, friendly and efficient, we were shown straight to our room which overlooked the beach where we spent most of our time.

Firstly the positives - the hotel has a great location, a beautiful beach, good facilities and many of the staff are great, especially Leo.

The room, a bay view on the 3rd floor was well appointed, spacious, very comfortable, very clean and the bathroom great shower and exceptional toiletries.

The private beach was quiet and beautiful sea veiw, the water was so clear and warm.

but is wonderfully refreshing for a dip, and watching the sunrise in the morning over the private beach is stunning.

Swimming off the sandy beaches was a delight and the infinity pool one level up was beautiful too.

However, we also appreciated the beautifully landscaped gardens and the clean and tidy beach set up.

The location of the hotel is great, lovely beach and swimming pool.

We ate lunch most days at the beach bar and this was great for toasties, pizzas, chips etc.

but we tended to use the main beach (there are two beaches).

The beach is perfect, sandly crystal clear calm waters.

but I much preferred the bungalows, as it was placed in a gorgeous surroundings and was very close to the beach.

The beach was lovely and the restaurants fantastic.

The bay was very picturesque and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

The pool also offers great views of the beach and ocean.

We were struggling for some beach towels one day and Leonidas went out of his way to sort it out.

Nice walk to the marina that you can see from the hotel.

We only left the hotel grounds twice - once for a morning visit to the beautiful Corfu old town (20 euros each way in a taxi or the hotel has a free bus every morning at 9.30am) and once to walk to the marina.

There is also Gouvia marina which a 15 minute walk or €10 cab and Gouvia town €12 cab.

The main marina is 12 minutes drive which docks all the massive cruise ships which are a bit of sightseeing when you walk around the marina.

Gouvia marina about 15 minute walk, not much around there.

but it seemed to be a main factor for lots of British tourists, we've watched it on our return :)

The walk to the marina, is a great option which we did everyday, usually getting a coffee whilst we were there.

Outside the hotel Gouvia marina is about 15 minutes walk and has a couple of nice restaurants and a great bar serving excellent cocktails called Cygnus, a very relaxing  place to sit and watch the world go by, and if you have one too many you can get an air conditioned taxi back to the hotel for about €8

We took the free bus into Corfu town

but if you walk to the marina that is a lovely place to eat or enjoy a drink and also the walk to the lake area is prettier.

The walk from Kontokali to Gouvia on the road is not very pleasant, again piles of rubbish, dirty pavements and stray dogs, so I would recommend walking through the marina, which is a much nicer walk and about the same distance.

Gouvia Marina is a 15 min walk away where you will find some lovely tavernas and also in Gouvia village itself.

Outside the Hotel there are a variety of places to eat, the Marina is a 15 minute walk away and well worth a visit, we ate at one of the restaurants here one evening and it was lovely to sit and watch all the boats.

Plenty of good restaurants within a 15 minute walk, especially if you walk along to the marina (Olympia Mare and Argo were our preferred in the marina complex).

The roads outside the hotel to walk to the marina are hawful.

The resort/village itself didn't have enough for us and unless you walked to the marina (which was surprisingly very well priced for food and drinks) the restaurants and bars were back street as oppose to beach front.

The hotel is a walk a way from restaurant and nice places to eat (7-10 min to Kontokali town) 
And another town 20-30min walk that you can go on the Marina Bay Area and you will find a cool funck place (Gouvia)

Make time to walk to the marina and enjoy coffee and waffles one morning.

There are not too many places to eat within safe walking distance - we walked to the Marina a few times where there is more choice

However, about a 20 minute walk you are at the Marina with lots of bars and restaurants.

but ten minutes away from hotel in taxi, there is a marina about ten/15 minute walk away but not much at it, and on way home the roads are pitch black with no lighting so could be dangerous.

The rest of the week we walked down to the Marina where there's lots of bars and restaurants serving very good food in a delightful atmosphere.

The staff were amazing, the location, facilities, and food all very good.

Excellent food too in all the fine restaurants, with loads of choice.

We ate breakfast every day which was great, ate in the grill twice at lunch which was very good.

This was the same for both breakfast and dinner we never felt the need to try the speciality ones we had everything we needed.

I had a traditional corfu dish three times when I stayed for room service (pastitsada) you must try this 😍!

The final night we dined at Parea by the Sea, again the food was exceptional as was the service, we both had lamb as a main and it just fell off the bone.

The breakfast and dinner buffets were truly excellent with the choice changing from day to day.

Everything from the food to the room and the facilities was amazing.

We also enjoyed a special table at the Parea restaurant.

The food was variable, the breakfast and lunch buffet was good, the evening meals were generally poor at the buffet, the two a la carts restaurants were ok

There are 2 other restaurants which we didn’t try.

If you want you can also chose two a la carte restaurants and you are given a discount for this.

Nothing major to have issue with, little things that would help - better coffee in the room and restaurants.

The hotel restaurant was nice, we ate dinner there twice.

The a la carte restaurants were excellent.

No more than 3*, old, damp, dark and just in need of renovation in general.

He looked at me with disdain and said you think this is disgusting?.

Cracked walls, stained and very used furniture, the lift smelled (both of them).

The corridor leading to the rooms was a bit shabby and there was always a bit of a funny smell, not sure what this was.

At times needs to be cleaned as there was lack of alcohol hand gels And treadmills has sweat from previous user .

They have many varieties and you can easily and up in a room in which you may encounter various disadvantages as bad view, loud noise (from the street nearby) or bad smell.

Adjoining streets are a real mess with filthy bins spewing out out everywhere.

I guess this was a standard room , not ideal for my husband who has breathing difficulties and those thirty steps were a killer for him.

We also smelt cigarette smoke in our room on more than one occasion which isn't great to be honest.

Kontokali village is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel and I can only describe it as a bit of a dump, very run down with derelict buildings and piles of rubbish everywhere that does not smell very nice at all.

But after this trip, we will burn to a smaller size.

By the way, additionally there is always very strange smell in accommodation facilities.

This morning a terrible smell came through the ventilation way, making complete the picture.

There was a foul smell almost every day during our stay.

but was certainly well below what you would expect from a five-star hotel: the room was small, the bed was really uncomfortable and dark and there was a foul smell of stagnant water in the hallway that the hotel staff tried to mask but didn’t succeed to fix.

There was also an unpleasant moment when the garbage truck came and stunk up the whole hotel.

Doesn't seem to be any designated smoking areas?

but the unanimous response is that smoking is allowed outside by law (the manager welcomed the feedback though).

Whole experience marred by an incident involving bleach on our last day and, had the hotel responded swiftly to my complaint and accepted some responsibility, I would have given a 5 star rating without hesitation.

But the real 'stand out' thing about the hotel were the staff.

The staff of every kind were charming and highly efficient and the accommodation was spotless.

Very disappointing and let's down the excellent staff they do have and who are so helpful and friendly.

Bar service was great the girls and guys always had a smile.

Really friendly staff they couldn’t do enough for you.

This hotel is beautiful the staff are so nice.

Staff where amazing with my sister as she has learning difficulties.

I would highly recommend this resort, friendly staff, great food, nothing is too much trouble, it was sad to leave!

The thing that made the stay extra special was the fantastic staff who were so friendly and helpful they really couldn’t do more for you.

This said the hotel really is in one of the most beautiful spots on the island and the staff are great so we still have it 4 stars.

The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble and the whole hotel is very clean and well organised.

All staff throughout were amazing, and so friendly and always with a smile on their face.

Perfect place to stay with amazing friendly staff, special mentions to Sophia in housekeeping and Aris in Parea restaurant, both so lovely.

Each and every staff member we came across was both kind and efficient.

Location on the sea front was first class you could go down at 10.00 and always find a good sunbed and the sea was really warm.

The main hotel   Infinity-pool was amazing with wonderful views across the bay, never too busy always managed to get an extremely comfortable sun lounger.

The rooms are clean and the veiw was incredible (bay veiw room).

although there was a tree to the side of us, it didn't hinder the view, rather it framed it And the views are spectacular, absolutely beautiful.

Our room had a sea view which is gorgeous, looking across to Albania.

We had 2 rooms bay view rooms, which overlooked the front gardens and the pretty marina in the bay and we were very pleased with them.

We had two rooms, both sea view and the hotel refers to them as bungalow rooms.

but we asked to be moved which was no problem to a more central room (608) which had the perfect view of the Old Town and resort.

The bungalow had a beautiful surroundings and a very large terrace overlooking the sea.

Highlights were the location of the hotel on a  gorgeous beach with easy access to clear calm sea.

The hotel is a in a beautiful spot with stunning views over the Agean.

There was little need to leave this place as everything about it was perfect and I will never forget those views!

The views are just perfect with various areas to do sunbath.

We stayed in a garden view family bungalow which also had a sea view, gorgeous…..
Room was spacious, sliding doors to another area with twin beds where our daughter slept.

The food is excellent and the evening views from the Parea restaurant are wonderful.

The personal are amazing, the view, the facilities, all is beautiful, peaceful and calm.

Lovely hotel, stayed in a standard room which had a beautiful Venetian style with lots of mirrors(!).

You can walk out of the hotel, buy an ice-cream from the shop at the bottom of the steps and walk along the marina looking at all of the enormous boats.

It's a 25 minute walk along the marina promenade to the old part of Palma & there are plenty of places for refreshments on route.

The hotel is a good location - easy to find, close to the airport, about a 40 minute walk from palma old town (beautiful walk along the marina), convenient small, local supermarkets nearby.

The location is excellent,  you can walk to the residential area where you can find local restaurants,  also the historic center is close by,  you can take a walk by the marina and be there in no time

but only a nice 25 min walk along the marina or a €7 euro taxi ride.

Slight walk along the marina to get to the old town for dinner

but the walk along the marina front is well worth it plus good exercise.

The old town is a pleasant half hour walk along the marina.

Good location opposite the marina and about 15/20 minute walk into town,

Evening walks along the marina to the restaurants.

Lovely location over looking the marina and about 20 minutes walk into the centre.

but we walked along the Marina to the Cathedral and old town.

The location is perfect as its a maximum 20 minute walk past the marina to Palma city.

It’s a 25 minute walk along the marina promenade in to town, despite the road it’s a pleasant enough ramble.

Palma feels a very happy city, and two or three times people who saw us studying a street map stopped to ask (in perfect English) if we needed any help.

but didn’t spoil the absolute beautiful view from the terrace and the short walk into palma with lots to do!

This hotel has a wonderful location near the marina in Palma, Mallorca.

Our balcony was HUGE and directly facing Palma Bay.

The rooms are well appointed and well maintained 
The hotel is excellently placed for Palma, just a short taxi ride away and

Great Hotel or rather it was until major building work started on Passeo Maritimo, the whole area is now a massive building site stretching from Porta Pi to Palma and most locals say the job will not be completed until November 2024 or most likely after that.

Depending on why you are going to Palma, and what you want in/from your hotel, you might instead consider a hotel nearer to the old town, perhaps one of the pleasant looking boutique hotels in the old town itself.

Despite the disappointing weather for the time of year, we had a lovely week in Palma.

It's a 7 to 10-euro taxi ride to old Palma.

I’ve stayed at this hotel 3 times and stayed at the Melia Palma Bay, and the Mela Marina,

Lovely Deco, beautiful location with stunning Terrace overlooking Palma Bay and the Marina.

The next day we took a taxi (7€) to Palma city centre and cathedral, which was magnificent.

It is also a pleasant 20 to 30 minutes stroll away from the historical center of Palma de Mallorca where you'll find the majestic cathedral being surrounded by cobbled streets lined with store fronts, both old and new.

On the plus side great location,  another reason I chose it, were the  good views and not as  much Road noise as the Melia Palma Bay.

Palma is about a leisurely 30 minute walk away

I would recommend this hotel to any couple wanting to stay in Palma and would definitely return.

We were so looking forward to visiting Palma for first time, so we booked  Gran Melia Victoria as we had enjoyed our stay in Gran Melia Seville.

This hotel is ideal for a short or long break  Good pool area  nice rooms (some in need of an update)  fab breakfast and  great views  Easy walk (20 mins) to Palma where there are great restaurants    10 mins from the airport so ticks all the boxes for a getaway

How can such a 5 star hotel warrant such an extortionate cost?

although 4 euros is too much to have to pay for a can of water!

If you don’t fancy walking it’s only a short taxi ride into old town costing about 7 euros.

but paid extra 150 euros night - take it or leave it at check-in & a case of upselling!

The only tweaks I would make were that anyone who paid for red level should have either free mini bar or ability to take drinks from the Red Level lounge down to the poolside, or free poolside drinks.

but overpriced for what you get, and should be reclassified as a four star.

The 2-star score reflects a significant shortfall in the value-for-money offered - this was not cheap.

The price to upgrade the room was 253 per person which was ridiculous.

..it is after all why we pay for that privledge. .

If I had one complaint it is the extortionate cost of drinks (4.5 Euro for a small can of water, 6 Euro for a soft drink) which soon adds up.

The main problem with the hotel was the price of drinks around the pool.

The drinks at the pool area were overpriced though.

however at the price I paid I would expect dressing gowns and slippers in the room !

I noted people popping to the cafe next door for drinks and ice creams as there was nothing to be had except overpriced beverages.

Taxis are easily obtainable and are not particularly expensive,

It is extraordinary to be given a room without a balcony and facing the rear of the hotel, this meant being awoken at night by incoming delivery trucks reversing with the resulting noise being really loud.

There was tons of construction which they did not make us aware of and it ruined any type of peace and quiet during our stay.

Unfortunately there was a lot of building work going on at the hotel next door so it was too noisy to sit outside in the afternoon.

I don’t understand the moaners who feel that the building works spoilt their stay, our room was adjacent to the works and the noise was minimal.

but our experience was disappointing due to the noisy building work.

Only two very minor issues - found having to use panel to turn lights on/off and open/close curtains, etc a bit complicated and the roadworks taking place outside hotel were quite noisy at times during our stay (appreciate not the hotel’s fault).

Also, there is a LOT of traffic, wich is not anything the hotel can do anything about,

We all came home tired as the area was very noisey including loud dance music being played at 5am, not the hotels fault

Someone - perhaps the lifeguard - failed to keep some over-excited guests in check, allowing them to loudly takeover the entire area, taking glasses into the pool, and throwing their fully clothed friends in too.

Ear plugs needed at night for the road noise.

In the morning at 7am unfortunately we were woken every morning by the scraping of chairs, tables and benches on the terrace upstairs as they set up for breakfast.

Noise at weekends from the nightclub next door, very annoying.

We chose a room without a view of the sea and heard a lot of street noise.

but kind of noisy as there was a wedding that night.

We have no noise problem from road or night clubs

although next to the lift shaft which was noisy although not too busy as I don’t think the hotel was at capacity.

The pool area is quite jaded in places and the 6 lane road in front means constant road noise.

although the breakfast was very tasty, the selection was uninspiring.

we ate twice on the terrace and the food was excellent also  and service brilliant.

We dined there one evening and enjoyed a good meal.

We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food was very good.

Room service everyday the place was kept immaculate, new water and chocolates everyday!

Breakfast is delicious , huge choice and we ate it every morning on the terrace overlooking the marina .

Khiara, Olympia in the restaurant, Juan from Uruguay, the people in the swimming pool, were all very nice and happy to help if needed.

The restaurant and bar areas are lovely too and food and drinks of a very high standard.

To the waiters in all the bars and restaurants of the hotel, to the receptionist and of course the porters / concierge all try and reach new levels in customer service.

I found the service in most things really good, breakfast was a very pleasant experience, lunch was always tasty and drinks were great

You don’t have to fight for a Sunbed here even at busy times and there is an adequate shaded area….the cocktails are also wonderful.

Most restaurants they recommended were all close bc they did not bother calling first.

A special mention to Daniel who gave great advice on restaurants , travel etc .

The pool area was nice, with waiter service for drinks and  food available by the pool, which was so delicious.
