Although it sounds a negative thing to be located near the bus station, it made it so easy to find out travel information & there was no noise from it due to having such good soundproofing.

It is in easy walking distance to the old city of Chania, and directly adjacent to the KTEL bus station which connects to every interesting destination in western Crete.

Hotel samaria is situated on the center of the town in Chania, just two minutes on foot from the old venetian harbor.

The location is great, within walking distance to the old venetian harbor and the city center.

The room was small with a very uncomfortable bed, the hot breakfast which was included was usually cold and not great.

A few reservations: our (standard) room was very small, almost too small to accommodate two, and storage was very limited.

The rooms are a bit small (15m2) so it is better to book a higher category room if you like spacious rooms.

Admittedly our room was a little small on arrival and I asked to move, the hotel manager (lady) moved heaven and earth and provided us with a bottle of champers and fruit in a new room.

This place is ok ~ it is safe, super small rooms & probably best for the 20 to 30 year old crowd that can hang with all the road chatter, engine noise & gas fumes.

although some days our fresh towels smelled like cigarettes.

The suites are exquisite, and the prices do not leave you with a hole burned in your pocket.

On the last day of our visit, I believe the pool must’ve been cleaned as the smell of the chemicals used was very strong.

When the patio door is closed you cannot even hear the busses, and the pool has a great water feature to mask the noise as well.

As a non-smoker it was a bit disturbing that smoking was allowed in the pool area and at the breakfast (outside).

* Smoking outdoors by the pool

I used the hotel gym and was able to get a good work out in (to burn off all those fried potatoes)

Food- we only ordered room service once as we wanted to experience food locally.

It smelled of smoke and the cleaning fluid they had used to try to remove the smell.

The only tiny drawback is that it is right beside the bus station and occasionally the noise and smell of engines was noticeable.

Very central and 5 minutes from the bus station, and it’s a great location for the town centre.

The hotel is literally 5 mins walk from the old town and harbour, right in the centre and near the bus station.

Restaurants, taxis, bus station; and I managed to walk down to the harbour on our last morning.

The other reason is access to the bus station which we used almost everyday to go to the southwestern beaches and on our last day to go to Heraklion to take the ferry to Santorini.

This hotel has the great advantage of being a short walk from the bus station and an easy walk downhill to the harbour.

I can definitely sat that there is no other better location in the city, in particular, hotel is near the bus station and bus stop, just 2 minutes walk from the hotel, which is super convenient, 1 minute walk from the supermarket, 2 minutes walk from the old harbor and lighthouse.

but clean and perfectly functional, the air-con was effective, and breakfast was OK. Not many facilities, but good value for money and centrally located - handy for the bus station, and within easy walking distance of the harbour and old town.

The hotel is very conveniently situated, close to the bus station, the old town, Venetian harbour and lots of good tavernas.

Trips were easy to organise as hotel was a 2 minute distance from  bus station (KTEL).

Unfortunately the rooms aren't soundproof and you can hear music and honking from the street.There was some construction when we were there and we also heard that very well.

However it was very noisy at night with a 24/7 bakery open just across the road.

At the beginning, I got a room on the low floor, near the street, it was too noisy and at the following night, they replaced my room to quiet one at the backside in upper floor.

Negative : breakfast cold and basic, view of the room is the back of a building (at least our room), basic beds , thin walls ( very noisy), limited parking space.

The noise from the hallway is too much, as the doors do not fill the doorgap - see picture.

but with my earplugs in and the pillow over my head i almost couldnt hear them.

but maybe a bit noisy in the summer months.

Larger and, bien sur, dearer rooms 15 sq meters are overlooking the square which can be a bit noisy at night.

Other reviews have commented on the street noise--we did not find that a problem and slept soundly--we did notice that lots of people are out really late into the early hours of the morning having fun.

If you like a quiet room in which to sleep, you will have to ignore the buzzing from the electric key-in-the-slot (or remove it) the whirr of the aircon, (unless you can do without it), and the hum of the fridge (which can also be unplugged).

but noisy, due to hudge traffic in the street or to the maids in the corridors.

but it was extremely varied. And we received a little parting gift from the hotel (something simple, a small olive oil bottle, some soaps and shower gel, all made by a local company with a heavenly smell!!!)

Right in the centre of the action - opposite the old market, 5 mins from the main bus station, 5 mins from the harbour and old town, perfect for popping back and forth if needed.

First of all, the location is great for walking to the harbor, many shops and restaurants and the bus station.

Once hiked finished, took ferry to Sfakion and return bus to original bus station!

I would highly suggest this hotel: it's only five minutes from the old town area and eight minutes from the main bus station.

The hotel is in a really central location, we arrived from the airport via taxi and when we checked out, we walked several blocks to the local bus station with our rolling suitcases, not a bad walk.

This hotel has great location and is within walking distance to the main bus station for trips to Samaria Gorge (over an hour) and Heraklion (about 2 and a half hours).

The hotel is located at the heart of Chania town, no more than a 10 minute walk away from all major tourist attractions, as well as the central bus station.

Its in the middle of town and very close to the bus station, which I used to get to the Chania from Rethmyno and I used it to go to Samaria Gorge.

Cons: road noises are quite bad if you are light sleeper, carpets are very out dated and stains.

Only thing I would suggest is refurbishing the rooms with hard flooring-the carpet is dated and stained and just not in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

but the carpet is way overdue to be changed.

My only complain is about aged carpets resulting a dirty impression on the floor.

On a v small note carpets just outside elevators could perhaps be renewed as belie this fab hotel!

The only comment I had was the hallway carpets were full of stain otherwise I could have an 5 star ratings.

The only negative is the condition of the carpet throughout the hotel.

THE BAD: Tiny room, view of the parking lot, stained carpet, tiny (albeit clean) bathroom (with a half glass door which I hate).

Only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is that style-wise this hotel is in need of a guru and a make over, especially the carpets and the small bathrooms need seeing to soon.

The only reason why I do not give Kydon a 5 star review are the hotel's carpets.

Filthy carpets, can hear hallway noise from rooms, and service is poor.

A new/clean carpet plus a tea/coffee maker would have been more in keeping with a 4*.

Very good hotel if you want to be in the heart of the city and very close to the old Venetian harbor.

but, the bathroom was small and the shower was very cramped.

The only minor complaints I have is that our bathroom was tiny.

First room we got was a "standard " room and had a tiny bathroom and looked out on busy premises across a narrow street,

The ONLY reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 was that our room was on  the street side and it could be a little noisy during the morning and evening traffic times, AND the bathroom was small with very little counter space - it was a bit of a juggling act,

It is located in an old harbor, approximately 15 min walk from a bus station.

Aside from the amazing harbor, you are in a prime spot with the best restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shopping, and the bus station all within walking distance.

We walked to the hotel from the bus station as we arrived from the airport.

Close to the town centre and 15 mins from the bus station.

The rooms were renovated, with contemporany decoration, and cleaning was ok. Distances are also convenient from the bus station (final stop of the bus from Chania Airport): taxi only 5 Euros, with a big bag !

but it is still an easy walk from the main bus station (15-20 minutes)

Front office and maid service was very good.

The front desk gave us a warm welcome when we arrived the hotel by walking from the bus station.

The bars and restaurants are between a 1 to 15 min walk, bus station was 15-20 min walk, the staff gave us fresh beach towels every day and they were absolutely great and very helpful all the time.

The bus station is only 15 min walk from the hotel, and bus service was very good organized.

Walking distance to everything in the city, including the main bus station.

Location wise it was a perfect base to start our travels, at the quiet end of the harbour it was 10 minutes from the nicer restaurants and 20 mins to the bus station if you wanted to go further afield.

The bus station for busses that take you out to other towns was about a 20 minute walk and the hotel gave us excellent directions.
