but I emailed them multiple times the next day and even had the courteous staff of the hotel in Chania (Arkadi - highly recommend) call and the staff of Kronos did not acknowledge any of my emails until I had a friend back in America call.

The hotel is a short 10 or 15 minute walk from the bus station and close to the ocean and for the price, it can't be beat.

5 Minute Walk to Lions Square in the Heart of the City and about 7 Minute Walk to the Bus Station and any point on the Island.

We chose Kronos because we wanted to be near the bus station, ferry port and central Heraklion.

We were able to walk to the bus station (to visit Knossos) and the port (for our ferry) and also to walk along the harbour wall which is absolutely flat for prams and cyclists.

Bus only cost 1.20 euro to bus station A which was about 5 mins walk to hotel.

Great location (walkable to ferry port and bus station) with rooms with a view.

The Kronos Hotel is ideally located on the seafront, a 5 – 10 minute walk from both the bus station and ferry terminal.

Excellent position near restaurants, town centre and the port bus station.

The bus station is a 5 minute walk away where you can get coaches and local buses to lots of different places for very cheap!

I had some difficulty finding it when walking from the bus station

but close to sea, museums, city centre, bus station.

Good location within walking distance from the ferry port, bus station and very near the main pedestrian street (25 Avgoustou).

Central location close to the Venetian Port, Ferry Port and Bus Station A (where printed Timetables are available and from where buses go East & West of Heraklion City, so easy to visit other places on the island).

A bus to Knossos was only a couple of euros and the bus station is right next to the port.

The staff are helpful and always had a warm welcome  The hotel is very well located adjacent to the harbour and only 500m from the bus station.

Five minutes walk from bus station and a definite for us or now on or our last day here , a real luxury to be able to do,last minute packing , shower , change , snooze in a nice place before the taxi to the airports.

The first night we were there, there was a strong odor of smoke in our hallway

One thing that was strange is that the bathroom window opens into the hallway.

carpets in hallway a bit on the used side and need replacing.

Another funny thing is that the bathroom window opens into the hall- so if you want to air out your restroom use.

The hallways were always unlit and you have to grope to find a light switch.

Some might find the bathroom a bit strange - our bathroom window opened out on to the main hall and the door of the bathroom was actually a frosted glass swing-door which was shorter than the frame.

I will note that one of the rooms on our floor had the bathroom window facing into the hallway which made for some "strange" (read: smelly) walks to-and-from our room.

I didn't exactly love the smell of tobacco in the lobby and hallways,

The rooms had a certain smoky aroma about them which was very strong in the hallways and lobby area (but everyone smokes in Greece it seems!).

We wanted to see the Knossos archeological site, the children wanted to swim and some of us wanted to see the museum.

It's very appropriate for families with kids also.

When I arrived late at night (11pm), it was so comforting to be greeted by the owner Costa and his daughter.

We found reception staff abrupt except  owner's daughter who new how to smile and was pleasant.

His daughter - Maria was super friendly as well.

She even help my wife when it was time to prepare dinner for our son.

The couple and daughter saw to all our needs, answered any questions including travel plans,made sure we had parking for our rental and all in all were very pleasant.

We stayed in this hotel at the beginning and end of our Crete travel (due to our Heraklion based flight schedule)
The staff (We met the hotel owner and his daughter) was very helpful, we had good restaurant recommendations, and very important help on parking our car.

He and his equally helpful and computer-astute daughter helped us with finding information, making bookings and sending emails on the hotel computer.

Great location in Heraklion near the sea.

Although single room, it has very nice, close up view  to the sea.

This hotel really has a good location, close to the sea and close to the centre.

Fantastic views of the harbor and walking distance to many places in the center.

Although the hotel has only basic and clean rooms we loved this place on so many other levels: 

- Location: fronting on the ocean near Venetian Fortress, ports, airport, restaurants and walking street)
- Staff:  great customer service and a willingness to provide information and support 
- Views: the amazing sunset and sunrise over the fortress are beautiful

A simple breakfast can be purchased for 6€ and will provide you all you need from eggs to fruit and yogurt.

Very near to the sea (and the Fortress), the city center is also not far.

We were fortunate in finding the Kronos Hotel, which is located close to the Sea Jets ferry dock, many of Heraklion's historic archaeological digs, and the fort.

This hotel is nicely situated near the sea, the fortress, the harbour and good restaurants.

The location is perfect - close to the sea and an easy walk from the town centre.

And it's only a 10 minute car ride away from the airport.

Also the ferry port is only a short 5 minute taxi ride away.

Taxi hint:  The hotel will call a taxi for you to the port (a short 5 minute ride away) for 8€ or you can walk behind the hotel and grab one for 6€.

Hotel is a 10-15 min cab ride to the airport and is close to the ferry.

Can walk to everthing and 5 minutes from ferry and 10 minute taxi ride to airport.

It is also a short taxi ride to the ferry port.

Acceptable budget hotel about a 5 minute cab ride to the ferry port of Heraklion, which is an old city with not too much charm

And when we asked for tips on getting to the airport or how to ride the ferry, they seemed to just say the minimum to get of us and to stop asking questions.

Overall, Kronos is a good hotel to stay at - near port (EUR 6 for a cab ride), good view of the sea/sunset/castle, nice and helpful staff who provides suggestions for visiting, many restaurants and shops nearby. We got some extras as they knew we were on honeymoon - thanks for the hospitality :)

Flying in to Heraklion it was great to get a 5 minute taxi ride to this hotel.

We had a sea view room with a stunning view of the harbour.

The rooms are comfortable and the bed was better than I expected in an older hotel.

What we got was a very clean room, with a view of the harbor, and a comfortable bed.

This is a small family hotel with some rooms overlooking the harbour.

I could open the top of it though, to let fresh air in the room.

All the citybreak boxes are ticked - buffet breakfast good enough, room clean, beds reasonable, shower ok, a room safe in the room, aircon, and helpful reception.

On our last stop, we stayed in room 201 which was the better choice of our 2 rooms.

The rooms are clean and OK and have airco.

The rooms are clean, and the hotel has a beautiful garden and a pool with a bar.

The staff are very pleasant, the room was spotless (with very good hot shower), and there was a good range of breakfast buffet.

The room was large, great shower and nice and quiet.

Take a room with a sea view. The room is big enough and have everything you need( there’s a safe, minibar and hair dryer)

We had an large oceanside room with a large bathroom and great shower!

The staff is very helpful and attentive, the room had really good air conditioning and a comfortable bed.

Room 402 (or any 02) have a great view of the fortress and ocean.

We were very satisfied with this hotel because not expensive, we had a room with sea view, breakfast included, etc.

the bathroom in my room was also very small, this is the only discomfort I had.

The room was a little on the small side and the bathroom unit was quite cramped,

-ves:
1. extremely small room (was in room 305 and could not walk around easily). 2.

We get into the room the smell was awful.

And, the strong scent of cleaning products was definitely present in the bathroom area.

However, it seems pretty outdated and the room had a funny smell.

Our room had the tiniest sink in the world, with paint peeling off the bathroom fixtures, a ratty, old bedspread, and a faint aroma of smoke.

In the comments field we specifically asked for a non-smoking room with sea view and a double bed.

The wall was ripped up, the shower grotty and it had a the most insidiously awful odor I have ever smelt.

In addition, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Lots of great things to say about the service and assistance..location was also convenient to buses,dining and sites.

Nikos, the manager of the place, received us kindly in the rush of traffic, helped us to park despite the difficulty and treated us in a charming way, helped us understand the city, highly recommend him.

The staff try so hard to make sure you have everything you need.

Reception and check out were fast and efficient.

They opened the breakfast early for us so we could eat before our flight which was very kind.

The refrigerator is clean and at the arrival you can find 2 bottles of water for free as a form of hospitality from polite staff.

The staff are lovely, very pleasant and always find someone smiling and helpful in the reception.

The reception area is comfortable and has a view on the sea.

The friendly staff made that all happen with help with directions and taxis.

It's a very nice and quiet hotel, with friendly staff.

I recommend also booking a tour out of the town into the region's villages and up the mountain to the Arkadi monastery.

Dont go with the tour companies as the local buses will take you to Chania, Heraklion, the South Coast and the amazing Arkhadi Monastery which is not to be missed, believe me.

We had one of the older rooms, the space was a little tight, especially the bathroom.

The bathroom laudably displayed the usual green/eco policy for towels

The exception was the bathroom which was dated and tired. Having said that, the hot water supply was unfailingly excellent (which is not always the case in Greece.)

though the shower is in a small bath and could be improved.

The toilet didn’t flush well and it got clogged few times.

Bathroom was old (toilet had scratches on the seat ).

It was veeery old with horrible bathroom and toilet.

The bath was very narrow and the shower over it was a bit tricky to use because of this.

Only big negative thing for us was the shower.

The rooms are noisy: the insulation is bad and each time your neighboor goes to the toilet you have the feeling there is a leak in yours.

Probably the slightly small bathrooms and slightly outdated room furniture stop it being a 4.

Infact the shower had rain shower and head handset with a sliding door!

Only small remark is to the position of the shower wall holder – it was exactly in the range of my eyes.

2 other rooms had a narrow bath unsuitable for sitting in with an overhead shower which made the bathroom floor wet.

Bath tab was a bit small and not easy to take shower in (was a bit narrow, easy to slip and fall).

And of course the shower curtain as with all shower curtains!!

The hotel is a bit dated, and the family room and bathroom was a bit small (but replacing the bath by a shower could fix that).

though and sometimes you can hear the public hotel toilets flushing.

The location is great for exploring the island - the hotel is located in the old town, near the fortress, which is not far from the bus station.

Lots of places to see with local bus station within short walking distance.

The hotel is located about 15 minutes walking time from the bus station and it was an easy find.

About a 10 min walk to the bus station to take day trips to  Chania.

The bus station is about a half hour walk away with good I formation and plenty of places to visit by local transport.

Ideally located near to beach (20 minute walk), near bus station for exploring and two minutes from the old town which is beautiful and conducive to lovely strolls amongst the little shops at night.

The bus station is a short walk away from the hotel and can be easily accessed either by walking on the paved side of the main road or by walking through the old town.

Secondly it is a good place for exploring central Crete, either taking car hire or using the bus station  which is walkable.

The hotel is also conveniently placed for the bus station which is a pleasant 15 min walk along the seafront, from where you can explore other parts of Crete.

the trips that they offer there are also great, we went on a trip ourselves to chania which we travelled from the local bus station which is just a walk away and then we went on a landrover safari aranged by thomas cook and it provided a real insight into the culture, we had such a laugh aswel with the tour guide Stavros.

While we were in Crete we did quite a lot of snorkelling and despite going to Gramvousa, Balos and Plakais the best snorkelling we found was right outside the Hotel Ideon along the rocky coast to the bus station.

We then got the bus to Hania, which stops at Rethymnon bus station.

The hotel is in a great location beside the old fort and right beside the Old Town with is great many shops and 100's of restaurants and about a 10 minute walk along the coast to the bus station if you want to explore further without a car.

Its only 20 minutes walk to the bus station, which offers a service to all sorts of places on Crete.

There's ample parking (for May anyway) nearby, the bus station is easily reached and yet head the other direction and in a minute you're in amongst the heart of the city.

The bus station was about 5 minutes walk from the Ideon.

Get the local bus from the bus station to Chania (6 euros) or Agia Galini (6 euros) on the southern side of the island or Heraklion then onto Knossos (13 euros) The buses are coaches and very comfortable and cheap.

The bus station is about ten minutes walk.

The staff were all attentive and friendly.

We saw a few familiar faces, in the restaurant, still very friendly and remembered us on our third trip to the hotel.

The hotel itself is a very high standard and I would think qualifies as a higher rating than a 3*

The Ideon hotel was just a wonderful place to stay for our two week holiday.

This was our 2nd visit and we made to feel special, receiving a welcome drink & snack delivered to our room and at the end of our holiday we were presented with a very thoughtful gift of a beautiful keyring & mobile phone case to remind us our fantastic & happy holiday .

but just enough for us obviously they made the most of the space when building hotel ,Manos the waiter was great he was such a lovely man he couldn't do enough for us and was great a getting us beer and cocktails plus our daily greek salad and there unique style of chips 😀 so thank you Manos it felt like we were mates by the end of holiday , the breakfast was always good its not what I would have back in UK but IM IN GREECE !!!

We just got back from vacation at the Ideon Hotel.

After seeing Ideon will open made very fast decision to have holiday.

The cocktails were the best we had all holiday, we were even given free ones on occasions.

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday, as always.

All depend on the type of holidays you like.

We have just returned from the holiday in Crete.

We have just had a great holiday in this hotel, right from the start we experienced a lovely welcome which continued throughout our stay.

All staff were attentive, polite & ensured our holiday was perfect.

Our good friends had booked this hotel for a weeks break and we decided to join them.

.but a great place to stay for a holiday.

Arrived back from our second holiday at this lovely Hotel last night and already booked for next year.

My wife and I had a package with Olympic Holidays from Manchester.

Fantastic cocktails at the bar and pleasant space outside.

Really great hotel, great room, great food.

It's ideally situated close to the beach and to the heart of Rethymno with all its cobbled streets and gift shops, restaurants and bars.

We had a room on the side above the adjoining Arbona restaurant with balcony with sea view and recently refurbished and updated.

Food was amazing and different varieties so there is something for everyone.

Not knowing what to expect after the pandemic I shouldn't have worried, fantastic and clean hotel with staff always cleaning and always with a smile on their places, good bar prices and the breakfast was fantastic with more than enough to eat, a hotel in the right place at a good price.

The breakfast buffet has an excellent choice of food.

Breakfast and evening food had a wide choice and plentiful.

Manos exceptional in his new role as restaurant manager, totally had everything under control for breakfast ensuring all guests were looked after & happy, well done on your new role & all good luck..

Amazing people working there, especially in the restaurant.

Breakfast was serviced buffet so was able to choose what I want buy member of staff was collecting the food for me.

Breakfast and evening meal of high standard.

Watching the restaurant boss in a morning is worth the entire trip.

But we also went to the terrace and restaurant itself.

I really wouldn’t recommend you opt for dinner, there are so many lovely restaurants in the old town that it would be a real shame to miss out.

It is in an ideal location beside the old town and fort with some amazing restaurants within a stones throw.

Pool was very small and all of the sun loungers were always taken.

but the pool is small ; you can refresh but not swim - on top always crowded.

The pool was small with sun beds situated very close together to allow as many as possible which is not ideal if you are a non-smoker.
