It's just a 15-20 minute walk to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion which contains many artifacts dug up from the Palace of Knossos and elsewhere on the island so well worth the time.

We chose the Lato because it is very near the sea wall walks, the ferry Port, as well as the Archaeological Museum, the bus station, and just about everything else,

In a neighborhood, with a profusion of restaurants and tavernas, the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Heraklion's main tourist attraction, the Archaeological Museum, with its astonishing collection of Minoan artifacts.

within walking distance to Lions Square aka Hondos Shopping Center (a Pedestrian Mall), Morosini Fountain, National Archaeological Museum.

The Lato Boutique staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal: just a few blocks from the Archaeological Museum and the bus out to Knossos, and an easy walk to the cafes and shops in the old-town.

It was within easy walking distance to the archaeological museum, the harbor, the historic area, and was two blocks from the bus station from which the bus to Knossos leaves.

Well situated to both harbour and centre, and the magnificent archaeological museum, the Lato also has the most professional and polite staff you are likely to meet in Crete.

Location is perfect: easy walk to harbor, Kallergon Place and archaeological museum.

We’re also a few minutes away from the central bus depot for intercity travel and Knossos and a couple of minutes away from the bus to the beaches which is at the door-step of the archaeological museum.

The Archaeological Museum is only a 15 minute walk away.

The centre of old town is a short walk away, as is the archaeological museum.

A great location on the centre, walking distance to the main sights as well as the Archaeological Museum, a must, the nice tavernas at the beach, etc.

About ten minute walk up to the center and the Archaeological Museum.

We stayed here on our way to Santorini, and found it a perfect hotel for the ferry port, the old town and the archaeological museum.

Only 5 minutes walk to the ferry terminal, 10 minutes drive from the airport and eight or nine minutes walk from the fantastic Archaeological museum, the hotel is well located.

Also 10mins each from bus station to get to Knossos palace and fantastic archaeological museum.

We were close to some excellent restaurants which were within easy walking distance as was the port and the Archaeological Museum.

The next morning, the hotel was wonderful in helping us chart our day, acquire our rental car, and manage our suitcases around our visit to the archaeological museum and Knossos.

Easy walking to the pier, the Archaeological Museum, city centre, markets and shopping.

I will most definitely visit Heraklion again, just to experience this all over again!

Overlooking the old Venetian harbour and castle, the Lato Boutique Hotel is perfectly placed to look out over the sea and an easy walk into the centre of Heraklion.

We have stayed there many times and it makes a convenient stopping off point for a few days when we fly into Heraklion.

Traveling to Heraklion for business quite often I have tried a few hotels in the past and now I have found my hotel for my trips to Heraklion .

Nice and easy going hotel very close to the main square of Heraklion with easy parking access.

We will commend it to our freinds and when we come again to Heraklion we shurly will stay there!

The upstairs restaurant lived up to its reputation as the place to eat in Heraklion.

The balcony had a view of the harbour and fort it was also very big.

Hotel is situated in a great spot with a nice harbour view.

Take the KTEL bus to Chania 15 euro’s -go after lunch and go early so if the bus leaves at 2:30pm go at 2 pm and you will get a great seat- sit on the left side of the bus as you enter you will get sea and coast views.

Bedroom suite very comfortable & had beautiful view of harbour & Koulis Castle.

We definately recommend it if you can spring for a harbour view.

We had a nice clean room with a nice view over the old harbour and the castle of Heraklion.

Brilliant location and wonderful views of the harbour.

Although when on the balcony you can hear the traffic and planes once you close the doors the room is completely sound proof.

The room looked untidy with some hairspray stains on the bathroom door and sticky surfaces.

We were there several days and could never determine why we constantly heard slamming doors.

but extremely noisy… we could hear, the cars, the planes and people next door.

The railings, the elevator, the doors and rooms.

but once evening came or when the balcony doors were shut, we heard nothing.

We had a harbor-view room, which meant a teeny balcony with a low partition from the room next door - when our neighbor also came out on his balcony, we were inches apart and had a lively conversation!

Rooms do get noisy if rowdy guests go up and down corridors due to Poor door Insulation.

There was a lot of noise from the floor above and the banging of doors through the night echoed throughout the hotel.

The only negative was the state of the bathroom which could be cleaner as far as it concerns the walls of the douche and the bathroom and the door which were dirty.

but if you only want a drink you can’t sit with a sea view, you have to sit in a lounge area looking at the building next door.

Small balcony with two chairs and a small table, possible to open the balcony glass doors for fresh aid and to dry laundry on!

Bathroom a bit small, difficult to open door and get in / out, especially with someone else inside.

However, what decreased the quality of our stay was the fact that some so called athletes, a Greek football team in particular, was also staying there.They were shouting and banging doors all night long.

Door to bathroom/toilet was placed in awkward position such that you will need to move to the shower end in order to close/open the door.

Additionally the elevator was right outside the door.

but the next day we had the same problem to open the door.

In order to use the toilet, we had to close the door and squeeze into the corner.

The hotel location is close to the waterfront, fortress, shopping streets, four-lion fountain, and several important museums.

Hotel is centrally located and close to everything - airport, ferry port, Main Street with restaurants/bars, archaeology museum.

The location was perfect for seeing museums, churches and for restaurants and shopping.

This year, unfortunately we have had a small room in the annex of the hotel, no balcony and quite hot, at a low floor.

Quite small rooms and the colour scheme of yellow, red and dark wood made it feel dated.

We had a boutique room with veranda overlooking the port,marina and fortress,although the room a little small it still offered all the usual extras,mini fridge robes etc.

The friendly and welcoming staff at the Lato Boutique Hotel also added to this 'taste-orgasm'.

Check out was speedy and a taxi was called by reception and was there in 3 minutes.

Walking into the lobby felt like an immediate step up.

It is also very close to city center (5 mins walk) and close to many many restaurants and is just 7 mins walk to Port if you wanna catch a Ferry.

A fantastic hotel in a lovely pace overlooking the historic bay in Heraklion, extra large beds and fantastic chambermaids that checked the room several times a day , fresh bedding and towels !

We stayed 3 nights at the GDM Megaron.Very central location on the Venetian Port and close to the Heraklion Town Centre.What a great hotel-impressive rooms and public spaces.Our room (Junior Suite)overlooked the Port.The Bed was super comfortable.Very relaxing.Don’t miss (a)the daily breakfast which is outstanding and (b) the 5th Bar Restaurant.Lovely views over the Port at night.Plus fantastic quality Cretan dishes like Feta Saganaki.Not to be missed.

The rooftop swimming pool, albeit small, was refreshing, clean and delivered beautiful views of heraklion.

During our memorable trip in Heraklion, we had the distinct pleasure of residing at the Megaron Hotel.

Definitively the best hotel in Heraklion and maybe the best in Greece.

The location is very close to the outstanding Heraklion Archeological Museum with its wonderful collection of Minoan artifacts and the sea view from our Balcony was delightful.

I returned to this wonderful hotel for a second time this year and stayed for three weeks: absolutely the best way to enjoy Heraklion and the north shore of Crete is from this superb property.

The hotel was also an easy walk to the spectacular archeological museum.

We stayed a week and found it a fantastic base for Knossos, there is a bus if you wish that does a tour and you can hop on or off, the museum is a couple of hundred yards from the hotel and fantastically laid out with the exhibits in order of age , we also visited phaistos and hagia triada , the ancient harbour fort is also well worth a visit and retuning to a lovely hotel made for a wonderful stay as well .

We only stayed for one night as we were visitting knossos, the fortress and the museum.

Wonderfully friendly, spacious and clean, modern, quiet and uncrowded even when full, good location for the Knosos Museum, great view over the harbor.
