It's just a 15-20 minute walk to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion which contains many artifacts dug up from the Palace of Knossos and elsewhere on the island so well worth the time.

We chose the Lato because it is very near the sea wall walks, the ferry Port, as well as the Archaeological Museum, the bus station, and just about everything else,

The Lato Boutique staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal: just a few blocks from the Archaeological Museum and the bus out to Knossos, and an easy walk to the cafes and shops in the old-town.

It was within easy walking distance to the archaeological museum, the harbor, the historic area, and was two blocks from the bus station from which the bus to Knossos leaves.

Well situated to both harbour and centre, and the magnificent archaeological museum, the Lato also has the most professional and polite staff you are likely to meet in Crete.

Location is perfect: easy walk to harbor, Kallergon Place and archaeological museum.

We’re also a few minutes away from the central bus depot for intercity travel and Knossos and a couple of minutes away from the bus to the beaches which is at the door-step of the archaeological museum.

The Archaeological Museum is only a 15 minute walk away.

The centre of old town is a short walk away, as is the archaeological museum.

A great location on the centre, walking distance to the main sights as well as the Archaeological Museum, a must, the nice tavernas at the beach, etc.

About ten minute walk up to the center and the Archaeological Museum.

We stayed here on our way to Santorini, and found it a perfect hotel for the ferry port, the old town and the archaeological museum.

Only 5 minutes walk to the ferry terminal, 10 minutes drive from the airport and eight or nine minutes walk from the fantastic Archaeological museum, the hotel is well located.

Also 10mins each from bus station to get to Knossos palace and fantastic archaeological museum.

We were close to some excellent restaurants which were within easy walking distance as was the port and the Archaeological Museum.

The next morning, the hotel was wonderful in helping us chart our day, acquire our rental car, and manage our suitcases around our visit to the archaeological museum and Knossos.

Easy walking to the pier, the Archaeological Museum, city centre, markets and shopping.

I will most definitely visit Heraklion again, just to experience this all over again!

We have stayed there many times and it makes a convenient stopping off point for a few days when we fly into Heraklion.

Traveling to Heraklion for business quite often I have tried a few hotels in the past and now I have found my hotel for my trips to Heraklion .

Nice and easy going hotel very close to the main square of Heraklion with easy parking access.

We will commend it to our freinds and when we come again to Heraklion we shurly will stay there!

Take the KTEL bus to Chania 15 euro’s -go after lunch and go early so if the bus leaves at 2:30pm go at 2 pm and you will get a great seat- sit on the left side of the bus as you enter you will get sea and coast views.

Although when on the balcony you can hear the traffic and planes once you close the doors the room is completely sound proof.

The room looked untidy with some hairspray stains on the bathroom door and sticky surfaces.

We were there several days and could never determine why we constantly heard slamming doors.

but extremely noisy… we could hear, the cars, the planes and people next door.

but once evening came or when the balcony doors were shut, we heard nothing.

We had a harbor-view room, which meant a teeny balcony with a low partition from the room next door - when our neighbor also came out on his balcony, we were inches apart and had a lively conversation!

Rooms do get noisy if rowdy guests go up and down corridors due to Poor door Insulation.

There was a lot of noise from the floor above and the banging of doors through the night echoed throughout the hotel.

The only negative was the state of the bathroom which could be cleaner as far as it concerns the walls of the douche and the bathroom and the door which were dirty.

but if you only want a drink you can’t sit with a sea view, you have to sit in a lounge area looking at the building next door.

Bathroom a bit small, difficult to open door and get in / out, especially with someone else inside.

However, what decreased the quality of our stay was the fact that some so called athletes, a Greek football team in particular, was also staying there.They were shouting and banging doors all night long.

Door to bathroom/toilet was placed in awkward position such that you will need to move to the shower end in order to close/open the door.

Additionally the elevator was right outside the door.

but the next day we had the same problem to open the door.

The hotel location is close to the waterfront, fortress, shopping streets, four-lion fountain, and several important museums.

The location was perfect for seeing museums, churches and for restaurants and shopping.

We had a wonderful week in the suite overlooking the harbour and  fort.

Despite price increase still one of the best deals in Greece when you want a real exclusive room with view on the port, excellent bed, excellent huge breakfast buffet and one of the best roof restaurants in Greece where Babis and Emma give you excellent service.

Nice view of an archaeological site in island across from the resort which gives the sea view character beyond the usual view of sea for similar resorts

One of the biggest archaeological sites I have come across and one you can actually walk all the way round without any barriers.

Location: as I mentioned earlier, the resort is tucked in the north-eastern part of the island facing the famous Spinalonga island (it is about 1 -1.5h drive from Heraklion airport).

The hotel is just over an hours drive from Heraklion Airport.

The hotel is located 1 hour and 15 mins from Heraklion airport, near a small village of Plaka.

Fantastic holiday and hotel, most of all the staff at the hotel made it special, a big thanks to Elizavet who made it special for the family (explained in detail below)

Transportation from the Heraklion airport and so simple and easy for us.

We had the hotel arrange transportation from the Heraklion airport and the transfer was seamless.

Concierge arranged transfers to and from the airport in Heraklion, in a roomy sprinter van.

We arrived to Heraklion from London and were picked up by a very executive looking and extremely comfortable airport transfer mini-bus.

An easy flight to Milan from Heraklion airport.

We went on a trip to see the Knossos Palace remains and afterwards to the Heraklion Museum.

Blue Palace is a 50 min drive from Heraklion airport and is built along a stunning hillside with enviable views of the impressive Spinalonga Island.

(Excellent restaurant suggestions and helped steer us to a fantastic day touring Heraklion and the Palace of Knossos and the Archeological Museum there.)

The hotel is about an hours drive from Heraklion airport.

We ate at the Italian restaurant on the hotel property once which was just okay (slow service)
I would recommend this hotel in terms of location, also easy to explore around eastern Crete from here. Also recommend renting a car which makes exploring the surrounding area much easier (can be done at Heraklion, or on site)

PS: we were offered VIP fast pass at Heraklion for 40 Euros each – if you hate airport queues then this is a must!

The Blue Palace is about 1 hour away from Heraklion Airport so the hassle free comfortable pickup is well worth it.

If you are looking for a very special place to retreat and relax, stop your search and jump on the first plane to Crete (close your eyes as you pass through Heraklion airport, which is possibly the worst airport in the world. ).

Connecting buses ate available to other destinations including Heraklion Airport. Overall.

Also recommend a trip to the main city Heraklion and Chersonisos (for shopping and entertainment).

The staff on the front desk are courteous and very professional and keen to help in any way to ensure that you have a great holiday, the same goes for Ultimate Guest Serices who went out of their way to book the premier lounge at Heraklion for our return journey which as it turned out took all the stress out of flying back home.

We stayed for 5 nights in the middle of June and were very impressed with this hotel which is situated around 70 minutes drive from Heraklion airport.

We watched the boats delivering visitors to the island many times whilst we were having our coffee on our terrace.

We visited Spinalonga island which was excellent, you can get a boat ride from the hotel and they will pick you up once you've seen enough.

All dives where a short boat ride and better than we hoped for, we were able to see ancient amphora (pottery) and even got inked by a few squid.

The views into Spinalonga were spectacular as was the walking tour right from a boat at the resort.

We also did a wine tasting which we enjoyed thoroughly and booked a 2 hour boat picnic excursion which was also an amazing time!

but large stones but there are nice wooden decks to the loungers and also to the jetty’s for boat access or going in the Aegean.

There is a small village nearby – Plaka, which offers some restaurants (hotel is quite happy to recommend restaurants in Plaka) and a few shops, plus regular boat trips to Spinalonga island.

The Blue Palace is situated 4.5 kilometres north of Elouanda, and about 500 metres south of Plaka, the latter being a small working port village with a pleasing selection of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, as well as boats that make the eight-minute crossing to the popular tourist destination of Spinalonga.

He arranged a boat for my birthday which was a suprise from my wife than hired a cab to get cigars and food and on and on.

We rented a boat to drive around the bay.

It is just a short boat ride to see the island and worth a visit.

Water sport facilities are brilliant and we enjoyed our daily water sports and boat trip to Elounda.

Plaka has a number of lovely restaurants and bars and we got the boat from there over to Spinalonga for I think 10 euros.

We rented a small boat for a couple of hours and enjoyed exploring the islands and swimming.

The mornings was the highlight of the day, admiring the beauty of the island, the soft sounds of the little fishing boats and the fantastic aqua-blue see.
