We booked the pet-friendly unit as we travel with 3 dogs, and the enclosed courtyard ensured they were safe and could roam in the fresh air after a day in the car.

The room- sleeping 4, was beautifully decorated and spotless, and the closed courtyard perfect to keep the dogs safe.

We were travelling with our big dogs and were looking for a safe place to break our journey with an enclosed courtyard /garden so that the dogs didn't have to be on lead all the time when outside.

We traveled from Cape Town to Joburg and arrived just after 3 on Sunday afternoon.

We stayed only one night on route from Cape town to PTA, with our cats and iut was the best place to stay.

The best thing is that they are there to meet you after a long trip from Cape Town or Johannesburg with a smile and absolute efficiency.

The Barracks is a superb hidden gem in Colesberg that we used for an overnight sleepover during our drive from Joburg to Cape Town.

We overnighted at The Barracks on our way to Cape Town, and

It is still an outstanding place to sleep over on your way to Cape Town or PE/Jeffreys Bay (from Johannesburg).

We stayed here overnight on our way home to Cape Town.

emerging from the harsh lockdown we decided to drive to Cape Town rather than fly and needed to break the trip into two session.

Awesome hosts, great rooms and all round fabulous stay in-between Cape Town and Jozi  :) I arrived with a welcome glass of sherry to take off the travel buzz, a lovely conversation with their husky dog in their cozy gardens - he's got lots to say = which made me miss my fury children even more - they even have a pet friendly room for those traveling with their fury children - just fyi :)

I will definitely break my  Cape Town to Johannesburg journey there again.

A very convenient place to stay midway between Cape Town and Johannesburg/Pretoria.

We were directed where to go for dinner in town, which was a quick walk.

Close enough to walk into town and see some old buildings and churches.

Due to the fact that 3 persons were staying over we were alocated one bathroom

Due to a turned over pantechnicon i arrived rather late - i called whist waiting for the mess to be cleared up through to the accommodation to advise about the delay -The hostess , Bianca   was most accommodating , like it used to be when your patronage was appreciated .

Boy oh boy I was wrong, despite arriving almost 2hrs late due to trucking convoy we were greeted warmly.

Loved the message to shower in the evening as due to the icy weather, there might not be hot water in the morning, due to burst pipes!!!

Our arrival was met with a nice, friendly greeting and we were pleasently surprised by the standard and cleanliness of our accomodation.

but refuse to pay me back my rate due to COVID test - I find this conduct unacceptable and want a refund from LightHouse to be paid back to me.

I then requested if they would be willing to give us our money or some back as they lost nothing and we had to pay for another room for the night plus expenses for our car.

We even paid in full and did not receive any refunds.

The WiFi did not work neither did the computor in the office so I had to go and draw cash to pay for my accommodation

I asked her if she was going to transfer our funds for the room to that guesthouse in Richmond, she said no we will have to pay the guesthouse and unfortunatley we will forefeit our funds (and either sleep on the road) for the initial booking with her.

She charged me R200pp extra and I undertook to pay it the next morning, which I duly did.

however don’t support the breakfast, its overpriced for real low quality (no love at all) food; however its very uncomplicated and a safe place.

The Herb garden is slightly more expensive

Not good value for money, cost us roughly the same per night as 11 other places we stayed on our 3 week trip which were all far superior.

I slept over at the Lighthouse on our way to Mosselbay and found the service and accommodation of an excellent standard.

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Adri.

The venue is spotless and Adri is a superstar as a host.

Later the day of the 12th December a Booking.com staff member contacted me confirming that LightHouse cancelled our booking and that should we decide to arrive there for the night - that they resold the room and is fully booked.

We arrived very late at the lodge and Maretha was very kind to open for us and take us to our room.

We are pensioners and would have liked an answer to my e mail even if just sympathizing.

The host was very helpful and assisted us greatly.

Very kind man stopped and helped to arrange 2 brand new tyres that evening.

Maretha was very helpful on arrival, and took care of all our needs.

The Die Kleipot Guest House is near to this landmark: Colesberg-Kemper Museum

but due to COVID-19 restrictions could not offer dinner.

Over December we stayed overnight on two occasions, the first where they accommodated us due to a late cancellation.

We were really a bit disappointed with the reception, almost died of heat and had to be moved to a 'sharing' room and no refund was offered due to the rooms not having fans!

We stopped here on our way to Bloem for a wedding and due to the road works arrived REALLY late.

The ease of check-out also assists with early departure and the reception is allways friendly.

The receptionist was welcoming, friendly and offered suggestions for restaurants in the area.

Noma was very friendly and most helpful and it was so nice to walk around the lovely garden.
