The beach is great with all the fish swimming around you.

We were aware that the hotel required a card against which it services could be charged during our stay.

The only downside during my stay is that I was overcharged on my credit card and had to follow-up with them to get feedback on the refund.

I called a few days prior to my stay and he was dismissive and his tone of voice is not something that should be in charge of answering phone calls.

The front desk staff missed to charge the lunch we just had as it was too recent so i told her to include it into my bill which she was grateful for.

She said the transaction didn't go through.

There are very few outlets to charge our devices, with none on the bedside tables, such that my husband and I had to take turns charging our phones every night in the desk, and our daughter, who was catching up with her classes online while on an opposite time zone, had to do it in their bathroom.

As the only 5* hotel on Cebu it doesn't leave much of a choice, perhaps this is why Shangdi La feel like they can get away with charging extra for absolutely everything.

But now it has gone down south to a 3.5 resort with old rooms, charge for everything philosophy, uncontrolled yelling kids resort, long lines at breakfast, hard selling tactics at front desk during a long very long check-in

Lets start with check-in: Awful! Long!

However, I personally would recommend that you look elsewhere because, while the Shangri-La is no doubt a beautiful and prestigious hotel, the quality of service and especially the food does not quite live up to its billing.

but there is a charge for a bottle of water at the pool!

(strange argument considering that room charges are also much higher during peak season. ).

The latter was charged as “kids pasta with meat balls”

- Dining not great if you need Gluten Free; 
- Charge for everything, even a splash of milk for your tea.

During busy times you will easily wait 30 minutes for your turn and at every visit so far there have been erroneous charges on the bill which is annoying and spoils the check out experience.

Until I discovered they over charged my by 16k pesos I had to go back and they gave me a refund

What I didn't know when we ate there is that this place is authorized to charge about 33% tax.Of course, if you don't ask, no one will tell you.

but this is the first resort we have seen which charges extra for kids play area.

When my wife put me in charge of picking places to stay during our trip to the Philippines, I hesitated on selecting the Shangi-La due to its price, especially relative to other properties.

They charge 5,000 pesos for an 1 hour massage.

The kids facilities are top notch, our toddler enjoyed it every single day.

We had a perfect stay, as expected the rooms, food and beverage offerings and facilities were all top notch.

We had a great stay with my partner, we enjoyed the food, the pool area is beautiful also the ambiance.

I've been here for several times specially before pandemic I can say they wwre able to maintain the beautiful ambiance of the whole resort what a great job to housekeeping, landscape maintenance team and most specially to the superb service of the pool life guard Nelius whos been doing a superb 5 stars service like before you ask for a hotel the towel is already in your hands i  never experienced that on my Shangrila resort visits even in Boracay, Makati and Edsa Shangrila keep up the amazing job Nel!

Further our rooms view from the balcony is the sea and the pool area which is a nice way to relax while just sitting in.

I wish they keep the beach, resto and pool open till late that said Shangrila Mactan will be my home when in Cebu.

They also have attention to details even in the pool area.

This includes the snack bars, the pools, the restaurants, the kids entertainment complex, almost everything except a lobby bar.

The Ocean Wing pool is now open to all guests, and as such gets busy, especially for the loungers with parasols.

especially when the hotel was already pretty empty I reported this on two occassions including face to face and the staff did not seem to understand english very well, for a 5 star hotel this was terrible Finally received a call asking if we wanted to move, we were only there one day and this call came in at 9pm at night 

Food at breakfast and dinner was excellent if pricey

Other than the outstanding breakfast buffet, our dining experiences were quite average, and quite expensive.

Put a sour note on the trip for me I expect to pay premium prices for service,food and drinks etc

However, the price of the mud crab that we ordered was not transparent on the menu.

Given the price point of this hotel, I cannot recommend this hotel to the demographic who could afford the rates.

I reviewed the hotel policy and it says nothing about this, the policy about visitors is that they cannot stay inside the room past 10pm and if they stay beyond 10pm they need to register and pay the extra person fee.

Two problems with this visit: (1) the food was poor - Shangri La seemed to be cutting down on costs by delivering cheap street food.

Morning came and we all had breakfast at Tides since the room only came with 2 free breakfast for 2 adults, we readily paid for the nanny's breakfast.

We paid 20-30 pesos more for each I think.

For the price I was paying, I was expecting a bit more high end.

After 10 minutes of the receptionist being on the phone, she informed us that we would get driven to the airport for no charge (which is not exactly accurate, because we actually had prepaid for that airport shuttle in our room rate).

However the rooms are very tired fro a 5 star hotel and you have to pay for everything!!

We were offered compensation of a reduction of a said amount per night (turns out the compensation was in fact the room rate difference between a sea view and “garden view” ) Therefore this was not a compensation, it was quite simply the difference in room rates!

I really having hard time to understand the prices for country as Philippines (most of the people here need to say "good buy" to no less then 1 month salary for 1 night stay.

but I have been to other Shangrila's, and I paid a lot of money for this trip, which lasted a week.

Unfortunately you have to PAY by hour for everything.

The food at the breakfast buffet looked to be far and away the best offering we received by any of the four hotels we stayed at during this trip.

Food is good as well, I suggest have your breakfast before 7:30 the queu is quite long after that.

My partner and I talked at length of how excellent the service was well after dinner.

From the jumping fish in the sanctuary to adventure zone slides to the various water parks, kids will surely love shangrila.

This being said, the Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa is still a good hotel, it’s just not as great as it used to be.

The spa is this hotels hidden gem, its vast, one of the biggest I've been to.

I also opted to do a massage at the spa which was phenomenal.

It was our last day in Cebu when we decided to take our extended Filipino family out to dinner at Shangdi-La resort and spa for dinner.

if you want bigger room (still for 2 people only) you will say "good buy"  to a lot of money. The services of the hotel (spa , massage.  )

My kids came here for their  bonding time last year everything was perfect and to be honest we've been recommending this Hotel/resort to people who wants to visit Cebu from Maryland USA   me and my husband will come visit the Philippines again next year and will definitely book Shangri-la Mactan Resort and Spa again !! !

I had a couple of massages which was great.

Had the Chi spa signature Philippines massage and it was excellent.

A picturesque resort in every corner, poolside, beachfront, marine sanctuary, spa, eco trail. etc.

On a hindsight, the spa treatment was great

The staff said that its very rare that they can get taxi around 3 am and said that they don’t have available vehicle as well.

but weekdays was ok, we enjoyed sitting on the terrace and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The employees are very kind and friendly.

Every staff went out of their way to greet you, from the gardeners to the managers.

Boracay and BGC anticipates your needs while Shangrila Mactan staff are very reactive and complacent.i

The staff throughout the property was extraordinarily nice, polite, and helpful.

They didn’t bother to notify that it has been processed already.

We were greeted with welcome drinks of local ‘kalamansi’ juice which was very refreshing.

I would like to commend that their staff like Mr  John Bacatan has a high IQ and fast grasp of the details  of my stay.

I would like to commend the  Room Reservation Team for handling  our accomodations efficiently last July 12-14 despite the huge volume of guests( as we  were part of a big event ).

This is like our second home, the warm hospitality and welcoming smiles, make it harder for us to leave this place, so worth it!

Hotel was stunning and the staff were amazing then went to the hotel shop for some sunscreen and the shock at 2500 peso for something that was under 750 anywhere else in Cebu.

The Shang Mactan team exemplified true hospitality.

Their rates are reasonable (I call it affordable luxury), and the staff very helpful.

Wi-Fi and hot shower/tub works and great view of the sea.

Our room was clean and spacious with a great view of the ocean.

We also had lunch by the beach and we had the best front view of the high tide.

(coz we observed that it’s lacking again)

Overall, we still love staying here and looking forward the Ocean Wing will be available.

Also, the sea is rocky so you need to  wear special footwear in order to enjoy.

I also thank the reservations team for upgrading my room to a Seaview room.

The room was nice, with balconies on two sides and lovely views.

My wife and I are pleased, impressed, and thankful that we chose Shangri-La Mactan Ocean Pavilion for our wedding reception and availed of the Wedding Package, which was the best decision ever since we made most of the service 360 degrees, all things covered.

So in short the exclusivity that Ocean Wing guests are paying for, has largely been taken away, which is unfair on us paying guests, who don’t mind paying extra for this, and also for the staff who have to try (and fail) to justify these obvious downgrades in service offering.

We made friends with them and have casual chat every time we hangout at the pool esp those pool staff in Ocean Wing.

we had ocean club room where evening nibbles and drinks were plentiful as was breakfast .

Apart from providing a pleasing sea view, an excellent buffet breakfast and comfort you'd expect,  we were surprised by the number and variety of fish to be seen when snorkeing from the private beach.

All of this we were happy to overlook because the staff (other than HK) was simply magnificent.

We were celebrating our Anniversary and Sir Mark mentioned it to Sir Eric who surprised us with a delicious cake to our beautiful room overlooking the romantic pool.

I just wanna share my experience, July 27 to August 1 naka check in ako sa quest with free breakfast and since day 1 na nakastay ako at kumain sa buffet grabe yung bait ni Kuya Eric, he is asking if may gusto paba kami?

If you prefer salted eggs with tomatoes, salted fish or anything local like puto and siquate, they have it.

At the Breakfast Buffet, Lara, our waiter, is most helpful with our needs.

The hotel’s location is perfect as it is just across Ayala Center Cebu.

The location in just walking distance in Ayala Center, where you can roam around if you are board.

Excellent location few steps away from Ayala Centre, very central.

Because it is close to almost all tourist destinations in the city, the location is very strategic not only for those traveling for business

Convenient location close to everything as well as a good buffet breakfast.

Facilities are good, centrally located and has a superb accomodation.

The hotel is centrally located in Cebu city.

Room was noisy:
Windows were not sealed

They allowed noisy wedding entourage to stay next to us.

Only downside was that the walls are too thin - you can hear whats goin' on next door and outside.

Now, who can answer the call if you can’t hear the ringer (faulty) their IT guy tried repairing .

3)	 When we got to the room it was sealed off with a tape that ‘claimed the room had been sanitized.’  After a few minutes of adjusting our belongings we discovered a pillow ‘that was obviously used’ and had an old pillow case still on it.

Note: Bed headboard was noisy during my sleeping.

There was traffic from airport so it took about 1hr 5minutes to get to the Hotel.

Rooms weren't too noisy and WiFi connectivity was great for general browsing, emails and downloads.

Took us 2 hours travel going to the Hotel due to heavy traffic.

Traffic is not good in the area and will take you some time to get to the main entrance drop off.

Soundproofing of rooms are bad, can hear people talking, doors closing etc.

Unfortunately, there is a busy street and the windows are not very sound-proof.

Will be very noisy even at night if your room is facing street.

My daughter became sick directly off of the plane.

but there was some noise because it was a city.

We were woken up one night at 3AM due to noisy drunk neighbors and a quick call to reception sent security to patrol the floors after the neighbor got two warnings that were not heeded.

It is in a fairly crowded area, with lots of traffic and people,

Cindy the reservation manager coordinated our two room stay to be next to Ate and baby for our special occasion.

The food was superb and they will even assist you to get a Taxi.

5 star for your service food, staff and room cleaning  specially ate vaniza ocampo ,mildred codera and ate carmela .

the food also excellent in taste and presentation.
