There is no lift so you need to be comfortable with stairs.

Also, be aware that there is no elevator, so you will walk the equivalent of 4 stories every time you leave the room to go out of the hotel.

We were on the third floor and the hotel has no elevator

We were told in advance that there was not an elevator (so it was not a surprise).

but not sure if there is an elevator here and we sure try to avoid schlepping our bags up so many stairs!

The pool is heated so nice on a bit chilly days.

Although we were out of season all services (heated pool, sauna, gym) were fully functional.

Very well equipped rooms and to use the heated pool after a day walking to Portofino was a joy.

The facility has a spa area, with a sauna, fitness center, heated pool.

This is one of the only pool which is truly heated and most enjoyable.

Everything about the hotel is just perfect, even the small therapy pool which is heated to about 85 degrees.

A small pool is on the hotel roof with a lovely heated jacuzzi aswell .

Not to mention jaccuzzi heated pool with all the bells and whistles, comfy sundeck.

Thoroughly recommend the roof terrace room that has enough space for 2 Sun loungers, small table and chairs and large outdoor bath tub with gazebo for ultimate privacy.

The breakfasts on the outdoor terrace were a beautiful start to our fun filled days visiting Portofino by bus, the Cinque Terra by train, San Frutuoso and Camogli by ferry and the beach by foot.

It was very nice to be able to cool off in the pool and then just walk downstairs to a fabulous gourmet meal on the lovely terrace.

Buffet Breakfast on the outdoor terrace was plentiful and good quality with a lovely smiling waitress.

The breakfast was wonderful with plenty to choose from and we sat outside on the terrace as the weather was lovely as was our short stay!

A beautifully located hotel overlooking the beach and town of Rapallo.

Very friendly front desk staff, nicely designed, recently refurbished junior suites with a breathtaking view across the bay, brand new bathroom, perfect aircon, lovely rooftop bar, valet parking (on a public parking lot though), minutes to walk to the well-kept privately managed beach.

but we are here during Rapallo’s major annual festival - Feste Di Luglio which has included ceremonial things like fireworks on the promenade which have been incredible.

Clean tidy rooms in a central location are important

The rooms are immaculate and newly renovated.

The room was spotlessly clean and large with a comfortable king bed, a sofa and plenty of storage space and a large desk.

Keep in mind the beaches “close” in October.

The hotel is a classic beauty with very nice interiors quaint rooms and a stunning view across the bay.

We loved our off days spent at the beach and the pool area.

It is important to note that the beach is public-

The location of the hotel is great. An easy walk to the town or to the beach (right across the street.)

It is the only beach area in Santa Margherita or Portofino to speak of.

Our beautiful room looked out over the Ligurian Sea and the coastline.

We were blessed with brilliant sunshine and therefore able to experience all the outdoor offerings from the pool, to the outdoor terraces, to a beach stroll, to the splendor of the park and the sentimental walk. We highly recommend staying at the GHM, whether it be for a couple of nights (one night would be such a tease!)

We particularly enjoyed the beautiful pool, and the beach.

though it is a tourist area like the Amalfi coast, it is filled with Italian visitors enjoying the lovely seaside passegiatas and lively appertif hours we had come to love.

We loved going across the street to the beach club and swimming in the Ligurian Sea.

The Ligurian coast, with its mild winters and semi-tropical flowers, used to be a favourite for English and American travellers

We enjoyed a few days at the pool and a few days at the beach club.

The room we received in 2019 was a room half the size of the room in 2018 (which was a downgraded room).It was so cramped we had to put a suitcase in the bathroom in order to maneuver around the room.

That matters a lot to us as we rely on restaurant recommendations and in this case advice on the complicated train trips to and from Cinque Terre.

A case of food poisoning due to bad seafood from another restaurant in Santa Margherita prevented me from having dinner here.

These days international hotels of a similar standard offer bathrooms that are very elegant and comfortable, sadly this is not the case here.

but don't do it if you are with suitcases.

Unfortunately – as is often the case – the hotel has limited parking available so charges EUR25 for the privilege.

Downside was that the website mentioned a heated pool which unfortunately was not the case.

but with a little chlorine added (I suppose just in case).
