Excellent room, clean and with comfy beds.

This is a relaxed and comfy hotel, clean and tidy, would have been five stars save the unhelpful bar and restaurant staff.

Comfortable if small room with adequate bathroom.

The room was spacious for a family of 5 and beds were comfortable.

but the rooms were comfortable and the location was very convenient to nearby tourist attractions.

We had a premium room due to our group size and it was large, clean and comfortable.

The hotel provided a very nice clean comfortable relaxing stay for me and I would stay here again here’s a list of the room amenities that I took advantage of.

On a positive side, the bed was comfy (but the room was overlooking the car park).

The hotel bar was deserted when we came back from dinner, despite a friendly member of staff.

Pool area and amenities were spotless and all staff were super friendly and very accommodating such as my family member I was traveling with needed to store her medication in fridge and take it out every evening and this was made so simple by staff and they showed us where to get buses also.

However the hotel rooms are small, dated and in bad repair.

Our room was small and over furnished with items from an old folks home.

It was so small we had hardly enough room to place our luggage AND then to walk around the bed.The view was non-existent as we were on the ground floor and looked onto bushes, quite closely.

On first impression, the rooms seem a bit small and the windows are small too.

)Room was quite small, with a very small window, so the room felt dark all the time.

While the room was somewhat small, it was very clean despite definitely needing a bit of an uplift.

Our room was quite small and required some little attention, the standard lamp was not working, the window curtain was not fully fastened up and the wall safe (we've never encountered one like this before) would not open.

On the downside, our room was very small with only one chair and the plastic cups and very flimsy plastic 'glasses'  were unsatisfactory.

This is such s pity as they let the rest of the staff down.

This is a pretty standard Mercure, a short walk from the Cite, with plenty of car parking.

The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the Carcassonne castle so after dinner we took a stroll up there.

The hotel is situated just a short walk from the old city and the fortress.

Lovely hotel beautifully situated for visiting Carcassone City, 5 minutes walk.

It is less than a 10 minute walk to the Cité and well worth going there to explore.

I only booked this hotel because it was a 4 minute walk from the Carcassonne old city.

We statyed for one night in mid August, We were attracted by the proximity to the castle and it didn't dissappoint as it was a 5 minute walk away from the main entrance.

Great hotel, just at the bottom of the medieval city; just a 10min walk up the hill.

We could see the city walls from our window and it only took 5 minutes to walk to the city walls.

Really handy to walk up to the 'Citadel' and down into the lower town.

However, our room was on the third floor (the ground floor is floor 0), and there was no elevator, so we had to lug our luggage all the way up four flights of stairs.

and there is no lift - I didn't find this an issue at all

One small note whilst not an issue for us there is no lift and the stairs are a tight curved case

However there are no lifts so it may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues.

We were on the top floor, 3 flights of stair, 60 steps, no lift.

One disadvantage is that there are no elevators and the stairways are narrow,

Room 20 is on third floor (no elevator), with window to look up at the walled old city.

There is not a lift in the hotel so ask for a room on the first floor if you have trouble climbing stairs.

The one downside were the stairs and no lift.

There is no elevator and luckily we were on the 1st floor which we commented on.

The only downside would be the lack of elevator and at time the ac was a bit noisy..  would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to our friends.

Although the rooms are all upstairs and the hotel does not have an elevator, Jean Michael took our luggage up and made sure everything was in order after we checked in.

The only weakness was the lack of an elevator -

The owners are most welcoming and so friendly, providing recommendations for restaurants, which we took avail of, and we were not disappointed with any.

It is located on a street with  lots of cafés and restaurants, and during peak summer there is a weekly 'night market' on Thursday evenings which is a bonus.

Hotel du Pont Vieux enjoys a fantastic position, it is just a nice walk to the ramparts of the Medieval City.

Hotel du Pont Vieux benefits from its location to access both La Cité and the ‘new’ town.

but they quickly fixed the issue once I reported. My room was on the top floor (where the terrace is located - the view from there alone makes it worth staying at this hotel!)

For those who wish to visit the wonderful and justly famous medieval city of Carcassonne, the Hotel du Pont Vieux is very conveniently located just a couple of hundred metres below the ramparts.

We were very pleased with our experience at Hotel du Pont Vieux!

A short walk across the Pont Vieux takes you into the new town should you feel the need to visit.

We stayed here for two nights on a French road trip in our small sports car. The hotel is in a truly excellent location close to the Pont Vieux (I guess the clues in the name!)

Hotel du Pont Vieux is located within walking distance of the walled city.

but I'm glad I went with the Hotel du Pont Vieux instead.

(no through road after 11 apart from residents)  and it is lined with restaurants, bistros and little bars.

but preferred a quick croissant and coffee over the road.

Lovely cosy hotel, the small road the hotel is on has limited access the council close it for certain parts of the day. .

We ate breakfast at a great small patisserie across the road rather than the hotel.

We may return if we make a summer road trip as the region has so much more to offer.

We didn't take up the offer of breakfast, as there is a perfect patisserie right across the road, which does gorgeous pain au chocolate, as well as lovely sandwiches which are great for taking with you for lunch.

The castle is about a 8 minute walk to the right, and then take the end road to the right.

We ate twice at Le37 which is across the road, traditional French restaurant and very reasonable.

We didn't venture too far that night for a meal, opting for No37 just across the road which was very good.

Free public parking down the road was a real bonus.

Located across the Pont Vieux, along Rue Trivalle , this is an ideal location - being walking distance from the train station (about 15 mins, there is a bus if you have luggage) as also La Cite (about 10 mins up a winding road to the Porte Narbonnaise entry gate).

Further up the street on the left, across the road, is a restaurant opening at night.

There is secured parking 20 yards down the road, and our room overlooked the street from the top floor, an ideal viewpoint for the bustle below.

In July 2019, we found it to be super-modern (though as usual, the rooms are tiny) with spanking clean and updated bathrooms.

The room was a bit on a small side for two persons,

The room itself was small (with an adjoining small room for our little girl)

I stayed in the triple, which had a room with a queen bed and a small room with a twin bed. The double room and the bathroom (!!)

- Tiny room, only just space to walk round the bed and that was it.

It was a tad small and yes the room and bathroom would benefit from a little makeover,

In my eyes deserve at least 4 star, owners helpful and charming, simply amazing.

but I wrote a direct email asking for two nights and on arrival, Catherine, the owner had jiggled things around in order for us to stay the two nights.

I am extremely grateful for their kindness when I was in a desperate situation.

The staff (I think it’s a husband and wife team plus one) were brilliant with directions, help with parking and dealing with my very bad French.

The bell ringing hourly was lovely and added to the charm of the village.

Run by a husband and wife team, it was clean and fresh and charming.

The owners were very helpful and even allowed us to store our luggage for a few hours after checking out.

Really enjoyed this hotel and the owners were especially kind.

It was a real work-out, and if you have issues with stairs you may want to request a room on a lower level.

Stairs are steep so probably not ideal for the unfit.

but after checking us in, the owner promptly lugged our heavy suitcase up the stairs to our room.

Our room was on the top floor up a couple of flights of steep stairs.

While there is no elevator, the owners Jean Michel and Catherine were quick to help carry our luggage up the stairs.

We had to lug our suitcases up a twisty flight of stairs, so keep that in mind if that is an issue.

There was nothing wrong with the hotel and the large number of stairs likely contributed to my cardiovascular health,

There is no lift so the luggage has to be carried up and down stairs.

even though you still have to carry your luggage up the stairs (be aware if you are on the top floor).

No lift so older people might find the stairs a drawback.

but this is not a problem providing you can manage stairs as the owner will carry the case up and down for you.
