Excellent room, clean and with comfy beds.

This is a relaxed and comfy hotel, clean and tidy, would have been five stars save the unhelpful bar and restaurant staff.

Comfortable if small room with adequate bathroom.

The room was spacious for a family of 5 and beds were comfortable.

but the rooms were comfortable and the location was very convenient to nearby tourist attractions.

We had a premium room due to our group size and it was large, clean and comfortable.

The hotel provided a very nice clean comfortable relaxing stay for me and I would stay here again here’s a list of the room amenities that I took advantage of.

On a positive side, the bed was comfy (but the room was overlooking the car park).

The rooms were nice and clean and very comfortable, to the usual Mercure standard.

The staff were vey helpful and cheerful (especially the young apprentice in the Dining Room)
If you want a conveniently situated, comfortable and peaceful stay in this lovely region, I heartily recommend the Mercure.

However the hotel rooms are small, dated and in bad repair.

Our room was small and over furnished with items from an old folks home.

It was so small we had hardly enough room to place our luggage AND then to walk around the bed.The view was non-existent as we were on the ground floor and looked onto bushes, quite closely.

On first impression, the rooms seem a bit small and the windows are small too.

)Room was quite small, with a very small window, so the room felt dark all the time.

While the room was somewhat small, it was very clean despite definitely needing a bit of an uplift.

Our room was quite small and required some little attention, the standard lamp was not working, the window curtain was not fully fastened up and the wall safe (we've never encountered one like this before) would not open.

On the downside, our room was very small with only one chair and the plastic cups and very flimsy plastic 'glasses'  were unsatisfactory.

Literally 5 mins walk from the old walled city.

This is a pretty standard Mercure, a short walk from the Cite, with plenty of car parking.

Excellent location, only 5-6 minutes walk up to Carcassonne.

The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the Carcassonne castle so after dinner we took a stroll up there.

We had a great experience at this hotel from the moment we walked through the front doors!

The hotel is situated just a short walk from the old city and the fortress.

Lovely hotel beautifully situated for visiting Carcassone City, 5 minutes walk.

It is less than a 10 minute walk to the Cité and well worth going there to explore.

I only booked this hotel because it was a 4 minute walk from the Carcassonne old city.

We statyed for one night in mid August, We were attracted by the proximity to the castle and it didn't dissappoint as it was a 5 minute walk away from the main entrance.

Great hotel, just at the bottom of the medieval city; just a 10min walk up the hill.

We could see the city walls from our window and it only took 5 minutes to walk to the city walls.

Really handy to walk up to the 'Citadel' and down into the lower town.

Negatives: small rooms, no fridge, no plug in bathroom, bedside light hanging off the wall, very rundown, pool tiny and freezing.

One problem was the smell from the bathrooms, really eggy, bad drain odour - we had booked in for 4 nights and had to ask to move rooms as it was overpowering and made it difficult to sleep.

A product in the drain of the shower would be the solution they said.

The toilet was conveniently located separate from the bathroom.

Room 2 the toilet flush had fallen away from the wall room 3 actually had a flood during the night so we had a bucket and towel switched off the AC and continued  our interrupted sleep.

Plus, rooms are really small and so are beds and bathrooms.

What has been built is poor quality and is poorly finished [I will endeavour to provide photos as evidence to follow], there are handrails coming off walls, door locks failing for the main room entry door, stressful issues with noise from a/c units, door handles squeaking, taps leaking and big holes and cracks in plasterboard walls that are only weeks old.

In the shower, the shower hose was not fixed right and water escaped from it.

- HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM INATTENTIVE STAFF AT THE RECEPTION!!!!

The next day the water in the shower was lukewarm, lots of other people complained about that, the breakfast was poor, no salad or fresh fruits, the elevator is super slow.

Negative note we found was the shower water, not warm enough.

(There was barely enough space to close the door once sitting on the toilet!)

The room was small and the bathroom and toilet cramped and out-dated.

One odd feature in our room was that the bath and sink were not in the same room as the toilet,

There was no space to put your toiletries in the bathroom and little space for our luggage.

Quirky hotel in a great location with stunning views of the old city, particularly at night.

 hotel ideally placed for visiting the city.

Situated on Aude River looking towards the medieval city.

I called the title, modern and funky as that's pretty much it with it's set-up and offerings and it is a super location to visit the Medieval City of Carcassonne, which has stunning views from Tribe with the bar, swimming pool and rooftop terrace all overlook this stunning Citadel.

A good hotel ideally situated to easily visit both the Ancient and modern city of Carcassone.

This meant that we had easy, walkable access both to the walled city and to the lower town.

We checked in rather late (9:20PM), and Patrick, who was manning the front desk, was extremely welcoming and pointed us to a few dining places in the old city.

Ideal location between the old city and newer centre.

The hotel is directly across the street from the bridge leading to the medieval city, which is within walking distance.

The restaurant has a magnificent view of the old city and the food is equally good with excellent staff throughout the hotel.

but commands a magnificent view of this beautiful walled city.

It is centrally located just walk across the bridge and you’re in the old city and walk a couple of blocks you’re into the new.

The hotel is in a good location for walking into the city.

We got a room with a superb view of the city from our balcony.

Ideally situated to explore the town and the medieval city.

Location was great, room was nice (although we didn't have a really great panoramic view of the Medieval City, more was the view of the parking lot!)

Ideally situated to visit both parts of the city.

Right on the bridge over to the old Cite, and yet a short walk to the new city.

We are currently staying for the Bank Holiday weekend and the location is excellent for the walled city and local Carcassone.

Very shabby and really run down it is a case of style over substance and comfort.

The decor is a bit strange with black and orange corridors and the rooms were dark .

The general colour of the walls etc here is Black, with Dark Blue lighting, which is rather strange.

Final room had a hole in the door ,
The small rooms are depressingly dark,no storage poor light and we felt it was back to our student days with gloomy black and dark paint.

Bad things
- Decor is a bit tired, we noticed a lot of chipped paint, cheap door handles and some odd signage around the place
- Confusing layout of the hotel, some stairs lead to places that other don't  and the pool was a bit difficult to find at first as there is no sign for it on a closed door at the end of the corridors.

but yeah, as others have said, the decor choice and implementation isn't the best.

Having been fully renovated and refurbished, this hotel claims to be 4-star, which is not the case yet due to too many flaws in the materials used for renovation, namely: doors can't close normally, bassinet tap is uneasy to use, painting is worn out.

Sadly, could never face that decor again.

They can't possibly have project managed this build because its shockingly basic, unfinished and not working as a design.

So after 3 hours that we had spent on the reception we found ourselves in the room #116 on the first floor, facing the shabby backyard.

The room seemed to have been recently redecorated too.

This brings us to our next point that the room itself was quite shabby, the paintwork needed touching up in places and the TV was not able to be put away and the unit was very scratched.

The rooms are small and a bit dated and the beds are very hard.

but some areas of rooms look slightly tired:- decor, furniture, etc., Desperately need an addition to BBC World News as their only english language TV channel.

To me the hotel feels dated, rooms are small and the lack of any draws made it impossible to unpack.

However, the rooms are small and dated and the restaurant and bar are very tired and need a very big update in terms of quality of decor and general standards.

Electronic shutters and pristine white sheets make for a quiet and dark nights sleep.

The staff were really apologetic and helpful and the replacement room was better although there was still a slight smell,

Lovely room and we received an upgrade for my boyfriends birthday.

Our room was quiet, large enough, and the bed was very comfortable.

The Tribe is one of the very best hotels I have stayed in for the price and the staff location and rooms were just fabulous iI can no say you will not be disappointed close the the Castle and it has its own swimming pool and a rooftop restaurant for breakfast close to the main square where there are lots of different styles and prices to fit with most budgets.

The room was excellent, with a very comfy bed.

Our room overlooked the castle and had a nice balcony,

- Young staff who are multi lingual - we saw them speaking french, english, spanish and possibly german during our stay (thank you)
- Good size rooms with modern facilities and en suite
- Coffee machine in rooms, kettle and tea which is not usually found in french hotels.

if you are in Carcassonne do stay as the room rate is fantastic my sister who has Gites on a Vineyard near Limoux she came to see The Tribe on my recommendation as people often wants to extend their stay at hers

Pluses:
Friendly efficient staff; ideal location; fantastic rooftop view (you don't have to get a drink - just go and chill out with a book); surprisingly roomy room for Europe; comfy bed; aircon that works; pool; free wifi.

We booked a room with Panoramic views through Agoda.

The room hada balcony looking across the river to an uninterrupted vioew of Carcassonne, which, at night, was even more spectacular.

We had a comfortable, clean, airconditioned balcony room with a stunning view of the Medieval City, river and Pont Vieux.

We’d requested a quiet room, and that was exactly what we were given.

The breakfast room on the top floor has a great view of it as well.

The room itself was very clean, the bathroom was modern, and the room overlooks the medieval city.

The room is clean and the bed is comfortable.

Room was clean, comfortable and good value.

Clean rooms and AMAZING views of the castle from both our rooms, the 4th floor restaurant AND the viewing deck on the top floor.

To end on a positive note: the view on the Cité, through the dirty windows is fantastic.

Pros; great location and lovely view of the castle, a nice bar and there was a pool if not more of a splash pool.

There were many positives: great location,  terrific view of the castle, nice resaurant on the top floor, friendly staff, undergrpund parking, and a big TV with streaming access.

The service is excellent and the views of the old cite across the river are the best in town.

From the hotel there is a fabulous view for photographs day and night - go up to the terrace on level 5.

We enjoyed a cocktail 🍹 in the bar and admired the view from the rooftop terrace.

The view from my balcony across to La Cité was stunning - possibly one of the best views of the ancient fortress in Carcassonne.

But the staff is adorable, and the view is amazing.

Tis truly a beautiful city and the people were amazing..

You are near the castle and the city, ypu can get anywhere with a nice walk.

The key selling point of this splendidly located guest house is the location, with its superb view over attractive gardens to the walled ancient city.

The guesthouse is easy walking distance from the new and old cities, which made popping back before dinner to rest and freshen up easy.

The view of the medieval city from the first floor balcony (where a large continental breakfast was served by Patrick each morning) was stunning and guests are able to sit up there during the day and evening.

Breakfast is served on a balcony looking over to the old walled city which is spectacular at night.

Nice guesthouse 10 minutes (walking) from the city center with a wonderful view on the Castle.

The walk to the old city takes about 10-15 minutes,

We arrived at mid-day on July 22 with the objective of visiting the old city and watching the finish of a Tour de France stage.

The Guesthouse is located in a very quite area central to and a short walk to the castle and Old Town, the new city, many excellent restaurants and beautiful walks along the river straight in front of the Guesthouse

Patrick and the staff could not do enough for us,they are very welcoming and
the continental breakfast served on the terrace overlooking the Medieval City
was very generous giving us a good start to the day.

Carcassonne guesthouse is in a perfect position overlooking the medieval city and has the added advantage of having a terrace with the same view where a lovely breakfast is served.

Best of all is the easy access into the city

The location of this guest house was excellent, waking distance from both the Medieval City and the Bastide St-Louis.

Comfortable, clean and quiet accomodation with perfect location for both La Cite fortress and city center.

The location is superb with the old city and the new city within 10 mins walk from here, so you can enjoy walks to either the old or new very easily.

The nighttime view of the old city from the terrace is breathtaking.

Patrick is a fantastic host and his guesthouse is situated in a perfect location between the new and old city so everything is accessible easily by foot.

but his proximity to both the new city and the old city is something we enjoyed.

We walked into the city both to sightsee and for the evening meal, fine as long as you can manage a hill.

We stayed there March 7-8, and the weather was unseasonably warm and actually had to turn down the heat because it wasn't that cold out.

Since it was cold and rainy while we were in Carcassonne, breakfast, usually served on the terrace, was moved into Patrick’s living room.

And, of course, the view of the old town from the terrace was stunning--unfortunately, it was cold and rainy when we stayed there so we were unable to take full advantage of it.

On cold or wet days we had breakfast indoors.

We would have walked to the restaurant in the evening if not for cold, windy and showering weather.
