There is a beach in front of the hotel and if you are up for a more energetic weekend, they have loads of suggestions and tips of what to do and with whom.

The location is great, on the Viana beach which is a small strip of sand with a very nice beach restaurant.

The garden of the hotel is also very nice.

The hotel is well integrated in its environment, with nice and well maintained gardens.

The delicious breakfast with the beautiful views of the channel, the heated swimming pool with friendly bar service, the serenity of the landscaped gardens, the charming accommodation and the ever so helpful staff made for a wonderful family experience in Ilhabela.

Not everyone wants to watch tv or play play station.

As I have gone with my wife, it was a little disturbing to have so many kids playing in the pool and screaming all the time, because that we used much less the pool.

I guess brazilians are just loud and non-educated, because everybody on that hotel speaks loud, from the owner, to the employees, till the guests.

There’s several alternatives such as, heated pool, wet bar, ofurôs, spa and alternatives for kids.

Eventhough the pool area is next to the street you are not disturbed by this at all.

Facilities, service, food, great warm pool and hot tubs.

From the reception to the restaurant to the pool everyone had a natural ability to make sure we had what we needed and that we enjoyed our stay.

I also tried the sauna which has a pool with cool water annexed before relaxing in the hammock.

The pool area was lovely with an easy view of the beautiful coastline.

although arguably Ilhabela has many equally good locations

On the other hand, it also has a few significant drawbacks:

- Room size.

but it's all pleasant never obnoxious and mostly the pool is a calm space for all to enjoy.

First with a very warm welcome at the reception followed by  a  charme of room, hotel and garden composition that we have not experienced very often in hotels.

The people are very kind and always ready to help.

The reception staff went out of its way to help me find transportation, activities, food and overall helped me have a enjoyable stay.

but the highlight are staff: attentive in every detail, kind and spoiling every guest with a smile in their face.

The staff is kind and nice making a important difference and helping you in everything you need.

All employees, without expeditions, are very nice and well trained.

Place is beautiful, with a great view, cool pool and bar area, and amazingly located with just a short 5-8 minute walk to town.

They have a lot of spots to know the other guests: swimming pool, bar, terraces, games room, etc.

This hostel has 5 different levels starting from the swimming pool, then the bar, the reception and bathroom, tidy rooms and a balcony on top of the reception, the top floor with the kitchen, tv and play room with a beautiful view to the Atlantic Ocean and hills, and another level with cabanas (private rooms).

The location of the hostel is in the centrer of the island and close to all bars and restaurant.

Nice place to relax and go to the beaches around.

Walking distance from different beaches, and everything else you will need while on the island.

The swimming pool is refreshing, and the hammocks are relaxing overlooking the bay.

The location is perfect, (just 100 meters from city Center), the staff is very friendly and it has a good cleaning.

The upper pool with a swim up bar (though not manned when we were there) is great and a lower kiddie pool with a waterfall from the upper pool.

but it did mean there was very little atmosphere at breakfast or at the bar in the evening.

The room I stayed in was right in fron of their double deck pool (with a bar inside).

Front desk staff was great and arranged for us to get a Jeep trip to Castelhanos beach at the last minute, when all tours had already departed - they called many contacts and got us a tour!

The walk into town is good, as well as to local beaches.

Special romantic dinner at the Pier 156!!

The hotel is located very near the beach and is in the northern side of the island.

but Ilhabela is large and has a lot of beaches to visit and it's better done by car.

The staff was friendly, and the room was spacious and comfortable.

This hotel with it's friendly staff and great surroundings made the stay absolutely amazing!

The hotel is very well located close to many restaurants and bars.

After every angle you turn you will find a surprise, be it a swimming pool with a set of lounge chairs on a spacious deck, a piano bar, a reading room or just a cozy place to relax amidst tropical trees.

Easy if steep walk down to the village which has many bars and restaurants.

It's elevated position means it has great views and a secluded atmosphere, while only being a short walk (300m) to the nearest beach, bars, restaurants and shops.

Firstly, the location is fantastic as it's in the Centro Historico so there are loads of bars, shops and restaurants, the bus stop and a short walk to the nearest beach.

During a recent visit to Ilhabela we stay in Maison Joly:good food, beautiful "decor"and magnificent bar with espledind views across the spit  towwards the main land of San Sebastiao-quiet ,elegant and exclusive surroundings make this the perfect place for short break or a longer relaxing stay.

From the stairs you will often catch a glimpse of an amazing view of the bay.

Beach and restaurant recommendations from the front desk were excellent.

The hotel was up a hill from the small town and beach - we certainly left a lot fitter than we arrived!

And it's just a short drive to some very good beaches (we liked Armação – around 10 mins in the car).

It would be more sensible to come with the cash you need, as there are not many ATMs on the island that take foreign cards.

Just be aware the property does not accept international credit cards, therefore plan on bringing cash in case you have not arranged for alternative payment method.

but with the friendly and positive attitude that reigned in the whole hotel, comprehension was perfect even for us who do not speak the native tongue.

The hotel is up the hill from the town centre where there are a large number of restaurants etc.

In fact, the staff looked after us really well throughout, and gave us lots of ideas for places to eat and to visit.

Overall, Maison Joly is a hotel that gave us a peaceful and pleasurable week.

The breakfast service is really unique, with everything been served at the table warm and fresh, with the little monkeys (saguis) being a nice surprise trying to charm the guests and maybe win a treat.

Breakfast was a multi-course affair - typical Brazilian 'cafe de manha" with some twists.

The breakfast and the view was definitely our highlight!

And the breakfast was so delicious and well served that we enjoyed every morning.

Even if you only stay a couple of nights, take full advantage of the amazing breakfast!

Breakfast was a high point, specially the acerola jam that the make it there.

Set in a tranquil part of the lively historic center of IlhaBela, meaning you can join in and then escape back to the hotel for a quiet evening.

The location is perfect for walking around "historic center" which is home to some churches and repurposed buildings as well as great food options, local artisans, and typical beach town shopping.

Location is a 2 minute walk from the historical center of the city.

The staff is very friendly and helps with everything.

however I would now also put Hotel Vila Kebaya on the beautiful Ilha Bela in Brazil alongside these, the setting is fabulous, our Vila room 13 is idyllic, the staff are so happy and helpful and it would be wrong to name just one or two, such a wonderful place and I am so grateful to everyone for making this a wonderful first experience to Brazil.

They are the most welcoming people we have met!
