There is a beach in front of the hotel and if you are up for a more energetic weekend, they have loads of suggestions and tips of what to do and with whom.

The location is great, on the Viana beach which is a small strip of sand with a very nice beach restaurant.

It's well known that the island is jam packed with mosquitoes.

The hotel is in front of the beach, swimming pool has a special place for kids, restaurant is very good.

The garden of the hotel is also very nice.

The hotel is well integrated in its environment, with nice and well maintained gardens.

The delicious breakfast with the beautiful views of the channel, the heated swimming pool with friendly bar service, the serenity of the landscaped gardens, the charming accommodation and the ever so helpful staff made for a wonderful family experience in Ilhabela.

Buildings and gardens are carefully taken care of.

The refurbishment of this establishment is wonderfull management has done a wonderful job and the gardens pool and sauna just perfect.

The hotel set up as a group of different buildings in a very beautiful garden provide for its charm.

Not everyone wants to watch tv or play play station.

As I have gone with my wife, it was a little disturbing to have so many kids playing in the pool and screaming all the time, because that we used much less the pool.

I guess brazilians are just loud and non-educated, because everybody on that hotel speaks loud, from the owner, to the employees, till the guests.

There’s several alternatives such as, heated pool, wet bar, ofurôs, spa and alternatives for kids.

Eventhough the pool area is next to the street you are not disturbed by this at all.

Facilities, service, food, great warm pool and hot tubs.

From the reception to the restaurant to the pool everyone had a natural ability to make sure we had what we needed and that we enjoyed our stay.

The staff’s friendly, the pool’s cool with clear water and if that’s not your thing then they have an Ofuro for 4 for you to enjoy, just in case you’re stressed.

I also tried the sauna which has a pool with cool water annexed before relaxing in the hammock.

The pool area was lovely with an easy view of the beautiful coastline.

although arguably Ilhabela has many equally good locations

On the other hand, it also has a few significant drawbacks:

- Room size.

but it's all pleasant never obnoxious and mostly the pool is a calm space for all to enjoy.

The hotel is very well located close to many restaurants and bars.

After every angle you turn you will find a surprise, be it a swimming pool with a set of lounge chairs on a spacious deck, a piano bar, a reading room or just a cozy place to relax amidst tropical trees.

Easy if steep walk down to the village which has many bars and restaurants.

It's elevated position means it has great views and a secluded atmosphere, while only being a short walk (300m) to the nearest beach, bars, restaurants and shops.

Firstly, the location is fantastic as it's in the Centro Historico so there are loads of bars, shops and restaurants, the bus stop and a short walk to the nearest beach.

During a recent visit to Ilhabela we stay in Maison Joly:good food, beautiful "decor"and magnificent bar with espledind views across the spit  towwards the main land of San Sebastiao-quiet ,elegant and exclusive surroundings make this the perfect place for short break or a longer relaxing stay.

From the stairs you will often catch a glimpse of an amazing view of the bay.

Beach and restaurant recommendations from the front desk were excellent.

The hotel was up a hill from the small town and beach - we certainly left a lot fitter than we arrived!

And it's just a short drive to some very good beaches (we liked Armação – around 10 mins in the car).

Nice rooms and bathroom, very nice verandas with view, first rate breakfast and outstandingly nice service.

We thoroughly enjoyed the rich breakfast with fresh fruit, egg in toast, cakes.

We had a very good time at Maison Joly, very good breakfast, good tips on what to do and visit during our stay on the island.

Breakfast is served at your table and is delicious; they even bake their own bread.

Maison Joly is a very nice place, a rustic and stylish hotel, with comfortable and spacious rooms, a gentle and personalized service, and a delicious breakfast, with the flavorful Jolly Eggs prepared at the guest request.

The included breakfast was fantastic  with a nice selection of fruits, pastries and the specialty Ovo Joly (egg on toast).

The breakfast is a highlight with wide selection of fruits, pastries and their very own heart-shaped breaded omelet “Ovo Joli”.

The Maison Joly signature dish was Egg Joly which was freshly made while we waited and delicious.

Just be aware the property does not accept international credit cards, therefore plan on bringing cash in case you have not arranged for alternative payment method.

The hotel is up the hill from the town centre where there are a large number of restaurants etc.

In fact, the staff looked after us really well throughout, and gave us lots of ideas for places to eat and to visit.

My favorite part of this property was the private beach adjacent to the pools and in front of the bar/restaurant.

The pools were right on the beach and the pool bar was nice.

The bar service  and the pool area are at the water front across the road and is in very good order with friendly staff.

The bar, pool and beach facilities across the street was perfect.

We had a room with a beach view and we loved it.

İt has its own beach which is so nice also.

The pool, directly opposite the hotel is very nice with a long pier that stretches over the water.

The beach club, with an overwater deck is pretty cool and the breakfast is just amazing!! !

Beautiful heritage bungalow has been remodelled into a picturesque hotel next to the beach.

The beach and the pool is right across the street with the hotel restaurant in that same vicinity.

It's located just in front of the Viana Beach which has water just like crystal, and there was a very famous restaurant next it.

The first night we dined at the beach restaurant, very pleasant view across to mainland Brazil and the pier where one can swim off is great fpr sunbathing

Well situated, just by the sea with a great swimming pool on a deck over the sea, one of the innumerable Ilhabela beaches just a couple of meters away.

The pool is located next to the ocean and provides an excellent view of the public and private beach and the dock as well.

The beaches near the hotel are picture perfect.

It is at very beautiful location, has perfect swimming area and beach access.

Amazing deck on the beach which reminded us of Ibiza.

It is situated in the middle of 2 beaches, almost above the ocean! Just great!!!"

The swimmingpool is just asside the ocean and very beatiful as the small beach.

We were served a breakfast feast every morning in the large dining hall with spacious seating to either be outside with the views, near people, or completely away if seclusion is what you're looking for.

On the other hand, improvements at the breakfast could be nice.

Service impeccable, lovely facilities and the breakfast put on about a million kilos on both of us :)

The breakfast is quite varied wit a good selection of choices.

Breakfast is great and abundant (self serve) staff is friendly and helpful (I don't know how well they're acquainted with English since I speak Portuguese).

Breakfast is sumptuous, and the rooms are well appointed.

The breakfast was standard for what I experienced throughout Brazil, a very good selection of sliced meats, fruits, pastries and beverages.

but odd, medieval in sub tropical setting with modern, excellent service, but very little choice in breakfasts architecture out of place in surrpundungs.

* We were in Ilhabela for a wedding party and 9AM (on a SUNDAY) on the day after the wedding, we were woken up by the staff for room service.

The hotel could do with some children indoor play area as well for the rainy days.

Without a car, you need to take the hourly bus, which is bumpy ride with loud music, or you can take a taxi.

We were disturbed my the sound of a drill one morning as well due to the construction.

Noise-
This might be my biggest complaint.

The constant noise of the waterfall outside our window did not induce a quiet sleep.

I have read some comments about the "terrible" noise that the cascades made and I want you to be sure that this is not true, our room was very near to one of these cascades and the noise was at most like a distant rain which does not prevent you to sleep.

There is also a nice little restaurant nearby.

The center, with most restaurants, is a few km's further down the road.

The staff is kind and helpfull and the service of restaurant pretty good.

With that being said, they kept the construction to daylight hours so it didn't disrupt our sleep too much.

but they limit it to normal hours during the day so it does not interfere with sleep.

Also, we reached very late, around midnight, and the staff was kind enough to order for Pizzas from a nearby delivery so we dont sleep hungry.

Unfortunately I was told that from time to time guests complain about the moss that sticks to the bottom of the pool, therefore, SADLY I noticed the use of chemicals to clean the water.

There was some mold on the upper part of the walls and the toilet seat looked very dirty.

The breakfast service is really unique, with everything been served at the table warm and fresh, with the little monkeys (saguis) being a nice surprise trying to charm the guests and maybe win a treat.

Breakfast was a high point, specially the acerola jam that the make it there.

Set in a tranquil part of the lively historic center of IlhaBela, meaning you can join in and then escape back to the hotel for a quiet evening.

The location is perfect for walking around "historic center" which is home to some churches and repurposed buildings as well as great food options, local artisans, and typical beach town shopping.

Location is a 2 minute walk from the historical center of the city.

The staff is kind and welcoming, always with an smile.

Marcos from the front desk was cordial from checkin to checkout.

The staff is very friendly and helps with everything.

however I would now also put Hotel Vila Kebaya on the beautiful Ilha Bela in Brazil alongside these, the setting is fabulous, our Vila room 13 is idyllic, the staff are so happy and helpful and it would be wrong to name just one or two, such a wonderful place and I am so grateful to everyone for making this a wonderful first experience to Brazil.

They are the most welcoming people we have met!

The staff is amazing, the room is amazing, the pool is amazing, the breakfast is PERFECT!

The upper pool with a swim up bar (though not manned when we were there) is great and a lower kiddie pool with a waterfall from the upper pool.

but it did mean there was very little atmosphere at breakfast or at the bar in the evening.

The room I stayed in was right in fron of their double deck pool (with a bar inside).

Front desk staff was great and arranged for us to get a Jeep trip to Castelhanos beach at the last minute, when all tours had already departed - they called many contacts and got us a tour!

The walk into town is good, as well as to local beaches.

Special romantic dinner at the Pier 156!!

The hotel is located very near the beach and is in the northern side of the island.

but Ilhabela is large and has a lot of beaches to visit and it's better done by car.

Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was a generous buffet always full of local treats, such as passion fruit cake, coconut cake, cheese bread and tropical fruits.

Very near to the villa , in front of the famous YCI with a remarkable breakfast and brand new area with great rooms.

Breakfast is superb, perfect set up and very good food.

but if they were ever loud, we didn't hear it as the rooms were very quiet.

but away from the 'noise' (not that it's a noisy place).

Their location is fantastic, by the old vila where most restaurants and shops are, close to various natural attractions.

It was an easy short walk to stores, restaurants and a tourism place offering trips around Ilhabella.

Several restaurant options are within walking distance.

The restaurant is a great alternative if you don't choose to take a short walk into the vila.

The entire staff made check-in, island activities, food, check-out, everything very easy, simple and fun.

It is charming and sophisticated, both the setting and the menu.

Restaurant offers very good food at reasonable prices.

The food from chef Marina always fresh and flavorful.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good and the swimming pools great for the kids.

This a lovely cafe bar on the mountain side and well worth a visit the food is very good and prepared freshly when you order Magueil is a very nice man and the veiw is stunning down the mountain out to the sea I gladly recommend the place

Bus stop nearby to get to beaches on the other side of the island.

It is also walking distance to beaches, bus stops, shops & restaurants.

The staff are very friendly, the place is very well located, breakfast is simple and delicious.

The breakfast is complete and of great quality and the rooms are very comfortable.
