The service was top notch and the facilities are available were great, couldn’t have asked for a better experience, he roof top bar and pool makes for an awesome hang out spot and photo op since it overlooks the beach.

The hotel is near to the best shops, restaurants and bars in Playa Del Carmen.

this place and then complain of noise from nearby bars and restaruants.

It is located in the heart of downtown so it’s actually a part of a mall and lots of restaurants and bars nearby.

The hottest restaurants, bars and even Coco Bongo are at your front door.

The pool bar on the roof is the best for lounging and the food at the restaurants is delicious.

A lot of bar restaurants and shops just few meters away

I recommend the beach grill and sitting in the pool bar.

However, given the prices at the bar, a professional bar tender would have been appreciated and appropriate.

But there was still a line on every bar and restaurant bill for "tips".

The hotel is located in a good area with short distance to beach as well as bars and restaurants.

Staff from check-in to restaurant, and bar was efficient and any question gets answered.

The drinks made by bartender Francisco were awesome (Maracuya mezcalitas, mojitos, anything really, amazing open bar with very good quality cocktails and no wait).

You're steps away from restaurants and bars and everything is easily accessible.

I will stay here again, from the folks at the check in counter to the bellmen to the servers and bar tenders we had a wonderful experience.

but the surrounding bars will keep you awake till 2:30.

The hotel was great since it was next to all the clubs and bars.

We had a tequila tasting at the rooftop bar and the bar tender was very friendly and knowledgeable, he even came up with special drinks for my girlfriend and me.

My partner and I enjoyed the rooftop pool and bar multiple times and the food at Catch for dinner and Cinco for breakfast/brunch was all very good.

Room service never arrived despite my 7 phone calls.

They said “we are out of spicy tuna” would you like to order something else.. No mentioning this when ordering, No phone call to ask if we want to order something else.

Imagine our surprise when we received a call saying that we needed to leave now and someone would come and get our bags.

I called the front desk two times both times they ignored my calls.

Also, they text you to your private cell phone via SMS this information without your permission.

If you think it might, just have a white noise app on your phone ready to go.

I didn’t immediately call the front desk because it was the middle of the night and my bro was sleeping.

If you arrive at night in a car you have to call the hotel and they will send someone out to 10th Ave to meet you.

Room wasn’t cleaned by like 4:30 pm the first day so had to call.

We had to call multiple times to get fresh towels DAILY. Awful.

I had to call numerous times to coordinate this simply request.

First day had to call room service 3 times to remind them bring towels as they hadn’t left any in room.

When we reached out to ask her what to do, she dodged our calls and then told us it “wasn’t her fault.” She wasn’t able to secure us a cabana in the end so we left.

I have a cousin working there name Christian Rosillo who works at one of the restaurants at that hotel call Catch Restaurant.

but at this one the buttons all call all elevators, so if you get one that doesn’t go where you want it to go, you have to send it away before pressing the button again to hopefully call an elevator that actually services the floor you want.

90 minutes after the 3pm checkin time they still didn’t call

Also, the street right in front of the hotel was closed to vehicular traffic when we arrived, so you’ll need to call the hotel and the staff will meet you at the nearest intersection to pick up your bags and park your car for you.

but download a white noise app on your phone.

Quality of service very poor, it needed from my wife and I to call services 8 times in order to deliver slippers and water.

Some of the negative points:

We had to call every other day for maintenance due to a clogged toilet.

Confortable rooms, in the heart of Playa del Carmen, close to the beach and to the center.

but as Playa del carmen is very accommodating in general, we didn't take think it was that big of a deal.

We hosted our wedding at Thompson Playa del Carmen and it overwhelmingly exceeded our expectations.

I will be back in this amazing hotel as I really enjoy Playa del Carmen.

A very sexy place and an outstanding experience, The roof top has an excellent vibe and being in the centre of Playa Del Carmen the convenience was a great option.

We took a short 3 night 4 day stay in Playa Del Carmen and stayed at the Thompson Main House, which I would describe as a boutique hotel with large well furnished rooms.

The Thompson in Playa del Carmen is centrally located at the 5th Avenue which is the main party mile in Playa del Carmen.

The Thompson Playa Del Carmen has an ideal location in Playa Del Carmen, which makes it very easy to talk to multiple shops, restaurants, nightlife options,s and the beach in the city.

I stayed at the Thompson Playa del Carmen for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

HIGHLY recommend you stay at Thompson Playa del Carmen.

He shared history on tequila and Mexico, and some great tips on drinks and Playa del Carmen.

Thompson Playa del Carmen Main House is truly a unique and awesome resort!

I had the fortunate experience of staying at both the Thompson Playa Del Carmen Main House and also their wonderful boutique hotel Thompson Beach House.

This is for you if you want to discover Playa del Carmen, and (very important) you are planning to go out at night, to bars or enjoying the nightlife.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to avoid the all-inclusives and be in the heart of the action in Playa Del Carmen.

We initially booked our vacation at the Grand Hyatt in Playa del Carmen.

We had breakfast and cocktails here and loved every minute of it.

The Hotel property was beautiful and the food was amazing.

Delicious food, clean rooms, great sunset views.

The kitchen (room service) staff was very flexible as we were able to customize our breakfast.

Perfect in every way, location, pool, rooms, food, service.

There are plenty of food restaurants and hookah lounges in walking distance

We had an amazing time at Alessia the rooftop pop up restaurant.

Everyone has an answer to all questions related Restaurants, tours, etc.

Very unfortunate as the staff was great, room was nice and food was good.

The rooftop pool and the food are also exceptional.

The rooftop pool is unmatched to anywhere else in Playa and the food is really good too!

Rooftop brunch was delicious and the passion fruit juice is a must.

The Friday night Beach Grill barbeque was lots of fun with live surf band, fire show and an amazing array of delicious food.

We were able to enjoy several restaurants in town and it delivered better value.

but the algae was such a strong smell that I could barely leave the room without feeling nauseous.

It's so bad that nearby bars and restaurants burn incense to negate the smell.

but smoking by guests and non-guests should be closely monitored.

If you want a room that smells like how laundry left overnight in the washer smells like, then this is for you.

but I guess that does mean room would be clean or in good shape 
there was a very bad mold smell and I couldn't sleep there and had to switch hotels 
very rude stuff , especially the front desk / hotel manager which had no interest in trying to improve the customer experience 

you should really look for another option if u are traveling to playa

A bunch of napkins desolving in the pool looks disgusting.

-  The air conditioning is too noisy and the air smells bad.

Room smelled like sewer,elevators broke,power went out and loud music kept us up at night.

but when we switched, the second room also had the same musty smell.

my only problems were a slow drain in my room and the exhorbitant amount of noise (rooms don't have proper  noise cancelling glass or drapery).

The pillows had a funky smell and by the time we did our check out, they surprise us with this "lifestyle fee".

The party music emanating from the neighbouring hotel was obnoxious as was the crowd that went there.

the beach that 'belongs' to the Thompson is quite limited and kind of smells bad depending on the day and the weather.

It has a beautiful architecture, amazing views, plus it's very clean.

Good location, our view was nice as well with the pool and ocean view, and super close to fifth avenue.

We also used the day beds that are overlooking the ocean and enjoyed a great lunch.

My family actually liked our main house more as the pool was bigger, nicer view of the city and more places to tan.

The view is also OK. You see a lot of rooftops from nearby businesses.

First time staying at a hotel in Playa that was not on the beach and had a little concerns I would miss being on the ocean.

If you want the best rooftop experience , best views in town, the best happy hours drinks and the nicest customer service (Oscar is the best !!!!

The hotel is very contemporary and modern in every way and has an amazing up beat, modern roof top pool with an amazing view of the city and ocean.

The rooms are beautiful/trendy/clean, the balconies are worth the price (very comfortable with good views and good size so you can actually use them), the rooftop pool is awesome and the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly.

I requested a quiet room and I got a room overlooking a market alley way so there was minimal noise which I appreciated.

Upon checking in for the New Year dinner to get a table assignment for the night, Jasmin was phenomenal at welcoming us and getting us a table with ocean view and pool view.

The wall are in papers, you hear everything.

As I get up to go the the restroom, I saw that it was rain coming down inside of our room puddling on the floor and also coming down the inside walls.

They became more and more irrational, smacking the doors, walls, kicking our door, and jingling the door handles.

Our room was run down, all the light fixtures were Crooked on the walls, our towels had tears on the edges, the room seemed very under furnished and all furniture even at the pool seemed old (tears in couches and pool chair cushions).

There is a gap of 1cm between all the guest room doors and the wall so all noise from the hall goes in.

Would have preferred the separate toilet area to have been private without glass walls.

Almost ALL rooms on 1 look directly into the walls of the attached shopping center.

Though, strange glass doors and wall on showers and bathroom

but half of it is still visible to the room at large—the bathroom wall cuts away into glass on that end, so the entire room will clearly see your nude silhouette hahaha.

The design is perfectly executed down to surprising choices like dimming the interiors with limited windows and walls of sheer curtains to keep the space intimate, cool, and sexy as hell.

The hotel staff hung a shower curtain for us to provide more privacy, and other guests told us that some rooms have translucent film on the bathroom walls, which would have been helpful in our room.

however that the bathroom doors and walls are see through.

In my book, a suite has a living room and a bedroom separated by a wall and a door.

The bathroom had see-through walls so there was no privacy, even in the shower, in case that is important to you.

Also, the showers and toilets have glass walls and doors, in some rooms somewhat visible from the bed.

but 2 nights before we left - we went to the front-desk asking to see the charges written on our room number.

At check out we end up over charged on a bunch of stuff.

Multiple fraudulent charges, including a $39,000 fraud charge AFTER we left.

but also he wanted to charge us double to get us a new ride.

All of our friends rooms were fraudulently charged for things they had no idea (even with their all inclusive bands).

You will be charged tons of unauthorized payments please stay clear.

Been to Playa and Cancun over 25 times and this ended up being the most expensive resort at $659 per night with all the hidden taxes and charges.

The ATM is a complete ripoff, so avoid it at all costs and instead head to the Scotia Bank at 10th avenue and Constituyentes, who will charge you US$5 which isn't so awful.

There is a room service charge which is unfortunate.

I told them I wanted to pay with a card because we didn't have a room and it was no problem when I ordered an overpriced, flavorless salad.

however my family was surprised and very disappointed when we arrived and what we thought was all-inclusive was an additional charge.

Especially once concerns were vocalized, which unfortunately was quite often during my stay, as a result of the inconsistencies in charges made in error.

My daughter called me, with 10% charge left on her cell phone in a terrified panic asking for solutions.

I was withdrawing funds and the machine charged 3 $68.95 fees (US dollars) for a $120 withdrawal. The hotel management (Hector O.)

Make sure to use your Credit Card that comes with international trip protection! !

I was charged for beverage and food that (apparently at the pool) I did not receive or order.

We booked and paid 2-years in advance due to COVID and had consistent issues with the hotel getting rooms wrong, dates wrong and payment information incorrect.

Try to get room 538 (not 558) as it is much quieter due to the club which sits directly beneath #558.

but wouldn't stay again due to the uncomfortable room.

Sadly, due to environmental factors, there is beach erosion and the original beach has been mostly taken by the ocean.

but that was due to windy sea conditions.

I would actually be mortified to bring a child to the property due to the exposure of the club next door.

However, we could not enjoy the last 1.5 days due to getting food poisoning at the hotel.

Same day reservations are not accepted due to Covid capacity planning.

While the hotel probably was full due to what seemed like a large wedding, it was not always felt, as the hotel had a lot of space and everything was outdoors.

I think it’s due to fresh water seeping from the ocean floor.

Was looking for a place to stay for 14 days in Aug/Sept, 2021 due to the travel restrictions to enter the US.

Unfortunately we could not get into the beach due to the seaweed season!

though the beach is small due to erosion.

Unfortunately (as of February 2021) the gym was closed due to COVID.

But, the overall property is so beautiful, the pool and beach are beautiful too, we chalked it up to lack of staff due to Covid.

Some of the rooms/suites are in inhabitable during noon and 7 PM due to beach club at the front of the hotel with very loud.

Currently the Grand Club is closed due to Covid.

The hotel was great , clean and organized and you didn’t feel it’s crowded despite being fully booked.

We really felt taken care of, and that extra attention (as well as room service spontaneously dropping by with chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of wine) really made all the difference.

Salt water infinity pools were amazing and made you feel as if you were in the ocean.

Jorge and Lauro were so lovely to us and made us feel home!

Their whole team felt like they were there to take care of us.

They made us feel like family and took amazing care of us and everyone in the resort during our stay.

My favorite ladies, Miriam and Marcela Romel, always make me feel welcome and go the extra mile!

The room and grounds all felt new and very well kept.

He made me feel like family couldn’t try enough to give us a new experience.

Their kindness and attention to service makes every guest feel so welcome and this time was no exception.

Agustina went out of her way to make us feel special and welcomed to the property!

Activities with Alex, Alexis and Richard made us feel really sexy uh lala they deserve a raise.

but you can hear the DJ music from the pool over the spa music.

The music was not turned off and was a huge distraction to the couple as well as the wedding guests.

Ibiza chill music playing all day and night.

Do something about the blasting loud music from the neighboring property and the massive seaweed problem covering the beach and you’ll have a winner because your staff is wonderful.

They play annoying, fairly loud club music from about 11 AM until 7 PM or so.

but added a lot of crowd noise and boom-boom music for several evenings.

The restaurant/bar had a DJ and loud bar guests most nights we were there.

Unfortunately, their beach club blasts music from 1-7pm everyday.

Our plunge pool suite is directly above Coralina, which blasts loud music all day long and makes it intolerable to sit INSIDE the suite with the door closed; sitting outside on the balcony is entirely unbearable and unusable.

Ours was on one side overlooking a day club on the beach so the views were not unobstructed (a bit of a disappointment) and the party music was thumping away every day until the evening.

One star off because there were so many bugs on our balcony our entire stay that we couldn't sit at the table there, our steak at both our nights of dinner at Grill at 1-26 to be chewy, tried to order Room Service via the TV menu and it didn't allow us to customize our choices, and the music from the day club can get loud.

Beach area was smallish and the music from next door was loud.

but there was a loud beach party underneath us and the music lasted from 1-7 I think.

When I found finally one, the aquaerobics started and it was to noise, the animator guy scream a lot all time, music was loud and it was not professional he and his partner were dancing inappropriately for gest.

Very disappointed that I paid as much as I did to hear blaring music every night.

I would just leave the balcony door closed if I was going to sleep in or open if I wanted some music in my room.

The suite was right above a club and we were warned about the loud music coming from the club for a couple of hours everyday .

They had loud music and a live DJ everyday from about 1-7pm.

Wonderful stay at PLAYA del Carmen in Hayatt resort.

I would highly recommend attending if staying at the Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen. Fun!!!!

Alexis was an amazing bike tour showed us an amazing beach, a tour around Playa del Carmen for good restaurants and stopped at an amazing coffee shop!

Karm make the best mezcalita and margarita in Playa del Carmen.

One of the best trips I’ve ever taken food was vegan friendly and delicious very beautiful and clean property best location in playa del Carmen walking distance to everything can’t wait to visit this property again.

The hotel has a great location right on downtown Playa del Carmen which allowed the group to enjoy multiple activities in the Mayan Riviera.
