We had a fab sea view room number 8319 👍 we tried all eating places within the hotel - RUBBISH.

He was super helpful and companionate and managed to get us 2 rooms for $600 less than what I paid for 1 room with Hotels.com.

The rooms are maintained very clean and the fridge is well-stocked.

The hotel was very well presented and clean, fixtures and fittings weren’t totally perfect (slightly wonky toilet in one room and gurgly plumbing in the kids room when you flushed the toilet)

The entertainment team in the day are excellent the rooms are great too.

All the rooms seem to have an ocean view, as the hotel design is very clever, in a U.

The room was clean and well stocked with great views, and the bed was comfy.

The room was lovely and big with a huge balcony

All rooms are sea view rooms, we had a room overlooking the lagoon and the sea which was great.

Rooms are perfectly clean and furnished very nice with warm colors.

Our room was beautiful and the ocean view did not  disappoint!

Our three couples were celebrating milestone anniversaries and we were thrilled to have rooms on the sixth floor with each room having a gorgeous ocean view.

We also had a room switch during the trip which was nice and the breakfast buffet never disappointed.

Our fridge was stocked well and the room cleaned daily.

3 places to smoke, if your a smoker  which are not adequate for hotel this size.

The middle pool is a pool bar where people were just drinking until they couldn't stand up, smoking in the pool, and we even saw someone taking substances.

If you’re a smoker, I would strongly advise against this hotel.

Our room did smell of sulphur on occasions and the fan does make a noise which you can't switch off so some light sleepers may struggle.

There are staff raking that up each morning and it’s nothing like smelly seaweed and didn’t deter anyone swimming in the sea.

First off the rooms had a horrible mold/mildew smell that was making me feel sick, our rooms were NEVER cleaned unless we requested on the app and even so no fresh towels brought / toilet paper refills.

Areas for improvement: 
We saw many people smoking throughout the resort in undesignated areas, which we found very annoying.

The rooms were a bit dated and the bathrooms could have been cleaner, there was black mold in ours.

but of course people had to ruin it by leaving their garbage behind, we found broken glass, straws and cigarettes :/ Food was very poor, only friuts and vegetables were great also staff was very helpfull and nice.

No air in room bathrooms, insufficient room lighting, red stained mirrors, pee on the side of the toilets.

Our friends had trouble with electrics on floor 9, blowing lights, hair dryers ect…fuse box looked old and looked like required maintenance, this happened after rain, so probably water in the electrics, they had to sleep with no lights or electric, with a smell of burning, was not resolved until next day, their last day.

Everybody smokes, everybody is loud and inconsiderate of others having a relaxing time.

The hotel has an amazing protocol for COVID in every place, not just in the hotel also outside the premises including parks "XCARET".

Glad my two days in Riu Caribe I spent them at Xcaret & Xel-Ha.

however I was happy to stay around the hotel in the day as there is plenty of entertainment and time for relaxation, and I saw plenty of the “real México” on the three trips I went on; Chichen Itza, Xcaret and Isla Mujeres (all of which I highly recommend).

Hotel was a good base from which to do some of the Xparks and this time we had a fantastic (but long day) at Xcaret.

Tui rep also didn’t tell us with any Xcaret trips, if you keep your wristband on you can go up the Xcaret view tower in Cancun for free the following day!

Went to xcaret and xelha and coco bongo all a must visit plso visit la isla shopping centre has a pepsi max ferris wheel to look over cancun amazing vie $275 pesso or $15 us dollars it toom you round 5 times also visited a museum you can get the bus costs 12 pesso each way buses run 24hrs a day if ur not at a bus stop the bus will stop

This hotel has a foam party every Thursday 3 -5pm in the quiet pool near the the pizza and drinks bar and a beach party on a friday night both gd.

First we did Xcaret and watched the evening show - very good

While we were there we went on a lot of excursions including Xel-Ha and Xplor which we booked ourselves through the Xcaret website before going, and a few excursions through Thomson while we were there including the catamaran trip to Dolphin Discovery where we swam with dolphins, nurse sharks and fed the manatees and a trip to Garrafon Park, and Chichen Itza.

Only complaint was a loud party one night nearby.

On our third night we were woken up at 12am to a loud rave next door that went on till after 3am.

The only downside to Ixchel is the party boats that park offshore and play their club music on full-blast all day.

Simple review, when I arrived at check in the room I booked was a double bed, was not available, so king bed, so a member in my party could not stay with us, lady at check in was extremely rude and unhelpful on what I should do as I asked for help, she ignored me.

Our party was us and two families each with two children under six.

We did see and hear the party boats at night.

New Year’s Eve night wasn’t too loud either,

The only reason it is not a 10/10 is because on the weekends, the locals have the ability to rent out the beach and this leads to *loud* music being played sometimes past 5 am.

Every night people that are not hotel guest set up shop right in front of the hotel pool on the beach and blast music and party until 4 am.

Very very loud music to the point the building shakes.

And I'm glad the inconsiderate loud family next door only arrived the day before I left.

but mostly drunk people ruin the experience.

There are some issues with boats playing music on weekend evenings

Due to Sargasso, the boats are coming from Cancun, many playing loud music, etc.

We did not find this hotel noisy at all, even with the boats playing music.

In fact, my wife had to call the front desk one night about 2 a.m. to ask them to quiet down the rain party going on outside just below our balcony.

..The beach/boat party on the weekend nights is unbearably loud and lasts until 2:00 am or later.

We eventually did have an issue with the resort staff not liking that we were ordering from the small bar/restaurant and they told us that our party of 5 had to split into 2’s because of social distancing

The rooms are comfortable, the staff is friendly and the location is superb.

The beach area, rooms and pool is well maintained.

Oceanfront rooms are well appointed with ample room for the whole family.

It turns out the room we had is actually a condo that's owned by a private individual and it gets rented through the hotel.

(They even upgraded our room from double beds to a huge king upon arrival)

It can also be a two bedroom penthouse when room 502 adjoins it.

Beautiful bright and very clean rooms with pleasant and accommodating staff, on the northern end of the island.

Friendly and helpful staff, big clean rooms, free towels for the beach.

Great views from every room we have stayed in over the years, we will keep coming back!

Loved our room at Ixchel, the weather was wonderful,  beaches perfect.

I had a standard room which was well comfortable, had a nice view and plenty of storage.

Excellent service, the room was very clean and excellent, I liked that it has an elevator and the pool with warm water for the children.

From the front desk to the wonderful staff who cleaned our room and the kitchen and servers.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

The best location on the island … on the beach 2 minute walk to the restaurant strip… rooms are fantastic, backed up by the best service … wouldn’t stay anywhere else… been staying at Ixchel since 2009 and will be back again.

The room was even better, we stayed in a 1 bedroom suite approximately 1,100 square feet, great view of beach and large balcony.

The room is terrific and the convenience of the location is unequalled.

Room very clean, all the staff are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you.

When we arrived with the ferry (Xcaret Xailing), we had a maletero help us with the luggage and just walked to the hotel.

Yes- some of the rooms need the odd maintenance job completing such as bathroom door locks not working or batteries dead in the safe-

The bed sheets wasn't changed for the whole two weeks we stayed, we had to get our own towels & toilet rolls,it took two of us to open & close these patio doors!

This issue was never addressed as well, and we had to essentially push the ceiling up every time we entered or exited the bathroom.

Our bathroom was dirty, there was mold around the toilet and around the shower.

Mould in bathroom, patio door wouldn’t close never mind lock, fridge broken, leaking air con unit so water over the floor (dangerous).

Shower water temperature changes from really hot to really cold atleast a few times while taking a shower.

When I got my room, the toilet was dirty and used.I will attach picture of it.

There are water and ice despensers for water (would have saved me money on my first night if someone had said), there are no showers other than those on the beach to use upon check-out & the bars stop serving drinks when they feel like it.

On a different day out soaps & towels were replenished while there was a DND sign.

but the staff (despite viewing the room and agreeing with us) did not seem willing to move us and we did not want to be in a room with mould due to existing health conditions.

After many complaints the toilet would still not flush.

The bathroom floor was wet when we went in and the bathtub and the sink are not clean well.

Unfortunately my mother became ill overnight (nothing to do with the hotel or its amenities) so our first full morning at the hotel was rather a panic as a doctor was needed.

The hotel facilities I would say were basic, shower was liking a bit.

there was mold in the bathroom underneath the sink on the walls.

Don’t bother with a swim up room as they’re mostly in the shade.

Hotel is nice looks lovely feels lovely rooms are nice beds are comfy.

There is also tea & coffee facilities in the room too.

The swim up room was total bliss, very comfortable and such luxury to have pool access from the room.

The hotel itself is good, the room is clean and spacious.

The room we stayed in had its own Concierge, Julio, and he was very helpful in making reservations for us and answering any questions we might have.

Part One.About the hotel.Amazing location in the hotel zone cancun, At the at the rear of the hotel is a  wonderful quiet strech of beach at the front you are a few yards from a bus stop that will take up and down the zone for a mear 12 pesos, a lovely ala carte restuarant yards from the beach,two pools one with little bridges that u can swim under with a swim up pool bar and you can swim late in the evening witch is nice under the lights.the other pool has a pizza cafe and bar,the rooms are basic

Thankfully the bellman was still in the room and he was able to call maintenance for us to instal the second security lock on the door
- There was a small selection of food options at the buffet.

This was dealt with by Nancy on the front desk who was incredibly helpful and our room switch went smoothly.

I ended up loving my room so much and the view is so amazing.

but we were on the 3rd floor so we were fine with that and there was a safe and aircon in the room.

My partner and i are sorry to be leaving just had a great 2 week stay at flamingo resort cancun

Had a great stay at the flamingo resort, room was lovely and had very good service in Albatros from Isai who is very helpful and lupei.

You really do have to go out onto the street - a lot of unhappy smokers.

And who knows how much urine must had been in there. 5.

So all in all weekends are one big party with drinking and smoking ALL night long and weekdays are kids in the pool screaming and throwing water on you when your sun bathing then laughing and running away.

Imagine the smell it caused the room to have.

Oh no smoking policy by the beach or by the pool.

When we walked into our room we can smell the mold immediately.

Room disgusting,  need refreshments, even been clean , feels like still dirty.

Transfer from air port to hotel via Tui Was worse than poor I complained to head office

A smell was coming from the drains, so we covered all the drains with wet towels.

The bathroom sink appears to have someone else’s DNA in it and the tiled floor is way too dirty to walk on without shoes, did I mention it stinks?

Check in was at 330pm- did not get to go to the room till 430pm, when we got to the room, the ground was wet, several water spots in the tile creases and the room was odious with bleach to mask not only the musty scent of mold

The next day we went to xcaret we where out of the hotel from 7am to 10:00pm.

My family had a great time we stay 7 days the hotel was clean they are really good service, we love the pool they have like two pools and hot tub and they are really clean.We went to Xcaret and we also had a great day there.

Overall I had a nice stay, the weather was awesome and staff was friendly and helpful, If you want to book tours talk to Ray from Lomas Travel who's right next of the front desk, we booked Xcaret and Cocobongo with him at cheaper prices.

I recommend doing Xplor, Xel-ha, Xcaret, and the Chichen-itza tours/activities for your Cancun experience.

Xcaret is worth the money if you like snorkling, dolphins and informative Mexican History shows.

Very convenient to book tours to Xcaret, Bullfight, Xel-Ha, Jungle Tours from comfort of own hotel.

We added a Swim with the Dolphins to our XCaret Tour after we arrived at the hotel.

We booked a day trip to xcaret through the trip people at the hotel.

Just got here said they didn’t have the room we booked.

The view from the room is gorgeous (6th floor)

The rooms were clean and had a great view.

We enjoy everything about this hotel, the location, staff, food, entertainment,  and rooms.

Nice and relaxed break food was good and drinks were good always ask for good spirits.or you will get there cheap stuff that they use for cocktails which is not very good premium drink was in room optics which got replaced once down s bit

We had several rooms , both in the main building and , additionally, in the villas .

Food, staff, rooms, amenities, beach and service were all outstanding.

My  wife and I stayed Dec 3-12 and occupied room 2125.

So, up to our room for a bit of peace and quiet

Excellent views from our 11th floor room, large and spacious with a wide selection of drinks including optics.

Rooms are big and they have everything that you need.

The rooms are modern, attractive, clean, and importantly: very quiet.

From the food buffet, cleanliness of rooms, hallways and court yards, to the courtesy of the staff, our stay was amazing.

The reception staff acted immediately when I reported the problem with the stinky room,

The amenities, like the shampoo and soap, were really awful smelling and totally dried out our skin.

It has flaws such as the shower floor being slanted away from the drain which means water stands inside about 1" deep.

We visited the place at middle of November 2023 , we arrived late after 12h fly , there was one person at reception, waiting 40 min for check in, no one help as with the luggage, so we took it ourselves to the 1st floor ( we stayed in villa) , there was no food, drinks for us , everything was close and the sports bar was empty… The room was covered with mold, the smell was horrible.

Our initial suite/room was not ready at check-in time (3:00pm), quite probably someone was perfuming our room to kill the smoking odor last minute,

During the day it’s overpowering and during the evening can be heard even on 16th floor with the doors closed, in the buffet hall and foyer.

So imagine coming back to your room and the food from the night before and getting slapped with the smell.

That was 5 hours earlier- how had the staff not cleaned up vomit?

Amazing food and service all around, my only complaint would be the amount of cigarette smoking all around the property in indoor common and beach area.

but it’s cleared each morning and we didn’t see any rotting piles of it on the beach and no smell.

We also we had to take a shower with roaches because the water did not go down the drain, so we had roaches to swim around.

On our first night there the jacuzzi in the room wouldn't get hot and the water stunk so we didn't even use it.

He tries to make his way to the bed and is throwing up, dizzy, cross eyed, falling down, and having trouble breathing.

Rooms are damp and needed some TLC, we didn't use the spa bath as the fittings were very old and uninviting.

We Were told You cannot smoke on the secured side.

We had some pop up in the villas on our last couple days, smoking by the pool.

We booked 2 excursions through TUI to Xcaret and Xplor.

Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula

They will bring a credit card machine to you.

They charged my card instead of blocking it on checkin.

When we went to the pool, we were told we need a special card to get ONE towel.the staff was friendly and the restaurant ok.

They charged me 15 dollars an hour for my requested late check out.

Once we arrived,  the hotel claimed that we were a no show and sought to charge us full price for both nights for each of the reserved rooms.

I called to cancel the booking and they charged me $120 and refused to refund it.

:-)   So I called Expedia and they ended up giving me a credit so i stayed rather than try to push further.

I kept explaining that we were not able pay at the moment because we didn’t account for that charge

One minor issue was that we were charged a $50.00 upgrade fee, (we requested ground floor/ pool or ocean view), she said she had one room for us,

but we were charged even more money to get the second room even though it was the room that we should have been given in the first place.

When the credit card company disputed it, they refused again.

Yes, we paid the extra charge for an ocean view and kitchen.

They charge extra fees for everything here: if you don’t wash all the dishes in your suite - fee.

We put a travel alert on our card and used our debit card with no problems.

Kudos to Cindy, the graveyard front desk young lady and Isatchel, our room service person in charge.

The only reason I gave this property 4 stars is because a) they gave me one voucher for a beach towel which entitled me to only one towel for 3 days b) I ordered drinks on the beach which I paid for by card.

Third problem to get an inner court or Seaview room there is an additional 45 dollars charge - their website states that there is a possibility of getting a Seaview with no charge!

great variety at breakfast, nice pool, own beach area, tasty dishes at the beach restaurant, comfortable rooms, gym and relaxation space - everything in place for a pleasant stay.

The hotel rooms, public areas and grounds were really nice and clean.

The hotel is very well maintained with beautiful gardens and trees and the villas and rooms are very clean.

They helped us get a doctor to come to our room who examined her and prescribed antibiotics, then found a reasonably priced room for us for the second night.

It's a low rise with a GREAT BEACH, well kept grounds , friendly staff and clean rooms.

The accommodations are very comfortable - good air conditioning, comfortable bed, 2 free waters daily in room, a refrigerator, room service.
