The only thing I would say which is not the hotels fault is, that I would make sure my room didn’t end in 08, 10 or 12 as it’s next the the elevator and can be noisy late at night or/and early in the morning.

Barging into the elevator before those arriving have had a chance to get off.

The biggest complaint I heard was the elevators.

Areas for improvement:

The elevator situation is REAL slow.

2 out of 4 elevators are broken at all times.

The elevators are dirty and just plain  worn out.

The lights went out on us on the elevator!

The only thing that really needs attention right away is the elevators.

Because this is a tall hotel style building, we found the hallway to be quite loud when trying to sleep, especially since our room was directly in front of an elevator.

The hotel downside is the elevators and ensuing wait times.

Moving around the building is somewhat difficult as stairways are closed, elevators get packed up and take long time.

Elevators are a nightmare, it was small and constantly passing floors.

The entire 7days involved elevator issues.

Only minor negatives, there are only four small elevators for 14 floors, so you have to be patient at peak times or find stairs.

but expect to be caught in elevators, restaurant lines, buffet crowds.

-the towel game is exhausting (I don’t blame anyone who wants a chair, but the hotel needs to move towels and stuff if people are holding places at both the beach and pool for hours while they eat breakfast and get manicures)
- the elevators are small and they take quite a while

Even at the furthest room here, you're maybe 100 steps to the elevator to breakfast, another 100 steps to the pool and 200 more steps to the beach.

but what we learned to do was if u were going up and the elevator was going down or vice versa.

Fortunately her understanding of my Liverpool accent was better than my Spanish.

We honestly don’t have one single complaint, the staff couldn’t do enough for you, the room was clean, the food and restaurants were delicious, staff were attentive, beach beautiful and the cocktails were to die for.

Great staff, restaurant variety and excellent quality food.

There are plenty of pool and beach chairs and the waiters keep drinks coming and serve lunch around the pool and beach.

That said, a special mention goes to Tavola: the pizza there is really good!

though by a large influx of non members with the resort at capacity from one ethnic group.

Best restaurants were Smokehouse and Gondola.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality.

For us, we were up on the rooftop pool and felt like our own personal bar, food service (shout out to the delicious fries and seasoning salt)  and pool.

The food was ok and we always had room at the restaurants.

We particularly enjoyed the pizzas at Tavola and want to give a shout out to our server Daniel Calderas who recognized our family by name when we returned there for a second time later in the week, as did the manager of Gondola, Yair.

With pool bars, rooftop bar, a sports bar, and more, you’re never far from a margarita.

He planned a whole off menu dinner that was fantastic another night.

Would like to know how staff preparing food have been washing their hands.

Also the al pastor quesadillas during the day there are amazing and a must try!

Had great dinner with Oscar and Reuben and Angel.

The food was ok. Dinner was above an average.

I found it safe to go out the hotel catch the bus to Liverpool shopping centre.

I would definitely recommend the Thai restaurant, located in the Liverpool shopping centre, the setting is just stunning - pods on stilts overlooking the lagoon, mood lighting, snuggle sofa, excellent food and great service.

but was an great experience (we booked with the reps at hotel, tui) 10 minute bus ride from the Liverpool shopping centre, with all your high end shops, like Gucci, Rolex & Dior etc.. We done the dolphin experience with tui, 200$ but was amazing, worth the money and I would do it again.

Great variety of shops, bars- Liverpool shopping complex is amazing and well worth a trip out to see.

We also got the bus up to the big liverpool shopping centre.

If you go right you can go as far as Walmart and C & A, don’t go any further as you put yourself at risk
If you go left you can go as far as either Coco bongo or the next set of shopping is the Liverpool centre

The grounds were attractive, the amenities very good and the food was abundant and tasty.

We found enough options for food so that each of us found something we liked.

Salmon was our favorite and the steak was pretty fatty.

The best I can say about their pasta - it was laughable, unappetizingly looking and   - like with most of their food - it was no,

Fortunately, we really enjoyed the food at the  Chinese restaurant.

Staff is very attentive and kind, there is a large variety of food & drinks (i recommend Kulinarium and the asian food restaurant), the gym is small

Food was great, almost all restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive, bar staff were all very friendly too, all staff members worked very hard, and it’s clear to see..

The food and drinks were fantastic, lots of choice and long opening hours.

although most were the same every day, there was always something to eat, there are 4 other restaurants, American, an a ia carte, a steak house and an Asian.

The Asian restaurant was our favourite, lovely food and we went there quite a few times.

Food was okay,  drinks were good, bar staff for the most part was really nice.

but  this while what I am getting is disgusting hot dogs?

3 places to smoke, if your a smoker  which are not adequate for hotel this size.

The middle pool is a pool bar where people were just drinking until they couldn't stand up, smoking in the pool, and we even saw someone taking substances.

If you’re a smoker, I would strongly advise against this hotel.

Our room did smell of sulphur on occasions and the fan does make a noise which you can't switch off so some light sleepers may struggle.

There are staff raking that up each morning and it’s nothing like smelly seaweed and didn’t deter anyone swimming in the sea.

First off the rooms had a horrible mold/mildew smell that was making me feel sick, our rooms were NEVER cleaned unless we requested on the app and even so no fresh towels brought / toilet paper refills.

Areas for improvement: 
We saw many people smoking throughout the resort in undesignated areas, which we found very annoying.

The rooms were a bit dated and the bathrooms could have been cleaner, there was black mold in ours.

Day we checked in, the room had pillows and bed that were giving off a stinking smell, same with curtains

but of course people had to ruin it by leaving their garbage behind, we found broken glass, straws and cigarettes :/ Food was very poor, only friuts and vegetables were great also staff was very helpfull and nice.

No air in room bathrooms, insufficient room lighting, red stained mirrors, pee on the side of the toilets.

Our friends had trouble with electrics on floor 9, blowing lights, hair dryers ect…fuse box looked old and looked like required maintenance, this happened after rain, so probably water in the electrics, they had to sleep with no lights or electric, with a smell of burning, was not resolved until next day, their last day.

Everybody smokes, everybody is loud and inconsiderate of others having a relaxing time.

Liverpool was upscale with stores like Prada, Louis Vuitton, etc.

All the rest of the restaurants were fantastic.

However, breakfast was probably our favorite meal of the day.

We savoured a great diner at Krystal restaurant!

but our favorite was the Steak House for dinner.

Food selection and quality was excellent.

Then max, Santiago and Salvador  also gave great service and good food.

A special thank you to Santiago at the dinner buffet he was amazing.

Food was very good, great selection of fresh fruit, drinks and the steakhouse was amazing!

The food was much better than expected and the Riu Parties next door were incredible!

We enjoy everything about this hotel, the location, staff, food, entertainment,  and rooms.

Other then that we had a good experience and all the servers at bars and restaurants  were great

Villas gave us access to Kulinarium restaurant which was fantastic!

Food, staff, rooms, amenities, beach and service were all outstanding.

The amenities, like the shampoo and soap, were really awful smelling and totally dried out our skin.

It has flaws such as the shower floor being slanted away from the drain which means water stands inside about 1" deep.

We visited the place at middle of November 2023 , we arrived late after 12h fly , there was one person at reception, waiting 40 min for check in, no one help as with the luggage, so we took it ourselves to the 1st floor ( we stayed in villa) , there was no food, drinks for us , everything was close and the sports bar was empty… The room was covered with mold, the smell was horrible.

Our initial suite/room was not ready at check-in time (3:00pm), quite probably someone was perfuming our room to kill the smoking odor last minute,

During the day it’s overpowering and during the evening can be heard even on 16th floor with the doors closed, in the buffet hall and foyer.

So imagine coming back to your room and the food from the night before and getting slapped with the smell.

That was 5 hours earlier- how had the staff not cleaned up vomit?

Amazing food and service all around, my only complaint would be the amount of cigarette smoking all around the property in indoor common and beach area.

but it’s cleared each morning and we didn’t see any rotting piles of it on the beach and no smell.

We also we had to take a shower with roaches because the water did not go down the drain, so we had roaches to swim around.

On our first night there the jacuzzi in the room wouldn't get hot and the water stunk so we didn't even use it.

He tries to make his way to the bed and is throwing up, dizzy, cross eyed, falling down, and having trouble breathing.

The staff are amazing, the food is delicious, drinks are fantastic, and the rooms were very nice.

They have events like outdoor barbecues, there are daily events and pool games and at night they have entertainment in the lounge.

all very good , nice staff, food was very good ,clean , would highly recommend, first time there and we were very happy with services ,pools are clean , beach is clean , good value, close to shopping ,

The food was excellent and there were so many items to choose form during each meal.

Riu Palace Las Americas created unforgettable memories with its exceptional social and fitness activities, breathtaking surroundings, convenient beach access, mouthwatering cuisine, and top-notch service.

If you're like me and food isn't your number one priority and you like great service and the beautiful bones of this place, you will like it.

The public spaces are fantastic, including services, drinks, food activities and few perks if you sign up to be a Riu member.

The food on Christmas at the buffet was one of our favourite meals.

The staff are absolutely great and we would especially like to mention Isia in the buffet restaurant, Nelly at the Cappuccino bar and Adrian and Mary at the art deco bar.

Excellent stay experience with my family, good food, nice beach and with excellent services from front desk staffs to housekeeper.

Wilbert pool server is a Rockstar, as well as pool bartenders Eduardo & Nato, servers Fidel and Jose, breakfast Humberto, Ismael and Edi, steakhouse Thomas and Saulo outstanding!

The hotel was amazing , the staff were all incredible, the food was delicious and the views were spectacular.

This was our first all-inclusive adult resort and over-all we were very pleased with the friendly staff, non-stop cleaning throughout the resort and choice of very good restaurants.

There are 4 restaurants,  no need to make reservations.

The food was good and had different varieties each day.

A knock on our balcony door revealed a woman barely dressed from the other side of our room that had climbed over the 7th story walled because she was locked out of her room after the high winds had slammed her door slammed shut and locked while having a smoke.

The receptionist  by the name Antonio was extremely  nasty.

After a badly, broken ankle  from a wet floor slip into a trench drain located at The Terraza bar, the hotel assumed zero responsibility on the incident stating it was a fortuitous accident.

My room had no A/C, and the smell of mildew and potentially  mold permeates the 3d and 4th floor in main building.

But besides all that the entire hotel has an overpowering smell of black mold.

Even my sheets were damp when it was time to sleep.

but it stunk worse than a gym at peak hours.

The halls smelled funky probably because of the carpet.

Be sure to check out the locally baked goods in the bodega - they smell delicious and are super cheap! Negatives:

Regarding the musty odor, it is definitely detectable here and there.

Security is an attitude waiting for an issue; I'm a smoker and I had a security person following me around while I was putting out a cigarette.

For the pool with the swim up bar, it is limited in ability to access it and it is located near some garbage dumpsters that really smell awful.

The pillows are terrible and also disgusting.

My mattress was too hard and the humidity was so high the AC in room couldn’t cool the room down enough and clothes remained damp for days like wet swimming suits .

The hotel smelled very musty and moldy. 2.

A little disappointed with the beach the water was not very clear.

However, we kept smelling an awful smell every now and then sometimes for a minute or two sometimes for longer periods.

I read complaints before visiting the hotel to see the negative things, I always do that to see how the hotel really is, the rating was not bad, some people complained of the smell, I am a sensitive person when it comes to smells

As with all resorts I've experienced in Mexico, the rooms are a bit damp in the hot, humid summer.

Leslie then told me that I must pay the extra $130.00  immediately to hold the room, so I did.

Two days later nothing came, and I contacted the representative Jazive Soto whom I paid to deliver the rest.

- There is no a la carte option to be able to pay for what is not included.

but If I were to revisit Cancun I probably pay more and stay elsewhere

When I returned, another guest had paid a staff member to take my spot and we were told to move.

So not only did I have to do my own make-up for my wedding, I had to pay over $100 for make-up I did not like.

but when I booked it, they changed the price and then when I checked out, they said I owed even more money.

Non domestic wines are available for an extra fee.

The hotel is kind of dated and the food could be a lot better for the price.

My suggestion: if you have very specific standards, stay at an entirely different type of Resort AND pay the price.

Generally, the food at this Hotel is far away from a real 5 Star Hotel and so was it at our wedding event where I paid 100 USD per person additional to what everybody had already paid for their all-inclusive stay.

though we paid all inclusive fees we chose to eat outside of the hotel due to poor food quality.

I would not rate this hotel more than a 3.5 stars.

5 stars would not be enough to rate these individuals.

l. So that was not good 

One last thing they need to get thier story straight on what they charge for eco / beach tax.

Instead of adjusting the confirmation, they insisted we pay for the extra day until we finally got it adjusted, BUT they insisted on moving our rooms so that they were not connected anymore and were on different floors of the building.

Both were positive experiences, so when we had the opportunity to book through the time share that my mother had purchased at Sandos, Royal Elite, we thought, why not, let’s take advantage of it, since my mom had fallen for their scam and paid over $10,000 years ago.

Make sure to tip waiters, servers and room service employees.

The hotel is well located with solid restaurant options and plenty of room at the pool.

The bar, the buffet and the specialty restaurants are a must!

Lunch and dinner were both very blah and tasteless.

Service is very good, room service 24hrs included.

Book your desired restaurants for dinner as soon as you arrive as they're often fully booked 2-3 days in advance.

The restaurants were really good my fav is the hibachi and italian restaurant.

If you like more boutique style hotel with 25 room service, this is great.

The steakhouse had New York, or lesser cuts (Cabo had a porterhouse,

If you care about food, consider making reservations in the specialty restaurants as soon as you arrive (we liked the Japanese restaurant; Italian restaurant's flaming desserts were great; couldn't get reservations for the steak restaurant).

He is by far the best barman I've ever met, he can make any, and I mean any, cocktail you ask for and they taste phenomenal.

My favorite was learning how to do the perfect margarita for me !

Food is great, you get to choose from different restaurants.

Esteban was a very great chef who entertained us while preparing the best food on the grill.

Day one, the toilet was clogged, the room had no remote for the tv, and no towels in the room.

If you want to use their restaurants and other amenities you have to make a reservation every time, it gets really inconvenient.

We all paid $400-$600 a night so I honestly expected more, now our ceiling is leaking in our room!

The bathroom faucets were weak and none of them would easily clog so water takes time so go down (found this common even in CDMX hotel we were at).

Day 3:  our room got flooded while I was taking a shower.

I stayed for 12 days and only complaint is they have no AC in the Restrooms or hallways bathrooms feel like a sauna not the bedroom Bathrooms

We stayed at the Sens tower and our room was very outdated with lots of mold in the bathroom, also in the curtains, they were super dirty.

first thing when i got here i took a shower and the drain was plugged.

2nd room much better #2443 great view and no musty smell or leaks!

I found out they reuse their cups for drinks and just wash them in the sink, don't even sanitize or use dishwasher - GROSS!!

but still very expensive) 
The resort also has a spa and we paid extra to have massages and use hot bubble baths in a private area.

The windows were leaking water from the rain.

Although the first room that I received the shower was leaking the manager Andrea made herself available and switched my room to an upgrade with no charge due to the inconvenience.

Our room had low water pressure and a funky smell.
