There was enough for everyone to be happy and my kids loved the buffet and the food!

Breakfast buffet was actually best meal of the day.

The food is delicious, especially at the oriental restaurant.

We also ate at the beach buffet several times at lunch which was great, We also ate at the steak restaurant which was OK and the main buffet which was OK. 

Staff were helpful when there was an issue with our transfer and the ladies at Royal reception can’t do enough for you.

The staff at buffet is very polite and efficient,especialy William and Evelyne at the breakfast

but for the level of the hotel the food is not very good, especially the buffet.

The resort has 3 buffets open for differing meals and 6 sit down restaurants.

We had a few unwelcome episodes (for example, the restaurants needing reservation are subpar to the one general buffet).

front desk encounters lacked friendliness, while buffet staff members were a positive exception.

When arriving at the resort, it can be overwhelming to navigate around to the different buildings, plan excursions, and set reservations for meals outside of the buffet.

Food was pretty average in the main buffet

Oh, we stayed over Thanksgiving, and were beyond impressed with the Thanksgiving Diner at the Buffet.

Most restaurants are open-air, so the birds swoop in to steal pastries & items off the buffet.

Food was great at buffets, which I can honestly say is a first.

The tacos were delicious and the best thing we ate here - miles above anything else.

The grounds, staff and accommodations are absolutely excellent.

We had an amazing holiday at the occidental,  the grounds are lovely and the wildlife is amazing!

Also great to see the Mayan ruins in the grounds.

On the plus side the location and grounds of the hotel were lovely with wildlife in abundance.

It is set in lush grounds and is truly beautiful and teeming with wildlife.

We stayed in buildings 14 which is the resorts vacation club/timeshare area.

Easily one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken because of the energy and staff Xcaret encompasses!

Overall we got exactly what we wanted from this holiday.

Also, at other resorts we’ve received vacation packages worth hundreds of dollars in discounts  for attending a time share presentation.

Booked with BA holidays in Jan sale, and got a really reasonable deal.

First family vacation in 4 years and Occidental at Xcaret was a hit.

They will try to get you to buy in to their vacation club (timeshare type of thing), which could be a deal breaker for some.

but it turns out the free gift is given to you from a sales agent who wants to sign you up for their vacation club timeshares.

This Resort is the best opportunity for an ACTIVE vacation.

This was the best holiday we have been on.

This took away so much from us in enjoying our vacation.

but the Fuego food is excellent and it was a lot of fun for our teen.

but if you're thinking your kids will like big kid water slides Jungala was really fun.

We stayed over Christmas and new years for 10 days and both our kids had the best time of their lives.

We have stayed at many resorts in the area and sometimes choose all-inclusive for the kids,

We came here 10 years ago with our 3 year old daughter and we are back with both our children.

People with teens might find royal a little quiet.

What the hotel really stands out in is its location and the fauna within in, it's beautiful to be able to share that living space within several local species and to see children in awe at their site.

They have a good amount of activities and things to do to keep kids entertained.

We have gone with and without kids and it is always a great experience.

Special thank you to the resort (the woman at concierge that set up our dinner reservation in building 22 december 18, 2023) for recognizing my daughters birthday.

They delivered the crib at 9 pm when my baby was already sleeping on my bed.

There isn’t much for tailored to children especially my two year old

This was the 2nd of 3 AI Hotels we stayed in on our family trip with our 10 year old daughter.

Still amazing ten years later, with children this time.

Although they could have been quicker to remove the kids from the pools we loved it.

Having xcaret park next door made this trip amazing for our young children and they were never bored.

The beach amazing and safe for children the pools are very very clean.

Super cheap shopping in playa del Carmen .

Level Royal Xcaret the best place in playa del Carmen.

We've done a few resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

The front desk staff had no solution for me all they suggested was to take a cab to playa del Carmen and get money out of the bank.

We rather travel to playa del Carmen instead of being at the resort.

We spent 4-6 weeks on vacation each year, and spent 7 nights at Barcelo in Cozumel last month as a couple and 11 nights in Playa Del Carmen with our kids, this month.

We were talking up playa del carmen for our family reunion as we've had great experiences in other hotels before

It’s close to Playa del Carmen and not far from tulum.

Francesco put your guide for the club coco bongo at playa del Carmen 15 min away with transportation  was amazing an humble and informative.

Its a great family option in Playa del Carmen.

A shuttle twice a day to Playa Del Carmen would be a nice additional service as you can feel tied to the hotel.

We had an absolute blast, would highly recommend anybody come here for vacation in playa Del Carmen!

I will make a point to return here if I come back to Playa del Carmen in the future.

We also enjoyed the fact that we were so close to Playa Del Carmen that we were able to visit there several times by a short taxi ride,

Fabulous hotel,  in a jungle like setting, on the Tulum side of Playa del Carmen.

The resort is reasonably close to Playa Del Carmen and the Cozumel Ferry.

There are many expensive all-inclusive resorts you can stay at in and around Playa del Carmen.

We had a great time enjoying the beautiful facility and still close enough to enjoy the city of Playa del Carmen.

Short drives to downtown Playa del Carmen gave you access to shopping and ferry trip to Cozumel.

I pre booked a 5 day / 10 dive package (2 Playa del Carmen) "local", 4 Cozumel, 4 cenote dives), Pro Dive (Marta) was very good about accommodating my wish list and very responsive via email.

but then we were told that if we didn't book a bus transfer at least a day in advance we had to pay for a taxi to get there, which I think is ridiculous since the one time we did book a transfer there were less than 10 people on the full sized bus.

If you're planning to beach, and do the various extra paid activities in Xcaret then you need a multi day pass.

though the hotel will rip you off with taxi service of $50 USD to travel 4 miles round trip.

Please tell people it does not apply before they make the reservation a day after they check in if I would’ve known this advance, I would’ve looked elsewhere, knowing I’ll have to pay $1000 difference I would not recommend to any of my peers, knowing they could the price on you after check in.

but we told them we don’t want alcohol, we want the service what we pay for at a so called 5 star hotel.

We paid for unlimited Xcaret so we’re spending our time here.

I will rather for the owners to get rid of the “all inclusive” nonsense.. reduce the hotel rooms prices and charge for the food while providing better quality.

For the cost, they should definitely invest in heaters!

Save your money and go elsewhere place is outrageous expensive I had them wash load and half of laundry they charged us over $400 USD.

Arrived early (b4 11am) and either had to wait in lobby til 11 am or pay $15 US to go and have breakfast.

We didn’t get nothing other than our receipt to show we paid.

For the outrageous price we paid to begin with total lack of customer service.

They refused and tried to extort us for $3000 USD to transfer us!

The service was terrible as well, and no good coffee at the resort not even at the lobby where you have to pay $55.00 pesos for it.

Some resorts you have to pay more to get top shelf,

Checkin attendants were not welcoming, did not pay attention to who was first in line, several people went ahead of us and no one cared or apologized.

well everything starts at the Airport, My Wife and I were excited about our 5th anniversary, so we booked the all-Xcaret experience we paid 4300 dollars for all packages because we deserved a  vacation after working hard for the whole year, and we arrived at the airport and we run to the Xcaret luxury bus and surprise you, not Xcaret when I mention to the person why my ticket says xcaret they told me because is in Xcaret property

Lobster (paying an additional cost) at the El Pescador was the worst Lobster I've ever had.

To get to the 'cenote' without leaving the resort entrance (5 min walk) - walk to the right along the "lobby river" (opposite the tobacco store) , follow the path to the right to the "suspension bridge".

Another thing that bothered us greatly was the fact that the non-smoking areas weren't monitored and thus weren't respected by several of the guests.

The Oriental was the most disgusting Asian restaurant experience I've had.

Water was brown & smelled like rust in every room.

My kids’ room was even worse as it smelled like mold and was dank. The soap and other hotel provided boxed toiletries all appear to have been previously opened,

Room got too damp and cold that both my husband and I ended up getting sick.

- During the wedding they played the father daughter dance song during our entrance
- Power went off halfway through the last song

- 5 had major room issues that needed a transfer or early departure
    - 2 due to sewage smell
    - 1 due to construction noise
    - 1 due to no AC 
    - 1 due to brown water on the floor during check in and needed it to be squeegeed out … then the concierge at building 19 YELLED AT THE MOTHER OF THE BRIDE and told her she shouldn’t have come “so early”.

Also, despite room cleaning coming everyday and changing sheets everyday, the sheets constantly smelled like mildew probably from moisture/humidity.

That smell you'll smell at any resort in Mexico is not mold.

I asked 4 times about the mold getting bleached and was promised it would get cleaned up, it did not.

The bathroom sink didn’t drain well as well.

The room smelled overwhelmingly like paint/spray paint and felt unsafe staying/sleeping there.

Also found out later in week there was a whole entire schedule of events we were not informed of. The room AC was not working 5/7 nights, moldy stench from air vents wakes you from the most deep sleep *which is NOT because the beds are that great,

- on the way back to the room, i used the lobby toilets which were disgusting due to unable to flush.. and was then welcomed by black water from the taps.. 
finally at 7:50pm we was greeted with running water and able to use our toilet.

We stayed for 5 nights, for 1 night and a full day  we did not have power or water, toilets were flooded with poop, numerous safety violations were evident.

butts laying in the sand and used napkins/tissues laying by the pool.

First room has no power, maintenance room 3-4 hrs to repair twice at night on first night; 2nd room as water leaking through light, safety issue; 3rd room has construction in front of our room and woke us up at 8 am which they should start at 9 am, plus the smell, dust, dirty(drywall and nails on floor) and not able to access the room for a whole day.

I have never seen anything so disgusting or pretentious as this hotel.

The worst experience on my life from the moment of booking, the welcome and the room they give me was dirty smells.

The "buffet" is actually really great - don't miss the taco night. 3.

All to save a spot while they go to breakfast or do whichever.

The meals where incredible the breakfast was great the italian reastaurant as well and the best was the teppanyaki.

but as it was a buffet, I wish it was operated as first come first serve rather than by reservation. 3.

I found the adult buffet and Blue Agave tacos to be the best offering.

We stayed at the Cabo property and felt the buffet there was huge and had a lot more selection.

The food at the buffet was excellent, and the Asian fusion restaurant was great.

The food was delicious (except the Naos buffet).

You can only eat at the buffet and bar food during breakfast and lunch.

The A-La-Carte food from any of the restaurants were amazing, lots of delicious options.

The buffet workers were very unfriendly, which was awkward.

I ordered a fish taco by the pool side which was prepared fried and with coleslaw, sauce, tomato and avocado.

Highly recommend breakfast at The Lunch Box.

The buffet was great for the family and we also enjoyed the a la carte restaurant options.

The beach and pool areas were clean, towels were thick and plentiful, and food and drinks were generously served.

Throughtout our stay he kept us apprised of what activities were on daily for us all and also booked our tables at the multitude of wonderful restaurants onsite, there is also a buffet with a fantastic selection that was perfect for serveral of our meals.

The food- the variety at the buffet was very limited for Mexico, the a la carte restaurants were ok, and the steakhouse restaurant was an extra charge which is pathetic.

They also said ‘the kids club is good’ (though you need to go early to get your kids names on the list for the day).

Great service amazing food Diego was our server and he was excellent, 
Children were served first which was great as they weren’t waiting to long for their food, always asking if we wanted more refreshments couldn’t ask more

Also, the amenities for the children ages 3-10 were great: i.e.

The amount of activity for children was a plus!

The pools are excellent with great water parks for the kids.

Kids activities were great, beach well maintained.

My daughter loves the braids she got on the beach.

I spent time with my little niece dancing to the music on the family side in the evening and we had a lot of fun- great DJ, Karaoke, and games for the kids.

The kids club was great and our grand kids really enjoyed it.

Hence, once you arrive many slots are already taken and if you're with young kids eating dinner at 7:30pm or later is a less enticing option to say the least.

We are a family of 4 that travelled with our kids ages 4 and 7.

In the last few days he left the kids with some surprises that made them happy.

He was very attentive and very kind to our children.

We were at the hotel the year was inaugurated -11 years ago-, came back with children and grandchildren much older.

I have stayed in Riu’s in my late teens which are better than this. Shocking!!

so you NEVER have to worry that your kids will be picky / fussy, etc.

My family of 6 visited Paradisus Playa Del Carmen 4.5 years ago.

Paradisus in Playa del Carmen was amazing!!

Location is perfect a 10 min $35 taxi ride to Playa del Carmen.

We travelled to Paradisus Playa Del Carmen at the end of November / 2023.

My Mother and I enjoyed our 5 day/4 night vacation at  Paradisus Playa del Carmen.

This was our second visit to Paradisus Playa Del Carmen and highly recommend this resort.

We were able to arrange a taxi into Playa Del Carmen one day - it was 40US each way, and we were able to arrange a meeting time with our driver to take us back to the hotel.

I stayed at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen 2 years ago and had such a great experience that I went back again this year.

My husband and I booked a 10 day stay at Paradisus La Perla Playa Del Carmen.

but have found this one in Playa del Carmen stands out.

We got a great time at Paradissus Playa del Carmen, our concierge Cynthia Delgado and Erik Flores from Nike did an awesome job and spoiled our kids with the everyday surprises, and the tour at the cenotes was so much fun highly recommend.

You had attendants selling you insanely overpriced excursions and spa services.

Needed medication and was a total rip off in shops.

* no room at the kids club (again, unless you are there 15 minutes before they open at 9am, and they never actually opened at 9am so in reality my husband had to stand in line for at least 25 minutes every morning to secure a service which we actually paid for.

I didn't notice the overcharge, though, until I returned and checked our charges against our contract rates.

The nappies and ear drops cost me 60usd and they added a 20% charge to help us with this!

We tried BOTH of their house RED wines as the first one was very sweet, and the second one still was rather sweet for our liking, so that is literally my only consideration to provide - is whether the hotel can swap one of the house red wines for a dryer one, otherwise you can absolutely pay out of pocket to upgrade!

2 tomahawks and 2 sides for a part of 7 came out to $75 USD.

Then you could get a family padded pool side bed or you could rent a cabana for the day (we didn't opt for that it was quite expensive).

but then they retracted that offer and said we’d have to pay for the nanny.

Sun shirts, anything you may have forgotten to pack, will cost you dearly.

Only concern is to be sure you bring everything you need as everything extra at the resort is 5X - 10X regular prices.

However, everything else was just so underwhelming for the money that we paid.

to the point they consider us VIP without being part of their fishy/scam timeshare, Don't take the presentation, avoid at all cost (i know why).

On the last evening, expensive sunglasses disappeared from the room.

but I’m not sure it’s worth a Premium price anymore since they reduce the number of perks, including very meager snacks in they reserve lounge and eliminating the reserve-only pool and restaurant.

I just ordered a few bottles of sparkling wine from the resort and took them on the truck as the champagne prices at the airport are out of control.

The shop was very expensive (a bar of chocolate cost £10)!

No massive chlorine smell after swimming.

The only issues was the Coati which are all over the resort and like to climb up on the patios and poop.

My little girl was in her last nappy (which she had soiled herself in) and I took her to reception to see if they could charge my room for cash so I could purchase nappies, I literally had to beg them in tears for about half an hour as their response was ‘there was nothing they could do as it was against company policy to give cash to guests’.

It was only open 12pm-6pm, which was clearly a cost saving measure, as it would be bombarded by guests after dinner everywhere, because the ice cream at the buffets was always freezer burned grocery store ice cream.
