but we sincerely thank the beach, bar, and restaurant staff like Alan, Alejandra, Eloy, Emilio, Chapo, Ricardo among others, as well as the front desk staff particularly Litzel, Juan, Marta and the rest of you.

If you want to be in a beautiful beach just steps away from great restaurants and shops, this is your place.

The beach service & Kalak was always on point.

Staff was friendly at the hotel and the beach.

We have had amazing servers on the beach, specifically, Emilio, he is the BEST!!

Beach Chairs and towels are included which was really nice.

Chepo was a fantastic server at the beach!

Very clean, excellent views and one of the best beaches on the Isla.

Great location, the beach and facilities can’t be topped.

The beach is the best on the island and the hotel comes with the chairs and umbrellas.

Loved our room at Ixchel, the weather was wonderful,  beaches perfect.

Eloy and Jhony at the beach and Martha at the front desk work so hard to make sure you have everything you need.

A big thank you to all the waiters at the beach and up at the bar.

Jhony at the beach is ***** such a grateful young man that helped us every day getting our towels and chairs.

We had food and beverages served to us while lounging on the beach as well.

The server at the beach area, Emilio, was so nice!!!!!

Special shout out to Ricardo and Chepo who took such good care of us on the beach!

Only complaint was a loud party one night nearby.

On our third night we were woken up at 12am to a loud rave next door that went on till after 3am.

The only downside to Ixchel is the party boats that park offshore and play their club music on full-blast all day.

Simple review, when I arrived at check in the room I booked was a double bed, was not available, so king bed, so a member in my party could not stay with us, lady at check in was extremely rude and unhelpful on what I should do as I asked for help, she ignored me.

Our party was us and two families each with two children under six.

We did see and hear the party boats at night.

New Year’s Eve night wasn’t too loud either,

The only reason it is not a 10/10 is because on the weekends, the locals have the ability to rent out the beach and this leads to *loud* music being played sometimes past 5 am.

Every night people that are not hotel guest set up shop right in front of the hotel pool on the beach and blast music and party until 4 am.

Very very loud music to the point the building shakes.

And I'm glad the inconsiderate loud family next door only arrived the day before I left.

but mostly drunk people ruin the experience.

There are some issues with boats playing music on weekend evenings

Due to Sargasso, the boats are coming from Cancun, many playing loud music, etc.

We did not find this hotel noisy at all, even with the boats playing music.

In fact, my wife had to call the front desk one night about 2 a.m. to ask them to quiet down the rain party going on outside just below our balcony.

..The beach/boat party on the weekend nights is unbearably loud and lasts until 2:00 am or later.

We eventually did have an issue with the resort staff not liking that we were ordering from the small bar/restaurant and they told us that our party of 5 had to split into 2’s because of social distancing

When we arrived with the ferry (Xcaret Xailing), we had a maletero help us with the luggage and just walked to the hotel.

The pool and beach are so beautiful, and the food we ate from the restaurant was incredible.

It has a very relaxed vibe, and a wide stretch of beach with shallow water that is perfect for swimming.

Anyway, would I stay here again, yes because of the beach and the peace and quiet of the resort.

The private beach is stunning, the beach restaurant was great - just what we needed.

The private beach is beautiful and my suite was spacious.

They will bring a credit card machine to you.

They charged my card instead of blocking it on checkin.

When we went to the pool, we were told we need a special card to get ONE towel.the staff was friendly and the restaurant ok.

They charged me 15 dollars an hour for my requested late check out.

Once we arrived,  the hotel claimed that we were a no show and sought to charge us full price for both nights for each of the reserved rooms.

I called to cancel the booking and they charged me $120 and refused to refund it.

:-)   So I called Expedia and they ended up giving me a credit so i stayed rather than try to push further.

I kept explaining that we were not able pay at the moment because we didn’t account for that charge

One minor issue was that we were charged a $50.00 upgrade fee, (we requested ground floor/ pool or ocean view), she said she had one room for us,

but we were charged even more money to get the second room even though it was the room that we should have been given in the first place.

When the credit card company disputed it, they refused again.

Yes, we paid the extra charge for an ocean view and kitchen.

They charge extra fees for everything here: if you don’t wash all the dishes in your suite - fee.

We put a travel alert on our card and used our debit card with no problems.

Kudos to Cindy, the graveyard front desk young lady and Isatchel, our room service person in charge.

The only reason I gave this property 4 stars is because a) they gave me one voucher for a beach towel which entitled me to only one towel for 3 days b) I ordered drinks on the beach which I paid for by card.

Third problem to get an inner court or Seaview room there is an additional 45 dollars charge - their website states that there is a possibility of getting a Seaview with no charge!

Also , enforce the no smoking rules in the restaurant.

I think because it was hurricane season the beach had a lot of seaweed that smelt really terrible and meant I didn’t spend much time at the beach.

Unfortunately the seaweed was in the water and it smelled awful.

but a very slight downgrade and the bathroom had a very damp smell.

Nasty greedy horrible people don’t give them your business.

Only down side was bathroom smelled sewer-ish, and pool area needs music!

We were welcomed by a horrible stinging smell as soon as we entered our room.

Standard rooms were shabby,run down and smelled funny.

There was definitely no room for 4 people and the smell was atrocious.

The room was in need of repair and smelled, asked for items that were not working and never did get the things I asked for.

Poor service, low quality amenities, short of laundry coins, bad smells thru the hallways, the beach right in front is beautiful.

The octopus was the center piece and it was disgusting, and not eatable.

Treating their guests like cash cows and not replying to their mails once they leave is disgusting and no hotel should allow itself to do it.

Your balcony is no use, unless you don't mind the traffic noise and waste gas smell.

We got the so called one of the most beautiful suit, and the bathroom was roting, and the room smelled disgusting.

but NO ELEVATOR, older property, beachfront is greater but room did not meet my vacation expectation there were rotten decay in the bathroom and the room had poor ventilation.

We got in at 1:00 a.m. after long flight delays and were placed in a room that had just been painted and smelled of enamel.

I've stayed in, I don't know, hundreds of hotels, and that's the first time I've encountered that

BEACH SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE:   This is more of a Cancun problem, than the hotel itself,

I recommend Mercado 28, Isla Mujeres, Xcaret, Valladolid, Chichen Itza.

Having already been to Tulum, Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Chitzen Itza, Isla Mujeres, etc.

My friends and I did the Xcaret trip for $100.

While in Cancun try to visit Chichen Itza, Xcaret and Tulum.

We went on several tours (like xcaret, cozumel, chichen-itzá, tulum and cobá) so we didn´t spend much time inside the hotel during the day

If I had it to do over again, I would do Xcaret.

Also, when we took tours to Chichen-Itza and Xcaret, we were among the last ones to be picked up in the morning.

The white sand beach has all options, enough chairs/towels/amenities whether you wanted to lay back (me and my wife) or do jet-ski/kayaking and other water sports(the kids did).

Hotel is totally renovated within the past few months and has great beach.

The beach is very nice and the water is mostly calm (for which reason we booked this hotel).

The 3 pools were great, and the beach was lovely, with soft white sand.

but 2 are during the afternoon, so mayhem in the bars of the evening luckily we found a nice little beech bar down the road to avoid the chaos.

Beach is great, water is clear, lots of chairs.

in addition to a wonderful stretch of white sand beach .

Excellent 2 week stay in Riu Caribe, Great location at beach and near centre hotel zone.

The beach is beautiful, and did not struggle for sunbeds at all the whole time we were there.

Location was really perfect, beautiful beach very close to promenade and shopping center by Hyatt hotel and Coco Bongo night club.

The beach itself was very nice with many beach loungers.

The beach is very clean, there is sea grass that washes up with each tide,

Love that the beach is directly on the property.

Rui caribe is a very nice hotel the staff were extremely friendly & helpful pools were lovely & so was the beach … the food wasn’t great

but  this while what I am getting is disgusting hot dogs?

3 places to smoke, if your a smoker  which are not adequate for hotel this size.

The middle pool is a pool bar where people were just drinking until they couldn't stand up, smoking in the pool, and we even saw someone taking substances.

If you’re a smoker, I would strongly advise against this hotel.

Another one boiled shrimp not cleaned black line. Disgusting

Our room did smell of sulphur on occasions and the fan does make a noise which you can't switch off so some light sleepers may struggle.

There are staff raking that up each morning and it’s nothing like smelly seaweed and didn’t deter anyone swimming in the sea.

First off the rooms had a horrible mold/mildew smell that was making me feel sick, our rooms were NEVER cleaned unless we requested on the app and even so no fresh towels brought / toilet paper refills.

Areas for improvement: 
We saw many people smoking throughout the resort in undesignated areas, which we found very annoying.

The rooms were a bit dated and the bathrooms could have been cleaner, there was black mold in ours.

Day we checked in, the room had pillows and bed that were giving off a stinking smell, same with curtains

but of course people had to ruin it by leaving their garbage behind, we found broken glass, straws and cigarettes :/ Food was very poor, only friuts and vegetables were great also staff was very helpfull and nice.

even though u tell them constantly you don’t smoke not a very good way to welcome holiday makers absolutely disgraceful behaviour

No air in room bathrooms, insufficient room lighting, red stained mirrors, pee on the side of the toilets.

Our friends had trouble with electrics on floor 9, blowing lights, hair dryers ect…fuse box looked old and looked like required maintenance, this happened after rain, so probably water in the electrics, they had to sleep with no lights or electric, with a smell of burning, was not resolved until next day, their last day.

Everybody smokes, everybody is loud and inconsiderate of others having a relaxing time.

The hotel has an amazing protocol for COVID in every place, not just in the hotel also outside the premises including parks "XCARET".

Glad my two days in Riu Caribe I spent them at Xcaret & Xel-Ha.

however I was happy to stay around the hotel in the day as there is plenty of entertainment and time for relaxation, and I saw plenty of the “real México” on the three trips I went on; Chichen Itza, Xcaret and Isla Mujeres (all of which I highly recommend).

Hotel was a good base from which to do some of the Xparks and this time we had a fantastic (but long day) at Xcaret.

Tui rep also didn’t tell us with any Xcaret trips, if you keep your wristband on you can go up the Xcaret view tower in Cancun for free the following day!

Went to xcaret and xelha and coco bongo all a must visit plso visit la isla shopping centre has a pepsi max ferris wheel to look over cancun amazing vie $275 pesso or $15 us dollars it toom you round 5 times also visited a museum you can get the bus costs 12 pesso each way buses run 24hrs a day if ur not at a bus stop the bus will stop

This hotel has a foam party every Thursday 3 -5pm in the quiet pool near the the pizza and drinks bar and a beach party on a friday night both gd.

First we did Xcaret and watched the evening show - very good

While we were there we went on a lot of excursions including Xel-Ha and Xplor which we booked ourselves through the Xcaret website before going, and a few excursions through Thomson while we were there including the catamaran trip to Dolphin Discovery where we swam with dolphins, nurse sharks and fed the manatees and a trip to Garrafon Park, and Chichen Itza.

The best thing about the hotel is the beach and the customer service.

Entertaintment on the beach was excellent and funny.

The Good: the beach is a few steps away and the pool area is great for kids, the grounds are kept, and the staff is accommodating 

You can find much better than this at the same price in the hotel zone.

The best part of the property is the beach and the ocean. .

The Entertaiment was very good, we had a really good time during pool or beach volleyball.

The locals claim it is one of the best beaches around.

The wifi is working very well even on the beach.

Beach is just stunning, white sand and very clean.

(It's located next to the  money exchange/ pharmacy and tortugas beach. )

Well priced buffet and an awesome calm beachfront.

All in all I can only recommend Casa Maya, especially for its breathtaking views, friendly people and great service as well as the safe and calm beach.

Pools were ok the beach perfect for children as many have described it before shallow with calm waves and soft sand.

The beach is beautiful and the pools are nice.

They wanted to charge $85.00 for a cab to the resort from the airport.

but server insisted charging  370 - “sorry, prices went up.” I would not be so unhappy if I weren’t paying US prices for my stay.

If you ate or drank on property you showed your wristband and were given a 20% discount if charge to your room.

Also, our clothes were kept hostage again because a false claim that our credit limit had been reached.

One of the couple I was traveling with had an issue with their credit card.

but we’ve been to many resorts where customer service is priority and they would replace the drink at no charge.

They then put a hold on my credit card for the amount and I was NOT happy.

the location is perfect - walking distance to the ferry and a short taxi to the strip. The only two small things that we noticed was that our room cards often had to be reprogrammed (they said to keep them away from cell phones

Once we reached the hotel & checked in, we were told that the extra charge for our two children was going to be an additional $55 USD/day which was news to me since Priceline never had me enter the number of guests in our party.

but when we booked they offered buffet breakfast included in the price showed, only to arrive and been told that any meals were included and that the price for the room for 4 nights were 311usd when we actually paid 420usd, so, they couldn't explain why they charged us more than an extra 100usd and didn't returned the money either or give us any courtesy for the mistake about the "included breakfast".

They also have laundry services and charge by the kilo, also very economical.MY only issue was that when I left at 0500 on May 11the taxi service wanted to charge me more than the posted 350 pesos at the front entrance.

but worth the $340.00 pesos that was charged and that does not include the drinks.

They only charged our kids (ages 8 and 10) half price, which we charged to our room.

You do have to put some pesos on your account for charging in the hotel.

He told us whatever was left over we would get back in US funds.

I complained to our hotel contact and all she could say was complete a comments card.

it was the only time we used this credit card ever.

There was a daily charge of $25.00 per person in which could be applied towards drinks/food.

The ATM takes a huge fee and locked me out from using my card calling it fraud. 5.

Very old hotel , the smell of room was really bad.

however we would have struggled with the dampness If we had been there longer.

The Bad: both 1st floor patio door locks were broken making security unnerving, restaurant served us undeniable fuzzy mold on our cheesecake and didn’t comp the meal, the room is grossly outdated and the bathroom construction was shabby at best.

The dishwasher was filthy inside and the outside of the dishwasher was rusted.

but staying at a run down resort that smells terribly that you dread going back to ruins the trip.

The carpet was dirty, the tub was disgusting, they had no room darkening curtains, the bathroom sink leaked and towels had to be piled under.

It’s an outdated establishment and smells musty and old.

We experience sunce we got in mold all over and we got the room was worst our first room had the mold.

but the “upgrade” put me in a very hard Murphy bed that actually smelled a bit of mold.

Cons:
*The hotel is old
*Our room had mold in the shower
*The shower backed up bad
I did let the front desk know and they came out and cleaned the drain.

Smoking is allowed near the pool and on the private beach areas: an unfortunate turn of events.

but dirty (cigarette butts, plastics .  )

however it still smells like mold and the hotel as a hole was a bust!

Also, they permit smoking around the pool so DONT BRING YOUR KIDS unless your ok with 2nd hand smoke poolside We have stayed all over the world vacationing and this has to be one of the worst most MISLEADING places we have visited.

Hotel is outdated, furniture in room is in poor condition, my bathroom door did not close properly, and my sisters room smelled moldy.

One evening after coming back from xcaret at 11pm, my family tried to take a shower

but two, but we experienced Xcaret and highly recommend it!

And, this is why we chose it, because we wanna be more flexible with our time, places to eat, we wanna do all day trips - Chichen Itza, Xcaret, Tulum.

We prebooked xplor and xcaret online before our trip and were happy we did.
