Playacar Palace is located just 1-2 minutes walking distance from the main hub for shopping and restaurants, yet its entrance and beach protect you from the crowds if you'd rather not partake.

Isabel at guest services even went out of her way to make special arrangement for me and my husband to have a romantic Yucantan vegetarian dinner by the beach since we both do not eat meat nor seafood.

However if it wasn’t for the ferry pier, you would think you were somewhere far more remote it was so peaceful.

This was our 2nd trip to a palace resort and we had such a great time  We loved the italain restraunt and momo was awesome as well The pool was great and the beach was nice little sea grass

The lifeguard Aaron and pool concierge Ignacio take amazing care of you when lounging by the pool or the beach all day, which we love to do!

The evening entertainment  at the resort is enjoyable enough that you do not have to leave.There is also a lot of pool and beach daytime activity.

but didn’t use them so can’t speak to service on the beach.

Fun to have so many amenities and a beautiful beach like you would at some of the places further out also be able to walk to town - you literally walk out front, down one short alley, and you're downtown in the hottest shopping area.

We had walk out suites which are incredible, you truly are right on the beach.

The bartending staff were excellent as well, Benito, Caremitlo, Alexis, Jesus, Vicente never stopped keeping our drinks full and Aaron was running tight security at the beach.

The pool was beautiful and clean, the beach was well appointed and the staff were all very friendly.

We stayed in room 416 which is considered a partial ocean view room and we had a great view of the beach and the pool.

So enjoyed the Sunset Sail, Tulum ruins, just hanging at the beach.

Also the recreation staff, Dana, and all the 3 guys making volleyball fun at the beach.

We have been coming since this property opened when it had no beach (a beach was blown in after one of the devastating hurricanes some years ago by the Mexican Govt) and will continue to do so.

If you like go to Mass while vacationing, there is a beautiful chapel a short walk from the resort with Englash service at 10 a.m. Sunday.

This worked out for us as we had a Catholic ceremony at the beautiful chapel on the 5ta Avenida that was a 2 min walk from the hotel.

We really enjoyed the food in the Italian and Asian restaurants (we ate at the Italian restaurant twice).

I think our most special part was at the Italian Restaurant which in my opinion is the best Italian restaurant at Palace Resorts.

The food was good at the Italian restaurant and the Asian restaurant Momo.

He was so fun and took great care of us at the yummy Italian restaurant.

The Italian restaurant and Luis, our server, was awesome.

Both Momo (Asian restaurant) and Bocelli (Italian restaurant) offered many dishes that were delightful to try.

Do the Chef's meal, the romantic meal, Italian dinner, and Japanese dinner as extras.

We enjoyed Tempanyaki twice, the Italian restaurant twice, and various other meals either on the beach or at the buffet.

If going be sure and enjoy the Italian restaurant,Bocelli!

The table side magician at the Italian restaurant was also very entertaining.

In the Italian restaurant- Luis, Jesus and especially Pastor- they went above and beyond.

Ricardo one of the waiter at the Italian restaurant was excellent, also Israel at the buffet restaurant.

At the Italian restaurant, it was Ricardo that made us feel like royalty.

At the Italian restaurant Luis V, Jesus, Pastor, Cecilia and Dabur.

We always stay at all inclusives and this is the first time we decided to pay for food elsewhere instead of eating on property!

We found out the next day that because she and I didn’t go to golf we had a $20 fee each for transportation.

Lots of things you can’t use it for and still need to pay significant taxes in order to use.

After charging my nephew $196 for round trip transportation that was supposed to be free if you book for four or more nights (everyone else in our party had free transportation), he would not change it and then told my nephew that he couldn’t get him transportation after it had been paid for.

There is no charge to use the resort as a palace guest.

Unfortunately the representative I was emailing would not honor that price because I did not choose that option at the time of booking.

--  Whichever property you choose, I highly recommend you bring:
- Small USD $ (1s and 5s) to tip the staff as you wish
- SWIMSUIT and sunblock in your carry on - if your room or luggage is delayed your fun will not be delayed.

Umbrellas and pool chairs are plentiful vs paid upgrades to cabanas at the Hilton and no umbrellas anywhere.

Management no where to be seen unless you are a Diamond member, everyone else treated second rate.

but pay close attention to the notable disparate treatment among the clientele present.

but for us, the perks did not justify the price.

You pay taxes of 16%, so just go buy the items and adventures you want.

but they charged me 387 USD for a tour anyway.

We also had to pay for private transportation when we checked out of Playacar to go to another Palace resort for a few nights.

For members that tour is free so it only costs you the 15 dollar taxi ride per person.

Food is average so not pay for any upscale dinner as they are disappointing.

The test was administered on property for free for 2 of us and we had to pay $19 for the third member of our party.

Spa was delightful- keep in Mind spa credits have limited services and there are plenty of add on costs.

If you go, make sure and visit Carmen and Isabel in the lobby, Israel, Setero, Selena, Yesenia, Julisa and Rigoberto in Cafe Del Mar.

Location is great, just steps from 5th Avenue shops and restaurants.

We had a great stay and enjoyed all the food and amenities on site.

Especially the cleaning crew, maids and room service workers.

We had a great dinner at Momo’s hibachi  thanks to Chef Jonathon.

I was on top on Bocelli Restaurant, pool, beach ferry dock view, and you can see Cozumel right in front of you; in the distance.

They will tell you that you have to visit guest services in order to schedule your Covid test and that's where they will try to get you to commit to the sales presentation.

The resort is a short walk to Quinta Avenida where you can find a lot of shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Jorge,Roger and the the entertainment crew kept everyone moving all week.

At the pool we had a great time with Jorge, Roger and Rodrigo on the entertainment staff.

-Although daytime poolside entertainment was varied and lively, the evening was totally lacklustre.

Spa is amazing, beds are comfy, the entertainment team if you want to participate, and locality can't be beat with the access to 5th avenue or to Cozumel.

We vacationed at Playacar on July 4th, to which they offered an outdoor dinner along with some fantastic entertainment.

The entertainment staff were so fun and personable (Roger, Rodrigo & Jorge).

The entertainment staff at the pool did an absolute wonderful job.

Private show and dinner was really good and not so long and drawn out like normal.

but not so good you need to organize your schedule around them 
- plenty of other activities if interested;water volleyball, water aerobics, blackjack in the pool)
- entertainment staff had great energy.

Jorge with entertainment staff was so sweet to our son, he always looks forward to seeing Jorge.

The entertainment staff kept everyone engaged all day long.

Outside of our room entry door we had a view of the pole and the Papantla dancers at Parque Fundadores which is a short walk from the hotel and near 5th Avenue.

Silvia at the pool, Jorge and the entertainment staff make your stay memorable.

For a smaller resort, they did a fantastic job with the evening shows, especially the Michael Jackson show and Circus show.

The pool service was so friendly and efficient I have to mention Silvia, Danielle, Perla, Besilio, Juan and also the entertainment staff worked very hard and I must mention Fernando?

Book a massage, especially if you have resort credits, you won’t regret it!

We always love spa treatments at the palace.

The spa was amazing, we all had treatments and they were all 5 star.

Our goal for this vacation was to eat, drink, and relax BUT, if you are into tours and spa treatments (which are incredible) then sign up for the presentation and enjoy!!

The team at the SPA perform miracles with the capable hands of : Marina, Carmen, Nancy, Lizet, Adriana, Gabriela, Mercedes, Luna, Sara, Paulina, Virginia, Angelina, and Marguerita

Even such things as the turndown service – Maria, angelica, Margarita added in each subsequent way to the overall sense of exceptional service that is part of the Palace experience.

We love the spa and Virginia and Mercedes are the best.

The food and drinks were delicious, the best h was breathtaking, the spa was top notch,

The spa was also awesome, with the hydroptherapy pools.

This is a small, clean, well-kept resort with absolutely the best employees ever!

They are so attentive, friendly, authentic, and genuine people.

Playacar staff will do everything they can to accommodate all your requests and needs.

We return every year because of the staff who are also our friends.

The resort is smaller, so you can really get to know the staff.

Carmen did my facial and assisted w the couples massage.

The whole vibe made you want to relax and the staff ensured you were pampered.

We were looking for more of a relaxing beach vacation and were also traveling with smaller children.

We enjoyed sitting near the lagoons or on the beach.

My sister-in-law got a room that was perfect for her daughters in Casa Tierra - a ground-floor room with the river beach right outside their patio doors.

Monica, Jimena and Ernesto went above and beyond the line of duty to ensure a pleasant stay.

but we had the entire beach to ourselves.

The food was amaizingly delicious, our suite was in a perfect location, easy access to all the restaurants, pools, and beach.

The service here is impeccable, we really enjoyed & appreciated the help of Neftali on the beach!!

Mojitos at the beach bar were the star of the show and traditional margaritas were excellent (unless you want a sugar bomb). Service.

They were beyond informative and even drew me a bath waiting for me when I got back at the end of a long, hot, beach day!

Toward the end of our stay, she surprised my wife and I by arranging for a "happy 50th anniversary" cake and gave it us on the beach.

but we didn’t encounter any pool/ beach side drink service.

but you could swim the the ocean fed calm lagoons.

Laura and Armando down at the river beach felt more like friends and provided top notch service!

I liked the beach area, bars and restaurants.

For the beach bums, the hotel has its private shoreline with chair, umbrella, and towels.

We enjoyed sitting by the beach and see the sunsets and listen to the waves.

The resort is beautiful, with so much space and facilities (never hard to find a lounger by the pool, beach or inlets).

On Sunday, we were able to enjoy catholic Sunday mass at the Xpiral chapel.

The views of the chapel and ocean were stunning.

There’s so much to see all over the place; from the cove, to the multiple pools, to the Macaws, to the restaurants, and all the way to the top of the chapel on the hill.

We loved our room with the view of the waterfall under the chapel!

Osiel from Xavage and Fernando from the chapel carts, are also worth noting for their heart-warming service!

Eat at Las Cuevas, check out the sunrise from the chapel, and take the boat ride to Xcaret Park.

• DO NOT miss and go to the top of the Chapel and don't be afraid or get intimidated with the potential hike.

The hotel, parks, pools, beach, and chapel are incredibly beautiful and well maintained.

The suite overlooked the chapel and had a partial ocean view.

I would say leave some days to be at the hotel i ended canceling my tour to Xichenitza to enjoy more of the hotel they have an amazing river with water slides and kayaking amazing pool bars, a beach, and a beautiful chapel you can hike up to.

The wedding chapel is incredible and our nephew's service was beautiful as was the reception.

Visiting the chapel was a nice quick thing to do (we were kindly offered a ride up in the little cart which was great as we were there as a storm rolled in).

Our room had beautiful views of the ocean as well as the chapel.

Opened a dispute with my credit card company.

but for a $30 USD delivery charge they could get her what she needed.

Balcony’s door never worked and had 2 people trying to fix it for 2 full days in the room ( so never had privacy or felt like “home”) had to be out of the room so we can get change in the public washrooms with my kids (since they were using the washroom cuz the card that makes the balcony works is in the washroom’s ceiling) .

When we checked out we had a credit due to a refund during the trip.

The last few hours of our holiday where ruined by a member of staff on the  checkout desk he advised us that we had charges for no shows on booked excursions one of the excursions was in fact cancelled by us and we had the cancellation confirmation code and the other excursion we had  attended and had our names registered at the time along with being asked for our wristbands.

During the entire trip, we really only had one issue, a cancelation fee that was incorrectly charged to us.

They charged more for a child than an adult to stay.

My balance can be poor at times so I would have appreciated handrails on the steps.

Upon returning to the resort we went to the concierge and we explain our situation the first person that helped us, she explained to us that we had to make the reservations at the concierge in order to get our credit back.

There was a fotographer on board taking pictures for additional charge.

..they charged us 200.00 usd for late and they had taken our luggage out of the room.

The hotel travel agency will refund the hotel charges if needed

although everyone reassured me that with my proof we would either recieve a credit for a future stay or refund.

They created so much drama I said go and charge me extra I don't care.

We only carried small bills to tip which made it safer than lugging around credit cards.

TIPS: Make sure if you book anything (spa, restaurant or parks) you cancel your reservation if you need or you will be charged a no show fee of $28 per person.

If you are going to charge extra for a superior food experience you had better deliver a better "gastronomy experience" as they market themselves online.

They would not reverse the charge for the upgrade and or return any money for the downgrade.

At the 90 minute presentation I was given a 300 spa credit and 50 dollar discount to swim with the dolphins, only during our move of the room the spa discount was lost and the hotel refused to honor the credit

There is a smoked meat station outside, several stations inside, and the traditional tableside service.

Las Cuevas has all kinds of premium meats where they keep bringing different kinds of grilled meats.

Dinner was half buffet style and half Brazilian steakhouse style with waiters bringing swords of meat to your table until you can’t eat another thing .

Some of the meat was awesome others tougher.

Their meat and seafood offerings were way above what I was expecting, with even a Tuna processing experience made by the chef, ending in a delicious Tuna tartar appetizer.

it was actually high quality and fresh foods and meats.

I will say, the tacos and grilled meats were to die for.

but Las Cuevas was amazing, so lovely being able to dine in the caves and the food was soooo good, my husband is a real meat man so he took full advantage with all the meat that was on offer.

They have a grill station with cuts of fish and meat, that I highly recommend.

The meat was over cooked and over salted at pretty much all restaurants

The steak house was so good, so many types of meat choices to try!

The food options there were incredible from fresh raw seafood to grilled meats and a plethora of desserts.

I don't eat meat and was so happy to have the vegan restaurant Bio to go to.

It’s like a Brazilian steakhouse so there was a lot of carved meats and seafood.

Handmade tortillas and meats are being made in front of you.

The gentlemen serving the meat at Las Cuevas dinner was great.

When green, waiters with meat on swords will stop at your table and ask if you want any.

Our contract and emails were confirmed for meat medium well and lobster with sauce on the side.
