The good news:
- The hotel is shutting down in a few weeks until Jan 2024 to update all the rooms, main pool area, and front entrance.

Although this particular area of town isn’t our preferred area, we would stay at the Marriott again.

The pool area seemed more crowded than the beach area, which was fine with us as we enjoy sitting by the ocean.

Close to the airport and only 10 minutes drive to senor frogs area : bars, or 23 minutes to downtown.

The only positive side is the service in the pool area.

We loved the pool area because they have two very long palapas shading on both sides.

The forced us to eat in a sub par area overlooking not the ocean

Many restaurants in the area if the 6 in the property doesn't have anything you want to eat.

After staying at the Royalton CHIC - it was a breathe of fresh area to get a break from the party, drink your monies worth experience.

He took us to see the areas where they protect the sea turtles eggs and explained the encubation process.

Additional Items to Note - 

- The property is pretty rundown in most areas compared to other Marriotts at similar locations.

There is a path-way from the lobby in the AC area so you do not have to use the beach or street to access. 4.

The location is splendid and the beach area is the best.

There is also a basketball area, and fussball machine.

This location is also further from main area for restaraunts

The public areas are quite nice and the staff are excellent

Specifically the team working the pool and beach area.

The sushi and chicken skewers I had almost everyday, the hummus, happy hour facing the ocean below the pool area.

There was no construction noise nor party noises,

There was some outdoor construction going on at Hana,

We could have stayed somewhere else and returned after the construction was completed.

The only downside was the construction noise.

There was some construction being done in the late morning

The only big downside in June 2021 was the loud construction all day—our room had hammering and pounding on the wall pretty much every day during work hours, so when rain chased us from the pool and beach there wasn’t much relaxing.

Non-stop construction noise, sorghum everywhere, people reserving pool chairs with towels for hours, salesman near towel area, and very pedestrian food for a four star resort.

There is CONSTRUCTION and not much music.

Outside at the pool the entire day is construction noise.

For those of you wondering there is some construction happening at the resort

I'm sure the hotel has changed since Covid and maybe the construction is complete as well as better customer service.

The only construction going on was at the pool, as they are putting canopies over some of the seating area,

Most of it was under construction at the time.

but this construction was not on things damaged by hurricane.

The loud construction noise was starting to wear on me and it was less than 24 hours from the point of which we had checked in.

MARRIOTT if you are doing construction next door have people stay an another wing!!

Located in the Playa Delfines area, the resort is conveniently located near the airport and nearby plenty of good restaurants and things to do.

The beach area is clean and a great place to hangout.

It was a real pleasure to be well attended by the all members of restauration areas, especially by Alberto from Venice reataurant.

The beach area is private with boogie boards, snorkeling gear, and kayaks to check out for free.

A few minor changes could make these areas more "cozy" and pleasant.

I am afraid that the staff knew that all the villas are stinky because of smoking as we could see other guests smoking on the villa's balconies or at the pool area.

Service was really good from all areas, reception, bars, restaurants, entertainment, cleaning, gardening, pool @ beach staff.

All areas were kept clean with staff constantly cleaning.

The beach area to the right is great, Sea is calm and warm,
Most serves on the beach were good, They were tipped well at the end of each day with good service, But some seemed to expect a tip every drink and never game back to you if you didn’t give it,
It’s inclusive so you shouldn’t be expected to tip, Although I do if service is good,

Guys serving on beach MONTIEL, ALEX, JONATHAN all greats guys and worked hard, deserved their tips.

Food was amazing too..big up to the Chefs and the waiters..always service with a 😊 smile..only 2  areas of improvement would be more options at the 24 hour snack bar and to see more cultural entertainment..loved my first night re the entertainment.

Property is sprawling with multiple pools and a large private area on the beach.

Also a coffee shop area near the main lobby that made fresh coffees and a selection of cakes and pastries which we went to each day after being in the water.

Went to the painting area, only to be welcomed by a closed sign.

It feels like luxury when you walk into the lobby and the pool areas.

The service was really good from all areas the waitress/waiters, entertainment, cleaners, everyone!

Classic Mexican low key bar tender - Bernardo at the pool bar has been here fron the start - always see himw working hard, mixing excellent drinks - like the milder Bloody Mary my wife like and his great crew of servers - always providing and checking about your drinks in the pool area.

Food area the steak house was my favorite.

!… Maybe one opportunity area are the maîtres, they could be more comfortable… the entertainment are so good!! Congrats

but we took a bus to the public beach one day (Playa Delfines) and walked on the beach for an hour and jumped the waves. :)

The amenities, like the shampoo and soap, were really awful smelling and totally dried out our skin.

It has flaws such as the shower floor being slanted away from the drain which means water stands inside about 1" deep.

We visited the place at middle of November 2023 , we arrived late after 12h fly , there was one person at reception, waiting 40 min for check in, no one help as with the luggage, so we took it ourselves to the 1st floor ( we stayed in villa) , there was no food, drinks for us , everything was close and the sports bar was empty… The room was covered with mold, the smell was horrible.

Our initial suite/room was not ready at check-in time (3:00pm), quite probably someone was perfuming our room to kill the smoking odor last minute,

During the day it’s overpowering and during the evening can be heard even on 16th floor with the doors closed, in the buffet hall and foyer.

So imagine coming back to your room and the food from the night before and getting slapped with the smell.

That was 5 hours earlier- how had the staff not cleaned up vomit?

Amazing food and service all around, my only complaint would be the amount of cigarette smoking all around the property in indoor common and beach area.

but it’s cleared each morning and we didn’t see any rotting piles of it on the beach and no smell.

We also we had to take a shower with roaches because the water did not go down the drain, so we had roaches to swim around.

On our first night there the jacuzzi in the room wouldn't get hot and the water stunk so we didn't even use it.

He tries to make his way to the bed and is throwing up, dizzy, cross eyed, falling down, and having trouble breathing.

Rooms are damp and needed some TLC, we didn't use the spa bath as the fittings were very old and uninviting.

We Were told You cannot smoke on the secured side.

We had some pop up in the villas on our last couple days, smoking by the pool.

Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula

First time in this area and at this resort.

We had an ocean view deluxe room which was  extremely clean, well equipped with spectacular views overlooking the pool area, beach and the ocean.

The hotel is nice a lot of nice pools and bars and 2 Jacuzzis at least the beach was astonishing and the staff were friendly especially Johnny a waiter at the beach bar he was really helpful and smoke English so he was able to answer my questions about the hotel and the area very cool guy !

though the hotel is very large it doesn’t feel suffocating because it has plenty of common areas, decks and pools.

We woke up the next morning to a beautiful view of a clean and modern hotel and pool area with side sea view.

Large pool areas, with separate kids/family area.

The staff also does a great job cleaning up seaweed to help keep the area clean for swimming.

The place has a kids' area with a pool and an adult pool area with a bar far apart.

- reception area needs improving especially the drop off area which is pretty dire.

It not too loud like other resorts in the area and the food and and drink are amazing!

Airport -Cancun (CUN)

Rental car - yes if you exploring the area,

Pool alot of pools they have a adult area witch is very important..  three different restaurants 100⭐️

Shout out to Enrique at reception area, Enrique at buffet, Sandy at beach bar and Santos from housekeeping.

All areas are kept clean with frequent anti Covid wipedowns.

Separate areas for children with featured pool attractions.

We were lucky enough to have a room in this area and it was fantastic.

There’s construction on one side of the hotel,

major construction was happening Dec 10-17, 2022 when we were there, right next to us in B601, and that was a vacation destroyer.

Plus the building construction is pretty unsightly.

Now the paving slabs are being replaced and it is impossible to swim in the children's pool and the adjoining adult one, the dust from construction works flies in the face and water.

Still some construction going on for now, so that was our only "cleanliness" negative.

They were remodeling on side of the hotel

Hotel is under construction 24/7 Jack hammering around the pool.

Unfortunately we ended up in a construction place with loud people that couldn’t behave.

The Cons: as for now the hotel is undergoing reconstruction that creates some construction jobsite-like noise during week day time.

We also heard construction noises all through the night our first night there.

but part of it was also under construction.

Construction: Yes there’s construction going on, no it did not bother anyone as you can’t hear the noise and they’re done early, it will be out of your way. Promise.

CONSTRUCTION AT THE RESORT:

There is some construction currently being done.

What you don´t know is that once you arrive you find that they´re doing some construction right at from of the beach: so you´re trying to enjoy Caribbean sun with slap-hammer music and construction noise.

Construction at the establishment was only a slight distraction; to see continued investment makes me want to come back.

There was construction going on all day (except Sunday)

I assume the hotel will be bigger as there is a lot of construction and renovations going on.

You are 1-mile either by the sidewalk on the main road or down the beach to Playa Delfines beach which is a beautiful public beach.

12 pesos and you are 15 mins away from Playa delfines ( which has the CANCUN sign you'd wanna take pictures at), 15 mins from playa tortugo and playa lagosta- again beautiful beaches where someones always offering you to buy drinks or food.

The hotel is located 25 minutes walk to Playa Delfines and El Rey Ruins (worth visiting) and a minute away from the Mayan Museum.

Emporio Cancun

Yoania – She had a beautiful way of connecting with you and making your stay better while around the Coral Level buffet area.

The same goes for the staff in the pool area, the cleaning crew, staff at the lobby.

Saby waitress in the pool area, I did not meet such a positive and involved person, she made our holidays special 😘.

The staff here is made up of an amazing team in every area.

I would like to acknowledge the bartender at the swimup bar( I don’t remember his name) and Santiago from the other bar in the pool area.

It would have been nice to have a quiet area on the Coral side.

The beach and pool areas were pristine, perfect for relaxation.

There are a lot of sitting areas around the pool and at the beach.

The only time you saw people was when you went to the pool area.

The entertainment team at the adult pool area was PHENOMENAL.

This resort is 10x better than all the others in the area.

I loved how much fun my family all had at the pool with Alex and Pedro (they deserve a raise they made it a great experience for our entire time), Eli at the pool bar kept us hydrated and having so much fun and Alvan at the private beach area made the beach experience super nice and relaxing.

The pool area is clean and during my stay, the guests were all mature and fun.

Specifically:   Jay at the customer service desk (super friendly and recommended some fun things to do around the area; always said hi to us as we were talking through); Erik at American Bistro (when he learned we liked Mezcal, he suggested several drinks while we were there without us even asking!

The Coral section has its own pool, buffet, lounge area, etc, so you won't be hassled by young kids (I'm a mom of 4, and I love my kids,

We stayed in the coral level area (adults only) and it really made a difference.

Rocio and Alejandra who serve outside of the pool area were really great and always checked in on us.

You have your own private bathroom, living area, tv etc.

The location of this property is excellent..a five minute walk to the spectacular Playa Delfines and backed by a beautiful golf course.

We moved rooms 3 times that night because, in addition to the damp, the first room was on the ground floor overlooking the kids' pool and the second room overlooked the ventilation system for the whole hotel.

Cons: toilet in the bedroom was tired as well as the gym, reception and concierge staff were not very friendly and quite robotics (one morning at 6.50 I approached a gentleman at reception, possibly the night manager, reporting that the water dispenser in the gym was not working as well the A/C so I asked him for a bottle of water, he laughed and told me that I should buy it in the café.

1) we don’t have FIRE/ SMOKE sensors in the room.

The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the buffet breakfast at our hotel

Breakfast was cold every day (they put the hot buffet right below an AC unit).

There was a strange smell, the bathroom vent didn’t work, the AC is SUPER noisy and leaks.

Air Conditioner was very noisy and leaking.

The "suite" we were originally assigned was pretty bad with two AC compressors for a view

Our air conditioning in our room did not work, even after we requested servicing.

Room, comfortable, the Air Conditioning Unit malfunctioning, extremely noisy, it was not repaired.

Checked out of room 701 to 706 that had no water supply as well
- waited in the wee hours of the morning in the lobby with luggage from 4am till 5.30am
- given room 612 as a temporary measure to sleep on for 1 hour before tour
- finally given on the second day room 67 which also had water leakage the whole night from ceiling above air conditioning compressor

Check in date: 24 Sep 2019 and out 26 Sept 2019

Rooms were decently sized, A/c was little noisy

The air conditioner went on and off intermittently.

We found the bedroom very warm and could not figure out how to turn on the AC.

The room had an old appearance, airconditioning was very noisy, safe was not usable, and worst of al, when my roomdoor was closed, there was a 1 cm gap.

however when we were there in December pool was freezing cold.

The WiFi supports streaming no problem

There are 4 jacuzzis and you can adjust the temperature from cold to roasting

The gym is really big and we'll kitted out

There are 2 lifts which are never busy and plays funky musak.

but the air conditioning still not working.

At first the area appeared to be devoid of any activities

The pool area is beautiful at night with the lights and music.

There were also areas of the hotel we weren't allowed to use because we didn't have the right wristband.

The pool and surrounding area is nice to relax in.

Pros: staff working inside the hotel, especially waiters and housekeepers, room was spacious and clean, location was excellent (right in the city centre, next to the entrance of the hotel zone), free secured car park, pool area.

The outdoor area was BEAUTIFUL; truly an oasis.

My room was large, with a balcony overlooking the pool area with a bathroom, a large TV and a clock-radio that has a port for iPhone.

Our suite was clean and cool, the staff were friendly and helpful and the pool area was quiet and spacious.

The pool area, restaurant and our room were all attractive and well thought out.

The outside area is the best part because there are sofas with a bar/restaurant and a big pool.

The pool area is superb and relaxing with palm trees and greenery.

The pool area is great with a great range of food and drink on offer all day.

We were given a room on the top floor facing the pool area which left us very suprised and delighted.

Close to everything, clean and beautiful pool area!!!!!

The service is excellent especially Filemomon and Sergio at the pool area.

There are great tacos to eat around the area.

Hotel comes with a nice pool area with cabanas and a bar with live music.

The bus stop for hotel zona is a 2 min walk away (go right as you come out of the hotel then turn right) with the bus journey (take bus R1 or R2) of about 15mins depending where, playa delfines is about 25-30mins.

The location is perfect next to all the good resteraunts and about 20 mins from Playa Delfines by bus.

9) Beach (buses take you there): playa delfines.

The space under your door allows you to hear every sound out in the hall.

In the mornings you can hear the names being called for the various tours.

I have a bad knee and crossing the busy streets of fast traffic was really scary for us.

but every single time I’ve been to the pool there were kids..I think maybe the two hotels are connected and one half is adults only and the other isn’t but that doesn’t help when you want to relax without kids splashing about in the pool and making noise when you specifically book a hotel because it’s adults only..?

Drunken people shouting, furniture beeing dragged over the floor, in the daytime by cleaners,  in the evening and night by guests.

Who wants to watch the traffic and hear the noise while enjoying a beer?

Avoid the second floor because of the noise of the ice machine.

Generally the soundproof in the hotel was terrible.

Internet is literally horrendous ( see attached a speed test ).

The toilets sound like airplane toilets so ask for a high floor so you don’t need to hear others in the middle of the night.

Had the worst experience ever staying in this hotel:
- original room 47 given had extremely noisy and faulty air conditioner
- room 401 given next had existing guest staying in it
- room 701 given next had no water, electricity and water was leaking from bathroom ceiling that flooded the floor
- could not sleep till 4am and told to move to another room.

but the weekend must have had a lot of traffic as it dropped off several times during the mornings.

Only thing is not really well isolated we could hear people in the hallways.

Guests slamming doors late at night and it was very disturbing due to the poor insulation.

Although the combination of music from pool entertainment & the massage music was a bit distracting.

Anselmo the doorman was a constant source of useful information.

When we did, the floor was filthy underneath.

The toilet always had a strong smell of urine and on two occasions I woke to find that urine and tissue from somewhere else had appeared in my toilet bowl.

For some strange reason, they spray plants with chemicals in the morning when people are waiting to be picked up for tours.

The pool itself needs to be drained and repainted and tiles cleaned of black mold.

Our bedroom was old and smelled a little damp Everything was a bit dated.

but a blood stain on the sheets, dirty marks on the duvet and pillows, smelly bathroom drains and weak shower pressure set the tone for fortunately what was only a one night stay.

though they would stop spraying perfume in the hallways though!

5) Strong fragrance smell in the air -- if you allergic to fragrance like me or do not appreciate strong fragrance smell, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL

The room smelt musty and the street noise was quite bad.

No running water in the steps leading up the the spa, it was filled with debris.
