A fun alternative is to walk to the marina (10 min walk) and pay $10 for a water taxi to take you to the lovers/ divorce beach.

This was well worth it as we got a tour around to Divorce Beach on the Pacific side and of course, the Arch.

On the other side is the Pacific Ocean,well known as divorce beach.

Stayed two nights at Bungalows and was rewarded with two sleepless nights due to an insanely loud barking dog.

but far enough that you can't hear the noise of the party scene (though there are quite a few barking dogs and one enthusiastic crowing rooster in the neighbourhood).

Minor stuff: Night noise from dogs and discos, sluggish wifi.

You will hear morning birdsong, dogs, cats, children's voices from nearby schools and yes, some neighbours partying and singing into the night,

Only minor downside: there are dogs barking at night

An occasional dog barking and the roosters crow much worse in Key West!!!

It will be helpful to bring ear plugs since a few nights there were dogs barking in the neighbourhood and it got a bit noisy!

Barking dogs, roosters calling and birds chirping loudly at 630 am.

Overall we really liked The Bungalows, especially the proximity of the hotel to everything you might want to do in Cabo. Our only issue was that we are both light sleepers and the city noise (trucks, dogs barking, etc.)

As to the bad reviews on this site - they complain of mosquitoes, dogs, small furniture.

It is also in a residential area, so one also has to contend with dogs barking, roosters crowing in the early morning, and people talking and laughing loudly.

Oh - don't miss out on Valentina the giant dog who lounges in the office.

but do know that the sidewalks come and go, and can be very uneven; you can find yourself walking in the street next to trucks, motorbikes and big dogs.

however just be mindful of the fact that there are some stray dogs wandering the streets and some gated also.

We travel with a small portable white noise machine which covered up the barking at night so no problem sleeping.

As stated in a couple of the other reviews, The Bungalows Hotel is located in a small neighborhood and you will hear some dogs barking, cars going by etc.

You do hear some street noise and a few dogs barking once in a while along with a rooster now and then,which I found quaint,

Be prepared for a bit of traffic noise in the evenings and the occasional dog barking

There is no radio and the television does not get local channels,

Potential guests should also be advised that there are no televisions which may be seen as a plus for some and not so much so for others.

The only "drawback" is that there are no TVs.

Although there is no cable, there is a large selection of movies at the front desk.

Also of note - I'm not sure if I should have expected there to be NO TV.

but we couldn't get the tv and dvd player to work.

The only downside (although this was a bonus in my opinion) was that the TV didn't have any channels,

however, Uber is easily accessible if you chose not to walk.

It's very safe to walk around at night and you MUST try the Argentenian sandwich stand across the roundabout.

The hotel is a little bit of an uphill walk from the downtown shops in Cabo

but just a 10 minute walk to the sites and tourist areas.

This little boutique hotel is well located near the Centro area of Cabo San Lucas, with convenient and interesting walking routes to get you in and out of the Marina.

We felt safe in the neighborhood walking to and from town at all times, even coming in very late.

When you walk through the gates, you enter another world--Mexico without the resort hype.

Clean rooms, great breakfasts, 15 minute walk from downtown means that you are close enough to get to the shopping and bars

It was easy to walk to many of the local attractions from this spot.

When we walked back, the owner greeted us and personally cleaned her knee and applied the antiseptic and bandages they had on hand.

Close to the boardwalk at the downtown area there is one of the best beaches in Cabo: Medano, and again you can walk from the hotel if you are a walker (25 min).

So you, fellow traveler, are clear, it is a little walk to most “activity”.

I didn't find the estimates to be off, it was an easy walk to so many places.

A five minute walk gets you to the downtown area.

It is a short walk to town with an uphill return.

It was under construction and WINDY, both of which we didn't expect.

Only to arrive after a long day,  they book you in, then tell you that they are having maintenance issues and they will be sending you to their sister hotel, way out of town,

but were disappointed this year when we found out the construction of the Grand Solmar has taken away a pool from the Solmar.

Besides wasting the whole afternoon in their crazy shuttle, we wasted the evening trying to fix the air conditioner… (10) By the second day we were there they started construction in 2 rooms, one right by our right and one right by our left.

Yes, our first room was a bit outdated and unfortunately was right next to/over the construction happening on their new entryway,

Construction was still ongoing at the Solmar,

We moved into a room, that was away from construction noise and had sun.

Another issue was when ever we wanted to take a nap in the middle of the day they had construction going on continuously and the worst part was the Jack hammers.

Despite some negative reviews I read there was hardly any construction noise.

The resort again was inundated with construction noise from the additional lobby work.

Construction going on which was very loud at times.

But more than that, we were given a room (told it was a free upgrade to a special suite, "no extra charge"), only to find a major jack-hammering construction project was going on right outside of our balcony, 10 hours a day.

Because of construction, we were relocated to the Playa Grande from the Solmar Resort and Beach Club.

The beds were comfortable and I did not hear any of the construction noise others have mentioned.

The prices are bad to start with then they add IVA tax and a 10% resort service charge - which according to the manager is optional

We also played multiple cards games on the daily.

I would caution people that they do charge to the room even if you request to pay separately which caused disruption at checkout

The resort will shuttle guests to their other properties without charge.

The All-Inclusive option is a tremendous value and we love the food and drink options, we do wish the tip option was a little more transparent so we could ensure if we were tipping on the room charge that it would go to our server,

They wouldn't let uber past the gate because the hotel charges $100 for airport when it's $40 for uber.

I paid the balance a week before the trip.

Paid online and my card was processed on Mar 19, 2022.

One thing to be aware of is you cannot add a tip to your credit card.

Don't drink any of the bottled water provided in the room or you will be charged.

I lost $800, and no credit was offered either.

Not even a place to charge your phone by the bed.

Additionally we got home to find $$271.00 additional charges on our credit card.

I was charged 40.00 for 4 shots of Don Tequila when I have been sober for 30 years.

On top of that they triple charged our credit card charged us the day we checked out days after we left so now we have to call the bank and have that fixed.

but he could use my west jet credit card.

The rental agent agreed and it was only when I received my credit card statement when I returned to the US that I saw I had been charged the higher price.

Has overpriced restaurants charging $25 for a fettuccine Alfredo when their sister facilities sells full seafood dinner buffets for $37 for adults and half for kids.

Walking over to Divorce beach and snorkeling over at Lovers Beach is a highlight.

We were able walk from the hotel to climb over the rocks to Honeymoon Beach, Divorce Beach and Lovers Beach to swim in the Sea of Cortez.

You are a few yards away from what they call divorce beach.

If you are reasonably fit and up for a scramble you can walk to lovers/divorce beach - bring your snorkel or rent one at lovers beach to swim at pelican rock.

The rock formations are phenomenal and offer small beaches including a honeymoon and a divorce beach; both lovely!

The location near land's end was perfect as well, so you can hike over the small rock formation to get to Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach.

If you would like to take a ride from the harbor (marina) to the arc or a lovers beach, divorce beach,Medano beach, look for "el Capitan Perico".

We walked to the end and went up and over the big rock hill to the lovers beach and divorce beach.

Solmar is RIGHT in the middle of the marina, el arco (the arch) and between Divorce beach and Lovers beach.

From the location point of view, you can stroll along a magnificent beach undisturbed and access Divorce Beach and Lover's Beach by climbing over a small rock hill.

If you're in good physical condition, you can climb the rock formations a short distance from the resort and make it to Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach within a 5 minute walk from the resort.

The walk over the rocks at the end of the peninsula led to Lover's beach (swimable) and Divorce beach (not swimable).

So, don't pay extra for the taxi and just climb the big stone (a very easy hike with sandals NOT flipflops) and you're at divorce beach, which is right across from lovers beach.

The location is great, price was super reasonable even during a holiday, walking distance to downtown and the marina and a huge beach area to walk up and down.

The view when you walk into the resort portion is breathtaking, and it was so peaceful and quiet while we were there.

The easy walk to town is perfect, you can be in the party of Cabo or escape back to the peaceful gem of the SOLMAR.

We walked out of the pool looking like Nikki Minaj!

We took morning walks along the beach multiple days and followed a humpback mama whale and her calf feeding.

it is an easy short walk to town and the marina.

Loved the functionality of the room with kitchen, nice pool and convenient location to walk to the marina.

The busy, lively marina area and downtown is a 15 minute walk from Solmar.

The marina is a 5 minute walk with a ton of restaurants and attractions.

The resort has a beautiful view of the ocean, beautiful sunsets, and is within a 5 min walk to the Marina.

Loved walking the beach, watching the sunset from the room balcony, and seeing whales from the beach.

The location of the hotel is a good walk up a hill from Cabo and the people trekking said hill on a daily basis with packages of food was depressing to view.

From the minute you walk in you are reminded that their posh property next door is they really care about.

The resort even has a bus and shuttle service that transported us to most of our excursions, and the others were close enough to walk to!

We also love that we can easily walk to town.

me and my friend wanted to do a photo shoot at lovers beach and divorce beach and it was incredible.

While Casa Dorada does offer a 2 for 1 special on alcoholic drinks on Tuesdays from 11am-12pm and 3-4pm, the drinks are very expensive.

I will join others in saying Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort and Spa is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive.

cabo is just expensive and things like water or coffee are not complimentary.

but not worth the price
Much better deals out there so check around.

This time we noticed a drastic change in room prices as well as food and beverage costs.

They seemed more interested in aggressively selling cabanas at seemingly inflated prices rather than catering to the needs of hotel guests.

but was just okay and if we would have had to pay it would have been almost 100.00 US for two.

We were told it must be purchased from the resort at their exceptional high prices.

However, I am a bit mixed as we had good pool side service along with the food (which is a bit more expensive vs outside the resort).

12 Tribes in particular was absurdly expensive.

My disappointment was the unreasonable increase in food prices.

but this added expense will be a factor in my decision to move my family to another hotel on future trips.

Prices seemed a little outrages, rivaling Vegas at appx $10 a beer and $20 for a mixed drink!

It costs a little more than some of places I had researched prior to booking

The one area of caution is arrange your own shuttle service to the airport, they will tell you taxi  prices are one price then bate and switch you then you are stuck because you trusted their advice.

but they did a 100% increase in food and beverage prices.

My only criticism would be the would be the high cost of food and beverages at the hotel.

If there was a downside, drinks are very expensive poolside.

LOCATION: the resort’s website seems to leave out that the hotel is nestled next to a night club…the beach in front of the resort is a constant party scene with blaring music and relentless vendors often times trying to sell inappropriate merchandise to children.

Every time someone would flushed their toilet, the jet tub would make a gargling sound.

Our room was directly across from one of the busier clubs and with your patio sliding door closed you could barely hear anything.

The nightlife in the area might be a little noisy for early risers,

The pre recorded artificial crowd noise got old quick.

Everything was 5 stars except for the loud noise from the club a few doors down.

It was non stop noise for morning to night.

The rooms were very sound proof as well, we never heard any hall our outside noise.

The only negative is that there is a bar close by (Mango Deck) that is a little loud at night

Our door opened up to the sounds and smells of the hotel trash and parking.

Along with the umbrellas & chairs there is a near constant stench of weed.

Since you're in the middle of a popular area, it can be a little noisy at night from clubs nearby,

The only minor issue was the somewhat loud noise and music coming from the Mango Deck (the beach club bar adjacent to the property).

It does get active and loud in that area,

There are several popular restaurants/beach clubs surrounding the resort that can get a little loud.

However, it is awful if you are looking for anything like a quiet get-away.

The Office, Omega and Mango Deck have a lot going on which is great if you want to walk over a short distance to party and eat/drink on the sand on the beach.

Enjoyed lounging by the pool and walking to restaurants they recommended.

but the location is central so we walked to a lot of great restaurants within walking distance.

I was walking along the beach and I saw that the place is clean and with air conditioning inside and the experience was extraordinary despite the fact that I was not a guest of the hotel and the work staff was excellent.

My husband did approach Freddy, one of the managers, about this and he literally looked at my husband and walked away.

Great location for beach time, or walking into town or down to the marina.

The resort is very nice and walk to marina, downtown and Walmart are all plusses.

We prefer to stay here, stalk our kitchen with beverages we like, and then walk to any of the nearby restaurants for meals.

I like to walk to restaurants and not worry about transportation everywhere, I like rooms with a view, and i especially appreciate great staff that make my vacation more memorable.

You can walk down to the beach within a few steps or just dine beachside.

Located right on Medano Beach just a short walk to downtown Cabo, Casa Dorada is a great place to stay.

This is perhaps the most well-situated hotel for dining and bar hopping in the area; the choices of amazing foods and drinks within 10 min walk are endless.

Walk out to the beach, to town and local restaurants.

Easy to walk everywhere in downtown Cabo.

Why is Casa Dorada our choice, because:

even though it was pre paid, with multiple ‘add ins’ and two attempted card scans which we stopped.

Management team did not do what they said they were gonna do with credit and meds.

In conclusion, I urge you not to stay at the Tesoro during hurricane season, as they will provide the bare minimum of services while charging you the full price.

Tried over charging us for extra fees we had already paid for!!

I refused, and after almost an hour of haggling with her, did she give us a $100 room credit.

I am a timeshare owner at tesoro in Cabo San Lucas I wish I had never bought the second set of points it seemed like every other time I go there something goes wrong they'll promise you one thing and turn around and charge you for something they should have never charged you for I'm advising you people take it from a timeshare owner it's better just to find a deal on Google or one of the travel companies than to buy any timeshare there it is absolutely not worth it take it from a timeshare owner

When we went to the desk to verify this was legit (again, trust has tanked), we were told that while most people do credits at checkout,  he could see that our voucher expired that day.

Room keys are old card swipe and had to be rekeyed twice during visit.

The next day we packed up followed those directions and this person was no where to be seen and they refused to refund the balance of the prepaid nights.

I kindly disputed the charge and back and forth a few times until I had to fill out a form for them to remove the water bottle charge, again stupid and waste of time.

Make sure your credit card has no international fees to save more.

When we checked in, they asked for a credit card to hold $50 for incidentals.

They will seriously charge you for anything they can and they believe it is 150% YOUR responsibility to not incur charges, not theirs.

And upon check out I was hit with a $45 charge for “alimentos y bebidas” with no itemization whatsoever.

When she got to the hotel they tried to charge her an additional $600 saying her rate didn't include taxes and fees.

Tereso charged 50 USA dollars a day and  would not considered to provide a discount.

The only complaint is that we got charged for a small bottle of water and a soda in the mini fridge.

A 4 hour day pass is $35 if you charge in pesos.

Close to the Marina are the famous tourist attractions, Cabo Wabo, El Squid Row, The Giggling Marlin as well as the natural attractions like the ocean, the fishing, the natural rock formations, Lover's Beach, and Divorce Beach.

Water taxi will take you out to the Arch and pass by many rock formations aswell as Lovers Beach (Sea of Cortez side), and Divorce Beach (Pacific Ocean side).

The hotel is located by the marina, walks away from the actions of Cabo.

The location was amazing, we are in our mid 20’s and enjoyed being able to walk to the clubs and bars.

Loved being close to walk to downtown and restaurants on the marina, great location!

It’s unfortunate that stair use is only allowed for evacuation as our room was very far east end and quite a quick walk to/from elevator.
