If you want a nice quiet beach with calmer waves and no vendors go to Chileno beach which is maybe 10min down the road.

Chileno Beach and Santa Maria Beach are minutes away.

We went to Chileno Beach and enjoyed it greatly.

We did both and on different days went to Lover's Beach, San Jose, Chileno Beach (great snorkeling and the hotel will provide a snorkel mask,

Chileno Beach and Cabo Pulmo provided awesome beach experiences and we will definitely return to both locations.

The restaurant is overpriced and no even tasty.

Paid over 1,000.00 for mold in the shower, bathtub and kitchen sink.

although Cabo is getting mre expensive each year.

There is only one restaurant at the resort and 2 bars, quality of food and drinks below average and expensive for what you are getting.

There is one restaurant on the property…great food and amazing service (a little pricey).

Restaurants there are over the top pricey and the food does not justify this.

For groceries to avoid the restaurants, there is a La Comer close by (5 USD for Uber each way).

but we had cab fare for nine people to and from Marina that got expensive.

Ubers come straight to the hotel and cost anywhere form $6 - $15 to go to downtown Cabos San Lucas.

though that would have paid me $150 out of the resort fee).

My husband and I are PAID OFF Welk Owners.

The restaurant charged over $5.00 for diet coke.

Originally thought we’d have to pay $135 USD per massage for an hour and a half massage

I saw a negative review "Avoid at al costs!!!".

Room quality is poor old, outdated, and dirty.The restaurant (only one available) at the property is expensive and serves horrible bland food.

We love this place as it is ocean front and close to downtown Cabo by car or taxi.

Taxi's tend to run $20 each way making it easily more than double Uber rates.

It was a 3 mile walk up hill to catch a bus, $40 to catch a Taxi.

We used Uber to go to Cabo San Lucas as taxis we're much more expensive.

Be careful to go directly outside to the assembly point .There are many people at the airport who are selling time shares and they do NOT represent this resort .Bring lot of US ones,fives for tips  for taxi etc.

They were quick with our car or a taxi, always helped with groceries or anything else and more than anything were just genuinely friendly people that made our stay really nice.

Taxi ride from airport was approximately 35-40mins and taxi from resort to downtown was 10min.

but close enough to be a quick taxi ride in for dinner or an adventure, but they also have everything there that you would need you can use snorkeling equipment, boards, chairs and umbrellas on their Beach and they also have exercise classes and other activities.

Although there isn't a grocery store close, a taxi was always on call to take us to Costco and Wal-Mart or to downtown Cabo.

Other than when my husband and son took a taxi to Walmart for snacks and drinks, we never left the resort.

If you want to do any of the sites in Cabo, you must take a taxi.

Took taxi arranged by Gina and worked well.

Otherwise, you'll have to take a bus or taxi to Walmart or Costco for groceries.

Save a few bucks and take the bus into town - it is a US$1 trip each way per person, instead of a taxi at $20, plus you get to meet some locals and have a chat.

They even took care of us to make sure we weren't overcharged by taxi services!

It is best to get your own car since TAXI fares to and from the resort are already set and can add up pretty quick.

Grab a city bus to swim and snorkel at Santa Maria Beach, Chileno Beach and Pamilla Beach and don’t forget to water taxi across to El Arco.

but we didn’t have an issue with noise.

but it seems we were downgraded, as party rooms are smaller with no couch.The rooms have thin walls as we could hear everyone in the hall and at all times of the night.

they had nightly parties which is fine,but you can hear the music bumping throughout the night.

We were rudely awoken to this bizarre encounter.

One thing I didnt like was the obnoxious drunks who would make noises at all hours of the night and woke us up a few times throughout the week.

it is so loud - the rooms are not soundproof, constant door banking, people walking to/from the disco and/or parties shouting, constantly up every couple of hours.

Drilling started at 7am above our room and continued all day.

Tips:  electricity in the rooms turn on with a card - the towel cards work - you don’t need to use a door access card 
Overhead fan in room was cold with the A/C blowing - the switch to turn fan off was by one of the beds switches for lamps 
Room smell is mildewy iso be aware.

but so was sitting in the pool bar watching the water traffic and non-stop crashing surf.

Also EVERY night the room sirens go off in middle of night.

Which we are sure we were not we were following all traffic.

Incredibly noisy, thumping music morning,noon & night, no peace to be found anywhere.

We flew all the way from US to Mexico and hearing that from the hotel manager to go look for another hotel is absolutely ridiculous.

These parties don't go any later than 11:00 so the noise from there was a non issue and I am very noise sensitive.

A bunch of us shared what we were told while we were at the pool that day and it was easy to see that they weren’t prioritizing the air conditioning system to be fixed and we’re just kind of telling people what they wanted to hear.

I could care less about the noise and partying that’s what vacations are about.. so that type of Karen complaining should just stop.

And you can basically hear the bass/music from the party pool anywhere in the resort while the parties are going on.

Definitely not the cleanest inside the room and the rooms were always cold and damp when you slept.

I say this because OMG it was disgusting how many flies spread like crazy when opening a door to get hamburger toppings.

I agree, outside of a few restaurants the food was disgusting (even the burger spot was gross) and staff sit around and let flies all over the food.

I mainly stayed in the room the last two days to get some peace from the vendors and loud music and nasty food.

They demanded to enter the room to check for smoking.

At the end of our second day after eating in the Asian restaurant, half my family and I got laid up in bed with a bad case of Monetzuma's Revenge (vomit and diarreha).

My only complaint was the coffee at the breakfast buffet was absolutely disgusting - must have been made with tap water with swamp scum in it.

They do NOT offer any kind of room service 
And to make matters even worse, our room reeked of mold and mildew.

First night at disco smelt like puke.

The restaurant food was awful and disgusting.

Manager (Evan) is rude, all the front desk people are rude, roaches everywhere in the dining hall, dirty and filthy snack bars, I can keep on going.

Bugs and debris on the surface, bugs and debris on the bottom, and a literally sheen of nasty everywhere.

-The lines were disgusting, stained and dirty

-The dining area is swarming with bugs

-Little children grabbing food with their hands

-There is no business area so if you have to do work, you either do it in the room, the reception area which has no air conditioning or the sports bar, where children run wild

-It’s useless to have reservations at restaurants because they let anyone in 

-Oh yeah, you can show up to the restaurants in your swimwear.

The pools and pool parties were super fun until I started to get major skin irritations on my feet and below the waist… ya the family jewels are fluorescent red, peeling, and extremely painful.The doctor said it Looks like a very bad chemical burn.

The room was smelled like mould when we got in and the shower leaked water

The food why you could find something edible was a disappointment especially the Italian restaurant yuck!

Everything tasted horrible and disgusting!

Yes, shower works, with really stinky water.

The server went as far to turn OFF the machine in front of us so we couldn't use it ourselves for self-service, DISGUSTING!

Quick taxi or uber ride from town and the marina, or a good, long walk along the beach.

Taxis are great and will pick you up in front of hotel entrance

Not far from downtown, made it easy for a taxi van.

We took Uber 3 times and taxi once because  I didn't have cell service
We ate at Sanchos downtown, Cabo wabo, and a rodizio Brazilian steakhouse (highly recommend)

Overall we had a great time .

It was a 30 minute walk along the beach to the Marina, or a $3 per person taxi from the hotel lobby.

We ended up just paying $80USD to take a taxi back to the airport.

but the taxi driver really made sure he was getting paid by the hotel for the trip)

Tips/Suggestions:

Taxis from the resort into town were quoted at approx.

He was like a mafia controlling the taxi from the resort and the RIU staff was no help.

There was also signs for water taxi's that you could take to Lover's beach where you can swim in the ocean.

but it was the day I was doing check out so I ask at reception, if there was a possibility for me to stay 2 hours at the party while I wait for my taxi to go to the airport, also said if there was a fee I could pay it.

We took uber to Marina and took a water taxi to the arch and lovers beach which the kids loved.

We booked a water taxi through the stand in the resort and it was perfect.

Good location close to the town, we took a taxi up there it was $14 each way and they dropped us right at the marina.

Also, take a water taxi to Pelican Island.

- Get to Chileno Beach for the beats swimming.

We took a taxi to go to the Chileno Beach excellent clear waters to go to the beach.

If you like snorkelling, lovers beach, Chileno beach and Santa Maria beach are all worth a visit.

We spent a day at Chileno Beach which is a MUST DO!

Around the property, it seemed to be stronger and more consistent.That is a concern as we were stuck having to do zoom calls in public areas of the hotel for the WiFi and that was not as comfortable.

but you also don’t want to run up your mobile phone bill by using 3G/5G when WiFi ***should*** be PLENTIFUL.

However, my partner got their phone taken from one of the cubbies at the neon party and unfortunately it wasn’t recovered before we had to leave the following afternoon, so I’d suggest keeping anything valuable on you or locked in your room.

My son also stated that when he went to there called the security guy on his personal cellphone..not on the walkie-talkie not on the hotel phone.

She
told the person on the phone that we need both housekeeping AND maintenance.

My friends had to call a pharmacy themselves.

- Had to call and ask 3x for a rollaway bed

He calls the front and gets the room number.

We were not allowed out of room come Sat and that was all the food given until 2pm - after numerous calls.

After realizing this I wandered around and asked 3 different security people to let us in our room or at the very least call the front desk to have someone come let us in.

Could not even talk or hear music on the phone.

My only tip would be to upgrade the plugs etc to accomadate phones etc.

Had to call for maintenance to get it unlocked.

There was a sense of dissatisfaction if employees didn’t receive tips for the slightest of actions as calling a cab.

I figured no one was taking me seriously so I did not want to call and instead just went there.

I attempted to call the front desk 5x from the phone in our room without any success.

Before then my phone was turned off so I was not able to locate it.

- If you are less mobile, please note there are LOTS of stairs to get around here. I would like to note that Nicole tried to make amends for the many issues we had in our room upon checkin by making us a few "reservations" at the specialty restaurant (though getting a table at the restaurants was not hard)

we opened our doors, we were taken aback by a very strong overwhelming sewer stench in both our 
rooms.

- Moldy bathroom and dirty bedroom furniture.

Rooms showed signs of mold and smell of mildew.

The sheets feel wet and everything smells musty.

The windows, balcony, furniture were left FILTHY!

Just a disgusting experience especially the food.

Smells like sewer really bad and rooms have fallen apart. Beware.

but there are paint chips, chipped wood moldings,cracked tiles, chukcn out of concrete walls, bathroom fans that don't work, etc.

Even the Saxaphone was dripping in sweat which was also not appealing.

Smoking locations are not wheelchair accessible and too remote.

very stiff and questionable and the seafood smelled like it had been left out in the sun for days.

Very warm and smelly elevators, lacking any form of ventilation.

Food lacked flavor, floor in room got my feet dirty when walking barefoot on first day of stay, sometimes it smelled like sewer water in our room and on the atea by the pool, taxi service super high compared to local rates

but since there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, the room felt musty and a bid humid.

They shouldn't put the smoking station by the swim up rooms that people pay more money for!

but our neighbor smoked on his balcony, there was someone by beach washrooms smoking, guests on ground floor with pools attached smoked in their pools and a few poolside smokers trying to be sneaky.

We'll just open the balcony door and enjoy some fresh air since the room was musty smelling anyway.

The taxis are clearly marked once you know what to look for.

Go around we find Uber is cheaper than taxi.

Taxi rides to town were quick and easy and the people are so nice !

We caught a taxi to downtown Cabo San Lucas  which was easy to do .

Unequipped and non-swimmable beach - and no complimentary shuttle or water taxi to Medano or Lovers beaches (just 5 min away)

TO SUM UP: I would definitely come back if there was beach, or organized service to good beaches nearby.

-Location-We love that its an easy $12 taxi & 5-10 minute ride to downtown from the RIU resorts.

They call us call a taxi for 14 people in less than 2 minutes ($3 usd pp).

Walmart is a $10 US taxi ride (each way) and my advise is for you to bring your own sunscreen.

Make sure you book a water taxi (not just a boat tour) so you can spend time swimming at Lover's beach.

The property is gorgeous and in a great location, less than 10 mins to get to any major tourist destinations by taxi.

We went on a water taxi to El Arco which was amazing and we spent a day shopping and walking the marina and surrounding town.

You can see lovers beach and it's a short water taxi ride to get there.

Take the water taxi to lover's beach, take a sunset sailing excursion - you won't regret it!

Went downtown bar hopping 1 night for $8 a couple each way is a van taxi.

but Médano beach is a quick 7 minute taxi ride.

We travelled into Cabo and went to San Jose one night which was very easy to arrange through the gentleman at the front of the hotel who had a taxi for us within minutes.

Found taxis and transportation from the Riu very e pensive.

Taxi  (new Suburban or van) to Cabo was set at $14 US for a party of 1 - full vehicle.

We booked and excursion to Chileno beach through the concierge for reliable transport.

It was under construction and WINDY, both of which we didn't expect.

Only to arrive after a long day,  they book you in, then tell you that they are having maintenance issues and they will be sending you to their sister hotel, way out of town,

but were disappointed this year when we found out the construction of the Grand Solmar has taken away a pool from the Solmar.

Besides wasting the whole afternoon in their crazy shuttle, we wasted the evening trying to fix the air conditioner… (10) By the second day we were there they started construction in 2 rooms, one right by our right and one right by our left.

Yes, our first room was a bit outdated and unfortunately was right next to/over the construction happening on their new entryway,

Construction was still ongoing at the Solmar,

We moved into a room, that was away from construction noise and had sun.

Another issue was when ever we wanted to take a nap in the middle of the day they had construction going on continuously and the worst part was the Jack hammers.

Despite some negative reviews I read there was hardly any construction noise.

The resort again was inundated with construction noise from the additional lobby work.

Construction going on which was very loud at times.

But more than that, we were given a room (told it was a free upgrade to a special suite, "no extra charge"), only to find a major jack-hammering construction project was going on right outside of our balcony, 10 hours a day.

Because of construction, we were relocated to the Playa Grande from the Solmar Resort and Beach Club.

The beds were comfortable and I did not hear any of the construction noise others have mentioned.

The prices are bad to start with then they add IVA tax and a 10% resort service charge - which according to the manager is optional

We also played multiple cards games on the daily.

I would caution people that they do charge to the room even if you request to pay separately which caused disruption at checkout

The resort will shuttle guests to their other properties without charge.

The All-Inclusive option is a tremendous value and we love the food and drink options, we do wish the tip option was a little more transparent so we could ensure if we were tipping on the room charge that it would go to our server,

They wouldn't let uber past the gate because the hotel charges $100 for airport when it's $40 for uber.

I paid the balance a week before the trip.

Paid online and my card was processed on Mar 19, 2022.

One thing to be aware of is you cannot add a tip to your credit card.

Don't drink any of the bottled water provided in the room or you will be charged.

I lost $800, and no credit was offered either.

Not even a place to charge your phone by the bed.

Additionally we got home to find $$271.00 additional charges on our credit card.

I was charged 40.00 for 4 shots of Don Tequila when I have been sober for 30 years.

On top of that they triple charged our credit card charged us the day we checked out days after we left so now we have to call the bank and have that fixed.

but he could use my west jet credit card.

The rental agent agreed and it was only when I received my credit card statement when I returned to the US that I saw I had been charged the higher price.

Has overpriced restaurants charging $25 for a fettuccine Alfredo when their sister facilities sells full seafood dinner buffets for $37 for adults and half for kids.

My first impression, was ok.  even the taxi driver said uhhh it's ok.

We took an $8 taxi into town for a night out.

but it was a short water taxi ride to lots of great beaches.

Many swimmable beaches nearby via Uber or taxi.

but taking a 10 minute walk to the marina gives so many opportunities to get to a beach (walking or water taxi).

Getting a taxi to town is quick and easy.

Location was not too far from the marina area where you can walk without taking a taxi - marina area has lots

There is a 24 hour bellhop service which is great, they help order a taxi which is always really nice.
