Everyone was so friendly, kind and helpful.

The staff was incredible personable and friendly.

From arriving to the restaurant to the housekeeping turn down service, all the service was prompt, careful and friendly.

My 4 year old granddaughter had us at the pool and it was so relaxing the pool manager Erica was so helpful and friendly even brought my daughter a mock cocktail for her birthday after finding out she was pregnant this was a perfect touch.

The Inn is beautiful and the staff friendly.

They were kind, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, timely, and amazing.

Service was outstanding at all the restaurants and the shuttle drivers were so friendly.

The resort was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were all very friendly.

Canoe Club was our favorite food, also enjoyed Cole's, stayed in the Palmetto Suite if you are looking for a massive deck for the family, and all staff was extremely friendly.

It took 3 calls and a manger to finally get it corrected and taken off of the bill.

When you attempt to call the hotel, the phone is not answered promptly or sometimes at all.

Even calling shortly after concierge makes car ride to make minor time change in airport pickup (Montage doesn't encourage ubers in or out) results in an extra $50 fee.

but the woman was not open to calling the front desk to confirm our reservation.

The new GM has banned Ubers from coming down into the complex to pick people up so don't try to call one or schedule one for a return trip.

He hands me a list of 20 names, and I call each one-by-one.

A few things to call out:
-	Concierge: Laura and here team at the concierge were invaluable in making sure we had dinner reservations and never missed an opportunity to get a pin for our daughter’s lanyard.

I tried to get ahold of them via phone and email to book horseback riding prior to our stay and didn’t have success in a response until my travel advisor got involved.

So be ready to make a reservation when the concierge calls you  before your stay.

Only able to "leave and message" and someone would call me back.

Our refrigerator was broken for 3 days after calling about it 2X.

Throughout our 7 day stay, we repeatedly got a busy signal when calling the valet for our car.

At Palmetto Bluffs our room wasn’t ready, so they asked for a phone number to text us when it was ready.

There was ice in the room upon arrival and the bellman said it would be refilled every afternoon or we could call for more ice if needed.

When choosing a place for a vacation, nothing in Bluffton is calling my name.

And then we started calling to ask about them, and were met with haughty response of, "Do you not have reservations? That is booked up."

After my bad review I received a phone call from the then very new General Manager of the Montage, Will Jones.

Be careful booking the montage 20 rate- they will try hard not to honor it.

Only on second day, after asking, does one learn that housekeeping only comes to clean at cottage once a week (though you can pay more to have maid service more often).

Never in 4 years did we have to pay to get through the front gate.

Not sure that is even legal and seems like tax fraud in the state of SC.

You have to realize the Montage does not want people like you that pay $1200 a night for a cottage.

For the insanely high price, all in all not so good.

Yes, at $1,200 a night (for the least expensive room) you are going to expect a lot,

Let’s get it out of the way first - it is expensive and all the activities and food are expensive.

It was incredibly expensive, even the kids menu,

Wine list was also good, and surprisingly not too overpriced.

Its  one of these luxury resorts where everything is overly pricey.

Sea Island, Old Edwards, BlackBerry Farm and other resorts are 1/2 the price and offer far more.

But everything else from service, activities, amenities and most importantly value relative to price paid is severely lacking.

Due to the seclusion and high prices, we probably would not stay here again.

If someone is paying the high rates to stay here, how is that right that everything is booked so far in advance?

The restaurants are over priced, and underserved.

The golf was in my husbands opinion not worth that price

My only complaint - there are a crazy number of add-on taxes & hotel fees when you check-out so beware!

I was expecting more for the rates being charged.

Only redeeming quality was staff member Shayne .

We LOVED how quiet the property is and how nice most of the staff were.

And should anything come up on your trip, you can expect the whole staff to know how to handle it perfectly.

We even had the hotel arrange for us to tour the surrounding islands by boat and our captain was an ecologist and an expert of Palmetto Bluff, Port Royal Sound and Hilton Head Island - really fantastic!

Additionally, a good portion of the staff needed to be trained, retrained, and/or mentored.

Our first visit in 2021 was great- the staff was accommodating and hospitable.

And if you call for any assistance outside business hours, get a recording that front desk only open from 9-6pm (I bet Four Seasons and Rosewoods fully staffs their front desks).

The concierge staff is part time and  cannot manage bookings for large family group such as the 14 in our family.Beet to make all dining ,sports and spa reservations on your own.

But -  hats off to the S'mores and front desk staff - they were sweet!

The staff was incredible - shout out to Scott.

Some bright spots… The guys at the bike rental station were nice.

The service is consistent, with a staff that is attentive to our every need to ensure our satisfaction.

Our experience began with a very warm welcome from Dino who greeted us like family (maybe even better).

AC noise in suite sounded like a jet engine.

A/C system was difficult to maintain noise levels.

Our cooling system was awful, it was a super loud fan that came on and off all night long for like 5 minute spurts.

4) our room had a moldy smell - no exhaust fans in the bathrooms.

At night, the air conditioning would make a loud clank every time it would cycle on, keeping us awake most of the night.

A/C vent in ceiling did have water dripping from the vent.

There was also one room that had no AC the first night.

After returning from dinner in the replacement room we turned the AC on because it was a little warm and the mildew smell permeated through that room as well.

However, room a/c and shower water temperature left some to be desired.

No sleep because of the loud air conditioner, no working bathroom in my room so had to go to the hotel lobby for bathroom from 3rd floor.

The only issue I had with the bathroom was the lack of exhaust fan to prevent mirrors from steaming up.

but the only issue was there was no air extractor in the bathroom so if you take a shower it gets all foggy unless you leave the bathroom open.

The bedroom was quite, until the AC went into standby mode then it is very noisy, especially hearing the water leaking.

However, I am not a fan of the new heavy comforters currently used in many hotels, same case here.

Ventilation fans should be installed in all bathrooms.

The air conditioner was so loud it kept me up most of the night.

The AC did not seem to be working as well.

The night before arriving here we stayed at a sister Hilton property in Wrightsville Beach, NC, and were greeted by a friendly staff, up-to-date room, a free, unsolicited room upgrade and all amenities.

Valerie in the restaurant was so friendly and helpful.

I would give the hotel 4 stars; HOWEVER, the staff was AMAZING and super friendly!!!

The elevator from the parking lot smelled like something had died in it.

The first night the room smelled like old cigars, there were no towels and the tub had yellow water or pee in it, called front desk to be blown off and a couple if towels brought to my room.

The sides of the tub were over caulked and moldy.

Disgusting especially when you step into it every time you get out of the shower.

but even in the second room, they all seem to smell the same.

The iron had plastic residue and we could not use it on our clothes.

Elevator was nasty and had not been cleaned recently.

I should also point out that the room was smelly and not “deep cleaned,” as they claim.

I had to switch rooms because the first one had a mildew smell.

The hotel sprayed some type of air freshener in the room and the smell was so intense we could not actually stay the night there.

Also we noticed when we first got there that the room smelled a little funny and with like a humidity and moldy smell.

I told them we were leaving because of the smell and that I would take the matter up with Hilton.

but our room smelled of smoke or some other lingering odor.

The carpet was covered in stains, the bed wasn't particularly comfortable and the comforter was disgusting.

From there on
Including creaky old elevator ,broken pool gate and cigarettes all around pool area.

The manager at the front desk, DARION, was very helpful.

Great staff and incredibly close location relative to the South Carolina Yacht Club on Hilton Head, so great for regatta crews.

The desk people weren’t happy to have customers.

The wait staff and the chef who served us both days on the 6/24 and 6/25 were outstanding .

In Hilton Head we were met with staff that at best can be described as indifferent; no name tags, slovenly dress and unprofessional conduct (eating on duty behind the desk, for example).

A well kept and clean property with an exceptional staff!

When the Wedding Block price was set up, the understanding that was given to the parent in charge of setting up the wedding block, a price was set per night.

OVERCHARGE for room that is small and uncomfortable.

Only problem I had was that most of the Hampton Inns now have places to plug in your phones for charging.

To my husband and I, We think the owners have the wrong people in charge of running their property.

The outlet malls are just a few miles towards Hilton Head, bring your credit cards and spend the day.

The only problem was that our credit card was charged above the room rate and taxes upon leaving.

We had been charged for our one night stay,

When we checked in the employee at the  front desk swiped my card and it didn't take, he swiped it three more times and it finally went through, when I got to my room I went on line and checked my card and there were 4 holds on my card for $275 each.

but add this hotel to those facilities who now not only have instituted a 24 hour cancellation policy - but are pre- charging your room to your credit card before arrival.

Marvin was a credit to the hotel -- he fixed a broken TV and fixed a leak in the hallway.

At check out, the desk clerk added the room charges three times to our credit card.

We did have one issue where our room cards stopped working

Due to what happened, the GM did not charge us for that evening.

Don't make your customers walk over to the other hotel to see if a room is available, walk back to your desk, and tell them we are checking out and I want full credit back.

One of the workers who had been on the elevator casually leaned over looking at my room number on the key card and said yea you are on the right floor, we are working right outside your room.

Shower caulk is nasty looking, big chip in tub.

We had to put up with a lawn crew who mowed and blew debris.

When asking for the manager Rita Pamler, she was always busy with a meeting only to see her outside talking to someone and smoking.

Our bathroom had an odor to it that wasn't exactly clean

but wasnt nasty, guess she had things on her mind.

The previous reviewer said that the hallways smelled like smoke.

Our bathroom actually smelled and perhaps new cleaning supplies should be tried.

however this time we checked in and was given a room that smelled very badly, a bleach type odor.

Different from previous occasions this time we experienced smelly bath tub; no telephone signal; intermittent cable signal; dirty furniture; sticky carpet; broken bed sheets; clothing left behind from previous guest; dirty elevator floor.

I did not feel overly confident that the drain was a priority.

Room smelled too musty and Housekeeping needs to vacuum more thouroughly and clean surfaces better.

The pastries were stale, the orange juice really watered down.

twice we had small problems the first time the TV kept shutting off by itself and the bathroom light in the shower was burned out.

We were greeted by Maya who is a delightful person.

Our room was clean (and I am quite discerning) and the staff were gracious (we checked in late and it was the last of 2 rooms).

Oakatie Ale House had a nice outdoor bar and a competent menu.

Upon checking out, the GM did modify our bill, giving us one night free ($205).

checked out early and realized very quickly (within one  hour of departing) I left my very expensive Bose wireless headphones and charging block in bathroom outlet.

- Plenty of amenities in the room
- Location is fantastic, depending on what you're on HHI for
- The price was 1/2 or more of pretty much any other option on the island when we traveled
- Water was hot and pressure was good

THE MEH:
- The furniture is dated and a bit tired.

They also had Clorox wipes, custom hand soap, paper towels, trash bags, laundry basket, ironing board, step stool if need help getting in/out of the shower.

though the shampoo and soaps were more low-end and typical.

We appreciate the paper towels in the sink area!

Plus the room was filthy with pubic hair all over the bathroom.

The tub's water would not fully shut off and was constantly leaking.

not place the towel holders over the toilets.

The curb appeal is disasterous (pressure wash, litter pick, and paint your property).

The toiletries provided by the hotel had been previously opened which is gross.

It took the hot water for the shower about 3 minutes to heat up.

but the reason for this was that there was no stopper in the sink.

The 3rd day she came to the door and yelled to get out of the hotel.

After my wife got back to the room, within minutes the woman who claimed to be the manager/ owner knocked on our door and told us to leave the hotel.

Has double rooms with french door , if want privacy.

But once inside the rooms it was extremely outdated, the door jams are rusted , not very clean, there was a very loud dehumidifier in the room which went off about 4 AM and made a loud beeping noise.
