From making the reservation to our last delicious breakfast our visit was perfect.

We had hummingbirds all around us getting their breakfast at the hummingbird feeders within touching distance.

We missed the breakfast because we needed to leave before that time.

The next morning Jule fixed us a lovely and delicious breakfast, with eggs fixed in a way we'd never seen before!

When we pulled into the parking lot, we were a bit skeptical.

I agree with a previous reviewer on the gravel parking - a bit tough for a motorcycle

I am not saying you can not park a motorcycle

And only about 10 rooms, so parking is just outside your doors.

Besides getting a top floor (reminder: no elevator) try to get a room on the left side (as you face you inn from the parking lot).

but if I must: the parking area does not reflect the standards of the place.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the very nice breakfast.

Free Breakfast had several choices -- juices, yogurt, eggs and cereals.

We had a nice complimentary breakfast the next morning too!

Beautiful place, nice room, NICE breakfast, the only motel I actually remember (except for the bad one in Las Vegas) from that 2-week trip.

We loved how cozy and clean Recapture Lodge is, a real gem in Bluff, and an added bonus of super friendly staff and a comfortable setting for breakfast (included in the rate.)

The building has a rustic look (lots of wood), and clearly caters to customers who enjoy outdoor activities--the main office has a well-stocked selection of maps and guide books for use by guests. A modest buffet breakfast (breads, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, orange juice,.  )

the pool was delightful after a day of hiking!the breakfast kept us going-altho not a hot breakfast, they have hardboiled eggs, cereal, breads, spreads.

Call for a reservation there were no vacancy signs everywhere.

There are no in-room phones (my wife called to tell me something; the person on duty had to come to my room and offered to let me us the office phone) and there is no closet to hang clothing (there is a short bar in a corner that had 3 hangers).

but a little sparse (especially for those of us who think an egg or some meat is fairly important to calling it a breakfast!)

No amenities like telephone or wi-fi --  which is perhaps a good thing when getting ready for camping.

Not great no air conditioning small shower no bathtub stay only if you have no choice will definitely make reservations ahead of time to stay somewhere else  no phone or clocks in the room sleeping in the car would have been better

The process from calling and having our wish fulfilled: a kitchen in the room went fine and it was obvious that the manager had gone through some recalculating in order to please us.

If you want coffee makers, phone or in room hairdryer plus top of the range A/C - look elsewhere.

Perhaps more importantly (for us), the Hooks seem to be connected to everyone in town and know whom to call for every kind of need: supplies, shuttle drivers, car repairs, etc.

Here's what they don't have: no phone, no clock radio, no a/c, no shampoo or blow dryers.

The staff was more than helpful, and allowed me to call my husband from their phone when my cell phone provider did not work in this area.

To make a phone call, borrow the phone in the office.

There is no phone in the room, and two out of four lamps in the room did not work.

The bath towels were thin, and one of them we were given was stained (simple fix=buy new bath towels) 
I am sure it is expensive to renovate a room,

I can't believe someone complained about the towels!

Vintage motel in that the linoleum floor creaks, carpet is plush the light fixtures are original and the towels are thin.

Really though, do something about the towels.

but I would suggest the lodge invest in some new towels.

I note that recent changes to towels and breakfast charges have been implemented so please, please Mr and Mrs Hooke, show some respect for your guests and spend some money (you must have plenty judging by how full you are) on replacing essential items

My only criticism (as a previous reviewer's) would be regarding the towels - too small and thin.

The towels were also hard and very scratchy.

The only negative was the towels which were somewhat small and threadbare.

The towels in the bathroom were worn and thin.

If you like thick towels, bring your own.

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was even friendlier than the front desk staff!

our cabin was great, only shortciming was the amount of tv channels offered, and the fact that the resturant did not serve breakfast.

I was there with an adventure group from Santa Fe, NM, to visit, hike and scramble to prehistoric cliff dwellings and rock art panels.

Room was lovely, pool felt good on a hot afternoon(indoors) and dinner at Duke's was very pleasant.They no longer serve breakfast

Also, if you are looking for a great breakfast, the Twin Rocks cafe had the best breakfast on our trip, and it's just down the street.

Breakfast and Dinners x 2 were nicely served and the food was delicious!

Dukes is only open for breakfast and dinner.The rooms are nice and you can sit out on the porch and enjoy the bluffs.

We ate at Dukes for both dinner and breakfast.

The onsite restaurant was delicious as well as the place right across the street.

The food in the restaurant is scrumptious.

But we had an incredible breakfast in the hotel- wonderful local servers; happy and helpful.

An adjoining restaurant serves breakfast with a discount for residents.

Breakfast at the restaurant was nice, as was dinner.

We were on a tour so they brought a group breakfast in for us.

The food at the cafe was quite good and reasonably priced and we had two breakfasts and dinners there.

Balconies are great for sitting and enjoying breakfast looking up at the canyon walls.

The little cafe has freshly baked breakfasts and light dinners.

The food was made to order and was delicious.

but went for breakfast at the Cedars Café.

A truly gorgeous spot, nice balcony, comfortable bed, friendly hotel folks and delicious breakfast.

The pizza (including gluten free options) and breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced.

If we didn’t feel like cooking we could eat at the Cedar Shack which had a simple menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner all cooked fresh on site.

Onsite food options are delicious and affordable.

Wonderful place to stay amongst the land of few and far between option….Rooms were clean, shower was good,  little cafe on site great for coffee and breakfast.

The restaurant was also lacking, Just a shack that served pizzas, wraps, and breakfast burritos.

The Anasazi pizza was delicious as we sat on the balcony enjoying the rock formations!!

We were able to take care of our breakfast and lunch-

We had breakfast and dinner at the Cafe and the food was delicious.

Cedar Shack for snacks or breakfast was very convenient.

I don't think there was an elevator in the building we were in, and since there is no carpet in the room, we could hear the people walking around in the room above us quite loudly.

We would have hoped to be on the ground floor, as requested due to age and physical issues since they do not have elevators.

They do not have elevators so you must request a ground floor room if that is an issue.

Be aware that there are no elevators so you will have to hump your bags up the stairs or pay for concierge service.

The lack of an elevator was not an issue.

but there were no escalators in the facility, so remember to ask for rooms on the ground floor, should you have mobility issues.

However, at check in, we found that we had a second-floor room and were shocked to find that there was no elevator.

My only suggestion would be to get a second floor room (no elevators) if you can.

We were given the option of a ground floor room with a patio and no stairs (there is no elevator).

There are no elevators, so keep that in mind if you have a 2nd or 3 rd floor room.

If you are carrying heavy bags, ask for a room on the ground floor: There are no elevators.

It would be nice to have a small table and chairs in the room , and a longe chiar .

but there were so many baby spiders we were unable to use the kitchen table during our stay.

A few times we ate outside at the Cedar Shack, other times we walked our food back to our room and ate at the table and chairs on our balcony.

He told me they specifically designed it so you can pull the table into the room or eat on your patio.

Also, the outside table is situated right next to the A/C that was giving off even hotter air so we had to move it to eat.

We had to carry in the balcony table and chairs to do this.

Breakfast is amazing and an opportunity for great conversation with the owner and other guests.

Looking for a place to overnight in Bluff, I was delighted to find this bed and breakfast.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and healthy, with fruit, toast, eggs (cooked to your liking) and sausage.

but she packed us a little brown bag with yogurt parfait and bannana bread, both of which were awesome for the road.

The breakfast was amazing it was so lovely to have fresh fruit and home made biscuits.

In the morning, Charlie (a gourmet French trained chef, who served the most perfect Eggs Benedict EVER) and Susan joined us for wonderful conversation and lots of laughter.

The house and rooms are lovely,cosy and charmingly decorated, and the breakfast delicious!!

Had a delicious breakfast, while chatting with Susan at the table - she then packed me on my journey with some cookies, water and other goodies for the trip.

We stayed one night on our way home to Santa Fe after a week exploring the region.

Also Bluff itself was very charming laying against the rocks and with the Old Fort where volunteers show visitors how the pioneers struggled to survive.

I strongly suggest incorporating their expertise into your sightseeing plans.

In the morning we had breakfast at Twin Rocks cafe and had delicious Navajo fry bread with our meal.

While no breakfast is provided, there is a free snack basket with flavored seltzer drinks and an assortment of sweet and savory snacks.

Down to every detail she is very thoughtful including a signed welcome letter, a gift basket including snacks and breakfast items, recommendations on places to visit, the handmade soaps made by a local family owned small business, and the overall love you feel when you enter the cabin is unlike any other place you'll stay.

The rooms are spacious and simply decorated with fantastic local art, the bathroom with the double shower and beautiful stonework felt truly luxurious, and the kitchenette had everything we needed to make a simple breakfast before hitting the road again.

The few eating establishments in Bluff seem to be going through some reorganizing and some close for winter season- so plan ahead and bring some groceries.

We called and talked to Melanie before we came, so we had all the groceries we needed to feed ourselves for four days as there is no grocery store in Bluff.

Also if a stove was added, you could easily stay at the cabins for a week (though you'd need to get groceries in Blanding or another town as there is no grocery store in Bluff).

One small suggestion: include a stool for children to be able to access the sinks and faucets.

My only suggestion to the owners would be to have a little personal contact with guests (the cabins are entirely self-service unless you have a problem).

The walls are decorated with artwork from local artists.
