We ended up having lukewarm to cold showers!!!

My bathroom was with shower, not much hot water, toiletries provided.

The shower doesn't have a luke warm water.

Your breakfast ladies have nasty attitude.. as for cleaning services,why isn't there cleaning utensils for toilets in your rooms, I stayed here for a week and my toilet was dirty for 4 days ,when I asked the lady who was cleaning on the day she said it is not stinky.. are your toilets only cleaned when there's a smell?

My 10 year old daughter was looking for her shoes and she noticed the dust under the beds.

Broken remote control, shower head old (from the 50s or something) with little water coming out.

the door of the bathroom would do with some minimal maintenance.

The taps in the bathrooms were not working properly, we could not control the hot/cold water.

The bathroom need some repair as the shower partisan was falling loose.

No carpet in halls so you can hear every footstep , you get what you pay for and I’m surprised some people give it 5 stars !

1stly the showers were horrible hardly had any water coming out and if there was it was either ice cold or fiery hot (no in between).

When it was time for evening ablutions, we discovered that both the washbasin and shower drain pipes were completely blocked.

The room overall need a renovation specially the tiles on the bathrooms,
If possible a big signage board around the area will make the identification much easier.

Two towels in the bathroom had brown stains and I had to request clean towels.

The toilet was very noisy when it was flushed.

The Mamagement and staffare very friendly and helpfull.

however after years of political upheaval, global economic strife and pandemic lockdowns I am glad to see they have prioritised services because it is clean, friendly and functional which is far more important to many of us than have a fancy place that is not 😉

The receptionists were very helpful and friendly .The room was clean and bright, and room service was always on time.

It’s been a long time since I have experienced such a friendly, helpful and professional team.

The lift bell rang the entire night and I was in room 509 all the way down the hall very far from the lift.

As corridors are wide and uncarpeted, people can be rather noisy when shouting in the corridors and slamming doors.

When you are in your rooms and other guest are talking in the corridors you will hear those noises.

I should have stayed at a guest house rather, This place was very dodgy, looks terrible, noise levels unacceptable from guest and loud staff members shouting in corridors, I have seen better backpackers

Guests who arrived late made noise in the corridors and we heard in the room as if they were in the room.

though asked the night before), noisy rooms (could hear everything from the corridor and rooms next door) and just old dilapidated building.

Lawrence the food and bev manager iconic in style and manerism making everyone feel welcome.

Pieter the manager always makes me feel more than just welcome.

however call back and offered to send her manager an email with my complaint.

After a long drive we were made to feel so welcome by Front office staff as well as the Rooms Division Manager, Anja.

Sunday lunch, service, food and hospitality of the manager, Pieter van Rooyen, and staff was outstanding.

All thanks to the staff and management of the hotel.

I was impressed with the General Manager's hands-on management.

The welcome card from Piet the manager was special touch as well as the surprise to see your name before you enter the elevator.

They have become really good friends with the General Manager (Pieter).

Please do yourself a favor and visit this gem, staff very friendly, management always available to meet and greet the guest, best food in Bloemfontein, this reminds me the good time I have had in Braamfontein - my only plea to management will be to erect a roof top bar.

General Manager directly involved and always willing to engage in a discussion.

Clearly there was no soundproofing and I could not sleep the whole night as the kids would knock on my door by mistake.

The Thursday entertainmet is just right, not to loud not to soft.

On the downside dinner was not good and guests were noisy with banging doors and loud voices until early hours of the morning.

It was very noisy due to other guests who were talking very loud in the hallways.

I was disturbed in my sleep during the day by construction taking place in next door room and that was not appropriate.

Particularly pleasing was the constant availability and visibility of hotel managememnt

The rooms are not soundproof as the other guests were noisy in the passage and it felt like they were in your room.

At 10pm the noise levels on the top floor from a party of guests was very loud.

Besides hearing from a close family member that I made a mistake by choosing Protea Hotel Bloemfontein Central instead of the Protea Hotel Bloemfontein because of its location and the fact that there is no security to monitor the parking at night, I remained optimistic because of the name Protea Hotel.

Absolutely dated décor, poor aesthetics, lif needs an overhaul; shoddy bathroom, fittings needs refurbishment; aircon is noisy and inefficient.

The room was clean, warm and comfortable.

The impressive old furniture well maintained to the clean room and great amenities.

I have been using this hotel for at least 7 years on my travels, the staff are welcoming, the rooms are clean, To sum it up, it really is a home from home.

I didn't really think that a clean room like that would have a cricket.

Very comfortable, clean room with everything you would need.

The room was very neat, the food was mouth watering and it was convinient for me to attend meeting as the place was very close to my meeting venue..

The food was very delicious and my room was clean and up to standard.

Other tenants smoke in their  rooms and one can smell the cigarettes from other rooms.

When I booked there, there was a terrible smell of paint and the ironing room was a disaster, it was very untidy, not well kept and needed some renovations.

but that too is an inconvenience for the smokers in our community.

The only complaint would be the smell in the basement where you park.

Then I am told that they booked my room on the smoking floor and that they now do not have another similar room available.

We were served dinner in the bar area, as the restaurant does not have a smoking area, and my wife being a smoker.

some how the cigarette smoke enters the rooms.

Breakfast was ordinary and some food tasted as if it was stale.

I had to beg, several times, for a bucket to catch my shower water in.

Looking at your bathrooms thats where you must improve especially the toilet there is some rusty which must be inspected.

Only after suggesting that I would be glad to have a bath in the pool, was a vacant room found where I could shower without standing in dirty water.

The water from the bath/shower was terrible, My face is even reacting from it.

But come bath time brown dirty water coming out.. breakfast menus for two days not changed.

The shower gel and bath foam is so refreshing, and the breakfast was on point, the only low was that I'm a non smoker and I checked into a smoking room, the fact that the room has the view and access to the pool it's a cheery on top of the cake

Rooms not cleaned properly, i stayed for a week and my carpet and bathroom basin were dirty even after they supposedly cleaned.

Was a bit disappointed after 7hr drive hoping to soak myself in the bath instead I got shower only.

No hot water when booked in at 14.30, had to get up at 05.00 for a hot shower etc.etc.

The bath mat in the tub gave me a foot infection, the bath tub was not cleaned properly, i had no facial tissues in the bathroom.

We were a bit disappointed that the bathroom door could not lock & close properly & toilet did not flush properly and felt this should have been identified & resolved prior to guest check in.

The rooms and bathroom need a bit of a face-lift.

but the hotels is showing its age in a number of ways such as carpets that are dirty and threadbare in places, the bath was stained and the bathrooms are dated and showing signs of too many years of use and water damage to the woodwork beneath the marble tops.

Bathroom with shower has dirty water standing in both shower and sink for prolonged time - even after a shower.

The room was not nice bathroom looked very old time for some renovations and the wifi is not easy to use and the speed is very poor and when i got to to the hotel no one told me about the wifi i had to figure that out myself

As we arrived tired trying to check in the receptionist told us about the new rules so therefore our booking had to be changed because my mother in law has booked for us with her membership card

The general condition of the rooms and hotel is quite poor and if you guys want to charge what you do, then it's probably best that something be done about this.

She was so helpful and we actually laughed about it because I had been to the front desk a number of times during this stay including after I had left my key card in the room.

Also the bikes were both faulty or not charged so one couldn't see any data if using.

when I  arrived at the hotel my room card was pre-printed and ready

Include a gym for customers to train in the morning and evening for  fitness ,supply towels in the gym and maybe if possible you can add beauty spa .I` m also suggesting day care for kids if possible and a fee must be charged per day or hour

Only one small 300 Ml water bottle was provided, if you are charging 110 USD per night enough water should be provided to the guest.5.

I was not having my reward card and the receptionist had patience to look for me and she even advise me to store the number in my phone.

I raised a query on being charged exyra for dinner served in room service as payment had been inclusive of dinner and breakfast.

Please the gym have their room where guest if wants to training must use his/her access room card.

I had a lot of sun rands expiring before I could use them because I thought it was a lengthy process to use them and I never thought you can just use them to pay at the hotel as if you were swiping your card.

However, there was only one electricity plug beside the TV and nothing beside the bed so charging phone was challenging.

not that bad, checked in very late, maybe that's the reason there was not much of joy at reception, also the machine for issuing cards stopped working and I had to go back to reception to swap the wrong card that was not working tha they ave me, very tedious and tiring.

The after 1hour's wait the manager came to tell us that they made some changes to our booking and bumped us to the Presidential Suite with no charge to our account.

The Hotel has a floor rug which is not properly cleaned whilst other hotels have moved to wooden flooring which is healthy and suitable for most people.

Very user friendly facilities, central location, easy to find and availability of most needful amenities.The vicinity of the shopping mall and other critical surroundings, like doctors, churches and entertainment.

The hygienic environment of the facilities was impressive and inviting for a come again for either business or family visit.

I have visited the Bloemfontein Tsogo sun hotel the receptionist was very welcoming and Lovely the hotel is very clean and their food was wonderful with a great taste I would to congratulate them for their clean environment

Old world charm with a nice large room, very clean and comfortable, opening out onto a terrace and the swimming pool.

Generally, the hotel has a welcoming environment and the staff know what is expected of them.

Due to the hotel layout - around a large landscaped courtyard - some rooms on the upper level requires a lot of walking to get to reception and the pool.Although the hotel has basic and dated finishes, the rooms are well laid out and comfortable.

We will blame the festive season just to console ourselves.

It is pleasing when you are greeted with a smile whenever and wherever you approach any reception desk.

The pool and gardens are very well kept, creating a peaceful environment.

The wi-fi is very reliable, the rooms neat, the staff passionate and the environment very conducive to business

but you are surprised by the large garden and pool at the centre which all rooms overlook, which is very nice.

Otherwise convenient central location in town and the pool and gardens are very nice.

The breakfast is above expectations, the pool is amazing and the garden made that place look like international places.

Great breakfast - we sat by the sun-filled windows enjoying the view of the lovely courtyard garden.

The gardens are well kept and maintained (and so is everything else).

Loved the ground floor room, opening onto the garden in front of the swimming pool.

bathrooms were substandard ..the standard at the garden courts I visited surpassed this hotel by far.

Great ground floor room opened on to beautiful garden setting with pool-a real oasis in the city centre.

Comfortable family room and fair breakfast (other Tsogo Holiday Inn Garden Courts have provided a bigger variety eg Marine Parade Dbn & Sandton Garden Court).

The garden and pool area is perfect and the kids had the best time!Breakfast was lovely with a variety of offerings suited to every palate.

Limited water cups, everyone is sharing one cup including staff.

Bigger TV and small Fridge needs to be added to the rooms

No fridge in the room to store medication was a bit problematic,

everything was ok except the issue of bar fridge ,i also suggest the hotel considers replacement of TV, ti think it will be better if the hotel gets at least 39 cm flat tv other than 32 cm that is in use

people who stay long should be priorities with fridges, because people were given fridges staying one day.

I got so upset in the dinning room where i asked to take the food  to my room, and the supervisor in the kitchen told me that is not allowed which i understood,

The hotel need to improve on the time to arrange breakfast pack, the time should at least be 24 hoursThe need to be small fridge in the rooms in order for clients to store things that need to be chilled

There was no bar fridge in the room which is a significant challenge for travellers passing through.

A few issues, the room we were in did not have a fridge, which was disappointing.

The Hotel needs to put fridges in all the rooms since its summer people need to utilize those facilities.

Was disappointed with the Internet facilities they were very poor indeed every time I had to re-log in and this process is not user friendly at all.

Food quality of poor standard no value for money

Guests pay allot to stay at your hotel and just to get poor service and bad food and dirty bathrooms is unacceptable.

Bad service from dining staff and poor food.Hate when chef has attitude when you request something and turns his back to you.Hotel need to employ Muslim staff as well.Need to cater for all religions not just management and managers only.

the pool area is perfect, rooms are not userfriendly (limited power plugs), housekeeping services very poor (for 3 days I couldn't get the iron delivered to my room).

WiFi was poor, and the data allowance insufficient for business Travellers.

At this point I was about skeptical cause I thought the service would be poor.

Considering the price being levied the aircon in my room was antiquated and of poor operational ability so I had a very restless night.

but little things let the hotel down such as

A) room service poor;
B) restaurant menu limited and the food not up to scratch; and
C) had to wait to be served at the bar or pool a long time.

Also the front desk couldn’t find record of a fully paid booking and insisted on putting a cc hold on my account, ridiculous.Will not stay there again, poor value for money.

Customer Service is poor and staff is not very courteous.

Why should I have to pay for an additional poor non functional service.

Location and reports gave us an option over citi lodge, which sometimes has a poor crowd of passers by.

Although we were many, the client service experienced remained top and excellent treatment from staff and the cleanliness of the rooms were so 100%.

Wifi speed and connectivity was tops.The room was neat and clean.

Typical 80s type hotel and rooms can be a longish walk.

Rooms are very clean with aircon, big swimming pool to cool off in the heat.

We were able to watch a late night movie and then walk back to our room.

I would recommended requesting a room that has direct access to the pool and garden via patio doors.

My room  was very clean and had everything that I needed to survive

Could give more coffee and tea to drink in room by default without having to ask for more and wait more than an hour.On bussinees trips we udually work in room and drink more coffee and tea.

Lots of things in the room did not function, quality is dropping fast.

Had a fantastic time at Southern sun always prefer sleep at the hotel it is convenient and easily accessible, friendly staff that are willing to assist and give you attention, their rooms are open and bed comfort. Regards

but the Reception Team quickly made sure a clean room was found and allocated.

The room was clean and everything was perfect.
