He was very friendly and polite - unfortunately our visit coincided with a holiday in France so many local restaurants were closed and the hotel does not have a restaurant.

although we visited during summer holidays when many of the shops closed for a week or two and just left a sign in the window.

but no: their restaurant was closed for decorating; they didn’t provide room service & their list of local restaurants were all closed.

However on arrival we found that the restaurant was closed indefinitely.

but my sleep quality was bad, I was awakened several time a night due to noise.

but beware of the town: it was a Monday in mid August & there was a distinct lack of open restaurants due to what was nearly a blanket vacance.

Due to one night stay and late arrival just visited a bar around 200 yards away

Surprisingly straightforward coming off the motorway, 3 roundabouts and a few roads later we pull up in the hotel’s small private parking area, the gates were locked after we arrived so it was nice and secure.

The basics: fantastic air conditioning, good (free) wifi, and we got a secure (garage) parking space on request (plenty of free on-street parking and also in the hotel's own open air car park).

Parking was easy to come by, and there is no cost if spots are available in the courtyard.

but there was plenty of on street parking across the road (usually pay to park but was free on Bastille day).

Good parking, and if you driving a special bike or car, they have a private garage for 7 euros extra a night,

For the rest it's a pretty standard BW offering with an adequate buffet breakfast (poor coffee though) and good parking alongside (locked in the wee hours).

I drove a large van and found parking with out blocking entrances impossible.

This is well situated a few minutes from the motorway and yet in the town centre for bars and restaurants.

Although there are several restaurants and bars in the town central area we enjoyed an evening at an Irish Themed Pub a few steps from the hotel which has a nice buzzy atmosphere, a good music system and good food and 17 beers on draft !!

We are from Canada my husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel back in early October, we enjoyed it very much it is a great place overall, rooms,breakfast,extremely great staff!

The reception area was really nice, looking like something from a class above.

Our first praise must go to the fantastic staff member who checked us in.

I arrived by train and it is an easy few minutes, flat walk to the hotel from the wonderful station (where the staff are very helpful).

Conveniently situated a short walk from the town centre, this is a modern hotel with quality furnishings.

Our room featured a balcony that looked out onto beautiful vineyard hills and parts of the town.

We had a comfortable night's sleep and enjoyed good views over the tree lined town square from our top floor balcony.

Villefranche is like a main town for Beaujolais, like Beaune is for Burgundy.

The location is located at a charming typical French town square.

Added to that the town is nice to walk around to find somewhere to eat and just a short detour off the motorway.

Villefrance sur Saone is a vibrant little town at the edge of the Beaujolais great for visiting the local wine growing area.

About five minutes from the A6 Villefranche peage / exit and located in the town centre with plenty of good restaurants within a few minutes walk - we usually go to L'Epicierie which has traditional French cuisine at its very best in a lovely bistro atmosphere. .

It is close to the town centre and it's easy to get to the motorway.

but they also blocked a significant amount on my credit card (250 EUR) and didn't release the amount at the moment of writing this review, 4 days later.

The only negative I have to say, is that til today 8 april, on my creditcard still is the amount of € 150,00 (date 22 march) reserved and I will ask them to correct this, because we have al ready payed the amount for the room before and diner has been payed by creditcard date 24 march!

The only down side was the 30 euro overnight parking charge which I felt was a bit excessive.

but remember to insert your room key card into the slot in the lift before you press your floor button.

Our first greeting from 2 of the rudest receptionists I have ever experienced, were, " Where were you yesterday - You have been Charged" - so it appears there was a mix up in the booking,

The staff were lovely and friendly, the room we had was stunning and quiet (view was a typical city hotel).

Fast forward things changed dramatically and I was welcomed in a modern reception, friendly staff and a beautiful functional room.

Good, clean, neat & tidy hotel in central location for walking to restaurants and getting taxi's as needed.

The restaurant offers very good food and the breakfast buffet is convenient.

We were very surprised by Michelin awarded cuisine at Ici et La restaurant on site.

But the restaurant on teh evening and the quality of the food was excellent and appreciated by the whole family!

Lastly, the small bar/lounge area, where I worked several hours in a row, really deserves a more comfortable couch or two.

Nice inside/outside pool area with sun-loungers and gardens with seating and sun-loungers.

Lovely grounds, great area, friendly and helpful staff.

Very close to Fleurie wonderful wine area.

A lovely area, particularly for someone in my business (wine).

The public areas were also attractive especially the pool heated to 25 degrees and gardens with spring flowers and established trees looking onto a vineyard and outside tables and chairs.

This hotel is well placed for touring the area ( a very nice wine region) 
It is fairly small and very well presented with all the usual facilities you would expect.

It is also perfectly situated for touring the vineyards in the Beaujolais and Burgundy areas.

The Maritonnes restaurant is very friendly and professional with a lovely atmosphere thanks to Jennifer and her great Team.She is also a qualified wine Sommelier.

The decor is very pleasing to the eye and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

The real negative is that it's a dark room with just one window to the front which is under a covered walkway and looks out onto the main entrance/front gardens of the Hotel and Restaurant so if you have the curtains open and lights on (which are needed) you're in a goldfish bowl!

with no stand-up, dimmer lamps for night reading.

It was our third time and the restaurant was good as expected, good quality for a reasonable price.

but some things could be easily fixed (Note: I stayed in one of the cheaper rooms and visited a Premium one, which looked stunning .

Restaurant serves some tasty local dishes at reasonable pricing.

but over priced and there was an interesting wine list.

Choose your room carefully and if it is a higher cost for the pool facing rooms, it is worth it.

We paid around 220 euro for Room Dinner and Breakfast for 2 people which I think was excellent value as the meal was rather sumptuous.

The following night we had an excellent dinner in the main restaurant with a high quality bottle of Moulin-a-Vent for a very reasonable price, from the extensive wine list.

although excellent with home made cakes to die for was a expensive at 19 euros each.

Should be included within the overall rate.

The reason for choosing the hotel was originally because the restaurant was open on Sunday evening.

The food and cooking were not of a standard you expect from a Georges Blanc establishment.

Comfortable room, good meal, pleasant staff and attractive grounds make a very good stop-off point to relax in between long drives.

We had the feeling that the food was industrial.

We only had one night as a quick get away and our focus was the restaurant so all in all it worked!

Let's get the tops out of the way at once, ie superb restaurant (with a delicious, affordable daily dinner special, plus a very nice breakfast offering), and a beautiful, brand new spa which I unfortunately had no time to check out.

Restaurant is a short outside walk from reception desk - so if it does rain take an umbrella.

The food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious.

The service, the hotel and the food was excellent, and we were very satisfied with it.

but it removes yet another high-class restaurant from the Beaujolais scene.

We arrived there at the last minute and we had a very nice room at the ground floor.We had an enjoyable dinner at the restaurant.Service excellent the owner very attentive and helpful.The hotel is few steps away from the cellar of George Duboeuf and the very ancient railway station.Nice atmosphere of the surroundings.

We chose the small P/D only because we had had such a wonderful dinner the evening before.

The surprise to our visit was the cuisine which was exceptional, and prepared to very high standards.

We have stayed here three times with our two spaniels and each time the staff have been very welcoming, the restaurant has been excellent, and we have enjoyed our stay.

I did not have any breakfast so cannot speak for the breakfast food.

Very comfortable, super pool and lovely food especially on the return journey.

All I know if I had the small room I would have been very unhappy.

My only criticism is that the bathrooom, which is en-suite literally, is small and the room itself has limited surfaces for putting out one's things: maps, phones, keys,etc.

The atmosphere created by the staff was pleasing to feel.

The spa in the park is fun, and the massages are great and absolutely professional.

We had a very comfortable stylish room, with a wide desk and good wifi, and a good-sized bathroom with tub.

In my mind there is a question mark generally regarding value for money.

In particular, this applies to the male receptionist working while we were there.

but it was solid, and again, the staff was wonderful.

The food, the wine recommendations, the staff and the overall ambiance were wonderful.

After some minutes, she finally acknowledged my comments and admitted the breakfast charge was incorrect.

but hotel not to be recommend price/quality not in balance.

The SPA area can only be accessed by adults and is not free of charge and is € 43 for two hours per person.

Connected wine cellar charges between 8 and 15 euros for tasting.

At the end when presented with the bill, I noticed I had been charged for a different higher priced wine. When I remonstrated, the waiter calmly said "well for 4 Euros more etc, you got a much better wine!"

The final straw was when the hotel took an anauthorised four figure payment from my account to cover "extras" before sending me the invoice.

Breakfast was served in our room at no extra charge and free wifi was available in our room as well.

Unfortunately the set menu didn't change and rather than give you a credit towards your second night's dinner so you could pick from the a la carte menu, you had to pick from the same set menu (three choices only for each course) that you'd had the night before.

They then charged us 70 Euros for four sandwiches!

The gentleman who welcomed us at check in walked us to our room and was so friendly and smiling.

Very friendly staff, great calm and relaxing venue.

The staff is friendly and it has a fine restaurant and menu and of course a great selection of wines.

The service was attentive, friendly and not obtrusive.

Beautiful "chateau", very peaceful and friendly staff.
