This was a bad case as we left our toilet door ajar and I woke up at 4am suffocating from the smell of smoke in our room.

Beware the bathroom only has one door - it either seals the doorway to the shower or to the entire bathroom.

The only thing I would mention, is that in the bathroom, the door doubles as a shower door and a bathroom door.

however, theres only one door in the bathroom which is used as the main door and shower door, thats rather cheap and inconvenient.

Free shuttle service is available from Taichung HSR that alighted us at the Taichung Park Bus Stop which was a 5-10min walk away.

Checked with the front desk for the timetable of bus 302 from the Taichung Park to the airport, she told me that it might take up to 2-3 hours even after the busy hours in the morning.

There are many bus stop around, you can take that to go anywhere,,,,,,,,,

2 minutes'walk from the bus stop that connects you from Tai Chung HSR.

Bus stops are only adjacent to the hotel.

Located right opposite to the Taichung park and  near bus terminal to other tourist attractions around Taichung county, it’s a good choice for travelers indeed.

Also, the daily shuttle bus services to sun moon lake is literally just next to the hotel.

but we mostly used the bus system which works well.

The best thing was that the bus terminus of this 302 was just half a street away from hotel.

Nearest park is nice place to take a brisk walk
Hotel is just beside the bus stand so good option for going out different place.

They were supremely helpful in answering our questions about public transport and buses.

Location wise, this was a short walk to the bus terminal and train station.

Suggest provide a shuttle mini bus from taichung HST to the hotel.

I stayed at Holiday Inn Express Taichung Park 1 night 1 QUEEN BED PARK VIEW NONSMOKING Upgrade 1 step for Platinum member with 1 drink.This is location can used Shattle bus form HSR taichung staion(Free!!!)

The train station (Taiwan Rail) is around 10 minutes walking distance and the bus stop to the High Speed Rail Station is nearby to this hotel apart from taxi services.

The location couldn't have been better, only 1 minute walk away from the bus terminus, with buses to many places in the area (Puli, Sun Moon Lake, Cingjing, and more).

right next to the hotel is Nantou bus which you can take bus to go to Sunmoon lake.

The reception desk has a pamphlet from the centre with the timings for the above buses.

Not only that he and his colleagues help us to find the best ways to take buses and move around the city and travel to tourist attractions.

From check-in to check-out, all the staff was very attentive, welcoming, helpful and friendly.

But to my surprise, after we checked in the front desk people were very friendly and accommodating.

The staff here are friendly and very organized.

She was very friendly and the checkin was very smooth and relax.

The reception staff are amazingly friendly (and yes like any other country in the world, it’s easier if you speak the local language).

I do prefer the rooms overlooking the interior of the hotel instead the outside on crowded streets , for obvious reasons .

Anyway, two members at my family were forced to join IHG for no reason as we were too tired to look other hotels under the 90 F outsides.

I made a book earlier today for the weekend family travel and give a call to ask I can get the room upgrade, the answer is not and the reason is HIX is the brand in IHG which don't provided room upgrade even for top tier member, I double check in IHG site for the benifit of member and can not find this exception.

however, we could enjoy park view just walked out the room and only couple steps from a seating corner with floor-to-ceiling window to view the park.

As a Spire Élite member, I finally got an upgrade to a room with a great view from this not-so-generous Holiday Inn Express this time.

Room was spacious and we were given the one on 12th floor which provided a good view.

First stay was being upgraded to a corner room,

Room perfect well maintained and cleaned daily.

The room is spacious and comes with everything we needed.

I wrote to the hotel asking them to treat the room to prevent it happening to the next guest.

Hotel Location is in city center, booked 2 rooms they kindly gave us park view rooms. hotel amenity is fine(instant noodle and 2 sun cake..they are yummy!)

The t almost canceled this hotel reservation because it sent an email mentioned the restaurant is being renovated, breakfast will be delivered to the room.

If you get lake side room, view is excellent!

Hotel room is not big yet acceptable as compared with the price.

This my first time stay in Taichung holiday inn express, the location is really good ,near the train station and 一中 street .The front desk is really helpful, they tell me where I can eat delicious food.

Staff at hotel are very nice and helpful especially getting taxis with good security for taxi number and destination.

Our earlier engagement with the reservation team was great, especially with the help with one Ms. Liu who handled our last minute booking and managed to secure a room for us despite our failure to do so over the IHG app before.

During our check-in, Sky offers us a room with a good view facing the Taichung park.

but I read quite some local bloggers wrote in Chinese about their elite status upgrade automatically to the lake view room experiences and recommended this hotel to their viewers, so I was wondering why they have different attitudes about their upgrade policy.

First time in Taichung & decided to stay at this hotel as it’s just next to Taichung Park.I was lucky to have the room overlooking the Taichung Park.

Firstly the room view is very nice, overlooking the Taichung Central Park.

The room was great - large and clean and had everything we needed including a great view.

Mysterious chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor

It's a 5 minute walk from the Taichung Rail/Bus Station, not to be confused with the Taichung High Speed Rail Station, overlooking Taichung Park.

Reception staff were very kind to upgrade us to a room with Taichung Park view and even offered to provide us with a baby bath tub for the kid.

but as they are window glass looking outside, you get a view with the slower ride.

My room faced the Park and window view was scenic.

The room was clean and bright with pleasant view from the window.

He really enjoy seeing the view of Taichung park from our room even the park are under renovation.

but are getting a bit dated, with ripped net curtains.

Anyway not a big deal, as the hotel immediately came and fixed the shower curtain after we notified them it has not been done yet.

These are rooms with windows looking into the shopping area.

When we peeked out of the window, it is facing rooms from the other side.

Our room faces the inner shopping mall and we had to close the blinds all the time.

I could not open a curtain because a room was facing a courtyard.

Unfortunately, like so many other hotels, the windows are sealed so no nice pictures can be gotten from the vantage point.

But there is no view from the hotel room, the window is sealed and locked, opening the curtain only see walls.

Nice Staff, Fast Services, Great Service, Room is Large and Spacious, Modern and also Clean, Closed to Famous Night Market.

There are so much food available in the night market and in the basement of the department store there is a supermarket and a food court.

2 or 3 streets of markets as the hotel is right next to a university so there is a lot of shops selling to the young people.

Zhong Yi night market and shops just across the road.

Opposite a night market and there are malls around.

Next to many shopping areas including Yi Zhong night market.

Directly opposite a night market and between shopping Malls.

It is very close to a great night market.

The hotel is located at a bustling shopping street and a night market is just 5-10mins away.

Very nice location accessible to mall, night market and many nice local food.

Ken, who spoke wonderful English and was always so accommodating as well as another lady staff (unfortunately we were not able to get her name) even went out to the street to try to hail taxis for us under the rain.

Two downsides though, one is the room rate is usually higher than other business hotels, and two, some hotel car parking share spaces with their garbage collection area, which is quite smelly.

though a non-smoking hotel, there were definitely people smoking in rooms near me.

There is a saturday morning jade market across from the Taichung Park and also many other things to see and do in this area.

About 15 minutes' stroll to Taichung park, and a further 5 minutes to TaichungTrain station (not the HSR station), Miyahara confectionery, 4th Credit Cooperative ice cream parlour and several nearby attractions.

Close to Taichung Park, my husband went running there.

It is convenient where we could easily look out for eateries around, nearest Chun Shui Tang Teahouse, ChungYo Shopping Mall, Taichung Park and Yizhong Jie that are within short walking distance.

An easy walking trip as it is just around the block.

We walked across the road to the night market and a department store is about 3 minutes walk from the hotel.

The location was very central, about 15 minutes walk to the train station and the famous shop converted from an eye hospital.

The night market is just a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Location is good, just walk across street, there's night market, bookshop, convenient stores.

but I never skip the hotel breakfast at the Lai Lai, which is a 5-minute walk north to the giant Chung-Yo mall, and literally across the street from a wonderful and extensive night market.

Chung Yo Dept store is about 10 min walk down the road, a large dept store,

If you need a mall with a supermarket, there is 1 within a 5-minute walk.

Thanks to the hotel's walking map - I could easily familiarise myself with the eateries available in just minutes of time.

About shopping - I realised the shops around the vicinity open late and closed late (11am - 12 am), Lai Lai hotel is only 5 mins walk to a 2 blocks x 15 stories department store and night markets, cant ask for more if you keen to shop a bit.

The room was spacious, clean and very modern and the bed was extremely comfortable, I even walked barefoot on the carpet, it looked almost brand new, there were also fresh slippers in the closet to use .

The breakfast provided was a well balanced blend of continental and Taiwanese.

You can also travel to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine  Art  and Feng ~Kia night market by taxi if the weather is good.

The hotel rooms are spacious with nicely decorated bathroom that has a really good rain shower.

It is fairly spacious, clean, and loaded with whatever you would expect from a regular hotel in a modern decoration.

Great and convenient location, with The Natural Science Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts close by.

Good Food Options in different style restaurants add to the flavours . .

I really felt in love with that atmosphere of evening Taichung, friendly people and warm weather.

Bar is okay, more elegant than others in Taichung.

It has too many to choose from Western, Taiwanese, and Chinese, including an area that served Taiwanese style noodle soup and freshly boiled leafy greens.

The service & food are just average as a five star hotel, you can tell from the details like deco, food ingredients and the products.

I thought that the environment in there was comfortable for me and our family.

Especially because these are very slow (long average wait time)
- beds are on the hard side

Taking into account some of these major cons, the value for the price is not really in balance.

Only slight criticism would be that the beds are a little hard.

The mattress is hard (I live in China and have gotten used to hard mattresses), BUT this is ridiculous.

The shower fixtures were old and the bed was a little too hard for me.

Staff was friendly and was always willing to help.

Rooms were more than perfect, the service is excellent and the staff is friendly and well-trained.

Pros: Rooms are of good size, everything is clean, good amount of amenities, 2 free bottles of water every day, comfortable beds of good size. Check-in/Check-out is fast, staff are friendly and helpful, everything is well organized (luggage hold, calling taxi, etc.)
