With an easy 15 min walk into Keswick town centre Laurel Bank is ideally positioned for all activities.

Gary & Sue were great hosts, breakfast was great and the BB was in a good location just 1 mile from Keswick town centre.

This lovely B&B is situated just a mile walk away from the town centre , conveniently located so that you can walk the route of the old Keswick trainline, which our dog loved.

I’ve stayed at Laurel B&B twice now and it’s my go to when I visit Keswick. It’s less than a mile to Keswick town centre, it’s very close to trails for walks and Gary and Sue were more than happy for our furry friend to stay too (there’s one dog friendly room!)

The location of Laurel Bank Guest House, was really good, within a walking distance to the town centre in Keswick.

10 minute walk into the centre of Keswick is picturesque.

Fabulous, traditional bed and breakfast in a great location, just a mile into the centre of Keswick.

Laurel Bank is also very close to Keswick town centre, Castlerigg Stone Circle and there is a bus stop a minute away from the front door.

Ideal location for town centre, with parking.

It’s around a 15 min walk into the centre of Keswick and if you use the footpath / old railway line it’s lovely (and safe).

The location was perfect for us, a short walk into the centre and close to the converted railway line to get straight on to the fells (Latrigg, Skiddaw, Blencathra), and it's just 1km from the Castlerigg Stone Circle.

Less then 15 minutes walk down the old train line trail to the center of Keswick.

the town centre is 15 mins away down the old railway line, we did it in the day and night - your eyes soon adjust

It was easy to find and close to Keswick town center.

Laurel Bank is a super little guest house with secure parking and in walking distance of the centre of Keswick.

Lovely walk into town centre with Gary's directions and recommendations on where to eat.

Great breakfast in the morning, room was spotless and the location was ideal (being a short walk away from Keswick town centre).

Gary provided us with the necessary information and Maps and this meant that our walk around Derwent Water, to Latrrig peak, to the Castlerigg Stones, drives to Honicker pass and Buttermere and back, to Ambleside and Grasmere and back, were all completed without a hitch.

Driving the back roads was almost magical!

We were given lots of helpful local information with regard to restaurants, drives and walks in the area.

Very short driving distance from Keswick.

The owners gave us the ins and outs of Keswick including great recommendations for a drive on one of those iffy weather days and a better way to enjoy the hike up Cat's Bell.

It is easy to spot as you drive down the Penrith Road, and they have ample private parking to the rear of the house.

We were greeted by Sue and she made us a lovely pot of coffee much needed after a 7 hour drive from Wales.

After a rather long drive that was most welcome and Sue also brought a couple of homemade goodies to accompany the tea.

We stayed here over a weekend for 2 nights and after a long drive from London it was such a lovely welcome, friendly and inviting - we was shown to our room and as we hadnt been before was given all the information about the local area and bars to try!

The location is a pleasant 15 minute walk into the center of Keswick, easy to find on the drive in and also handy for the nearby Castlerigg stone circle attraction.

Our room was exceptionally clean and I greatly appreciated the pot of tea Sue made us after landing in Edinburgh and driving to Laurel Bank!

Laurel Bank is situated near to Keswick town centre (25 min walk) or 5 min drive, taxis are £3 which is cheaper than parking in the centre of the town.

We were booked in for dinner at The Pheasant which was excellent and a 3 minute drive away.

but we opted to visit a couple of the local hotels which were a short drive out of the village, and had dinner there instead.

Had some great food at a pub called the white horse in Scales, just a short 5 minute drive from the accommodation 
Very happy to recommend this B&B and we would definitely stay here again should we come to Keswick, thankyou Sue and Gary for a great stay, Clare, Rob,Ruby & 'Fred (!!)' 😊

Gary the owner even offered to drive us into town on the evening, what a star, above and beyond 😊.

They even, as we were driving out of their private parking, came out to the road to wave us out .

We'd  booked a  meal at the Lakes  Bar and Bistro, our driver dropped  us all off and was going to walk back

Can we just say a big thankyou to Gary and Sue for being so accommodating from allowing us to check in early so we could change in time for the wedding to Gary very kindly offering to drive us to the wedding venue.

The room was clean ,tidy and well appointed.

Location is perfect for walking into Keswick and the rooms were clean and well appointed.

The room was spotlessly clean, the hosts Sue and Gary as frie day and helpful as ever.

The room was clean and spacious and decorated to a high standard.

The room was spotless and even toiletries were on hand along with tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits.

We stayed for 2 nights, our room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated.

Sue and Gary were incredible hosts, the room was clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities along with a lovely woodland/mountain view.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because there was only a few hangers to hang your coats, no chest of draws or wardrobe, the room was small so that is proberly why.

The "in suite" was carved out a tiny room making it smaller  still.

Although the bedroom was very small and so was the en-suite.

Our only gripe was the fact the shower cubicle in the onsuite bedroom was very small.

It’s in the perfect location to walk into the town didn’t need to use our car whilst we where here could walk to everything we wanted to do.

Since it is an easy 15-minute walk into town parking is free and secure at the B&B.

We just wanted a couple of nights in a B&B in Keswick and to be able to walk into town to eat out in the evening.

Nice walk to town on foot/cycle path, especially for furry friends.

Nice location with easy access into the Town via the old railway line footpath. 👌

I highly recommend this place to stay for the excellent location to the town, lake and all of the walks virtually on the doorstep.

Enjoyed walk along the old Thelkeld/Keswick railway line, a pleasant 15 minute stroll into the heart of town.

It was a great location to some many beautiful towns.

The accommodation is situated near the old railway walking path which is a beautiful walk into the town.

This made the trip into town peaceful and very pretty as we explored the city's gardens.

Gary kindly explained the shortcut into town which is a pleasant and safe footpath that runs along the old railway track and straight into town.

We were supplied with a fan and left the window open as much as possible,

Unfortunately there was an air conditioning unit out side the kitchen which went on & off all night and had a very loud rattle.

We we’re changed room because we had a kitchen extractor fan outside our bedroom window which was going on all night.

Rooms aren't well ventilated and get stuffy at night even with the window open.

On entering it appeared drab and we wondered if the heating had been off for a few days.

We had to have the window open as there’s no air conditioning.

but unfortunately because it had no air con we needed the window open because it’s summer, consequently all the flies came in …. Ugh!

The window frames, both inside and out and radiators and walls were showing chipped and peeling paint.

However, the solution was easy, I turned the Radiator off and we never needed to turn it on again.

Heating could be a problem in very cold weather as small radiator in a room with large window and high ceiling.

There was rust down the radiator and skirting boards missing with a very old door.

Only niggle was that they have put a roller blind and no curtains in the room, this is both not effective and aesthetically poor, the room does not look finished without curtains.

however was a total shock and disgrace there was barely four feet square to use and you certainly could not fully open the door because of the radiator on the inside wall.

Apparently this was not good enough and she returned to the desk to complain about the possibility of tripping over the leads and took offence at the logical suggestion that she placed the fans on the dressing table.

We immediately rang to reception and they provided 2 fans which circulated hot air and due to the lack of sockets were plugged in within our walk way, so if we got up for the toilet we would trip over the lead, apparently that would be my fault cos I'd requested a fan!! £194!!.

Air con would have been nice as room was a little warm although there were 3 sash windows in room

The bar areas and dining room were very clean and comfortable.

Public ares clean with large bar area with comfy seating , drink prices very reasonable given it’s a hotel and certainly much cheaper then bars in Keswick itself .

The hotel is very clean and welcoming with a lovely spacious bar area.

The Bar area is recently updated and it very comfy in a contemporary style.

The service is exceptional throughout the hotel - special mention for Sophie on reception, the food in the restaurant is first class and the bar area is very relaxing and comfortable.

The Lonsdale Dining Room exceeded our expectations.

The dining room team are also exceptional, like a well oiled machine, led brilliantly by a very pleasant and enthusiastic lady.

The common parts and particularly the dining room are on a grand scale and it is easy to imaging how it appeared a hundred and twenty years ago when Keswick, and this hotel was the major railway destination.

The food and service in the dining room were superb.

The dining room was also in need of fresh decoration.

Plenty of room in the lounge and space between tables in the dining room.

We stayed three nights and must praise all the staff from housekeeping, reception , dining room and catering.

The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas, as was the party night dining room.

Choices to suit all served in beautiful dining room by wonderful attentive staff.

The dining room is very well organised and the waiting staff are really efficient.

The surprise was the dining room: on our visit two meals were included.

Dinner was absolutely superb with plenty of choices, beautiful food, and amazing service in the Dining Room.

The grand dining room serves a delicious 3 course dinner, the bar and lounges are bright and  relaxing and bedrooms newly decorated and comfortable.

We spent some time in the beutiful gardens before heading out to a pre arranged engagement.

The hotel had a lovely lawn, garden, and large and comfortable lounge/bar area.

Gardens well kept with lovely seating areas to enjoy the great verses on the hills .

The gardens are also lovely and quiet to sit and have a drink in at the end of the day.

The gardens are beautiful & well maintained.

Built in 1869 as railway hotel it is situated in its own lovely gardens.

The weather has been hot for March, we have been very lucky so made the most of the lovely gardens.

There is ample parking and well looked after gardens to relax in.

The location of our room wasn’t great with a view over the bins despite being told at the time of booking that we were on the side of the hotel overlooking the garden?

We had a nice room overlooking the garden which was very pleasant.

We ate a tasty full cooked breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant with a table that overlooked the lovely gardens and spent a few hours throughout the weekend at different times in the hotel's bar/lounge.

The garden is just gorgeous to sit in and enjoy drinks or a cream tea.

Breakfast was were the hotel excelled, the room where we ate was lovely light and airy with a great view of the garden which is very well kept; the staff were attentive and polite and the choice of food was very good.

The room was clean & bright & possibly had been refurbished recently.

but the bonus was the view the mountains awesome

Our room was a standard double room which was clean, spacious and the bathroom was newly fitted.

The frame of the shower cubicle in our room could also have done with a deep clean, the rest of the room was very clean.

Was the best thing about the hotel room 100 really spotless beautiful view.

Rooms clean and spacious, al public areas well looked after and the food is to die for.

Although smallish the room was clean, well appointed and comfortable.

We have stayed many times and the hotel never fails to impress, the room spotless, food was superb, staff  helpful, friendly and kind (big thanks to Chloe in the bar) We shall continue to return to this relaxing hotel, see you soon.

When having a shower, you could smell sweat and musty aroma which is not great.

There was a distinct smell of drains too.

Only criticism room wad a bit tired in decorating and a bit of a musty smell in  landing to room

The room we were in must have just been finished because it smelled of paint.

But the real issue was our bathroom which was absolutely filthy!!

but the bathroom had black mould in a few places.

Due to unpleasant odour checked inside pillow cases to find dirty & stained pillows.

Whilst their room was very large and beds comfortable it was a bit more dated and there was a slightly musty smell in the entrance hall.

Made a reservation with this filth of a place

Ended up having to close window, which on a warm night wasn't idea,  Also green light from smoke detector kept flashing s beam across the ceiling.

but the bathroom was just plain out of date - it worked and it was clean but for the price I would have expected better final touches - damp and flaking ceiling and the seals at the bottom of the tiles had black mould Carpet in the bedroom was very old and there were screws about to poke through in a number of places - we put a book over them as they hurt our feet.

Our room (318) had obviously just been decorated, a smell of paint and new carpet.

The only negative is the flashing smoke detector light in the room which disturbed my sleep, a common problem in hotels these days.

The sash windows open sufficiently to ventilate (but not to smoke out of)!

No musty smell in the corridors which you often find in older properties.

We walked into a freezing cold room which smelled of damp, the bed was a double bed, not king size.

but does that really excuse providing a cold meal and forgetting to cook some of the food.

She saved me going out into the cold rain by finding one she keeps for any wedding couples.

The room was ever so cold even when we tried to up the temperature control.

This was a new Premier Inn and I therefore expected the same or better. We struggled to turn up the thermostat to our room which was cold on arrival and we only had 2 pillows ( 1 each so no choice and mine was hard!)

Checked in and shower kept going hot and cold, water dripping out, bathroom fan damaged, Night reception callum told me I would get a possible refund, spoke to afternoon receptionist karen, she told me all premier inn hotels have different owners and there's nothing we can do, disgusting customer service, would not recommend to anyone, i think the receptionist are prone to lying.

We ordered breakfast, which was served stone cold, and they didn’t even bring the cereal we ordered!

I'd only been sat down 2 minutes before the staff asked what hot food I'd like, suggesting I wasn't free to make the most of the cold items - it was one or the other

Part of the fun of Premier Inn is the buffet.

Woke up absolutely freezing cold on numerous occasions.

The hotel is attached to the Brewers fayre so no going out in the cold.

The English breakfast would have been excellent had it not been cold.

The frozen fish for the fish and chips was cooked in cold oil so the batter fell off and the fish very watery.

Temperature control in room not working - either too hot or too cold.

The Premier Inn Cockermouth hotel is near these landmarks: Wordsworth House and Garden, Lets go Karting - West Cumbria, Helena Thompson Museum, St.

Only a few small gripes including slightly patchy wifi, smaller beds than the newer hotels, poor signage from the roundabout.

The bathroom was full of black hairs I take were the poor cleaners who must be going bald at this rate.

As I said at the start of review if it was not for Sally and George, I would have put my bags straight back in my vehicle and left due to poor service offered by management.

I paid the extra £5 for ultimate WIFI, which had a poor connection and kept dropping out.

Having stayed in several Premier it was disappointing to receive such poor service and appalling food.

Reading previous reviews I must have been in a different hotel, staff unhelpful and unwilling, room had damaged equipment,moved to room adjacent to air con units unable to sleep, evacuated due to false fire alarm, meals next door poor standard, as for good nights sleep guarantee dont waste your time trying to claim on this they will use every possible reason not to refund your money ,

Room ok breakfast poor location good for what we wanted as an overnight stay enroute South premier inn breakfast is not value for money , food cooked and left under lights is not ideal

but 45 minutes wait for my wife's beakfast was very poor.

though that the Brewers Fayre is of a very poor standard.

Phone signal in the area is also very poor (as you would expect in the Lake District area),

Despite the comfort of the bed I had a poor night because my arthritis was  playing up.
