Breakfast is generally included in the rate and is offered in the restaurant every morning - and it is delightful!!

The entire hotel is fascinating, from the stunning terrace through the lobby to the cozy brasserie restaurant where breakfast is served.

Very good breakfast and  near perfect cocktails, staff uniformly friendly and a very good concierge service which was right every time.

Finally, the restaurant staff is there for every need - and the breakfast buffet and lunch menu are top notch.

The food was unbelievable delicious, the room with a lake view was magical and the staff spoiled us every second, always smiling and positive.

I went for breakfast and the service was great.

In addition, they have a great breakfast option with good food selections and a great view.

Breakfast has a modest offering as hot food is ordered from the waiter and comes out freshly cooked rather than sitting in warming trays for hours.

My room was fabulous Breakfast offered a superb selection.

Rolls, Bentleys and Porches parked out front; beautiful Michelin-star restaurant overlooking the river, attentive and helpful staff make one feel like a star of some repute.

The rooms are large, quiet and comfortable, the staff is endlessly helpful and breakfast is delicious.

Incidentally, the included breakfast was very good.

The breakfast was on top of the top level, every request/ your every wish is fulfilled.

We never ordered the flowers, there wasn’t a note to say that we had to pay for the flowers to welcome us .

At the current sterling  exchange rates it is not cheap

but tired decor and overpriced mediocre meal.

Unfriendly and incompetent service and sub-quality cuisine - at an exorbitent price, nota bene!

The choice of food is very wide and prices vary a little on the expensive side

The rates were at the top of our budget, so shortcomings were annoying (WiFi kept dropping out, tram screeching from 5AM-1AM, shower valve faulty, and be sure to order your homlette as you walk in or you'll get it after you ate your breakfast).

Also, know that goods and services in Basel are very expensive, and this hotel was no exception.

Then stay some place that isn’t a total ripoff.

The food and service were perfect if a little expensive.

No one falling over you here and expensive for what you get

To start we paid extra for the Bentley covered in graffiti to pick us up at the airport in Mullhaus, France.

Helpful front desk, excellent restaurant, breakfast recommended as well (friendly service staff will help you with your choice of eggs).

Breakfast is awesome, with many options on the buffet.

Great location in a calm street near the city centre, close to public transport and within walking distance to all turist attractions, excellent and very fresh breakfast with hot a la cart dishes and real coffee!

Good self-help breakfast with eggs etc anyway you like them in discrete dining room; lovely terrace on different levels.

but our room was not that large compared to others we could see when they were being cleaned, and it was on a corridor from the lift to the main block, so we could hear people walking past our room on the creaking floor.

The “Arts “ building is without elevator & is steep 3 floors & if you book into the suite it’s another 4 th floor steep steps within the duplex.

Recommend not staying in rooms 14 & 15 because they are located close to the elevator (14) and on a stair landing (15) where there's noisy, people traffic due to the wooden floors.

Also be aware that there are no elevators.

Elevator didn't go to top floor so some steps.

Also there is no elevator if you got a room in the Art Building.

however that due to the historical nature of the building there are no lifts.

It was on the last floor (without elevator), steaming hot

however they put us on the third floor of the building (without elevator) and we had to carry up our luggage by ourselves.

Our family room was three floors up in part of the building where there is no lift.

The rooms in the "Art" part of the hotel are individually decorated, large, well equipped, each with its individual feeling and touch (caution: there is no elevator in this building,

but there are many rooms with a level route between the lift and the room.

I asked for a room in a floor served with a lift for I was travelling with my mum and they put us in a room in the middle of the stairs, not thoughtful.

The only downside was our room was located on third floor and there was no elevator.

although sometimes the absence of a lift made it a trudge up the stairs.

Since we don't travel lightly, we were delighted to find that Der Teufelhof does have an elevator.

Breakfast is not included and the restaurant is pricey.

Opening our windows on the third floor and looking out over the "Old Town" and watching the residents going about their day was worth the price itself.

however tiny and too expensive for the equipment and the surface offered.

It is so dull and largely ugly, terribly expensive and lacking in any sense of place.

but the one they had was nothing special or unusual, and they wished they had not bothered to pay the premium.

Also, Basel itself is outrageously expensive!

We paid 15 Francs extra per person per day.

But all aspects were overpriced even accounting for Switzerland’s high prices.

So why only four out five, rather than the max - for the price (rather than their star rating) I think that air conditioning should be available,

but I would rate the comportment of the restaurant staff (at both times) -- in sharp contrast with the staff at the hotel reception desk -- to have been the hotel's weak spot.

Yes, that is a period with higher prices than usual

The requirement to book a table well in advance to one side this is a great place to stay and at CHF300  for a double room including breakfast not too expensive for a boutique luxury city centre hotel.

We ate at Atelier the restaurant attached to the hotel, quite expensive

Should be trained before letting them loose with the paying public, as the meals there are very expensive.

Some of the other rooms are very small, just showcases for the room decorations/art.

Hot spell when we stayed there and as the hotel doesn't have air conditioning we had to open our windows ( the room was so small that the windows always have to opened)

On the down side the Easy rooms are very small, and hot as someone else said (and this was late September so must have been frying in summer), and who thought it's a good idea to have wooden floors in rooms and, particularly, corridors?

I made the reservations in advance, which I suggest doing, to save on rates and secure your room in this very small hotel.

Unfortunately we were not aware of Swiss hotel standards so we chose a room in the non boutique part,  room was small

We arrived weary after a five hour train journey.We needed some food and a comfortable room.This hotel is in a splendid position opposite the busy train station.The rooms are very well presented,and the shower was second to none.We spent a very comfortable night in a busy city in silence.Down to breakfast and we were faced with bacon for the first time in over a week.Fresh fruit and various cereals made this delicious fayre worth talking about.Super

The only criticism is that our room was on the front of the hotel and we were awaken at five o'clock when the trams start running along the street outside.

This s not a problem unless you open the window, it then is noisy.

Could hear some noice from the tram lines in the morning in a room toward the central tram line, like a rumbling.

This hotel could have gotten to honours from my wife and I hadn't it been for two things: Even in fifth floor you coud hear the trams stopping and leaving outside the hotel.

I did ask for a room away from the street as the trams start very early and can be a bit noisy.

It could be noisy if you were there in the day when the building work was going on

Even with the windows closed, I could hear each one of these streetcars, and I even felt them as they were creating vibrations in the room.

Quite noisy with trams just outside the windows.

I never felt disturbed by the many teams that go by on Station-Square.

In essence, everything about the breakfast reflected an attitude that permeates the entire hotel: squeeze the guest.

A special mention must go to a wonderful guy working in the restaurant, who went beyond expectations when providing healthy drinks for a laryngitis sufferer in our party!

There was a choice of a warm or cold buffet for breakfast and we were well looked after by the staff.

The breakfast buffet had many choices and was tasty.

The breakfast buffet at the on-site restaurant was quite good.

The breakfast buffet was very tasty and the personnel was polite.

The cutest little rolls were brought out and they were delicious.
