The bar on premises is closed on Sunday's and Monday's which is a bit of a bummer

Travelers tip 2: when planning your activities in Barcelona, keep in mind that many places are closed on Sunday.

The elevators, halls and rooms feel closed.

We had the drapes closed for privacy most of the time so the room had a cave-like feel to it.

but be aware that the restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday.

The area is then closed for an hour, allowing the staff to remove breakfast and ready the area for the rest of the day.

We had the "city suite," and it was huge when the sofa bed was closed.

We didn't make use of the downstairs area as it was closed during our stay -

At 11:30, breakfast closed and an extensive choice of snacks, salad, soup, and drinks were available - all at no extra cost.

but once the doors to the balconies were closed, you could not hear a thing.

Because it was a holiday, many sites and restaurants were closed.

The kids did not like the fact that the sliding door separating the bathroom and bedroom did not close fully due to the design of the hanging rail around the wall which meant the door had no lock and a very small gap was left when closed.

however our adapter kept falling out when we closed the safe door.

Unfortunately, the restaurant next door was closed 2 of the 3 nights I was there and  I did not have a reservation for the first night.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed while we were there,

The bedroom was dead quiet and so dark that it became too easy to sleep too long.

A bit concerned because the photos showed what appeared to be a dark (red walls) & smallish room.

I would recommend an upper floor as the 1st floor is a bit dark (and I was on the 'city view' side) and noisy if you have your windows open.

Everything was dark red and black not very inviting in my own personal view.

The only thing to note about the room is that it’s a bit dark and faces the street.

If I had one nit-pick it's that the room was rather dark, and there was an area of the room that wasn't lit at all.

My husband was able to sit up and watch tv while I went off to sleep in a dark room.

but to get to hotel you had to walk about 3 blocks  down a very dark narrow street/alley.

You can make the room as bright or dark as you want with the roll down blinds.

Perhaps the most important is that there is no clock that can be read in the dark so it is impossible to know the time with the shades drawn unless you turn on your cell phone.

but very dark due to red and black decor and lack of enough natural light.

Lighting could have been better as the bedroom was a little dark.

Rooms in the A part comprise 2 parts: a bedroom with bath facing the vertical gardens (very quiet,but a bit on the dark side) and across the floor a small living area with a hammock (this side faces a small road well frequented also in the night).

At first the bedroom feels a bit dark as there are no windows,

although this view and red colour of bedroom make this place rather dark.

The main reason I could not give it 5 stars was because the room was so dark with harsh lighting and it got very little natural daylight which kind of spoilt the experience.

And the location is super quiet despite being only a short walk from Las Ramblas.

Great walk-to-everything location - in the middle of the gothic district near Las Ramblas

We got the aerobus to Catalonia square and it was 5 minutes down las ramblas.

This place is a respite right off of Las Ramblas Street.

The location is great, a few minutes off Las Ramblas in El Raval, not far from the Plaza de Catalunya, and a fairly easy walk to the beach.

Charming hotel two blocks from Las Ramblas, the subway, Born district.

Really good location near Las Ramblas and the University of Barcelona.

This delightful gem of a hotel is tucked about a block from Las Ramblas.

It is located right in the middle of Barrio Gotico, so you are about 5 minute walk from Las Ramblas, and to the Arc de Triomf, Parc de la Citadella and Placa Catalunya where you can get transportation to anywhere, be it tourist buses or airport bus.

The location was perfect we felt, seemed central to everything and just a two minute walk off Las Ramblas.

Only 5 mins walk from Las Ramblas and Catalina Square and yet the room at night was silent.

It definitely is a hidden gem within Las Ramblas area.

Location is perfect in the Gothic Quarter with Las Ramblas, the diversity of Raval and many great restaurants all at your doorstop.

In spite to its closeness to the busy, crazy Las Ramblas it manages to stay quiet.

The hotel is well located, a couple of blocks of the Las Ramblas.

The rooms were huge and the hotel itself is located very close to Las Ramblas making it a great location to explore lots of sites by foot.

The location is excellent - just a short stroll from Las Ramblas.

Location is perfect - just a 5 minute walk from Las Ramblas and the metro station.

Reception is helpful and accommodating with tourist advice and  restaurant bookings.

Food service staff and other front desk Staff were equally helpful and warm.

The breakfast is very good and the all day/night snack and sandwich choices is very helpful to our stay.

Need directions, help with the Metro, need a taxi, where to eat, etc.

The snack bar is super generous with actual food including sandwiches, salads, fruit, hot and cold beverages, etc.

It was the first hotel I’ve stayed in that included food from 7am to 5am.

Alcohol is chargeable yet all soft drinks are free.

It is just a couple hundred yards off The Ramblas, meaning you have fast access to the gothic quarter, the market as well as hundreds of restaurants, and cafes.

There's a great rooftop honesty bar too for relaxing as well as the cocktail bar which is worth a visit.

but it is very convenient, just off the Rambla, near many tourist sites and great restaurants.

(seriously, the assortment of food and drinks was astounding) and it's all complimentary.

Breakfast choices were extensive; complimentary food & drink were available all day.

but felt close to restaurants, shops, ect.

Location, location, location just minutes away from La Rambla with easy access to shops, restaurants and transportation nearby.

The hotel has a cocktail bar with a very talented bartender in the basement.

Hot made to order breakfasts and all day yummy snacks are included - like salads, sandwiches, tiramisu, yogurt, etc.

Comfortable rooms, great staff, complimentary food and drink after 12.30pm, the roof terrace, the rain shower on the roof, the location, great chef who cooks your breakfast to order.

We walked a short distance to las ramblas for shopping and delicious tapas at bar canate.

5 minute walk from Las Ramblas and another 5 to all the dining in the port area.

The location is perfect for the Gothic Quarter, waterfront, and Las Ramblas.

Easily can walk to Las Ramblas, shopping district.

It is an easy, five minute or so walk to the Baceloneta beach area, to Las Ramblas and is directly on the southern side of the Gothic area.

The hotel is easily accessible by subway and is also near las Ramblas, it is located at the gothic area of the city, the location is second to none.

While the location of this boutique hotel is outstanding (as it's near Las Ramblas, the marina/beach, and on the edge of the spectacular Gothic Quarter), it is the staff that stands out here.

Hotel The Serras has a lot going for it. The location is excellent, it is close to the beach/marina, and close to all major tourist attractions in Barcelona (Las Ramblas, Sagrada Familia, etc.)

Situated in a wonderful location overlooking Port Vell and walking distance of Las Ramblas, this hotel offers a truly wonderful experience.

A really lovely place to stay, just a short walk to Las Ramblas and the assorted cultural attractions.

They are extremely professional, courteous and welcoming and made us feel so relaxed. The hotel is in a fabulous location just on the edge of the gothic quarter - a few minutes walk to Las Ramblas, the beautiful cafes of Placa Reial or the marina/beaches of Barceloneta depending on what direction you take when you finally drag yourself out of your comfortable room (the beds are to die for!)

All the staff were genuinely friendly, it's in an excellent position for Las Ramblas, and I would recommend a stay here in a heartbeat.

It is extremely well situated, across the road from the marina and just a short walk to Las Ramblas.

The location was a perfect base for exploring the Marina opposite, Las Ramblas a short distance away  and the entire Gothic Quarter.

We also had dinner at Restaurante Informal.

The restaurant is a great place for breakfast, and the Breakfast / Lunch dining manager Sandra gets a special mention - a gracious and helpful hostess, she sets the standard for great service.

While we did not dine at the on-site restaurant (Rooftop) which is supposed to be fantastic, we did enjoy the roof top bar area.

I can’t recommend this boutique hotel highly enough, the staff, the interiors, the restaurant and the location all fantastic.

The staff are attentive, polite and they provided us with great recommendations on restaurants and sites to visit.

Great location, Small, Personal, Innovattive menus and venus to eat/drink.

She was also  very helpful with giving us recommendations on restaurants   The service at the restaurant, Informal, was also very good and we enjoyed the food and great view.

Their customer service, the hotel, the rooftop bar, the restaurants, the room service and the food are 10/10.

Serras Barcelona has a fantastic rooftop restaurant with tremendous views.

The Informal restaurant was also exceptional.

The hotel itself is in a great location walking distance to lots of great restaurants, bars, shops and the waterfront.

It was a great location, great, helpful staff, great accomodations, great restaurant.

The gym was great for a workout, the terrace upstairs was convenient for a quick drink and tapas, and the breakfast was top notch.

They helped with transfers, dinner reservations and a birthday surprise.

We were especially impressed by Sandra, the restaurant manager, who went above and beyond to help when our daughter became ill. We will always remember her kindness and professionalism.

Young smart dedicated staff, like Sandra acting as the perfect host, or Carla welcoming you to the hotel, giving you directions and making sure you can eat out at the best possible restaurant.

Hats off to all of the front staff that gave us such great service and in particular Sandra in the restaurant was amazing.

Silent hotel near all artworks of Barcelona - friendly attentive staff - food and drinks from breakfast to diner were of highest quality served by professionals - room is very nice organised with efficient use of all available place.

The Rooftop Restaurant is top notch-so good that we consider it a destination itself-our meals, wine selection, and cocktails have been absolutely delicious!

The gym is small and entirely functional.

There is a small gym and roof top plunge pool ( a bit cold for that in January!).

There is also a tiny gym; essentially one treadmill and one elliptical trainer plus some minimalistic equipment.

When we got there one morning there was someone on the treadmill and as it is a very small room we struggled to fit in.

Well, the gym is tiny and as a consequence, not that well stocked.

Small gym available with treadmill, elliptical and weights to help offset too many tapas . .

Should be aware gym is very small and parking off site and a 10 minute wait.

Also has a small gym which is perfect for a little workout.

but the seating area into the room made the hotel room small for a suite.

Neither room is large enough as well, even higher categories rooms are actually very small.

I didn’t want to be in the room during the day because it’s so small.

pretentious water saving sink with no facility to hold water.could only get hot water out unless the water was left to run for ages negating the original design to save water.An expensive,small room with the only view from the window of a small alley.

Room was quite small and wasn't anything that special about it for the price to be honest or any special touches apart from bottle of bubbles and some snacks on arrival.

The Rooms are small & face another building, so we upgraded to water facing Jnr suite, it was light & airy
It just not quite quirky enough to be boutique,

The property is small at under 30 rooms and located overlooking the marina.

Sliding doors were utilized to save space, with the sliding door between our bathroom & bedroom not working.

I had to ask them the open the door to the rooftop pool & everything seemed to be late for completion.

When the balcony door was shut, it was soundproof.

Just needed to be careful with the shower and toilet doors.

The shower door in my room was blocked from fully opening by the sink.

The walls were thin as I could hear the guy next door snoring, no problem for me as I always bring earplugs to hotels.

Doorman was frequently more interested in flirting with other patrons than assisting with the front door.

The shower stall leaked water onto the bathroom floor due to poor design and the large gap in its glass door.

The showers leaked all over the floor and it is a very noisy hotel I could hear people in the flats next door and walking through the hotel very clearly all night.

Not very clean room, wardrobe and loo doors definitely needs a repair (its making a terrible sound once you a slidding them).

Only criticism was the bathroom lavatory door couldn’t open wide.

If you not good with heights maybe not a good idea in this room as straight outside your door is a balcony surrounding all the rooms .

Turn right out of the front door and the Ramblas are less than a minute away.

If like me your  claustrophobic you need to have the door open.

The only problems we had were that the AC was difficult to understand/operate and that the shower door let a lot of water out and it often puddled.

but it never went away entirely and we learned to keep the bathroom door closed.

We opted for bed only during our stay and instead used the pastry shop a 60 second walk turning left outside of the front doors.

However, as the hotel room floors are hardwood and not carpet we could hear the room above walking around constantly and the next door rooms TV, so if you are a light sleeper ear plugs would be a recommendation.

Also listening to next doors row at 2am not fun.

Shower door not designed well as the sink was blocking it from opening all the way.

Family room was great with room service and cleaning everyday, breakfast buffet was awesome, pool deck and bar good food and drinks and location was everything, steps from Las Ramblas shops and food galore!

Hotel near to las ramblas and very close to metro station.

A lovely, quiet, modern hotel just moments from the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas is a perfect place for a city break.

but expected as very close to Las Ramblas.

Located on a side street off Las Ramblas.

Situated in a great location just off Las Ramblas it is a really nice hotel, reasonably priced with well-appointed rooms and very helpful staff - a good choice of hotel for a short stay in Barcelona.

We were walking distance to all the attractions and just steps from La Boqueria and Las Ramblas!

This is located close to Las Ramblas and therefore close to everything, that is why you would stay here.

Hotel España is very well located, 2 minutes from Las Ramblas.

The location of this hotel is perfect for seeing the sights of Barcelona as it is just off Las Ramblas.

but the best thing is the location, walking distance to everything: Barrio Gotic, La Boqueria (wonderful open air gourmet food market - don't miss it), Las Ramblas, etc.

Besides a great location, steps from busy Las Ramblas, the rooms are modern.

Hotel Espana is an art nouveau style boutique hotel perfectly situated just off Las Ramblas in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona.

The location is right off Las Ramblas so it couldn't be more convenient for walking everywhere.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel was in an amazing location for easy access to Las Ramblas.

We were given a voucher for a cocktail at the rooftop area as well!

Tje food market is also worth a visit while you are there.

There was a good varied selection of restaurants nearby.

We stayed for 3 nights and took advantage of its location to wander about the Las Ramblas area and enjoyed entertainment and meals in the area.

They did have a restaurant which is closed Mon & Tuesday.

We loved the open-air restaurants on La Rambla and were frequently to be found sitting there with a cocktail or something to eat, watching the world go by.

We were checked in within minutes and were provided a complimentary beverage in the roof top bar, wifi password, maps and restaurant recommendations.

Loved this hotel! The location was fantastic (three minute walk to the food market, two minute walk to the metro), the staff were super nice/helpful, and my room was plenty spacious (I’ve been in rooms before where I had to store my suitcase under the bed- this one was spacious compared to those!)

We had a four night stay and with our close proximity to La Rambla, the food market, metro, buses and the beach we couldn’t have chosen better value for money.

We stopped there every night to have some drinks and tapas.

although situated in small side street, within 80 metres from "Ramblas" within easy reach of Resturants, Shopping outlets and Central Market Area with many stalls selling things from seafood to nuts.

Super friendly welcome from Oscar who pointed us to the rooftop bar for live music and a casual dinner, which was excellent.

May possibly be my all time favorite gourmet meal.

Great choice for breakfast with very tasty and fresh food.

The hotel has an own restaurant and rooftop bar which were super nice.

Very close to everything you need, with the Ramblas 1 minute walk, mercado la boqueria 3 minutes away and a great craft beer pub 30 seconds away.

The room was small, with no seating other than a chair at a small desk.

but I’ve found this a European thing, definitely very different to Australian service

Room was VERY tiny and basic - we were on lvl 1, right above reception and could hear everything.

Rooms are small my children had an upgraded twin room as they didn’t want to sleep together in a double bed and their room was a better size.

The rooms are tiny, the AC is terrible (don't stay here if you like to be cool at night), and the bathroom is too modern (very difficult to figure out how to use the fixtures).

However, the rooms are tiny, smell like it was once a birds cage, and are all very HOT and humid!

The rooms are small to North American standards,

Rooms were quite small you just manage to get around the bed.

The room we had was very small, and very noisy.

To small room for two persons unable to work simultaneously and even to move comfortably in the room.

Coming from the states, I was shocked at how small the rooms were at this hotel.

The entrance and check-in was high level and helpful , the rooms where small sized

Rooms are very small no suitcase stand and not much storage for clothes!

The reason why I’m so disappointed is the the room was far to small and especially for the price charged .
