The reception area is within a magnificent atrium where you can enjoy coffee or cocktails.

however a very large conference hotel with the reception and bar based around an atrium.

The Atrium and style of the building from the inside reminds me of likes of the Burj, Celtic Manor, etc.

The atrium/lobby is beautifully decorated.

Quite a beautiful atrium interior with a striking modern style, which oozes class that spills into the rooms.

Great staff, helpful concierge and all of the hotel staff in general very friendly and hospitable

The buffer breakfast was spectacular - the omlette/egg bar also offering the famous Churro con chocolate, fresh Spanish breads and cheeses - just great, especially the service in the breakfast rooms - they really do a great job !

They could improve service in the bar as it is such a lovely space the hotel is very beautiful.

Each and every one of the staff make you feel UNIQUE,starting with  the  door porther who  is out in the cold,I hope they are paided double,The concierge  who  are perfect,The reception  staff make you feel at home and so wellcome,restaurant & bar staff who look after  you so well.The hotel is calm, comfortable and well  kept,

The way the building is designed allows noise from the bar to amplify, especially the upper floors.

The bar and lobby areas were very relaxing at night for couple drinks, they even had a live DJ (not loud just perfect) to have a great time with some music and drinks.

We were greatly impressed by the service - friendly and efficient of the staff - both in the reception, the restaurants and the bar.

The price of the mini bar in the rooms. .

The hotel itself is large with good bedrooms and bathrooms and a pleasurable bar and lobby area.

The food in the on-site bar/restaurant was also really tasty.

There is a Maclaren in the reception area, this leads to a prestigious bar and restaurant area.

Keep in mind you won't be within walking distance of bars or restaurants,

Two nights before we were set to depart we asked for a print-out of our room charges to review and every night's "upgrade" premium was counted on our bill.

Upon arriving in Barcelona, the following day we received a notification that we had been charged for two nights stay at the Fairmont - we were listed as no shows.

Very slow service, room never ready and clean and also was charged twice for the room and still waiting for a response to my emails after a few days.

We also experienced room key problems on multiple occasions where the key cards did not work, or were neutralized, and we had to get the front desk to issue new keys several times.

but that's it: no offer to have us switch rooms, or to reduce our room charge, or even a free drink at the bar.

and this story happen while Mr.Gamarra as general manager while sending welcome POSTAL card, didn't show up or call for any apology

Slightly surprised I was charged for a small amount of soya milk so I could make tea & coffee in the room.

but as we were checking out the stateroom attendant chased us outside the room, flicked a key card at us and said take your key downstairs in such an abrupt manner.

but a little more attention at check-in and certainly check-out (still waiting for invoice to be emailed to me) would make this a 4/5.

The staff member checking in someone else did not acknowledge anyone in the line and to his credit, had a map of Barcelona out on the desk trying to help the family navigate around town.

Not t like North America, they charge for everything.

I sent multiple emails to their only listed email address asking for an invoice, and went completely ignored for two months.

Firstly this is a 180€ per night room, expensive yes and also unsure as to why they can charge this.

I booked a room with 2 queen beds only to find at Check-in that there is yet another extra charge for our 2 kids of 58 Euros or $70!

5) The house service maid could not understand any English, which is a drag for a hotel like Fairmont

Despite the issues above, I gave it a 4 stars as the DM, Laurie did come out apologized for the inconvenience caused us & deducted some charges as a courtesy.

but I didn find it to this standard to be honest and the location is poor enough , they know there is not much around and I think use this to over charge there customers , I wouldn be staying again the staff were lovely though , pictures and video for proof

Unfortunatlly, this five star hotel, even is charging 200 euro a night, is not able to put cammeras in the garden.

Be Advised that we were informed there is an 80 euro up charge for early check in

2/3 Minor points for me were the noise from the lobby & bar that arrived into my room (6th floor), the windows was very dirty, spoiling the beautiful Barcelona sights and the elevators were sometimes not functioning.

My wow moment was when we were checking out at 3am (had an early flight) and the front desk receptionist came running to get our bags from us as we exited the elevator.

In the room now and as suspected can hear the lifts.

The night manager alleged that signs had been placed around and in the elevators.

when he handed me my key, he acted like he'd found a gem for me, so I was surprised when I headed to the elevator and saw I was on the third floor--no complaints, just not anything special and not worth standing there forever waiting for him to search.

Not sure if everything went as well as expected as there was water running down the front of the elevator door when we checked out.

The lifts were a little slow and I did get trapped in one of them, or thought I did, the lift is activated by room key only and when the doors closed and didn't open I was rather panic stricken.

A first let down was that one of four elevators did not work properly.

Daughters were near lift which occasionally bothered them with noise of people coming back

Only reason I gave this a 4 rather than a 5 was the checkout was very poor.

Scrolling the reviews, I am confused to why this hotel is getting such poor ratings.

We heard similar complaints from other guests who were also clearly frustrated with the poor facilities and quality of staff in the hotel.

However unfortunately we also experienced further poor service with next door’s room service being left outside the room for 3 days until we moved it ourselves - not acceptable for a 5 star hotel.

When we raised again we thought it was poor service at check out, we were told they’d mention to management and “apologise”.

Without doubt, the biggest let down of this hotel is the overpriced, poor F&B.

I stayed in a recently renovated room that is already showing signs of wear and poor workmanship.

The cons: the hotel is currently being refurbished so parts of it were inaccessible and closed off; when we arrived in our room the bathroom stunk and the toilet was coming away from the wall so we asked to move (which they did with no trouble);  the workmanship on the bathroom tiles is very poor; the walls are very thin we were disturbed by a screaming child next door every morning; the hotel drinks and food are very overpriced.

So my highly recomondation is that that you make a donation to the poor hotel to enable them to buy securiry cammeras.

We requested a meeting with the general manager.

I responded to the Fairmont survey and emailed the hotel to complain and asked how I can disable the doorbell (I even turned on the privacy setting,

When asked further, It tuned out none of these rules existed.

Why when we asked for what we’d requested did they just shrug their shoulders and act like it was my problem?

On my last night my guest had problems and I asked Marcelo from concierge for assistance which he willingly did.

Was not impressed by the moment I got there and requesting something so simple TWICE!

We asked on several occasions for the air conditioning system to be repaired,

We were actually asked to queue again to get room key.

Finally, when we asked reception how much a taxi would be to the airport, we were told to get the metro and not feed the greedy pigs.

Room is currently 26.5 degrees- we have asked them to look at air con twice

When booking I requested for a little something as the stay was a birthday gift.

there wasn't much service to speak of--always long lines at the front desk at all hours of the day, and the barman looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for vermouth on ice.

We asked for his name only to see him remove his name badge and being unable to catch it, I have never ever come across anything like it and I would think or hope Fairmont would be ashamed by this.

We had to ask for our cot three times before it finally arrived in the room (it was requested in advance and at check in and was obvious we were with a toddler at check in).

We requested an upgrade at check in and were shown several rooms.

The hotel security denied any responsibility, rolled eyes at us when we asked if there was any video surveillance and basically shrugged it off as "oh well private premises is just a name you know, doesn't mean sh***".

Forgot one clothing item in the room and asked to keep it for one year (normally maximum 6 months).

I can honestly say that there were some hiccups in the room we got that took a few requests to get sorted out,

They even asked for confirmation the day before through email, and they still did not deliver on early check-in which I paid extra for.

(Tip: The glass barriers on each floor overlooking the hotel atrium can be vertigo-inducing, so if you're afraid of heights, you might want to request a lower floor.)

Hotel rooms were good, food was great, interior design of the hotel was interesting and nice.

I ordered Room service one day for breakfast which was great.

The rooms are great, the food is fantastic.

The kids' meals are large portions and we always received exceptionally friendly service when feeding them. Staff was patient with the mess the toddlers made and food was served to them at child-friendly temperatures (Which was very impressive!)

The hotel staff - be it the welcoming doormen, the attentive lobby, restaurant or room-service staff, and very helpful concierges.

The front desk, concierge, guest service (baggage and door staff), restaurant, and housekeeping staff are top notch.

Restaurant staff very vigilant and great, Concierge staff fantastic to help you find where to go, and how to get there.

There are a few restaurants in the Fairmont, one of which is located outside called The Terrace.

Stayed at the Fairmont in Barcelona with my sister and had an incredible stay: 5 Star luxury accommodation with excellent facilities and restaurants of an impeccable quality and standard.

U have to go to the terrace outside to eat well, and have a lot patient to be served during weekend nights.

I was advised that none of the restaurants in the hotel would be able to accommodate 3 of us without reservations.

The room was excellent, the breakfast choice amazing with wonderful attentive staff.

When we did get into our room it was nice, clean and tidy.

All that said - the room itself was fine.

The room itself was outstanding, comfortable and clean.

Hotel is definitely nice, rooms are clean and well appointed.

but rewrote it as the hotel is very nice and Mar did offer us a better room which was nice also sometimes we all over react with service.

The room was spacious, very clean and equipped with smart home features like centrally controlled lighting, comfy mattresses, and pleasant decoration.

Don’t expect a good night’s sleep either as music from the lobby blasts into the rooms.

My husband stayed at the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I Barcelona and couldn't stop raving about how spotless the room was, how friendly the staff were and how great his overall experience was, staying at the Fairmont Barcelona.

We had a water issue in our room and the staff took care of us in relocating and doing their best to help us.

The staff was generally very competent and efficient, if a tad bit snooty at times.

When asking why we wasn’t notified about this when booking and specifically noting that we would need two cribs she couldn’t give us and answer.

Receptionist was lovely and welcoming, her manner was lovely and friendly.

By the time we got to the front desk the lady was very helpful and fast at checking us in.

Gorgeous looking hotel and very welcoming from the start.

The receptionist Mathilde was very professional and welcoming.

Otherwise, services from the staff were quite average.

For soccer (football) crazy fans its walking distance from Camp Nou - the home of the famous Barca team.

But the lady at reception Mar was very nice to recover the situation.

The check-in was done professionally and with great attention to our needs by a hotel staff named Dimitri.

Staff was friendly and check-in & out smoothly.

Special mention to Ines Medina, Sarah manager, Andres Checa, Jose Fajardo.

We have everything documented and the staff continues to be disagreeable.

Really impressed with atrium at entry and professional front desk staff.

The hotel is clean and well designed, spacious and modern with a great bar and restaurant.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable, and all the extras such as the gym, pool, and bar are amazing.

Great bar prices  didn't have time to use the pool

We were also pleased to see that prices at the bar and restaurant were reasonable for the quality of the service and food.

We ate at the bar both times and the food was fine. We are looking forward to returning to Barcelona in the future and exploring it further :)

Clean spacious room with large bathroom, giant flat screen TV, restaurant with excellent food and well stocked bar, beautiful large swimming pool and pool area with complimentary towel, workout gym, super friendly English speaking staff.

That waitress at the bar stopped me and demanded me to show me my bill.

There are two restaurants and a bar on site.

Downfall, was bar restaurant ..tolerable food.

It also has a bar where you can get something to eat if you want to go to sleep early and can't wait for the dining room to open at 7 pm.

She told me to ask at the bar and maybe they would do something.

Doors slamming and people talking/screaming keeping you awake.

Room 470 - right next to the fire escape and service elevator - so much slamming of doors all night long by housekeeping with their trolley.

The bathroom light switches are inconveniently placed inside the bathroom behind the door.

But if I pay 125€ per night, to get a room where the shower head is below my shoulders so I cannot properly shower, and I can hear my neighbours snore through the door that connects our rooms, I feel that I am overpaying.

The shower door did not close, so water went all over the bathroom floor, the aircon was not very responsive.

You will hear every late arriving guest close every door and flush every toilet.

Right before the doors closed, a front desk worker ran up to us, blocked it from closing, stood in front of us and yelled “SHUT UP”!!

We obviously went out the wrong door and never did see parking lot G, and the Google map app failed us.

Besides The possibly unique noise in my room this is a noisy hotel with slamming doors and loud people in the halls.

We knew they'd been in there because they took the key card out of the electricity activation slot by the door.

After checking out we proceeded to the door where the uniformed man asked us if we needed a taxi.

Obviously if you opened the door and the chain is attached, that also mean someone is inside and probably sleeping.

I heard knocking on our door and I was about to answer it when I heard someone enter and exit really fast after realizing we were in the room.

repeatedly knocked at our door in the morning.

Whereas most hotels have elevators where the elevator will not move until you swipe your room card, this hotel does not.

Word to the wise, there are one set of lifts for rooms up to a certain number, and another for the rest, make sure you don't get to the fourth floor and have to come back.

The Strange:-
When we checked in - we were not told which lift bank to take to our room and

The building itself is unusual as there are 2 separate wings with different lifts and you need to know which wing you are in.

As already noted, there are two banks of elevators (and then the service elevators) so make sure you get into the proper one for your room; the front desk advised us of the proper elevator bank to use so we had no issues whatsoever finding our room.

When we walked in the elevator, We were talking and began laughing.

She failed to point out simple things such as there were 2 sets of lifts and indicate the correct ones for our room.

but no where to be found.Took the cab 

- Checked In The front desk staff was persistent on GPS, even though i took a picture showing the vacant stop

- The WiFi is slow as hell

- Rooms Are stuffy 

- The Hotel layout is inconvenient, if you are near elevator could be good.

but 1 was located opposite the lift lobby, which is super noisy with people coming and going.

Vending machine only took euro coins and I almost stepped on glass just outside the elevator

We dragged our weary selves to the elevator and someone got on with us, carrying a plate of well-prepared calamari and a glass of red wine.

Oh & if you stay here don’t get on the wrong elevator because the floor is not connected.

In the morning, my parents informed me that another hotel guest and shuttle bus driver helped them--not the front desk.

From talking to other hotel guests, the Deluxe room were smaller, breakfast was extra and there was only a tea kettle in the room(no way to make coffee).

There were also a lot other guests who were shouting that the front had not been operating this service fairly to all guests and that because of that, they were missing their flights.

She was uncooperative and rude demanding in front of other guests that I was a skipper and my family needed to remove themselves from the line if they wanted me with them.

but most importantly, if anyone is okay treating their guests like this, that’s all that needs to be said.

but just look at the number of guest possibly going to the airport since after 10am, the service is every 40 minutes.

The shuttle driver made guests load their own suitcases which was awkward given the shuttle "trunk" is vertical rather than horizontal.

I sent an E-mail to the management reports the whole situation because I don’t want that to happen again with any other one , i hope they can solve this issue and train the staff how they should treat the hotel guests.

Most guests will never know they were robbed.

even though we manage to get the shuttle for our early morning flight, there were many guests that couldn't make it because the Bus is for 19 pax for a hotel with more than 100 rooms, and they offer just one bus every 30 min.

As their records would show that we were regular clients surely they could have kept the room until we arrived

As reported by other guests, no hot water available (staff made excuses about a faulty pressure valve).

Also, you don't smile sarcastically when your guest informed you about how you gave the information was differ that what maps shown.

The sad thing was they now get a negative review and 1 star from a guest who only needed a room for about 4 hours.

I asked again and she said it wasn't possible for them to call taxis that guests had to wait outside, not possible to call a taxi????

The result was a ridiculus fight to dispute the seats and, the driver, totally unprepared to treat people, with a rude behavior, defining a ridiculus rule that would privilege the transport of the guests who had luggage (???

The pool was clean and the room was modern and upkept.

The service was excellent, we arrived off a cruise earlier than expected and a room was sourced quickly to allow us to take advantage of a day in Barcelona.

Room is great and black out curtains keep room very dark and cool.

We only stayed for one night in a triple room, room was fine, nice shower, pool is nice and cool, decent amount of chairs.

But it’s convenient. Room was excellent - big and clean, ideal for our young family (booked a triple plus a cot)

We choose this hotel because they advertised handicapped rooms.

The room has minimalist and professional vibe with black and brown mixture and wooden furnished.

Easy free shuttle transfer, great staff, comfortable rooms with super shower, amazing breakfast.

The room was comfortable overall and I liked the free airport shuttle from main door to terminal 1.

The rooms are big and comfortable with king sized beds.

He made rude comments under his breath about us during check in and argued with us about whether or not he’d already said if we could leave our luggage at the desk until our room was ready.

The representative for the hotel would not give the agent her name and was very rude to the agent, until  I made myself known and told her how unprofessional she was.
