Our travels took us to many regions of Thailand and Bali, Indonesia.

It offers a more condusive area with nice restaurants (quite similar to seminyak in Bali).

Great design - Ed Tuttle who has designed many of the best Aman hotels designed this - it's walkways are similar to Amankila in Bali (my favourite hotel in the world)

but found the beach and surrounding tropical setting beautiful and on par with beaches in Australia, Bali, Hawaii and other places we have travelled to.

The Surin runs a free shuttle bus to and from the human zoo in Patong each night – this will give you more nightlife than you can possibly handle.

Most sadly, this is the loss of the two families that historically have worked on the beach in harmony with the hotel and provided things such as drinks and beach massages.

The private beach is clean, calm water, and nobody trying to sell you anything.

The property is located in lush tropical surroundings with private beach.

The location is excellent on the Surin beach next to the Amanpuri.

It was one of the very few which offer rooms which have direct access from the room onto the beach, which is what we wanted.

Absolutely beautiful resort on one of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever seen.

The Surin is a stunning hotel with amazing private beach views.

It was really nice hotel with the beach on our doorstep.

The private beach is beautiful and very relaxing.

The staff is excellent food is good and the beach is probably the best in phuket.

A second visit and this remains a great resort, on a beautiful beach, with the experience made by the exceptional staff.

So the hotel understandably build a protective wall to prevent all the future visitors of this crappy walkway boondoggle to flood beautiful Pansea Beach.

The rooms include stylish beach hats to help protect you from the sun and they even provide a nice beach bag.

Took a hotel buggy down to the entrance to stroll to Surin Beach and did a private boat trip to Phi Phi provided by the hotel.

The surroundings of the hotel, the private beach and the room were all stunning.

This hotel is stunning with its private beach and the feeling of absolute privacy of the rooms.

Quiet, secluded, private, spacious and relaxing are just a  few words that can be used to describe this location and property.

Before each service, we were welcomed with a delicious tea then taken to a private room where we could enjoy our services side by side.

Very well maintained and clean hotel resort located at a wonderful and clean beach (which is due to the location a real private beach).

From the private beach views, the incredible staff, gorgeous pool, amazing restaurants with full Thai Vegan menus, it felt like heaven on earth.

The beach offers a nice, private ambience.

The hotel is built on the hillside and you will be required to walk few steps to go to their fabulous private beach or to their pool.

It was our third stay at The Surin at private Pansea Beach.

Gorgeous private cottages with a feeling of home with private balcony facing the Sea.

Just a private, quite place, with a nicely mixed public of mostly couples and families, with views to die for from the restaurants.

The room was very private with a beautiful view of the ocean.

For example we ordered a plate of pasta, which arrived sweet- how is that possible?

Exceptional staff, beautiful hotel and rooms, great food and easy access to explore Phuket - we did a guided car tour round old town, big Buddha and Wat Chalong.

Outside of the resort there are several convenience stores if needed, and you can easily take a taxi to tons of restaurants nearby.

In my experience, the restaurants are a chapter by themselves - There is a great variety in the menu and the food is of an extremely high quality.

It was the ideal first stop on our honeymoon - complete with attentive and friendly staff, delicious food, and wonderful views.

The lunch and dinner food was also good and if you didn't want to leave the resort you could easily not do so.

The food is of the highest quality - the breakfast, a dream!

The food and drinks were delicious as well.

Breakfast was amazing, all the choices and al a cart menu, poolside cocktails and food were great.

Went for BBQ & Thai dinner, highly recommended.

We have the Loy Katong Buffet Dinner and it was exceptional Thai traditional food.

We mainly eat at the Thai restaurant which was my favourite.

Every detail from the flowers, music, set up, entertainment and food was arranged to prefection allowing us just to enjoy our day without any worry.

For a hotel with such a loyal cohort of return visitors - especially in the Christmas period - this shift had effects on goodwill and enjoyment.

All of the staff are happy and enjoy working at this resort- I rarely see this at hotels/resorts around Phuket (staff usually look burned out, or unhappy to be there).

The hotel staff are enormously smiling and very service minded.

The service is superb, and staff genuinely do all possible to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

They were alwaar extremely friendly and helpfull.

Our friends had recommended the hotel to us initially, and we’re so excited to pass our recommendation on to others. Thank you for making our stay so memorable (helping us celebrate a honeymoon and a birthday in the same stay!)

The staff at the hotel were as attentive and friendly as you would expect at a 5 star Hotel.

Personally, I am most impressed by the staff.

I wanted to especially thank: Bee, Mujalim, Charida, Beau, and her team (I forget the woman who checked us in, and the Bell men who helped with our luggage), as they went well above and beyond to provide personalized, timely, and thoughtful service and care.

Almost everywhere you have to go through stairs and there are no elevators in the resort. Overall, excellent hotel, nice attentive staff, everything (nearly) perfect :)

As others have mentioned there are a lot of stairs (not something that bothered me at all) just something to note for those who may find it difficult.

The only downside for me was the room was a little small to what I am used & lots off stairs .

So long as that continues, and you’re not daunted by stairs (I’m sure other reviews explain this in detail) then I’d strongly recommend you add The Surin to your vacation plans.

Lastly the stairs to get everywhere in the hotel is very cumbersome.

It just is part of the character that makes this place special - and by the way, you can always ask the staff for a buggy ride to bring you up a bit higher, so the stairs you need to take to your room can be reduced drastically.

Be aware there are A LOT of stairs here - if you have problems with stairs, I would not come.

The only thing is that it has lots of stairs and you might wanna choose lower ground rooms if you have kids or elders.

Many stairs so not suggested for people with moving issues,

Be warned, there are a lot of stairs to get around,

Only negative aspect I can mention is that there are some trees that loose berries at this time of the year and these fall in front of our room which made it look somehow dirty, also on the stairs to walk down to the beach.

If you book a Hillside bungalow there are probably 100 stairs.

but you need a degree of fitness to move from beach to reception as there are a lot of very steep stairs.

Would not recommend for those that need accessibility, too many stairs!

Because of the hillside location, you may need to walk quite a lot of steep stairs to reach your room though.

The hotel is built on a cliff edge and therefore a little challenging for anyone disabled as there are a lot of stairs to manage.

It is built into a steep slope and you need to be able to negotiate stairs.

The only downside was the large amount of stairs to climb to reach the room,

although if you have mobility problems or joint issues, this may not be for you as the cottages are built along the hill which means that there’s a lot of climbing up and down stairs to get anywhere.

The Surin is still the grande dame of Thai hotels that we always relish going back to.

We had a complimentary Thai massage which was also excellent.

We walked on the beach, we all had massages and the last night we ate in their Restaurant and had a lovely Thai meal.

Tasty Thai food and magnificent sunset constitute a memorable dining experience during our stay in Phuket!

We also ate in the Thai food restaurant which I can recommend likewise.

The Thai food was excellent and even for Kids there is always something on the menu.

In other Thai resorts, they usually arrange the bed, bathroom amenities, towels very well and help to organize your toiletries also on towels.

The Thai food at the Beach restaurant is some of the best you will find anywhere in Thailand.

Fantastic Easter break at The Surin Phuket, tranquil location, stunning beach front cottage, delicious Thai food at the beach restaurant, perfect level of staff service and cleanliness.

but when in Thailand we prefer Thai cuisine.

We ate food in all of the hotel restaurants as well as trying some Thai food in the local cafes / restaurants just outside the hotel gates.

The food is amazing especially the very authentic Thai food.

The food was delicious, and I highly recommend the Thai restaurant for a romantic meal.

Definitely would be back 

Oh and definitely try the spa..even

If you do not like to have a massage in the Spa there are several Thai-ladies on the beach offering massage services on your chair.

The spa was a great deal and we visited almost every other day of our visit.

We went to the spa every day and I was so happy we used the spa as it was amazing.

We also absolutely loved the spa and the child activités in the afternoon (parents need a break too from time to time!).

Of course, I had to check out the spa and I had an amazing Thai hand massage with organic oils.

This is comes from the reception staff, the housekeeping, the beach boys, the spa girls and in paticullar the staff at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We had the chance to experience a  massage at the Spa and it was fantastic.

The spa,  food, room and bathroom amenities are at top quality as last year.

The spa situated up on the mountain offers a beautiful retreat from world below and offers traditional Thai treatments.

The drinks are cheaper and the massages cheaper than the spa,

We visited the spa and had massages which were great!

the service, the food, the spa, the location, the setting, the rooms just fantastic.

Quite pity that during my stay some concierge staff and the spa team is really warm, kind and attentive.

The spa has by far the best offering in Phuket.

The animals, lush landscape, water boats through what feels like a sanctuary makes you feel like you are in Thailand or Bali with also steps to crystal blue waters.

T & L's best hotel in the world this year (Four Seasons Sayan in Bali) very similar. .

The breakfast buffet was a zoo of crazed idiots piling their plates coughing over the food pushing shoving, my 80 year old mother was terrified.

Breakfast at La Laguna was like a ‘zoo’.

We were mostly outside all day, we went for the all inclusive options to avoid the hassle.

I would also recommend getting the all-inclusive package.

We opted for the all inclusive plan and had a fabulous selection of dining options with ambiance and impeccable service.

The restaurants are all very good, we did have the all inclusive which I think is almost a requirement as prices are on the higher side if we were to have paid individually.

We debated doing the all-inclusive package.

but, when you book this hotel make sure you do the All Inclusive package.

In the end, not choosing the all inclusive remained a better economic choice.

We opted for the all-inclusive experience and went for the upgrade offered at check-in to a beach suite.

If you're considering a visit, I highly recommend opting for the all-inclusive package, as it's definitely worth every penny.

The food is 5 star for an all-inclusive resort.

One thing I would note is just thinking about opting for the inclusive offer, as meals and drinks can mount up,

The all inclusive package was definitely worth the cost.

We had the all inclusive plan and the food was amazing, from Tauro, to La Laguna, Brisas, Fuego.

The all inclusive option was outstanding and there were some amazing restaurants.

We did the all-inclusive package so we didn’t need to worry about every meal and snack, and it seemed to be worth it.

If you’re paying the all-inclusive night rate, I’m sure you won’t be pleased as well.

The all-inclusive plan is definitely the way to go.

however, so I do recommend doing the all-inclusive if you plan to stay more than a couple of nights.

We had an all inclusive package and there was no difference in service from the time we stayed before without it.

The service on the beach was amazing especially Hugo, Oasis, and Alexander!

It’s a fab resort with an amazing beach.

Unlike other resorts we have visited in the high season, it was never an issue to procure a beach chair.

The service at the beach was fantastic, and Filiberto, Herbert, and Alberto really took great care of our family!

So we thought we would give it a try to have our first Christmas on the beach there.

All the people who work at the beach shack with the paddleboards, kayaks, etc, should be fired.

but our favorite was the steakhouse in the main hotel, as well as the restaurant with rooftop bar lounge at the beach by the pool.

We traveled as a family of 4 and stayed in the beach area casitas.

We stayed in a renovated beach area casita and enjoyed the large terrace and bathroom.

The Maykana beach area is such a great concept and so much thought has been put into it.

The beach is relaxing and the staff at the kids club were amazing!

This is an incredible resort (shared with four others) on 41 acres of private beaches, mangroves, canals, bike paths, caves, etc.

Most pool pots are filled up early at the beach.

The beach is very clean, free of seaweed.

but you can price this out using restaurant menus and decide for yourself. My favorite restaurants were: Fuego and Brisas at the Fairmont, Casa Amate at the Andaz, Lunch at the Rosemont beach restaurant (the best!)

The facilities are excellent, with access to an amazing beach and a number of pools onsite.

We scheduled an ecotour boat ride which was the highlight of the trip.

Some of the highlights , on-site cenote, hobie cat, canal boat ride.

There are great perks- free paddleboards and kayaks, short guided catamaran trip, an eco tour by boat through the canals (sign up for the last 2 quickly as they fill up).

Kevin and Alejandra at braces were so enjoyable as were Paulette at La Laguna, Noe, who gave us our boat ride, Dorian and Diego, who work at the pool bar, Juan, the pool attendant, Enrique, who served us at Gaia.

Go on the boat tour, Jaun Carlo was very knowledgeable.

The boat trip through the canals at the resort is definitely something to do.

The boat driver was so nice to tell us the birds names & we got to see one of the crocodiles!!

A special shoutout to Noe, who gave us a personal boat tour to see crocodiles, birds and history of the area.

I highly recommend taking the boat ride with Miguel around the canals to learn about the property's history - it might even make you want to buy a Fairmont Residence!

Everyone on staff is incredible, especially Armando and Giovanni from valet, Monserrat at the spa, Leo at Brisas, Luis at the beach pool, and Juan Carlos our boat tour guide.

Make sure you don't skip complimentary boat service and visit the spa for the ultimate experience.

The resort offered a boat ride around the property which was so cool to experience, we went at 9:30 and it was neat to see the birds, fish, and the turtles.

Juan Carlos (boat captain) was so knowledgeable about wildlife.

The boat tour with Miquel was definitely a highlight of our trip and highly recommended, we felt like instant friends, he made us laugh, was incredibly personable and knowledgeable on helping us was to learn about the eco system  and the environment surrounding the Mayacoba property.

Be sure to book your boat tour, spa and dining early so you can experience everything the Fairmont Maykoba has to offer!

Our favorite activities were riding the bikes around the property, paddle boarding, kayaking, pontoon ride, lagoon boat ride and snorkeling.

Most of them say hi and some offer to give you a golf cart ride,

The service could not be friendlier, the little golf cart rides more fun, the rooms more spacious.

There are 3 other hotels and golf club you can walk to as well if you want to get away from the Fairmont restaurants.

It was easy to get around on the golf carts that drive around the property

I’ll start with Mario, the Bellman and Carlos golf cart driver.

The property has free bikes you can borrow and stroll around, golf carts shuttle you through the vast property, riverboat tours that show you all around, and of course a first class golf course.

Golf course is amazing and the spa at Banyan Tree is incredible.

What a beautiful property, with the luscious jungle atmosphere, the white sand beach, the golf course, and the lovely new beach club!

- Our toddler loved the pool and the golf cart transportation, the staff was very accommodating to a 2 year old.

The PGA golf Mayacoba, El Camaleon course is fabulous!

The property is so big you need to be driven in golf carts, or take a bike.

but they had golf carts running all day for easy access.

There are bicycles available everywhere and golf cars to move around the hotel.

The resort is huge, with room for a golf course, pools galore and loads of fabulous restaurants and bars.

Excellent hotel, very comfortable with beautiful landscapes and great golf course, water sports and amenities.

The ocean, the food, the people, the staff, the rooms, the pools, the golf, the bikes!!

The golf carts need to run more often and a teen area for evenings would be great.

We are not big drinkers and with 2 little kids we would have ended same or even cheaper going ala cart.

My only complaint would be that the food prices, if you're not on the all inclusive plan, were very high for the quality and quantity received.
