.we chose Matalan, and is £5 up until 10am the next morning (annoying as you have to pop over in the morning to purchase a ticket until you check out) - what they don't tell you is that there was another car park to the rear that is only £4 and allows you to leave the car there until checkout at 11am.

On arrival we had to park opposite in the Matalan car park as the hotel itself doesn't have it's own car park (except for blue badge holders)

but be there before 8 as the parking attendants are thtaere bang on 8 or you can park in matalans car park overnight for£5 which is safer.

We parked our car in the car park at the rear of the hotel 300 yards away for the duration of our stay (3 days) for only £4!

Parking space:
If you bring your car, parking space might be a bit of a problem, so be sure to get all the appropriate information beforehand.

Went to reception to check in, and was told they had an arrangement with Matalan for car parking at £5 per night.

This stay my room looked over a car park and club to the rear, the problem was the club night went on until 5 am.

The Hotel does not have its own car park,

No parking on site, there’s a council run long stay car park for 4.00 a day
Air con was a bit noisy I ended up switching it off
The shower took quite a bit of time to run hot, ,let’s put that one down to hotel not being over busy
The bed on this occasion wasn’t the best

It was cheap, just a couple of points let it down for me.

but don't bring a car as no parking at hotel.

Car parking is an issue here as they do not have any, there is an agreement with a nearby car park of £5 a night which is a bit steep, there is free parking to the front of the hotel and round the back, this is free between 6pm and 8am and will cost you around a £1 per hour to top up.

There is no dedicated car park for the hotel,

Only problem with the hotel is parking , which they offer a basic rate of £5 for a overnight stay in a local car park.

Parking opposite in the Materlan car park for a £5 fee overnight.

If I had not been using my car I would probably given five stars.

but the holiday inn would only be £3.70 for the same car park which I thought was odd.

I parked over the road in the Matalan car park which costs £5.

Parking was available for $5 per day at the Matelan car park between 2pm and 10 am only, or the NCP car park for $4 per visit.

We had to park in matalan car park and paid £5 to go on until 10am the next day.

If you have a car, check for parking, they offer some facilities

So my wife ended up at the local takeaway, Sleep was good nice and quiet lovely comfortable bed, Breakfast was the usual H In Exp  offer, filling and good quality.

Lovely comfy bed, warm shower and yummy breakfast.

but clean and comfy bed so no complaints.

It’s was as on previous occasions spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed, great shower and really nice towels.

Bed is very comfortable and you can choose pillows.

Tea and coffees, extremely comfortable beds, a TV, a office style chair, iron with board, hairdryer, lots of storage space, a wonderful shower/toilet room with a large 3 point view mirror.

Hotel clean sand tidy, comfortable bed and had a good nights sleep.

Hotel is spotless, the free breakfast is tasty and satisfying, rooms are modern, spotless, with a good shower and comfortable bed.

=) Rooms are clean and spacious and most especially the bed was comfortable.

Whilst the staff were nice and friendly, the room was small, pokey and a little tired, - reminded me of a Travelodge (which I could have got for half the price).

but they have some sort of deal going on, so at least you can park nearby.

Rooms were clean to a good standard and extra towels etc available whenever we needed them.

Absolutely outstanding budget accommodation £42 for a twin room that was spotless friendly warm comfortable and included a reasonable breakfast you absolutely cannot beat.

The room was spotlessly clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Our rooms were clean to a high standard and comfortable.

The presentation of the place was very good and the room was clean.

Room was clean and fresh and you get two pillows (hard and soft) so you can choose your own style.

The room was also quite grubby, the claimed "king-sized" bed was nothing of the sort, it was closer to a small twin if anything, and the sofa bed was truly abysmal - saggy and with springs you could feel by merely lying down on top of the duvet fully clothed.

Room very clean and good nights sleep was achieved.

The room was clean and had air con, which was needed in this weather.

Overnight stay for a wedding, great clean room, excellent breakfast great service, 3 lights out when arrived reported and fixed within an hour, too airy warm and very clean reception helpful.

We then were given another room which was also disgusting.

The room had chipped furniture, a stale fatty smell and had curtains hanging off the rail.

Gotto our room, the cot for the baby was filthy and our bathroom absolutely stunk.

I asked for vegetarian sausages for breakfast, they were hard and disgusting.

but unfortunately they only do warmed sausages, baked beans and some sloppy white stuff which is meant to be scrambled eggs, I think it was dried egg made back up with boiling water but it looked and smelt awful.

The basics were all good except for one pillow which smelt stale and awful.

I do have three points which did not please me 

1 Hotel entrance used by smokers which meant I had to pass smokers to enter the hotel.

The tap on sink is cracked and tarnished the toilet seat on a wonk  and slight smell of urine.

I stayed here for 4 nights and the first room was disgusting and hairs on the bed and they moved me and the second room was not bad when you Stay in a hotel you expect a good stay.

The scrambled eggs, beans and sausages looked disgusting and very unappetising.

The paint fumes were so strong I requested a different room as it was too strong to sleep.

So if you are a non smoker you may find it a little grim to walk in and out of the hotel through the fog of cigarette smoke.

My only gripe was to come out of the lift on to a non smoking floor with sign perfectly visible and smell smoke.

but after complaining the first day about stale sandwiches, the next day they delivered hot food although we didn't pay for that.

The croissants were so dense and stale 
and no self respecting French baker would have admitted that they were croissants.

the crossants were stale, muffins inedible, bread for toasting too thin, and no trays, so you had to walk back and forth to collect your food and drinks.

I know the hotel cant do anything imediatly to stop the practice of ill mannered smokers staying in a non smoking room and then using the room to smoke, inconsiderate scumbags.

2nd and last time I will stay here (gave it the benefit of a second chance after the first stay)

The free breakfast offers hot (actually cold) sausage scrambled eggs and beans, wafer thin bread for toast that gets incinerated in the toaster, stale cereal, coffee isn't bad though.

We were advised that is had no aircon, and the window cracked open a little,

It is considered too expensive to install airconditioning.

but every other Premier in I have stayed at seems to have AirCon.

but the hotel was like a sauna even with fans - so bad that we did not sleep at all for 2 nights.

Only thing I would say is that there was seemingly no air con in the room and it was a scorching 3 days I stayed.

One note, the TV wouldn't work with the table lamp switched on, it's too near the infra red sensor, and you can't easily move the lamp.

There aren't a great deal of sockets so using the fan while charging a phone wasn't possible and the bath was really slippery.

The fan placed in our room to replace the air con was filthy and thick with dust.

Room was extremely hot, couldn't turn on fan as it blew dust all around the room.left a day early as it was such a disgrace.

I am sure it would be much cheaper than having electric fans going all day and night.

The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning so the temperature in my room was very uncomfortable at times.

but advised there was nothing that she could do as there is no air conditioning in the hotel.

in dust, which blew into the room when you turned the fan on, this was the same in all 3 of the rooms we booked so not just ours unfortunately.

Only down side it was very hot and oly a fan and limited window opening.

I’d have given it 4 stars except the bathroom had a slightly odd smell in the morning, probably coming through the vent.

Bathroom fan very noisy and water pressure in shower poor.

It had a Harvestor reataurant attached, providing good quality breakfast and evening meal facilities.

Good facilities offered which included a good television combined with the cleanliness of the room.

Good parking facility, quiet and comfortable room, helpful staff.

Great location for travel and facilities.

however be wary of using the restaurant facility during off peak times, staff would rather finish early than serve the customer.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable, The Reception staff were friendly and very helpful, pointing out the whereabouts of local facilities.

The provision of deicing equipment  the morning after was a nice touch .

Facilities were OK, wet room needed a good clean.

The manageress at this establishment is poor, just seams to want to go home no customer service.

As far as the restaurant was concerned, we ate there on one evening and one morning, and on both occasions the service was poor, very slow, and had to ask for things numerous times, which then by the time you got them weren’t needed because you’d been waiting so long.

Sadly Beefeater meal was the worst we've ever had - poor quality, a lot of left-overs from Sunday lunch.

Cleanliness of restaurant is very poor with un-wiped tables being offered and food scattered on carpet!

I expect poor rooms at Travelodge toreflect the price

We will not be visiting this hotel again because of the poor service and standards of the adjacent restaurant.

but evening meal was very poor no rib-eye steak first night starter of potato dippers very bad looked like it had been put under a grill a couple times  a Caesar salad was ok but no cheese

Tried to order Tuna steak non available 
Changed too salmon which was good but broccoli spears that accompanied it we’re inedible various coloured tomatoes not cooked very disappointed

Pillows are verry poor, combined with the sheet resulted in a verry poor nights sleep.

We didn't mention it because there was nothing the poor lady in reception could do.

but because of noise level, poor ventilation, poor housekeeping and very unhelpful staff,  we had a very uncomfortable stay.

The associated Beefeater is also in a poor condition with most seats torn and dirty walls, again this is having a refurb soon.

people were in uproar and the poor young lady at the restaurant was in tears.

The adjacent Beefeater provided both acceptable and poor dishes for our evening meals.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, I couldn’t ask for much more.

cleaners kept my room clean whenever i requested and kept me topped up with towels and tea coffee etc.

The room was clean, all what we needed was there, and the reception assistants were happy to help and assist.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable and across its free car park there is a great little English pub which serves good-value meals upstairs    There is also a large drive-in supermarket about 200 meters away, and it is next door to the Lister Hospital.

The food was good, the room was clean and the price was decent.

The cleanliness of the room was excellent too.

But the issue was the room absolutely stank of cigarettes.

The first thing I noticed was the dirty lift and the smell!

We weren't hugely impressed with the room and bathroom, no working fan had left a damp and musty smell and the heat in the bathroom was awful.

The smell and sight made us feel physically sick.

The carpet smelled of urine, the room smelt damp and had mould spores on the net curtain and skirting board.

The one bad review I would say about the staff is there is a lady who works on reception that I found to be quite rude at times and bring a non drinker I found the smell of ‘stale booze’ quite off putting and couldn’t wait to get away from reception area and into my room to get away from the smell!

The attached restaurant, beef eater was filthy, toilets hadn't been cleaned, no toilet paper, and the staff at the restaurant were very rude and unhelpful and took an hour for food .

At dinner we noticed that the carpet was badly stained and filthy with spilt food under tables not cleaned up.

Staff are a joke one called Sharon kress is rude and stinks of alcohol it's outrageous you have staff like this her attitude towards people's is not nice I will be writhing a formal letter to head office this will not be accepted

leaving the premises you could smell cannabis in the corridor.

There was an issue with a naughty smell in the hotel and to be honest I dont think this was corrected efficiently as it went on for some days.Breakfast at the Beefeater was just mediocre at best and some of  the cutlery was dirty unfortunately .

It does have a unpleasant smell as you enter the restaurant - toilets are by the door so think that is the smell.

Various bits of crockery run out as had food items, When crockery came out it was tainted with food residue which the person, who we suspected was the restaurant manager, shifted it with his finger nail and then handed it out to waiting customers  Evening meal was better service and food was good,

My room smelled strongly of mouldy wet carpet.

Strong smell of bleach throughout the rooms.

Bed not the normal comfy Premier Inn bed,and the room smelled damp,we were told it was the drains

I stopped at this hotel for 3 nights and as a person that lives in premier inns half the week I wish they all had a Tara on the desk she was so helpful and accommodating 5 stars to tara and the hotel would definitely stop here again see you soon

As always lovely friendly staff and spotlessly clean.

I needed a hotel that was close to the Lister Hospital in North Stevenage as I was visiting a friend Thursday / Friday, who was a patient at the hospital.

Staff were very apologetic and advised contacting the company to discuss this, and we certainly did not have a good night sleep.

I want to thank the lady staff for allowing my early check-in.

Good location, excellent meals and friendly staff.

I cannot fault the hotel or it’s staff at all. I have had two absolutely lovely stays here and it has been everything I have expected for a basic bog standard hotel (and that’s what I like!!)

The staff were very helpful with my requests, the wifi worked well and there was quiet for all my activities - couldn't ask for more.

All members of staff were excellent, professional, friendly & extremely helpful , particularly at providing the additional items I required for an elderly relative  & guest.

Staff were great, efficient and welcoming, we had a ground floor room that was just right for us.

The staff are lovely, really helpful, they changed my room at my request as it had very recently been cleaned and smelled a bit of bleach, they didn't question it and happily changed it.

The restaurant seemed very much understaffed, the staff were pleasant and helpful.

receptionists Sharon and Alex are so kind, friendly and professional.

Free parking, restaurant on site, excellent reception & good rooms.

The staff did everything they could for me and I was most impressed.

Although from the outside the place doesn't look impressive, the room itself was quite big and had all the necessary facilities.

Booking was made as soon as gig was announced and rooms were cheap .

I used to be a semi-regular guest at this hotel a few years ago as it was cheap,great location for central London and very clean.

As I said, you get what you pay for and it was pretty cheap and in a central location so I would stay again - if I had to!

I would recommend this hotel if you want to be easy on the budget.

I booked this expecting a budget and basic room.

All in all, good value for a town centre budget hotel.
