We had a very tasty lunch & a good breakfast.

lovely hotel, staff all very good, breakfast very nice, the room we got is like a suite, very big large hallway , bathroom has a bath, which is rare for hotels usually only have showers, very clean ,plenty of hanging space and drawers for your clothes

Breakfast food was good, eggs cooked to order.

Restaurant has been great for early morning breakfast and has a brilliant variety of well cooked meals from swordfish with med veg to an amazing meatball pizza.

Stayed here a few times and all in all it’s quiet and breakfast is good.

Stayed at the stevenage HI and from the moment I came through the doors was impressed with the helpful staff, from karoline on front desk to the breakfast team, nothing was too much for them.

I came to Stevenage and decide to stay in Holiday Inn Stevenage.It was nice stay with friendly staff, great breakfast food.

Delicious food for my dinner and tasty breakfast in the morning with friendly Chefs.

Hotel was very clean, breakfast was very good with a selection of hot food which is not available in other hotels I have recently stayed in.

but Rajid in the restaurant and Karolina in the breakfast area and reception were absolute stars and so good with everything

The hotel is spotless and in good repair, the room I was in (room 300) was huge and well appointed.

but cars safely kept under the watchful eyes of a
Monitored camera system.

I have also noticed so many changes over the last six weeks, to include a few the vehicle parking is shocking, they now allow 50% more vehicles to park within the Hotel grounds car park than marked parking spaces, this is very awkward when paying £10 per night for vehicles that will not fit under the overflow car park height restriction barrier over the road (this has been reported several times

but you are allowed one hour on arrival and on departure to load and unload the car.

The  hotel cannot help that it only has limited parking, and their reduced rate for the nearby public car park is fair.

£10.00 per 24 hours to park in the TINY hotel car par OR park across the road in a car park that you have to walk through an underpass to get to.

but an underpass links to a public car park on other side of the road.

The only drawback was the car park is very tight and if the hotel is fill it can be a problem

Information regarding meal times, car parking and other facilities was not volunteered.

Howevever there is a car park opposite accessed via the underpath.

Arrived in a downpour to empty car park spaces.Check in friendly enough and was given a 2nd floor room ,little disappointed in room .Curtains unhooked and tv not tuned in properly.Went downstairs for a few drinks before meal and was met with a really slow service.Hotel arranged taxi into town for Indian meal .Slept okay and reasonable breakfast ,checkout was painfully slow

Going across to the car park was ridiculous and hardly any staff around at breakfast and then the waiter lied about my tea.

You get a token when you go into the car park then you can walk through an under pass to get to the hotel.

Be aware that you can only park in the hotel car park if you book an executive room - if not, you have to park over the road and pay £3.70 per day.

When you arrive there is only 10 minutes before you have to park opposite in the council car park (you get a token which the hotel front desk will swipe to reduce the charge) otherwise £100 fine awaits you, if you upgrade to executive room for £25 you can park in the hotel.

Turned up to the hotel to find we were told you cant park in the hotel car park unless you have an executive room.

Comfortable bed, and great service from all staff especially Sue in restaurant at breakfast, very pleasant, friendly and always smiling.

Standard chain hotel, nice large room with comfy bed and decent bathroom.

Room has been a lovely home away from home during my stay, very comfy bed, nice and clean and good, modern favilities.

Nice clean tidy warm spacious rooms , double bed comfy clean ,  nice power shower / bathtub.

Beds were very very comfortable and I was pleased to see that all of the unnecessary miniature toiletries had been removed (you could request if needed). .

The room that was allocated for us on the 4th floor was clean, quiet, and the bed was very comfortable.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Joseph, Bernadetta, Sandy, Charlotte, Sue and all other staff for making our stay a good one.

No problems with social distancing, clearly marked one way system and Joseph made us feel welcome and at ease and even went to find me a flavoured tonic water!

We were very well looked after, being given a table in a section off the main dining room to accommodate our family - many thanks to Joseph.

Was here for a one night stay on arrival room key wouldn’t work, given new key still not working

Would have rated this 5* had it not been for the £12 parking charge.

No breakfast included in the price and an extortionate £12 for parking

Alternative parking across from the hotel was £5 a day and every time you leave and re-enter.

Parking is limited and charged at £10 per night

Only complaint would be cost of parking at £10/night.

There's one thing that annoys me when staying at hotels and that is paying to park.

Also the one way system and parking didn't help.

Paid for one night to park and have asked a friend if I can park outside her house for the duration of my stay.

I was lucky someone left when I was parking at the drop off area to check-in.

Only gripe I have is being charged £10 for parking onsite, it should really be free as it is on hotel grounds.

I stayed for 5 nights for business training, the service was friendly, the food was tasty and the rooms were clean and tidy.

Stayed here with two friends, had a lovely room with 3 single beds (quite a rare find as it's never easy finding a room for 3) Room was very clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay.

The room itself was clean, tidy and very spacious with a walkway into the room with wardrobe, drawers, kettle and safe before turning right past the bathroom and into where the bed and desk were.

Rooms are always well cleaned and maintained.

Lovely room which was spotlessly clean and smelt lovely.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast and evening meal were probably the best we'd had in a H.I.

So my wife ended up at the local takeaway, Sleep was good nice and quiet lovely comfortable bed, Breakfast was the usual H In Exp  offer, filling and good quality.

So basically we had our breakfast in stages as nothing was ready together.

All of the staff, front desk, at breakfast and housekeeping were friendly and cheerful.

If you were running late there were takeaway boxes available for breakfast on the go.

This was a really good room

The staff were really helpful

The breakfast was excellent

However the evening meal choices were extremely limited.

but the breakfast here was lovely and hot, plenty of choice.

Absolutely outstanding budget accommodation £42 for a twin room that was spotless friendly warm comfortable and included a reasonable breakfast you absolutely cannot beat.

Breakfast buffet:ample choice of continental-cereals , croissants, fruit etc and hot food inc bacon, scrambled eggs sausages and beans along with bread for toast and jams etc - foods replenished throughout service.

Despite Covid regulations,  breakfast was spot on.

They even remembered my breakfast order every morning with-out asking, i stay in hotels for work alot and this far the best for service I’ve received.

.we chose Matalan, and is £5 up until 10am the next morning (annoying as you have to pop over in the morning to purchase a ticket until you check out) - what they don't tell you is that there was another car park to the rear that is only £4 and allows you to leave the car there until checkout at 11am.

On arrival we had to park opposite in the Matalan car park as the hotel itself doesn't have it's own car park (except for blue badge holders)

but be there before 8 as the parking attendants are thtaere bang on 8 or you can park in matalans car park overnight for£5 which is safer.

We parked our car in the car park at the rear of the hotel 300 yards away for the duration of our stay (3 days) for only £4!

If you bring your car, parking space might be a bit of a problem, so be sure to get all the appropriate information beforehand.

Went to reception to check in, and was told they had an arrangement with Matalan for car parking at £5 per night.

This stay my room looked over a car park and club to the rear, the problem was the club night went on until 5 am.

Air con was a bit noisy I ended up switching it off
The shower took quite a bit of time to run hot, ,let’s put that one down to hotel not being over busy

It was cheap, just a couple of points let it down for me.

but don't bring a car as no parking at hotel.

Car parking is an issue here as they do not have any, there is an agreement with a nearby car park of £5 a night which is a bit steep, there is free parking to the front of the hotel and round the back, this is free between 6pm and 8am and will cost you around a £1 per hour to top up.

There is no dedicated car park for the hotel,

Only problem with the hotel is parking , which they offer a basic rate of £5 for a overnight stay in a local car park.

Parking opposite in the Materlan car park for a £5 fee overnight.

If I had not been using my car I would probably given five stars.

but the holiday inn would only be £3.70 for the same car park which I thought was odd.

It’s was as on previous occasions spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed, great shower and really nice towels.

Bed is very comfortable and you can choose pillows.

Tea and coffees, extremely comfortable beds, a TV, a office style chair, iron with board, hairdryer, lots of storage space, a wonderful shower/toilet room with a large 3 point view mirror.

Hotel clean sand tidy, comfortable bed and had a good nights sleep.

Hotel is spotless, the free breakfast is tasty and satisfying, rooms are modern, spotless, with a good shower and comfortable bed.

Whilst the staff were nice and friendly, the room was small, pokey and a little tired, - reminded me of a Travelodge (which I could have got for half the price).

Parking was not clear on website and included a extra charge for an overnight stay.

Parking annoyed me - there is nowhere to stop to unload, and a huge sign on the wall at the front door says parking is chargable at either the NCP up the road or the Matallan opposite. .

but they have some sort of deal going on, so at least you can park nearby.

The room was spotlessly clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Our rooms were clean to a high standard and comfortable.

The presentation of the place was very good and the room was clean.

Room was clean and fresh and you get two pillows (hard and soft) so you can choose your own style.

The room was also quite grubby, the claimed "king-sized" bed was nothing of the sort, it was closer to a small twin if anything, and the sofa bed was truly abysmal - saggy and with springs you could feel by merely lying down on top of the duvet fully clothed.

Room very clean and good nights sleep was achieved.

The room was clean and had air con, which was needed in this weather.

Overnight stay for a wedding, great clean room, excellent breakfast great service, 3 lights out when arrived reported and fixed within an hour, too airy warm and very clean reception helpful.

We then were given another room which was also disgusting.

The room had chipped furniture, a stale fatty smell and had curtains hanging off the rail.

Gotto our room, the cot for the baby was filthy and our bathroom absolutely stunk.

I asked for vegetarian sausages for breakfast, they were hard and disgusting.

but unfortunately they only do warmed sausages, baked beans and some sloppy white stuff which is meant to be scrambled eggs, I think it was dried egg made back up with boiling water but it looked and smelt awful.

The basics were all good except for one pillow which smelt stale and awful.

I do have three points which did not please me 

1 Hotel entrance used by smokers which meant I had to pass smokers to enter the hotel.

The tap on sink is cracked and tarnished the toilet seat on a wonk  and slight smell of urine.

I stayed here for 4 nights and the first room was disgusting and hairs on the bed and they moved me and the second room was not bad when you Stay in a hotel you expect a good stay.

The scrambled eggs, beans and sausages looked disgusting and very unappetising.

The paint fumes were so strong I requested a different room as it was too strong to sleep.

So if you are a non smoker you may find it a little grim to walk in and out of the hotel through the fog of cigarette smoke.

My only gripe was to come out of the lift on to a non smoking floor with sign perfectly visible and smell smoke.

but after complaining the first day about stale sandwiches, the next day they delivered hot food although we didn't pay for that.

The croissants were so dense and stale 
and no self respecting French baker would have admitted that they were croissants.

the crossants were stale, muffins inedible, bread for toasting too thin, and no trays, so you had to walk back and forth to collect your food and drinks.

I know the hotel cant do anything imediatly to stop the practice of ill mannered smokers staying in a non smoking room and then using the room to smoke, inconsiderate scumbags.

2nd and last time I will stay here (gave it the benefit of a second chance after the first stay)

The free breakfast offers hot (actually cold) sausage scrambled eggs and beans, wafer thin bread for toast that gets incinerated in the toaster, stale cereal, coffee isn't bad though.

but given that it is in the listed part of the building we knew there wouldn’t be aircon.

Poor first impression when on arrival after a FIVE hour journey you’re told to ‘park in an electric vehicle space for now, and maybe a normal space will be available later, you need to keep checking’;
Our room was like a sauna - and this was days after the ‘heat hysteria’ of earlier in the week, with only one sad (broken) fan; no bathroom extractor fan (so it quickly became a steam room); not a single hook in the bathroom to hang damp towels from either and it seemed access to every electric socket required moving a piece of furniture first.

…Went to stay over last Friday …Didn’t sleep all night as the room is to hot and there is no air conditioning and the fan didn’t do the job and there is no fan in bathroom

but book directly usually premium rooms to avoid exactly what happened here: a room right above the kitchen with three A/C vents right outside, and a window with a “non see through glass “ !!

the rooms are extremely hot and there is no thermostat so extremely hot, or DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL.

Lucky i found a fan and had that going all night.

Radiator in bathroom was turned off, so room was cold.

but the hotel either needs to extend the window opening range, or install air-con, as the rooms were far too hot!

even though it was night-time in september, we had to constantly keep the window open as the room was hot and stuffy (window would only open a few cm).

It is all let down by the rooms being incredibly hot as there is no air con.

The temperature in the room fluctuates, early in the evening room quite chilly, in the middle of the night boiling hot without us touching the thermostat.

The fact that the overhead bedside lightbulb and TV pull-out arm remained broken throughout our two night stay was of less concern than the defective toilet cistern we reported after our first night

But so many times there is an "unfortunately" in this case the radiators in the room were constantly making a noise and with no option to turn them off we had a poor nights sleep.

I originally got put in a room close to the kitchen extractor fans - I'm a really light sleeper so I asked to swap rooms.

My initial room was hot and noisy as near various fans.

although it still lacked air conditioning.

Inside the room was really hot, no air con, they just provide you a fan which is not enough.

No air con in rooms which in peak of summer was a little uncomfortable.

Breakfast was excelent, loads to choose from.

Breakfast was self service and also hot and tasty.

but the staff were friendly and breakfast was good (in fact it was the breakfast & especially the staff manning the breakfast room that saved this from being a two star review).
