Breakfasts are of course up the usual P standard with wonderful fresh coffee, OJ and a great selection of cakes, hams, cheeses and of course you can order hot food

The breakfast layout is lovely with both hot and cold choices.

It is time for a massive revamping (staff attitude - except front desk), overall layout of common areas, breakfast, rooms, well everything really. ).

Good breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms.

Safeguards for Covid had been taken meticulously, including individual tongs at your breakfast table, to help you select your choice from the buffet table.

Service was very good and the breakfast the following morning was excellent and the best we had encountered in the many hotels we had visited of late.

but made us feel welcome and provided ample Tapas.

The breakfast was a better experience, with an extensive and high-quality spread, which we came to realize was a typical Parador breakfast.

We went to reception and asked if there was any A/C and they replied only the fan was working.

Guests with mobility issues should note that access to the building is via a flight of stairs and it may be wise to request a room on the ground-floor (off the central covered patio) as there is no lift to the upper-floors. Given that this is a converted historical mansion, rooms are not a standard size or shape so it's something of a lottery,

Found it hard to believe that when we requested a pot of coffee mid afternoon, we were told no, it was a cup only, no pots of coffee.

It was the only Parador out of 6 we stayed at on this trip where we were not asked what brand of gin we wanted, and our gi and tonics were brought already mixed.

I called the Parador before going there and asked about parking.

Having seen other photos perhaps we should have asked for a different room.

Our interaction with the desk clerk when we asked about the possibility of a room change fell into this category: not particularly rude or dismissive,

although let down by twin rather than double room requested.

And even if you requested a double room, they may put you in a twin without even letting you know in advance, as it happened to us.

When we arrived the desk clerk asked if we had a car and when we said "No" he was relieved.

Following street signs was impossible and signs to the parador could disappear in a flash when trying to deal with traffic and narrow streets.

When the waitress saw us she rolled her eyes and proceeded to remove all the crockery and cutlery from the table.

The notice didn't say what times the parades were being held.

Follow instead the blue sign, circuiting the outside of the city walls to “aparciamento” which is street parking near the Parador.

We had some trouble finding this Parador as the signs to it indicated "no entry" - just ignore this and drive into the traffic free square to drop off bags and then take advantage of the plentiful on street parking.

The signs pointing to the parador  comming from main road Albacete are not sufficient.

The parador is situated on the south eastern side of this medieval town, just follow the general signs for the hotels, there is only one road that leads there, its partly cobbled by the outer walls, and you'll end up in a public parking area.

The only quibble we had was that the signs to the parador were almost non existent so we had to try a couple of times to find the right road.

He insisted to remove the car, otherwise they can't guarantee that police won't give me a fine.

After many circuits of the narrow streets of the medieval part of the town, we ignored a No Entry sign and drove across a pedestrianised square to arrive outside the front door of the parador.

there is only a small sign which is easy to miss.

but unless you get within 40 feet  by walking into the square you won't see the small sign  by the entrance.

Not easy to find first time by car as signs are poor , very easy once sorted .

Unfortunately there was no warning on the website that there were major building works in the square in front of the parador and some of the surrounding roads, which made for a lot of noise.

Generally as one drives around Spain there will be signs for the nearest parador starting at about 50 kms.

Their is no air conditioning so you have to open the window and church bells right out side ring LOUDLY every 15 minutes   24/7.

Dated bathroom, old (very old) mattress (we could not sleep for 3 nights), unefficient air con so we had to leave our windows opened with dozens of flies coming in as a result.

The window was very small, so there is not a lot of day light in the room.

but opening the window solves that issue.

The only issue for me was that my bedroom window was within a few feet of a bar where revilers made a great deal of noise all night long.

but with windows closed not as loud in the room.

However,  both windows were completely covered with net curtains, to prevent being overlooked across small internal courtyards.

however as it  was an inside room with no windows.

but powerful look, due to the small and barred windows on the first floor making it look somewhat like a prison (but that was the style of the time), but as soon as you enter the patio (now covered by glass roof), it immediately feels more friendly.

but it had poor light -only a prtty small window to an inner patio.

however, perhaps due to the side of the building we were on, we did not open our windows because there were pigeons just outside on the ledge.

We had a room on the first floor - fit for a princess -although in keeping with its period windows are very small.

When we entered the room there was an overwhelming fragrance that did not dissipate despite opening up the windows and door to air the place out.

The breakfast is good and varied, the breakfast room, the lobby, the restaurant and the bar are austerely furnished, without a trace of homeliness or cozyness.

I paid only 32 euros for one night, plus a good breakfast included in the price, taking advantage of a good offer at this 4-star hotel.

We booked room only and went out for breakfast, there are many tasty options nearby.

Lovely evening meal on our first night it was a shame that the breakfasts weren’t so good - sausage decidedly undercooked.

The buffet is well stocked and I could not even fault it.

Breakfast was very large with coffee/tea, fruits, eggs, breads and rolls, hams and sausages which you could cut yourself, juices, tomatoes, etc.

This is a nice modern hotel,very adequate bedroom/bathroom, breakfast had a good selection of bread, fruit, cereals and cooked food.

However, be aware that the rooms facing the road outside were and probably always are very noisy.

The other issue was that the rooms where a little noisy at times.

Only some noise during daytime when the cleaning women are discussing loudly in the reception that You can hear in on the first floor.

However, stay was marred when we suffered at night from the noise of rowdy youths shouting alloud and quarrelling late at night.

Unless you want to stay awake all night avoid this Hotel.

This meant that for the 2 nights that we stayed there we were kept awake until 5 a.m. from people outside the night club which is nearby,

The only downside was the noise from the street.

This hotel would be a solid 4 stars if the wifi were better and if our room had not been over the dining room dumb waiter which made noise until wee hours of the night.

Shouting; laughing etc etc - it is so unfortunate that this spoils everyone's night sleep & perhaps will eventually destroy the tourist trade, certainly at this Hotel.

but quieter, isolated from street noise (but not from the noise from the adjacent rooms!!

But biggest problem was noise from nearby venues, struggled to get to sleep first night then kept awake most of second night.

Noise was terrible until nearly midnight.

Rooms are poorly sound proofed, doubt I would have slept was i not exhausted.

I visited in January when the hotel was very quiet and the bar was closed, this did not harm my experience at all though.

It was noisy until about 02.30 from local revellers as well as the automated gate opening & closing.

The only thing is that if you have a room overlooking this, it will be quite noisy late into the evening.

but maybe wouldn't be so great if you wanted a quiet night.

Our activity programme in the local sierras and countryside precluded us availing ourselves of breakfast in the palacio other than our last morning.

The selection and service at breakfast topped those offered at hotels with a higher star-ranking.

Staying in a beautiful 16th palace with really great friendly service, a lovely breakfast.

She also prepared our delicious breakfasts each morning - a feast of local meats, cheeses, pastries, and fruit plus eggs cooked any way you want them. For about $140 a night (current rate) Palacio de la Rambla is a steal - very highly recommended (although a part of me would rather both the hotel and the city remained hidden to non Spanish tourists as it (mostly) is now.  )

Also, breakfast which was included, was very good.

The staff are extremely helpful and the breakfast was excellent - fresh orange juice, delicious coffee, a very good buffet and eggs to order.

but if you like historic houses and a traditional vibe then stay here, you can't beat it for value.The breakfast was good and eggs were cooked to order if required.

Rosa greeted us on arrival, prepared breakfast and was there for our departure.

The main problem I had was the heat in the room.

The only complaint is that in the heat of the summer, the rooms need fans.

The only drawback to our winter stay was the heat being turned off around 11 p.m. and back on at 8:30 a.m.

Pull up on the pavement in front of the large wooden door and then walk around the corner to ring the hotel bell, one of the staff will come and open the door to the garage and more importantly will direct your parking in this tight space.

The hotel has limited parking on site, best for small cars at around EUR 10 per day.

As previous reviewers have noted, you sometimes get a 'bad water' smell from the bathroom.

.but still the tiny scent of decaying decadence remained bittersweet.

It smelled rather musty and to enter our room we had to walk through a shared living room with the room next to us.

but expected in these kind of properties everywhere in Europe - also a slight musty smell that you get used to).

The special atmosphere has one negative aspect: our room smelled mouldy and it didn't help to keep the windows open five days and nights in a row.

The breakfast, served from 9:30-10:30, was excellent.

The breakfast is the one reason to stay here, aside from wanting to support historic small hotels in general.

I can only endorse all the other praise for this hotel: historic building, comfortable and characterful rooms, outstanding breakfast and charming hosts.

Let's start with the best part - the breakfast with locally sourced ham, cheese, etc.

But, the highlight of the staying is the breakfast!

The included breakfast was excellent with a large selection of home made goodies.

The breakfast is served by candle light in a wine cellar - Jorge explains the local specialties he has laid out for the buffet breakfast - the red pepper jam is unusually delicious as well as the meats, breads, strawberries, figs, pastry and brownies (yes, brownies for breakfast!).

Our stay was quiet, our breakfast tasty, and the room amenities classy.

Rooms are very small, barely 1 meter from the edge of the bed to each wall.

Partly because it had thick stone walls and no windows and partly because it is only a small establishment.

The one-hour window means that you have to be serious about making it to the table in that time, and we did structure our morning around that.

but there were no windows to open in order to air it out.

Our room had no windows just a large skylight, not for the claustrophobic.

The breakfast buffet was extensive with a good variety all run by a lovely lady during our stay.

The breakfast buffet was also substantial.

Dinner was OK – we had an egg & mushroom starter which was nice & a tuna steak for main which was dry.

The food was delicious and beautiful, and they prepared special dietary limitations dishes for me that were just as delicious and just as beautifully presented.

Same for the breakfast, at 5min , you will be at cafe Knovas and get a great one sitting in terrace and for one third of the price they charge in the hotel.
