Hotel was very clean and quiet within walking distance of down town, beautiful view of bay and boats.

The view of the waterfront was fantastic from the 4th floor!

When reserving a room ask for a room in the high rise section of the hotel on an upper floor with a bay view, views are very nice.

BUt, the shops are incredible, great food, both the bay and the ocean are right there.

We enjoyed our weekend stay on the river front room with the hot tub!

We didn't care for the smell of the room or the grab and go breakfast (COVID-19 restrictions).

and was a weird smell through out the hotel.

You may smoke outside - they have purchsed a newer place container where you can safely put your smoking material.

I paid over $220 for a tiny room with a King bed and a view of a giant pile of dirt and a rotting ship.

Broken drain pipe out one window and scaffolding out the other window which was also broken.

Our bed was hard as a rock/pillows were tiny, checked us in a hour late, dogs barking through the night and other noise could be heard through paper thin walls, and the breakfast was stale.

People sensitive to mildew and mold should take note as the coffee tastes mildewy, you smell it in the air conditioners, and the indoor pool/jacuzzi doesn't help.

Spoke with Lizzie and made my reservation late at night after my original reservation at a different hotel proved the room to be unsatisfactory due to heavy odor of pets.

Our room was musty smelling, the bed uncomfortable and not fresh smelling.

We will write to Hilton management also, would be interesting to know if the Hilton policy of customer service has changed.

Hopefully management can take some notes and make the minor upgrades.

Management needs to address the black mold growing around the shower fixtures and insert.

The manager of the Astoria Hampton should not be in the hospitality industry.

I think corporate Hilton needs to change their motto if Managers are not going to follow it.

Worst Hampton experience in a long, long time. If you are the manager, you really should !)

Staff including the manager did nothing to resolve the issues.

When the manager did arrive, it was only for one guest.

Manager has not returned three phone calls.

The night manager, I believe William was so great as I rolled in tired and in a hurry!

However, my last encounter with the management at this hotel was horrible.

It took 2 days to get a manager to confirm that it was in their safe.

But front desk and management not so much.

At checkout, we asked the manager for a refund

Additionally, we were treated rudely at checkout and after writing about the incident in their survey, the manager never even called to apologize.

The management informed me that the paying customers will get their request before a Diamond member -  business reasons.

but the staff and management are definitely having some issues, and rates are high.

Then why was I told we would have that? Agent supposedly went and ask the Manager if it would be OK to give us what we were told we would get, came back and said:  "No, not with the discount you got."

After the other parties had checked in, I was again told our room would be ready "in 20 minutes".

Light bulbs didn't match color, dead bulb on balcony, AC made a loud noise.

All day and night the seals barked, loud!

There was some sort of persistent mechanical humming noise that is in the wall next to the bed (between the bed and the jacuzzi) that is seriously loud.

Like Pier 39 in San Francisco this is a sea lion hangout which can be rather loud for some folks apparently – at reception they will supply you with ear plugs if you need them.

Issue one:  Customer service rep told me on the phone that Hampton would honor the lower 3rd party price. Nope.

At times the sealions won’t shut the heck up & are loud AF…hence the need for earplugs, check with the front desk.

Wonderful views of the Columbia River, the abundant sea lions were a bit loud so couldn't leave windows open at night.

And OMG because we went through 3rd party , could do nothing to change our room .

Word of caution:  if you are a very light sleeper then don't get a room on the back harbor facing side of the hotel because the sea lions are loud 24/7.

It wasn't too loud for me and I never heard them with the doors and windows closed.

There was a mixup in the reservation caused by a third party booking,

but it was certainly not loud enough to be an irritation.

They warned us that the sea lions are very loud and they had ear plugs if needed, you could hear them only when the door was opened so that's for the heads up.

They can get pretty loud if windows are open

Some people complain about them, and the hotel provides ear plugs in case they are too loud.

The town trolley makes a stop along the Riverwalk path right behind the hotel.

The walking path on the river side of the hotel is a great touch.

Walking path waterside and walking across the wooden bridge to Rogue Brewery was an unexpected convenience!!

On the back side of the hotel is a running/walking path along the water.

A very nice walking path goes right by the hotel as well as a trolley on weekends.

The hotel is convenient to the 6.4 mi walking path and Rogue public house is a solid choice for dinner—about 100 yd walk.

We happened to be in town the same day that two cruise ships had docked here.

Got to watch all the ship traffic up and down the river.

The sky was blue, the water smooth, and we could see 4 cargo ships anchored in the Columbia River waiting to go pick up a load.

An extra thrill is the view of the busy Columbia River with huge ships (that have departed from ports around the world) and are heading toward Longview and Portland.

The scenery at night is nice as there are some docks and you have the Columbia river and they will anchor ships in front of the hotel

Ships were moored out in the river and it was fun to see them swing on their anchor chains as the tide changed.

The rooms have balconies that are perfect to sit and watch the ships go by.

Enjoyed watching the huge ships head toward the Pacific or up the Columbia River.

A pleasure to watch the sunset, ships passing by and listening to the balking sea lions resting on the pier.

Watching the ships are great on rainy days or drinking coffee on the balcony in the am.

The view is beautiful and it was interesting to see the huge ships in the river in the view from the room.

It was big enough for the two of us, drinking a glass watching the ships go by.

Get a river view room for a view of the ships passing by on the Columbia River and the sunset over the river.

Also, a great film clip on our military planes taking off and landing on our ships.

The room was up to date and there was a small balcony off our room that gave us a great view of the river and of all the large cargo ships anchored all up and down the Columbia.

You get a beautiful view of the ships, the river and can even hear the sea lions!

Spectacular views of the Colombia river and its ships and boats, water fowl and sea lions.

The views from this hotel are of the Columbia River and the big ships going about their business.

Since we had booked a room with a balcony on the riverside we enjoyed watching the ships swing on their anchorings while a heron fished for a meal.

It is located right under the fascinating Astoria-Megler Bridge.

Perfectly located in the heart of Astoria on the beautiful banks of the Columbia River, and dramatically situated under the impressive Astoria-Megler bridge to Washington.

a king size bed separated from the siting room/window by the bathroom wall which made it possible for one of us to get some sleep while the other was sitting in the living space either using a computer, watching tv or enjoying the fireplace and/or window views of the river and the Astoria-Megler Bridge.

Of the 26 Holiday Inns Express that I've stayed at (yes, I like them), this one is the best: riverfront views of the Astoria-Megler Bridge as it passes overhead across the wide mouth of the Columbia, a short walk or trolley ride to downtown, across the street from the world famous Pig'n'Pancake, big rooms with fireplaces.

Sitting right at the base of the Astoria-Megler bridge (expansion underway 2016) the views are mesmerizing.

It has great views of the Astoria-Megler bridge and the Columbia River.

The famous, picturesque Astoria-Megler bridge is in the "back yard," and photo ops abound right from your room window.

Stay on the river side with a fireplace and enjoy a beautiful view of the Astoria Megler Bridge as the sun sets.

Located at the south end of town next to the Astoria-Megler bridge with a 4 mile walking path directly in back of the property.

Watching the roaring Columbia river, the boats battling up the river and, the handsome Astoria-Megler Bridge.

It is located almost at the foot of the Astoria-Megler Bridge which provided us with a terrific view out of our window.

Our room was very clean and had a wonderful view of the Astoria-Megler Bridge.

The children pretty much lived in the pool during our whole visit, which I enjoyed because there's a great view from the pool (and our room) of the Columbia and the Astoria-Megler bridge.

Ours looked out under the awesome Astoria-Megler Bridge that fords the mighty Columbia River connecting Oregon and Washington State.

Very attractive large room with good bed, very nice breakfast array, lovely lobby and breakfast area, terrific location under the Astoria-Megler Bridge and right on the waterfront path (with bicycles for guests too), a daily posting of ships coming in or going out on the Columbia River, and very friendly and helpful front desk staff who acted as concierges as well.

A fabulously located hotel, almost directly below the 4.2 mile Astoria-Megler Bridge, and right on the edge of the Columbia River.

*Our room had a smokin' view of the Astoria-Megler Bridge, so that was a bonus. *

Overall, the hotel knew who the real star was - the view of the stunning Astoria-Megler bridge sitting on the equally stunning river.

The king size bed is the most comfortable any hotel offers, thus no sore hips as it is soft and supportive.

Extremely clean, quiet,  the most comfortable bed and linens, great water pressure, gorgeous view of the Columbia River, lots to select at breakfast, including omelets, sausages,  fabulous cinnamon rolls, and good coffee.

The beds are so comfortable, and I know that I will always get a good night sleep.

The bed was very comfortable, bathroom big enough and the littke fridge/microwave/sink/cabinet area was perfect for a 2-night stay.

The room was very large, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern.

Room was loaded with amenities, good furniture, comfortable bed, 2 TVs, gas fireplace, easy decor and good lighting for reading.

Room was very clean, bed comfortable and the room was big so the bed was well away from the air con unit so it didn,t annoy us at night,

Get used to taking the stairs as the elevator is painfully slow and monopolized by the cleaning crew.

It has only one slow elevator so allow yourself some time.

There is only one elevator resulting in slow service.

The ugly:  Only one slow elevator serves this four floor hotel.

The only negative thing about the hotel was the elevator,  it was very slow.

Only 1 elevator and count on weekends being crowded.

We think there might be one stuck in the elevator

The have a large size elevator and on the 2nd and 4th floor there are ice machines and vending machines for drinks and snack food.

The only concern was that there was only one elevator and it was rather slow and always full.

Four floors are serviced by one elevator.

Slow elevator in the center of the building, and stairs at each end.

I heard numerous other guests complain about the elevator.

My only complaint and the reason for only giving it a 4 is that there is only 1 elevator and as a result it takes quite a while to move luggage to and from the room.

As another reviewer noted, the elevator appears to be tiny,

We stayed in the river view king suite, clean room, good amenities such as microwave, fridge, fireplace, bath tub, 2 televisions by the couch and bed, and the view of the bridge and Columbia river is great.
