The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean!

The room was clean and the bed soooo comfortable (if its too hard my arthritic hip tells me about it).

The room smelled like old cigarettes and I don’t know what else.

Complaine to front office.Was much better, day 2.Lots of smoke because of fires, so we wre not able to donormal events.

We didn't care for the smell of the room or the grab and go breakfast (COVID-19 restrictions).

and was a weird smell through out the hotel.

You may smoke outside - they have purchsed a newer place container where you can safely put your smoking material.

I paid over $220 for a tiny room with a King bed and a view of a giant pile of dirt and a rotting ship.

Broken drain pipe out one window and scaffolding out the other window which was also broken.

People sensitive to mildew and mold should take note as the coffee tastes mildewy, you smell it in the air conditioners, and the indoor pool/jacuzzi doesn't help.

Our bed was hard as a rock/pillows were tiny, checked us in a hour late, dogs barking through the night and other noise could be heard through paper thin walls, and the breakfast was stale.

Spoke with Lizzie and made my reservation late at night after my original reservation at a different hotel proved the room to be unsatisfactory due to heavy odor of pets.

Our room was musty smelling, the bed uncomfortable and not fresh smelling.

We will write to Hilton management also, would be interesting to know if the Hilton policy of customer service has changed.

Hopefully management can take some notes and make the minor upgrades.

Management needs to address the black mold growing around the shower fixtures and insert.

The manager of the Astoria Hampton should not be in the hospitality industry.

I think corporate Hilton needs to change their motto if Managers are not going to follow it.

Staff including the manager did nothing to resolve the issues.

When the manager did arrive, it was only for one guest.

Manager has not returned three phone calls.

The night manager, I believe William was so great as I rolled in tired and in a hurry!

However, my last encounter with the management at this hotel was horrible.

It took 2 days to get a manager to confirm that it was in their safe.

But front desk and management not so much.

At checkout, we asked the manager for a refund

Additionally, we were treated rudely at checkout and after writing about the incident in their survey, the manager never even called to apologize.

The management informed me that the paying customers will get their request before a Diamond member -  business reasons.

but the staff and management are definitely having some issues, and rates are high.

Then why was I told we would have that? Agent supposedly went and ask the Manager if it would be OK to give us what we were told we would get, came back and said:  "No, not with the discount you got."

A man who identified himself as the manager, instead of apologizing, made a litany of excuses and went so far as to suggest that we may have been the responsible party.

After the other parties had checked in, I was again told our room would be ready "in 20 minutes".

Light bulbs didn't match color, dead bulb on balcony, AC made a loud noise.

All day and night the seals barked, loud!

There was some sort of persistent mechanical humming noise that is in the wall next to the bed (between the bed and the jacuzzi) that is seriously loud.

Like Pier 39 in San Francisco this is a sea lion hangout which can be rather loud for some folks apparently – at reception they will supply you with ear plugs if you need them.

Issue one:  Customer service rep told me on the phone that Hampton would honor the lower 3rd party price. Nope.

At times the sealions won’t shut the heck up & are loud AF…hence the need for earplugs, check with the front desk.

Wonderful views of the Columbia River, the abundant sea lions were a bit loud so couldn't leave windows open at night.

And OMG because we went through 3rd party , could do nothing to change our room .

Word of caution:  if you are a very light sleeper then don't get a room on the back harbor facing side of the hotel because the sea lions are loud 24/7.

It wasn't too loud for me and I never heard them with the doors and windows closed.

There was a mixup in the reservation caused by a third party booking,

but it was certainly not loud enough to be an irritation.

They warned us that the sea lions are very loud and they had ear plugs if needed, you could hear them only when the door was opened so that's for the heads up.

They can get pretty loud if windows are open

Some people complain about them, and the hotel provides ear plugs in case they are too loud.

The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good.

The rooms are tired and shabby, mold in the bathroom and stains on the carpet and furniture.

The carpet was stained so bad we thought maybe it might be part of the pattern.

There are a few updated items in a room, to help mask the cracks on the wall, water stains, dirty carpet, moldy showers, paper thin walls, etc.

The counter top in our room is sagging and the carpets are rough.

but neglected to change the 50yr old carpet.

The carpet in our suite was heavily stained and completely worn out.

The room had mold on the bathroom tile, stains on the carpet, torn drapes.

The carpet needed to be replaced, the mirrors were very outdated, and the paint in the bathroom was too thin and they need to repaint it.

but all of the furniture was new--heck, the chairs were even comfortable to sit in not just something to fill space--and though the carpet had not been replaced, it was in great shape, and clean as a whistle, as was the bathroom.

Room we had was very stained on the carpet,  smelled, ran out of Kleenex, room wasn't cleaned after the first night.

The furniture is mid aged, carpets in good shape.

We got a dog friendly room and ya there are stains on the carpet,

That’s fine- old carpet, old furniture- not ideal

The stains on the carpet were a reflection of pet friendly.

The amenities were terrific although the carpet could do with replacing

but room was dated and bathroom needs definite update, plus why does no one offer a shower cap.

but again, was outdated and not very clean.

When you arrive, it doesn't make much of an impression because you enter the parking lot which is adjoined to an industrial area filled with unsightly vehicles.

It is located in an industrial part of Astoria and is very dated on the exterior.

The inside was very rustic and full of antiques or actually items made to look antique.

I had read that the rooms were very dated so I called the front desk and asked if any had been updated.

None of the high-pitched sycophantic vibe that seems to be the norm these days.

The rooms are dirty, old, and not well apportioned.

The industrial location behind makes for an odd approach, and the exterior needs a facelift,

The second night we had people talking loudly, we thought they were next door. No.

We had to buy a fly swatter because of a nasty drain outside our door - very unpleasant.

The screen door leading out to the balcony was propped up next to the slider.

We were on the river and it was low tide, we couldn't open our patio door because it smelled of dead fish and a nearby cruise ships engine noise .

The door was hanging off its hinges, not repaired

The building next door is rotting on the water side and is uninhabited.

You need leave the bathroom door open to warm the room.

But then, when we opened the door to our room - we were IN the harbor!

The building next door is fading into the sunset, and there's a lot of fishing gear around in piles,

The door to the room has a gap all along the bottom that passes noise into the room, including the voices of people getting ice.

Try a cement barrier in between columns/ in front of parked cars and doors to hotel rooms.

To their credit, we got a different room right next door.

but it still a work in progress.Our room- The sliding door and window didn't have screens in them and the homemade curtain didn't go all the way across.

The first night we had an issue with wind loudly coming through our door.

I had to sleep with the front door open and the back slider open to get air to move.

Besides the door not locking, the dv player was not working.

but a fan was provided and as we were on the second floor we felt comfortable leaving the balcony door open all night for air.

Need to fix the drapes on the patio door.

Our room was clean, shower was moldy, exhaust fan screeched nonstop, no A/C -

The rooms were very clean and smelled good.

Get used to taking the stairs as the elevator is painfully slow and monopolized by the cleaning crew.

It has only one slow elevator so allow yourself some time.

There is only one elevator resulting in slow service.

The ugly:  Only one slow elevator serves this four floor hotel.

The only negative thing about the hotel was the elevator,  it was very slow.

Only 1 elevator and count on weekends being crowded.

We think there might be one stuck in the elevator

The have a large size elevator and on the 2nd and 4th floor there are ice machines and vending machines for drinks and snack food.

The only concern was that there was only one elevator and it was rather slow and always full.

Four floors are serviced by one elevator.

Slow elevator in the center of the building, and stairs at each end.

I heard numerous other guests complain about the elevator.

My only complaint and the reason for only giving it a 4 is that there is only 1 elevator and as a result it takes quite a while to move luggage to and from the room.
