I’m a fan of the dark interiors, the purple on black, the slightly risqué photographs in the common areas.

but everything is really dark, with the woodwork painted black and there is very dark wallpaper.

though it might be a little dark specially inside chests and the wardrobe.

The look and feel of this hotel are quite decadent, dark velvet textures and different tones of lighting with a romantic feel.

The decor was tired, with black walls, black lamps and black lampshades; the lighting was dim and the room was dark.

but that might have been that it was starting to become dark and raining.

The décor is boutique baroque, with lots of textures, bold, dark colours and heavy velvets.

The only tihing to make better is to have more lamps at the hotelroom, a bit dark.

If I had to suggest something I would brighten the lighting - those dark hallways with steps here and there can be a bit treacherous.

It’s charming with a decadent layered decor; damasks upon Bergere chairs, dark wood, and a bit of sexy black thrown in for modernity.

The decor is kinda dark and "gothic", as you can se from various photos.

If there would be something to suggest is to add more light, because it seemed a little dark to us.

Hotel location reasonable (not great), rooms very very small and claustrophobic (dark colors), no place even to put the suitcases, all the hotel is always dark even during the day time, few times needed help from the reception and didn't get it as receptionist was not local/ couldn't help at all, very old building - could hear every time anyone in the near rooms makes a shower or go to the toilets.

There's a great smoking room tucked away in the hotel (think leather lounge chairs, dark walls, a glass of port and a fat cigar), without any smokey impact on the rest of the hotel.

Dark walls, velvet drapes, mildly erotic picture behind the reception, I wondered for a moment exactly what kind of establishment I was checking into. .?

I really liked the lovely Christmas decorations.

The decor is a tame maximalist style and very tastefully finished.

I was very lucky to visit during the holidays and even my room had an adorable holiday decoration.

I was completely charmed by the decor of the hotel that made the stay feel fun and special -- especially the stylish and cozy hotel bar that was the perfect meeting place to enjoy a pre- or post-outing lounge with my travel companions.

The bar is lovely, great ambience and cocktails, much nicer than many hotel bars.

The overall premises had a very good look / decor style.

The canal house building and interior decor are beautiful, and the location on a central canal superb.

The lighting in our bedroom was at best described as gloomy!

The location of the hotel in the middle of the canal district is fantastic, the spacious suite was stylishly furnished, the staff was courteous and helpful.

It’s so uniquely styled, in an amazing area, near all major attractions.

This gem of a spot is a 400 year old elegant  Victorian bar mixed with modern cocktail flair.

The atmosphere at the bar is relaxing and makes a perfect place to unwind in the evening.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and it’s a lovely place to return to after a day of sightseeing.

Though the room was cozy, the bed was full-sized, not twin, and so comfortable that I had to drag myself out of it every morning.

My recent stay at The Toren in Amsterdam was a romantic escape filled with luxury and charm.

The rooms are tastefully styled and the bar and lounge area were perfectly situated to enjoy breakfast overlooking the canal.

The Torens location is perfect, a short walk through the beautiful cobbled streets will lead you to any attraction or shopping adventure!

Amsterdam is for walking or cycling and the central location of the hotel allows you to do both.

The best thing about this hotel is the location.

It has an excellent location - walkable from the train station, nearby the Jordaan,  just north of De 9 Straatjes and around the corner for the Anne Frank House.

The Toren is a great hotel in a great location with wonderful amenities.

It’s located close enough to the main attractions, yet it’s still nice and quiet.

The hotel location was great for public transportation, taxis, and walking.

If you want to stay in the more quaint part of Amsterdam this is the best location for sure.

And the location is very good as you can reach a lot of restaurants and attractions nearby.

Location: Perfectly situated in the Jordaan neighborhood, it's very easy to walk everywhere.

Very close to Dam Square and at the same time located in a very quite and safe area.

The hotel itself is spotless and absolutely beautiful, located along a canal in the picture-perfect Jordaan neighborhood.

They made the best cocktails ever with warmth and expertise.

The food is fantastic and supplied by a local restaurant, Black & Blue, which deserves it's own review entirely, which will be 5* also.

The Toren is an absolute gem in the heart of Amsterdam in a lovely historic building, near to museums and all of the lovely local shops and restaurants.

Every attraction and the many excellent restaurants are a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Close to the center and easy access to restaurants and tram.

The front desk had lots of recommendations for sights and restaurants.

but plentiful menu to pick and choose from.

The food was excellent and the lounge was nice, quiet and relaxing.

A person that elevates your experience while you enjoy a tasty beverage well made by someone who knows their craft.

Possibly my favourite element is the cozy bar that serves a variety of cocktails, draft beer and excellent food.

Our dinner reservation was made by the staff and it was a wonderful recommendation.

Everything you could want and usually it tides me over until dinner.

At check in, I was presented with a list of recommended restaurants all within 10min walking distance of the hotel .

The hotel is located directly on a canal, with people going about their lives, viewable from the restaurant’s picture windows.

The food and drinks are also fantastic - they even offer room service!

Dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Maxwell’s, was a culinary delight, with a menu showcasing Dutch and international cuisine.

Personal was very nice and the food excellent.

Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful (taxis, restaurant reservations, room upgraded upon arrival, lovely personal welcoming note).

The room was very clean and the bathroom too.

The rooms are well appointed and clean, housekeeping are a credit to the hotel.

The Jacuzzi im my room was ideal for relaxing after a day's exploration of the city's delights.

So much positive feeling in the bar, in the garden in the luxury room, it's unbelievable.

Our gorgeous king guest room overlooked the pretty canal all dressed up in twinkling lights.

The staff were very lovely - they decorated my room with balloons for my birthday which was very sweet.

The room we had was spacious and clean, nice garden view and very quiet overnight.

Comfortable and aesthetically-pleasing room.

There are areas both on the stairs and in our room which were showing signs of wear and tear.

They took us to our room where we found a handwritten welcome letter and chocolates!

The rooms are very nice and cosy, the breakfast is amazing and the service is very friendly.

The whole building is elegant and charming, the room very comfortable and decorated with a unique style.

The room is well furnished with great Lavazza coffee,  soft drinks and a tub of fudge !

I traveled solo, so I booked a single room.

Our room was impressive, had a comfortable bed, a soaking tub,  with a view to the canal.

The beds and pillows are so comfortable and the rooms spacious!

My room was elegantly decorated, with a blend of classic and modern elements, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The small room turned out better than I had expected from the website  photos, and was not lacing the usual bells n whistles as a double room.

Practicalities: the WC in the room is small, like barely close the door behind you small.

I knew when I booked that my single room would be small and boy they weren’t kidding!!

This hotel is a one of a kind visual art masterpiece in an excellent location.

but the thing that really strikes you is the decor which is outstanding — opulent and eclectic, with beautiful fabrics, stunning chandeliers, ceramics, and artworks.

This is a beautiful hotel, with exceptional decor.

It is beautifully and tastefully decorated with such attention to detail and no expense spared.

What a pleasant surprise on entering hotel, decor was beautiful and staff were amazing - pastries, coffee and lollies in foyer all day for guests.

Design is unique, staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast has anything you might want.

We came to celebrate a big anniversary, so decided to treat ourselves to a special break.

This is an Art Nouveau bonbon of a hotel, maximalist in decor and memorably beautiful if this is your vibe.

Next is the atmosphere and ambiance of the hotel.

The decor was extremely unique and creative as well as functional!

Old World Charm with all the modern amenities.

There were patio style doors which opened inwards so could sit and have air into the room.

The hotel has a stunning lobby that feels like you are in your grandma's well-decorated living room.

The decor throughout is absolutely stunning straight out of decorators heaven.

The lobby area, and areas adjacent to the lobby, are eclectic, blingy, quirky, welcoming.

Location is good - not too far from Dam Square, Leidesplein and Rembrandtsplein.

The location was fantastic, it is a short walk to the Royal Palace and only a 20 min walk to Centraal Station,

Thought hotel was well located for restaurants and shopping and was easy walk to Dam Square.

Have stayed here numerous times and there is no question about it, the location, hotel and what it stands for (multi generational ownerships) is outstanding.

The location is good only a few blocks from Dam Square.

This hotel is well located, and has a “signature scent” that was so overwhelming I started sneezing and coughing within 5 minutes of arriving.

Only good thing are the cat at the reception and the location

but the surrounding area is lovely and filled with nice shops, restaurants and bars.

This was a lovely place to stay right in the centre of Amsterdam with lots of places to eat and drink nearby.

Would recommend this hotel to family and friends as it is so close to Dam Square, restaurants and other attractions.

but the restaurant was full and looked really inviting.

The hotel bar opened in the evening and served a nice selection of cocktails, wine and beer.

After returning after a day out we sat and had drinks and snacks in Maria’s bar- amazing cocktails and very attentive staff.

There's also a bar off this area and a restaurant area where breakfasts are served.

It was also close to many restaurants and shops.

The breakfast is excellent, lots to choose from, eggs, bacon, sausages etc, cold cheeses and salads, pastries, cereals smoothies, yoghurts, fruits and many different breads.

Close to shopping, restaurants, cafes and the like

Coffee or juice is offered 24hours as well as tasty cookies.

There is a huge choice of restaurants, cafes and take aways on the doorstep.

Lovely location, ALL staff, service, food, drinks, environment are great, very welcoming and will most defiantly be returning.

but that is not an issue as there are many restaurants close by..  Would I stay again?

The service in the bar is excellent and the cocktails are good.

The position is in the better area of Amsterdam and has lovely shops, cafes and restaurants.

It was a treat to stay here and enjoyed the room and breakfast the next morning.

We had an excellent-sized family room overlooking the street at the rear, and the extra bed was full-size which was much appreciated by our son!

We had a canal view room which I would recommend.

Rooms were larger than I had thought, beautifully decorated, bed was very comfy, seperate toilet to bathroom and lovely amenities.

We stayed here for my husbands 60th birthday, it was a party of 6, the canal room was comfortable and very quiet.

This trip was great in terms of the room, bar service and general feel.

On check in we were given 2 rooms next to each other, which was lovely.

Bathroom is so small that there is no floor space for a bin, the bin was attached to the wall, close to the door frame.

It is very expensive though, like crazy expensive, and I have a bug bear that the single cake of soap and small body lotion wasn’t replenished daily when we were in a triple room and using it.

The bathroom could have been better, the  plastic bath was yellow and tiny and a bit of mould in the corner.

The bathroom was a little on the small side, there was only enough room for one person to stand in the space between the bath, toilet and sink,

Only thing are the bathrooms are really really tiny -

but bathroom was tiny and barely room to move.

Rooms aren't huge as it is on the Canal in an historic building, however the bathrooms are far too small and have a very narrow, dangerous bath with a shower overhead and no suction mat to provide greater safety..  Breakfast was OK

Our only caveat is that the bathroom was very small.

One thing I would say is the rooms are small,

She handed me the room key and again made no effort in explaining anything about the hotel to me I had to ask about the arrangement for breakfast which she says I will need to book the night before because their dining room is small and not all the guest can just come to have breakfast the same time.

I was in 413 and the room was small so suitable for 1.

I booked a twin or double room ages ago and I reminded the lady at check in at reception that we need a twin room if available and she said yes, only to discover when we opened the door that it was a single tiny room!

However the room was a little on the small side (there was nowhere to store our suitcase).

The rooms are small (ours was anyway, room 208)

Note that the rooms are very small per Amsterdam standards and the stairs very steep with small steps,

Really welcoming staff when checking in with concierge travel recommendations.

The breakfast was super, the staff were very welcoming and really helpful too.

The bar/restaurant is also charming and the staff there was kind too.
