In general, everything (breakfast, room, bed, cleaning, service, staff) was very nice.

What to improve: internet connection and install a glass door to close the shower cabinet - the whole bathroom floor was drowned after the 1st shower.

There’s no door to block water from shower to the bathroom floor in the shower room, so your bathroom gets messy and wet every time you take a shower.

Only grumble is lack of privacy with bathroom as it had a sliding glass door that did nothing to muffle any of nature's natural noises when using facilities!

The only aspect I didn’t like was the sliding door to the bathroom which wouldn’t shut closely like a normal door.

Only pity that the glass door of the shower is can not be closed and will wet the floor when one takes shower.

The only minus for the room is the door of the bathroom, it is not so isolating between the room and the bathroom, so there is not enough privacy.

The only unpleasant detail was the shower cabin, there is no door and inclination, You can’t take a shower without spreading the water all over the bathroom’s floor.

The only downside is the lack of a door on the shower and you get bathroom floor wet when showering.

My only complaint would be that the showers had one panel that was open (no shower curtain or door where there probably should’ve been one), causing a lot of splashing onto the bathroom floor outside,

but shower design doesn't have a closing door so water can easily get onto floor.

Interesting shower with no door so you have to be careful when you shower and overall is a bit small for a bathroom.

The only drawback i would say is that the shower area has no door so the water may spilt over the place in the bathroom.

Rooms were bit small, & the toilet floor gets wet during shower as it is not enclosed.

If the room was just a tiny bit bigger, that would be excellent.

It also had electronically operated blinds, common in Europe, to block the sun.

though we were on the road side, there wasn't any significant noise thanks to the automatic blinds.

My wife was not so impressed with the lack of curtains in the room, I think there were just some nets.

Also, gauzy curtains did nothing to block out the lights from the parking garage out our window.

but during the night the noise of trains bothered us and woke us up several times, so please try to improve the sound proof of the window in the future.

There’s also an automatic retractable curtain to ensure total darkness for quality sleep.

Not only is the room well proofed, the window is amazingly thick, and there's a metal gate that rolls down by motor to block out light and noise.

The hotel is just beside the railway track so it can be noisy at night if you leave the window open.

However, if you close the window & the blind, I believe there's no issues with the noise.

It was worse when we were in bed, as it was placed close to the window.

Only downsides are that the rooms are quite compact (although well organised), and rooms on the railway side could be a bit noisy (block out windows etc work well to minimise noise).

but would say get a front facing one if you want the window open as rear ones can be noisy with the trains, as the station is just behind the hotel, so on a plus really handy for those travelling by train.

The only drawback is that it is right by a railway line so the trains can be noisy when windows are open.

Minus points: The train line close by may disturb very light sleepers (in part mitigated by electrically operated shutters on the windows)  The trains run quite late and start early morning  I and are fairly infrequent believe, and did not disturb me personally.

Comfortable and clean room , bit noisy if you had the window open as on busy rood.

The rooms are great, the staff is fantastic, breakfast is good and its centrally located to all that old town of Colmar has to offer!

As the previous reviewer mentioned, some rooms - especially in the suites across the street - did not have an elevator.

He shoved us in the elevator with our luggage and we were left to fend for ourselves.

Not mentioned was that the room was on the second floor and only accessible via two long, high stairs, no elevator.

The other two were on the second floor--with NO elevator access.

Just take note that on The Colombier Suites the rooms upstairs don’t have elevator, and to access them you have to climb steep stairs (which we didn’t mind).

but the building we were in did not have an elevator.

We had booked and paid for our Superior room a year in advance and yet we ended up in a third floor attic room (no lift!).

We were in a beautiful section overlooking the interior patio, no elevator so had to go up two flights with luggage

We were shown to the elevator door - no offer of help beyond that.

Our room was up flights of stairs ( no elevator) there are rooms that have elevator access

We had a room right on the top floor without lift.

Just notice that most part of the rooms (also suites) don't have elevator to arrive, so if you have problems with stairs, just phone the hotel to be sure that your room is in the part of the hotel with elevator.

The only problem for some guests, it may be that in the ward where I stayed they do not have a lift and the room, in my case (the thirth floor), it was a duplex.

Only negative is that it has a shower and no bathtub and no elevator in "Suites" building.

They only downside are the steps, as a reconstructed old building there is no elevator.

but no elevator so a lot of stairs up which we had to lug our bags.

It was on the top floor (with an elevator just outside the door).

The bathroom was accessible wit a small stairs.

If you are 70+, not immediately a "comfort far from home" to drag your bags up and down the stairs.

Our room was up a few flights of stairs and then up another flight once inside the room (like a loft) and probably not suited to the elderly or mobility challenged.

Stairs become more and more difficult after age 80!

The only downside would be for people who have trouble with stairs.

The climb on the stairs (see photos) might be difficult for some, so I suggest checking about any physical limitations when reserving.

but it should be specified as the stairs were quite steep.

but we were placed in the adjoining building up two long flights of stairs.

The bathroom is on another level, so you need to take the metal stairs, while bending over because you will hit your head on the slanted ceiling.

When I mentioned this at check out, the attendant seemed to blame it on me not coming down 5 flights of stairs to get it sorted out.

I could not find the elevators to our room, only stairs so I went back to the reception and was told there are only stairs (actually I wonder where the emergency exit is for this area).

So if you don't want to lug your suitcases up the stairs, make sure to specify a room with elevator access or on the ground floor.

but we had to climb 2 flights of stairs (not a real problem for us and staff helped with our luggage, but elder people may have a hard time).

On arriving with a "heavy suitcase" which they wanted me to carry up three flights of stairs, which I refused to do as I'm a senior citizen.

It has friendly staff, abundance of lockers if you want to leave your stuff and tour Colmar after you check out, amazing amazingly delicious breakfast buffet and clean and tidy rooms.

The breakfast was the highlight of our stay!

I had to get a refund from the website I paid for the room with and move causing us 4 hours of lost time.

After booking through hotel.com a delux room with a queen bed at a premium price, when on arriving we were given a standard room.

It is unfortunate that of all the hotels we stayed at on our 3-week trip, this was the only one where breakfast was included in the price of the room.

Brasserie food was no more than average and seemed expensive.

I booked for the Tradition Confort Room (not the cheapest) and I was stroke by the small surface of it and the old furniture.

Further, jugs of tap-water did not appear until after some of us had unnecessarily ordered expensive bottled water.

This case is so sensitive for guests who pay high for good hotels

Considering this was midweek we thought the room rate was good at 145 Euro including breakfast for three + 15 Euro for parking + city tax (unavoidable).

Breakfast is not worth it unless included in the room rate - and no soundproofing between rooms and the corridor.

but I was surprised at checkout that what I thought was breakfast included in my room price was not.

That was a bit costly and not so convenient

Drinks if you want them are brought through from the Brasserie next door and have to be paid direct and can't go on the room bill which was very strange.

In total I would say it is a 2 star hotel, and it is not worth to go for the money you pay per night.

I could not get a comparable price through Best Western.

I asked for a seat for 7 people, she gave me a seat that I didn't like.

At check in  we asked to book a table for dinner to be told both restaurants and the bar were closed, there was no food or drink available.

I asked if open  on Christmas Day and was told yes.

On requesting the room that we had booked we were fobbed off by reception by them saying they are not responsible as we did not book through them!!!!!!

I asked them again that this is not possible so,  they have to do someting because they have disturbed  all my sleep and rest .

but worn, and since the safe did not work we asked for another room and this was not a problem.

We asked for manager who surprise surprise was not available.

but my son's euro coins disappearing from table so we asked her whether she saw or not.

After the first night we noticed that our paper cups (for coffee/tea ) and milk pots had not been replaced so on passing Reception on our way out to dinner we asked if they could replace them.

We requested singles, so they separated the beds in the main bed area, and then there was a single bed tucked behind a half wall that separated itself from the main sleeping area.

At breakfast the staff were unfriendly, they didn't say good morning, just asked for your room number.I expected better from Best Western and would never stay here again.

We had requested a bath so were given this room which faced into the courtyard with limited views

although this was remedied on our second day, without our having to request it. .

It wasn't just that - we asked very nicely and she insisted that she did not have the ability to open the toilet for us,

Thank God I read some reviews in Trip Advisor and I asked about the public parking.

When I asked for proof of my signature, they obviously couldn't provide it so they changed their story to I never cancelled the room.

I asked some of the other guests (we were in a group), they had no such problems - this seems as if it was a rogue room.

The staff was not helpful or courteous:  We arrived in Colmar at 11 AM and had to sit in the lobby until we could finally get into our room at 3 PM per the advertised policy (four hour wait):  Although my 70 year old sister with her cane was obviously exhausted and needed to freshen up, the desk staff didn’t apparently want to deal with making the maids angry so they never requested that they expedite cleaning our room.

The breakfast was surprisingly good and with good variety - which is not a matter of course in French hotels!

The staff were genial and pleasant, particularly at breakfast where they struggled to seat everyone in the too-small-for-the-hotel room.

There are some excellent restaurants nearby and the covered market do a very tasty breakfast overlooking one of the prettiest parts of Colmar.

We stayed in this hotel during our 1 night stop in colmar, the room was TOO small, the bedsheets smelled really dirty, the receptionist failed to answer any of our questions and failed to make us feel welcomed!

Rooms a little bit small, the beds need to be changed right away, en january the 1rst we expected visitors at the restaurant and they were kicked out of the hotel, bad manners from the lady at the front lobby . .

Our room had a small balcony overlooking a side street, and I would suggest asking for a room facing the back or side streets to avoid the noise.

The A/C didn't really cope with the heat,

A/C not set for cooling yet reception explained still Cold outside at night.

When we reached our bedroom the air conditioning didn’t work.

The only thing I can mention as a small drawback is the noise produced by the air-conditioner.
