Breakfast was really good , real coffee brought at the table.

but the food we saw looked average, breakfast buffet was very standard.

We did bed and breakfast and wow..what a breakfast selection there was and all very tasty!

We participated with the breakfast part of the all inclusive, and it was fantastic!

It is buffet style and the food was amazing!

The breakfast is great, loads of selection.

The breakfast has quantity and diversity,

but absolutely go if you want a relaxing beach vacation with a good nights sleep and a nice big breakfast in the morning.

though it’s buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the quality is so good.

Starters and desserts were good in the buffet

The omelettes were incredible, everything was fresh.

For example - the "fried tortillas with pico de gallo, avocado and cheddar cheese sauce" was nacho crisps from a packet, a spoonful of guacamole and cheese sauce from a bottle.

Breakfast was plentiful and pleasant- absolutely beautiful to sit and eat breakfast while looking at the view.

Food is wonderful with a vast variety of such on offer, whether this be breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Food -Can only describe as COLD & poor quality , even when you went in early, my hubby loves his fish,he dare not at it, as it was tepid at most,i decided to eat off the grill ,to get it hotter,all the meat served were tiny tiny lamb chops( looked like they came from a sparrow) flash fried steak,salmon that was rock hard couldnt even shred it !

The food situation is very very poor:
For All Inclusive there was no food available for my 3 children for 3 1/2 hours everyday- if you want your children to eat then you have to argue with someone every time.

Again the food offering was poor … most notably the chicken goujons … processed beyond recognition … possibly 5%chicken or so it seemed.

Suffice to say the food remained poor for the rest of the holiday.

Paper napkins, no table lights, poor atmosphere.

The variety of cocktails is very poor (for the level of 5star) and some of the waiters were exceptionally unprofessional.

A pretty below average experience - and I include in this that the COVID measures (including information about them) are no more than poor.

however the service was poor - the check in was at 2pm and we were only able to get in our room at 4pm and the service in the bars was disappointing as well.

We also cannot believe how cheap this is priced for a 5 star compared to other places in the world such as France or Switzerland where their accommodations are either severely poor and run down or so expensive you need to be royalty to stay there!

carpets in cirridors are really worn and old looking with stains and sun loungers are in a very poor state, most of them ripped, also it was August and the lower pool was freezing!

The food is below par, the lawns were not cut whilst we were there and it was long and full of dandelions, the carpeting requires replacement and the bar/terrace furniture is in poor condition.

Looked bored, uninterested and the quality of the drinks were poor.

- the culinarium experience was very very poor.

Apart from the drinks, we deposited the contents in the Reps room so they could see first hand the poor quality.

One poor couple ended up in the garage as they’d been directed to the wrong lift to find their room on floor 1!!

The gym for the size of the hotel is rubbish, there are 2 cross training machines, 1 bike, 1 running machine, 4 different fixed resistance machines, a poor selection of weights and 1 bench.

These cost around €5 and found it was quicker and cheaper to ask them to drop you at the Marina.

but we had lunch by the pool snack bar and I agree with other reviews - was overpriced for the quality of the food.

Areas to make it even better: 

Lunch in the snack bar by the pool is very expensive for the quality, €17 a salad or pizza I felt was too much.

Like the breakfast the evening meal was a buffet and equally disappointing and expensive for what is offered.

That was frustrating as didn’t want to pay for a drink of anything when we had paid a lot of money anyway.

Given the high price of the room in August I consider completely inadmissible such bad cleaning.

however main courses were very disappointing making the buffet offering way over priced.

We woke up late on the day of checking out and thankfully we could extend our room until 6pm for €65 which I dont think it expensive.

No valet at front entry, you can open air park free or you have to pay for garage parking.

Then he said, "this is what's going to happen. You're going to pay this bill and I don't care what your phone says."

Hence I never got to find out prices of drinks, there was no printed drinks menu.

And unless you keep tabs on what you have spent I reckon most people pay up no questions asked.

{death and destruction}  As the "entertainment" in the evening was almost non-existent, the hotel being quite isolated it was early to bed with a good book.most nights There was a shuttle service.But the mini bus only seating for 8 passengers, and you had to pay 2 euros 50 to go to the nearest town, Lagos.

This hotel is perfect in almost every way except for the location -it’s a long way from the centre of Lagos and it costs 2 euros each to go in the courtesy bus which only holds 8 people.

You pay €2 each way and can be dropped off at the Marina or the town.

Little things like having to pay for coffee machine pods after day 1 let the hotel down.

So for a family of four we had to pay 650/night which is not at all worth the space.

A great breakfast each morning with everything stocked well and great choice of cooked and continental.

One saving grace is the amazing breakfast with hot food station and a superb array of choices from fruit, veg, breads, pastries and drinks.

We enjoyed our breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Breakfast was super - lots of choice and it was wonderful to sit on the balcony outside overlooking the river each morning.

Good choice at breakfast and friendly staff in the restaurant and on the buggies (which will take you around if necessary, we used them for luggage at the beginning and end of our stay).

Breakfast amazing, so much choice and always fresh.

Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice and they even had mimosas to enjoy each morning!

The breakfast restaurant was very nice with the new and improved style.

The breakfast buffet is fantastic the best I’ve ever had!.

The main pros are 
-the breakfast selection and setting,
-the ability to safely cater for coeliacs (gluten free needs)*, and
-the pool area.

A great selection of pastries, cereals, bread, yogurts and hot breakfast items.

Good selection of food for breakfast which we  eat  overlooking the  harbour.

The breakfast was 10/10, so much choice & they even had ice cold prosecco daily if you fancied a bucks fizz.

Buffet breakfast was excellent and the half board option, also a buffet, we were told was of equal quality.

First night we had a poor choice dinner in the restaurant, practically alone.

although they are working with reduced staff at the moment I thought was a little poor, I would have thought every Euro counts at the moment

but they were poor which is a shame as it leaves little choice for the evening.

also the door into the room had some bad peeling at the bottom and gave a poor impression and expectation of the room.

The pool at the hotel was extremely poor.

As a positive the food choice was so poor I managed to lose weight on holiday - a first! !

These men pushed a young toddler around in a buggy all day and paid the poor child no attention.

The mini frankfurters and streaky bacon were of really poor quality.

but you are charged for the capsules which is a bit much particularly as the machine coffee at breakfast is poor.

Service was extremely poor in nearly all aspects of the hotel.

but a few things need addressing 
- on check in only one member of staff so had to wait 20 mins to be seen and then told simply we couldn't check in for another 1.30 mins
- breakfast was very nice but again queuing 10/15 mins for fried eggs and omelette was a pain, so didn't bother some mornings
- asked for router so I could get internet as was poor in my room.

The only 'gripe' was that the soundproofing of the apartments was poor.

The Tivoli was good for Breakfast and good for the view other than that it was poor.

One small let down was the platground near the pool as it is in a poor condition, which would have been useful fro my 2 young daughters.

We had a wonderful November break at the Tivoli.The hotel is in a great location , near the Marina and the railway and bus stations and within walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants .The hotel was spacious, very clean and comfortable .The staff were very friendly and helpful.The breakfast buffet was excellent.Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony and it was extremely well serviced each day.

The breakfast gave so much choice and it was great to see  Odette's smile each morning.

Everything was immaculate.And the breakfast which was included  in my deal was a great range of delicious stuff.

The breakfast is good and dinner was very good.

I would suggest Bed Breakfast only as there are so many very reasonable eateries within 10mins walk.

The breakfast offering can be described as bog standard hotel.

Breakfast was excellent, and overall I would return.

At the time we stayed it was predominantly a holiday B&B hotel, with breakfasts being busy affairs.

Positive points are the rooms, central location and inclusive breakfast.

Certainly not a 4 star accommodation as they state, we would give 2 stars, perhaps 3 due to a good breakfast.

The hotel itself, apart from the areas around reception, is in need of a complete renovation.

From the reception area, to your greeting, to the labyrinth of stairs you must navigate to get to your room - it is run down and in desperate need of a gut renovation.

The rooms are average bathrooms are in need of updating and grubby around the edges .

In general, the grounds look like they need an update.

Yes, the paint is a little worn and it could use some maintenance updating,

but had terms and conditions shoved in our face and told we’d be charged regardless.

but not least, the whole hotel ‘resort’ needs urgent refurbishments, this could be done by blocks, the hotel does not have to shut down for months.

However, a design where you are literally climbing 92 steps to get to the 6th floor or 70 steps if you don’t use the first floor elevator is completely outdated.

The whole hotel needs a general refurbishment.

but things in the Health Club are a little outdated except for the gym.

Everything is faded and old  and in desperate need of an update!

This and the fact parts of the hotel felt like they needed abit of an update, only reasons for not giving it a five star.

I think it has been undergoing a lot of refurbishment.

Definitely in need of a serious makeover.

We had read
reviews previously to request a renovated room, having booked this accommodation 10months ago we did so and politely made this request at check in, to which we were advised all the rooms have been renovated.

We had been there 17 years ago so obviously the hotel has been updated since then.

but it doesn't hide the fact that the bathroom needs to be remodeled and the layout is terrible.

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment so might improve after that

A point of improvement could be the common areas, they are a bit outdated.

Worst of all if you descend below floor 1 there is a distinct musty smell.

However our room felt damp and the bedroom window was wet every morning with signs of mold.

The elevator to the room was old and the dark dingy hallway needs painting, new carpet and smells musty.

We were then given a larger, old room which for the whole week smelt like a sewer.

But either way.. you should know it smells, and not in a good way.

When you enter the hotel you’ll be met by what i can only describe as the smell of an old folks home, and not a good one.

Front desk overworked looking, tired, suggests they are burned out and underpaid.

What an epic disappointment! Smelled like mildew, stained blanket, holey towels (seriously?)

The balcony had cigarette dimps thrown out and we don’t smoke .

My only grumble was Mr Dumpty gorging on a bowl of hard boiled eggs. Disgusting.

There’s an awful smell first thing in the mornings of stagnant  water.

However an odour of damp pervades the cavernous hallways.

It was as if it had previously been a smoking room for many years and that scent was baked in to the room.

In the bathroom the smell from the drains was putrid.

We had no air con for 2 nights, no fan to even give us, room 704 was tiny and not enough room to even open our bags, balcony, filthy with just two small old chairs.

Balcony disgusting with a weeded dirty area with sun beds you wouldn’t put a dog on.

Thankfully, I travelled with disinfectant wipes which I normally use when out and about with my toddler and they came in handy for my wiping down the toilet areas and other surfaces to feel more at ease.

The buildings are old, the decor is a little dated, and some halls are a bit smelly, and you can spot a cracked window here and there.

the room smelt of strong damp, the porter rushed to the patio doors to open them, the bathroom was dirty, mould on the walls, curtains falling off, when we told reception  they had one other room which was slightly better.. the customer service girl Anabel thought a cheap house wine would suffice then we managed after having to say we don't drink wine and getting to feel stupid by the bar staff for asking a mixer drink.. not a great experience.

All staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious.

Breakfast buffet had a great selection and high quality food.

The breakfast was wonderful and the wait staff were always very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed two nights of impeccable service, a spacious and immaculate room and generous breakfasts.

Great amenities with pool, spa, gym, a sumptuous breakfast in the morning and lots of parking.

Breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious with extremely attentive servers and a view to die for.

We arrived very early (9.45am) they arranged for our room to be ready within 45 mins, during the wait the sorted breakfast for us.

but friendly staff from the moment you arrive and meet Ricardo on entry , to the reception staff , Ronaldo who manages the bar , the house keepers do a great job  , food is quality , so credit to the chefs ,lovely lady who greets you at breakfast with long brown hair is always so so happy / lovely / friendly and professional , cleanliness is managed to 5* standards and all round first class experience !

The selection and quality of the food at breakfast was excellent and we were looked after very well by the restaurant staff.

Food options were very good, including an expansive breakfast buffet, The One fine dining restaurant, and sushi at the Sky Bar.

We have to mention Goncalo, a waiter in the breakfast buffet - he was such a pleasure to start the day with.

I believe it is noise mostly from the balcony above, because of poor soundproofing, and may be largely from the maids as it started around 8 AM, so it would only be a problem if you want to sleep latter.

)Very poor hygeine measures in the gym with no sense anyone is in charge of this area.

Cocktails differed, and some were good, some not so,

Dinner was a poor show.

Evening buffet at €37pp was poor value - show cooking was "burgers" - in a 5 start hotel - really? Pool was very small relative for the size of the hotel, luckily we were outside of the school holidays

- note that the internal courtyard adjacent to the indoor pool shows the building to be in a poor state of repair compared to the external facade which of course looks great.

I keep telling myself it was just poor timing on our part.

On top of being clearly not a service-oriented hotel, neither designed nor furnished with what one would expect from a 5 star hotel, the service is really poor at the bars.

but we had one poor day of rain when we just went out and about in our hired car.

Finally, one poor young lady was hit by a broken sun umbrella that was caught by a gust of wind and hit her in the shoulder.

Also worth noting that the internet connection is very poor I could not get any signal in my room on my tablet and on my MacBook I had speeds of 0-1 mb/s this was basically unusable, it was the same in the lobby, rooftop bar and restaurant overall poor signal + slow speeds.

The service I found a little poor and nearly every staff member I spoke to had an issue with understand English.

The only downside this year was the poor service in the Sky Bar, cocktails were mixed up on the order and an alcohol one served to my underage son instead of a virgin mocktail.

Road bump:  Access to the private beach is poor and dangerous.

6) The pool is circular I wasn’t a fan because I like relaxing on the pool edge and it wasn’t really comfortable to do this also I like swimming lengths and that was not possible - water was cold also
The indoor pool was boring - again super cold water and very shallow - the jacuzzi was the same cold water and poor water jets.

but food hygiene was poor with guests hands touching the meat when cutting.

I heard other guests complaining to the staff of similar issues with smelly rooms and poor a/c over the next couple of days.

Dirty brown water in taps, cold dank rooms, poor evening meals, often cold and poor quality, There is no information in the Hotel re attractions to visit in the area, no  bus info or time tables/prices..The pool is good if cold, and we noticed most of the pool recliners had been pre-booked by towels being laid out, we could not find a space there when we went down, So i did the obvious, threw 2 towels off 2 recliners and used the umbrella.

The only disappointing thing was the hash browns, they were the cheapest kind of pre frozen hashbrowns that were terrible, not even slightly crispy, just tased like cardboard.

We ate in the hotel at lunch.These we’re very good in quality and for value.We also had 5 dinners at the One restaurant.Excellent in all aspects.we did not feel they were expensive in comparison to similar restaurants in the world.

Not the cheapest Hotel on the Algarve I'm sure;

When you are required to pay upon arrival, there is no skin in the game for the hotel.

We can't advise thus hotel as expensive 


The rooms are the same, so the extra cost is for the view.

Tiles are falling off the pool 
(floor of pool and wall of the pool) for a hotel of this cost I would expect the pool to be maintained a bit better.

Some things like occasional quality of service and needing to pay for cabana beds (which were only rarely used as a result).

The pool restraunt,Mare, was overpriced and service was incredibly slow.

This hotel is overpriced for the service and is not in our view 5 star.

I visited in January '23, when it's the low season,  and the price was a little over $100 a night.

Would normally rate a 5 if not for the last night.

The full sea-view rooms overlook the pool directly and it's not a view I'd want or pay for.

And I paid for it, I paid $50 euros to see a wedding.
