But what was very special were the gatherings with our friends and his family and friends in the bar / restaurant of the Schwann.

The room was large and modern with flat screen t v, work desk and mini bar.

We had a view to the lake, flat screen tv, and a full mini bar.

The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant serves lunches and dinners which were also very good.

Reception with helpful stuff and breakfast ok. Good to ask for room with position to lake.

The Breakfast was good with plenty of cereals, breads, meats and cheeses, as well as a limited selection of hot food.

Good and cozy restaurant and a very good breakfast buffet.

Breakfast was generous and beautifully displayed.

They serve breakfast lunch and dinner, the food is very good.

Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, also with a view of the lake.

We spent to great nights in a room with lake view, great breakfast and jungle shower.

but the room was so old but in general everything was OK but i didn't tried the breakfast .

The food was quite good, service was friendly and the complimentary breakfast had a nice selection.

Breakfast was superb and we were only sorry that there was no time to extend our visit.

The breakfast buffet is excellent and generous, seating is in a traditional Austrian dining room with unforgettable views to the lake and to the plaza with the old town hall (with spire and carillon) and the boat jetty.

Breakfast was a self service continental buffet which had everything needed to start the day.

We had breakfasts in the hotel, they were excellent and had dinner once which was above my expectations.

Staff was helpful, breakfast (included) was very good, the location second to none and it was great to sit by the lake at night.

Dinner (outside and near the lake) was average at best, breakfast below average (not much choice of bread, and they close a lot earlier than advertised), and the staff at the restaurant/breakfast area was not very friendly, the staff at reception, on the other hand, was nice and helpful.

however breakfast was excellent and was included in the price.

The buffet breakfast was also very good and sitting outside with a drink watching the world go by was most pleasant.

the door to the balcony can't close up completely, and I can see nests of spraders in my  room 

lastly, the sound proof is poor.

But, when I opened the door to our room, I was amazed.

The night-watchman gave us a new key card at 4 in the morning as ours did not open the door.

The staff can answer most questions about what to see, if they can't they will direct you to the visitor information office directly across the square.

When we first arrived and I was walking through the corridor to the rooms, I thought these room doors look like commercial refrigerator doors.

The only problem we had was with a light fixture that has a sensor and will come on when a movement is detected, which means that at night the light comes on and wake up any body which is asleep if any other person walks by the light (on the way to the bathroom, minibar, etc.

The location on the lake, and near the town center was ideal.

Besides the perfect location on the main square of Gmunden, Hotel Schwan provides an old fashioned, historic hotel with a spin: The rooms are modern, of highest standard and newly renovated.

The hotel is spotless, my room was very spacious with a beautiful view over the lake and surrounding mountains and the location on the town square couldn't be more central.

Has a great position to sit outside and see the mountains, the lake and the square (Rathausplatz).

I had a single room, single bed, located next to the alley.

The hotel is located in the centre of town overlooking the lake making it very accessible for all the town has to offer.

Also it's near the esplanade for walks to a small castle and near the river walk (Traun River, I think), The location is traffic free, so nights are mostly quiet,

In addition to the great location, we were all comfortable in the hotel and appreciated the good service.

The restaurant downstairs is nicely traditional--even a little bit grand.

There are many good outdoor restaurants lining the nearby promenade along the lake.

but rather clean and since we had our dinner in the room with a very nice view.

she suggested us to go to the room and check if we needed first.

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed rooms that had balconies facing the lake.

I got a nice big quit room with beautiful view of Traunsee and the mountains in the background.

It was HUGE, faced the lake, had a bedroom alcove in addition to a living room, a balcony with chairs to enjoy the view.

When you are looking for a room with a view we would recommend the Seehotel Schwam in Gmunden.

Very hot in August, no air, so I had to sleep with the windows open.

We woke up to the fog gently lifting off the Lake and watched the swans sailing along.

There seemed to be quite a lot of happenings in the market square which might be disturbing if you want to go sleeping early.

We chose our hotel carefully to be on a lake, near a railway station, with good Trip Advisor reviews, and outside the heavily visited tourist areas.

but ours were bright, modern  and with lovely lake views.

Breakfast was incredible, the pool was a big hit with the little one.

Mr Steinkogler always in discreet presence despite an exceptional amount of responsibilities - he also personally serves at the adjoining Mostschenke which belongs to the Steinkogler Family.

Really gave a taste of the region and heritage with the decor and the owners, Family Steinkogler, were the most attentive and kindest hosts.

it is managed by the one family and that makes you feel very cosy and like at home.

But it was the care of the garden, and the view overlooking it, which stole my attention.

The decoration in the common areas was really charming and befitting the holiday season.

We have had 5 days very succesfull holiday in the family-run Hotel Hochsteg Gütl.

but breathtaking holiday based in a top class hotel I thoroughly recommend little Ebensee and a visit to the wonderful Hotel Hochsteg-Guetl.

we wanted to celebrate our national holiday with the national dish, and the hotel owners very nicely provided us the hotels kitchen for our absolute disposal to cook it!

This is a very modern, recently built hotel that has that traditional family run hotel vibe that Austria is famous for.

The rooms were enormous and so well positioned over the garden, with incredible large and efficient modern bathrooms en suite.

The swimming pool, sauna, and turkish bath are all modern and exceptionally equipped.

They offer a decent breakfast for which the asset is that eggs in different styles are freshly made and served to the table.

The quality and variety of the breakfast were excellent.

Breakfast was very good and replenished all the time.

The breakfast was as you would expect with loads of hams, cheeses and bread as well as yoghurt and cereals.

Room was beautiful, cozy, smell so good, beds very comfortable, breakfast very tasty and delicious.

So kind of him. The room was spotlessly clean and had a deck looking out to the stunning Traunsee, a scrumptious breakfast in the morning with just about anything you can imagine in an Austrian breakfast (almost wiped out the smoked salmon!)

My Wife and I stayed with Thomas and Anna for 7 days in early July 2009, Travelsphere weren't going that week so we took the car from Hampshire!.

The room was:
- clean and bright from sunshine
- big and equipped with a practical sitting corner with table
- with lakeview from the balcony.

After our initial review on the site we booked through, where we gave 3/10 we received a nasty email from Basil Faulty himself.

Great buffet breakfast (boiled eggs, breads, spreads, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, cold meats and cheese), very clean spacious room and bathroom, comfortable beds and huge pillows, wifi works, friendly owner, and beautiful view of the lake!

Pluses - immaculately clean, large rooms, beautifully positioned by the lake, Thomas (mine host) had a very subtle sense of humour.

We had lovely food, clean rooms and the best location in Austria.

My room was large and spotless so no complains there.
