On the positive side: a beautiful lobby, good breakfasts and polite staff in the restaurant.

The only positive things about this hotel are breakfasts and location of course.

A top-notch hotel that exceeded our expectations from warm and attentive staff to delicious food.

.While I was staying in RIXOS for almost a month, I exprienced a warm hospitality starting from the check-in desk , followed by the wonderful tasty breakfast and home-type care of concierge Alua, doctor Madina and other people to name. .

The buffet style breakfast was well stocked with a variety of fresh local and European foods - it evan offered a Sushi selection.

Breakfast is quite good with a nice variety.

If honestly hotel has beautiful lobby location also good.

The lobby is amazing and motivated at the entrance with a lightening roof.

Liked the hotel, was there for 4 days for a conference and loved the open lobby, the nice large rooms and service was in general good!

Check In and Lobby :
The Check In was quick and efficient.

Loved the croissants and coffee in the foyer for early departures and the palm court for drinks and a casual dinner.

The hotel is huge and located in a nice & safe part of town - we were impressed with the fine lobby with towering glass ceiling and overall reception staff and check in procedures were done efficiently.

There are several names, some of them I’d like to highlight: in the brasserie - Marzhan (taught me several words in kazak), Nurzhan (cooker) and Angeline (reception), in the front desk (Ruslan, Raiymbek and Hamra), in the lobby (Vera and Alila , always smiling 😃) and in the gym/spa (funny girl sorry forgot her name).

Great installations with a massive lobby where you will find boutiques, bars and a restaurant on a nice open like area covered by glass ceiling on the top of the building.

Perfect location, I think is best in this city,good service, huge Lobby, great rooms fine breakfast, intime atmosphere in the evening time , was my best experience of any 5 stars worldwide, want to get there back ASAP.

All the staff members at this hotel are helpful, especially the duty manager at the lobby.

Il mio soggiorno in questo hotel è stato meraviglioso, ma la guest relations formidabile, disponibilità 10 e lode.

But honestly,the piece-de-resistance were the two girls Amina and Mery manning the Guest Relations desk.They went out of their way to explain the various things/activities/excursions that I could avail of.

I personally want to thank Miss Alua Maratbekkyzy from Guest Relation department, which made my both stays at Rixos Almaty very special.

We would like to thank all staff in Almaty Rixos, they were awesome, special thanks to concierge, public relations team, who helped us to organize taxi service in a few minutes, because we were very late and could miss our flight which was at 21:30pm.

The second employee to mention is Farida from customer relations that went above and beyond to accommodate every request and question that I had.

Had a pleasant stay here, especially due to the attentive and friendly staff at the guest relations desk who helped with travel suggestions and thorough research.

Guest relation and front office team are very helpfull.

the morning buffet is so good~ and the service and staff is the number one kind/ especially the guest relations Alua is very kind they try to solve problem as the best.

but guest relations were able to arrange a half day tour of the city and environs for me which was so good that I referred a colleague who'd joined me later in the week.

Guest relations in the hotel, acts as tourist agent and helped us in finding and arranging for visits and tours.

I would like to mention especially Nazeem from customer relations who is always around and available for any issue.

Very nice staff in the reception and guest relations.

My room smelled like an old couch and the floor heating in the bathroom was way to hot, even when the temp was mild.

Disadvantages: sometimes it’s a bit smelly in the room, I guess because of the carpet, it’s quite old.

Unfortunately got placed into a smoking room while here

Actually, multiple rooms were made up since I rejected one because the safe didn’t work and another because of cigarette smell (supposedly a non-smoking room).

After staying at the Rixos many many times in the non-smoking room, they don't seem to remember nor care too much.

I had to close the bathroom air vents since there was a smell of smoke coming through the vents (there seemed little air being sucked out through the vents which explained how smoke came in from other rooms that way).

Some suggestions for improvement: yes there may be some smoke smell in rooms,

Only 1 issue, local visitors smoked in non-smoking rooms and I had to smell that and were very loud and the room was only separated by a think wall and a door.

My room stank of sewage, and so I had to move to another one.

but it was me who run and begged them to change the room to non smokers.

although I wasn't given the option of a non-smoking room and I was therefore quite unhappy to be given a relatively smelly room!!

Finally I was offered a room on the 3rd floor that was a smoking room, which being a heavy non-smoker was hard to tolerate.

Toilet had the older fixed bidet that could be soiled easily.

Massage lady was absolutely unprofessional and difficult to communicate, water on the floor in a pool, bad smell in one of the saunas and some problem with the staff of the restaurant.

If you like old hotel designs and don’t mind cigarettes smell in a non smoking floor

However the areas need improvement as the guest rooms are old and sound insulation for noises from neighboring rooms and outside have been poor, the conference rooms down at the basement can experience strong smells from kitchen.

The next morning, all my clothes were stink of cigarettes smell, not to mention my skins on my fingers were the same.

The smoking lounge is rather poorly ventilated

but I had to open the window which can be loud and sooty smelling it.

The rooms were not clean and smelled smoke!

but didn't clear the drain, still leaked on the floor.

though the bedding smelled slightly of stale smoke.

T Do not miss to visit the spa and Aidana was amazing to recommend the spa program that was carried out by Saltanat.

The spa , Turkish baths , steam & sauna were also beautifully designed spaces with great ambience.

Beautiful lounge area, comfortable bed, good and clean spa, polite staff.

The pool and sauna areas are stunning and very well designed.

Good facilities, spa and pool areas are worth a visit.

The hotel has a very good health club ( sauna, hammam, steam room ) & gym/swim pool.

Their Spa contains good gym, 25m indoor swimming pool and they also offer massages and beauty treatments.

Very good staff, fantastic SPA amenities.

Lastly, most disappointingly, I checked out in the morning to go snowboarding, after which I wanted to use their sauna and fitness facilities (while waiting for my evening flight)

The spa facilities are excellent, and the indoor pool is the best we've ever experienced.

The spa was also excellent and highly recommend to take advantage of this amenity.

but the herbal smells emanating from the spa were very enticing.

Breakfast is buffet style with a huge selection of international and Kazak dishes and a separate to order egg and waffle station.

The meals were delicious with a varied selection.

The stay was perfect,  breakfast is delicious and varied, and the waiters were very attentive to the guests.

The hotel is quite nice and beautiful view, the hotel staff are polite with good English language skill, clean and best environment in town, the breakfast is superb and people are friendly.

Breakfast was a great selection and the rooms were well appointed with a wonderful view for the 9th floor.

Executive lounge is light in food selection for breakfast and happy hour even ran out of the local beer, 7.5/10.

Rooms are spacious and clean, nice view to the mountains, excellent choice of food at breakfast, friendly staff, good free wi-fi, secured car park and 24 hours service and bar-restaurant.

but with a very complicated sliding door to get in and out - so you had to step up the height of the bath and though a gap.

Perhaps Cleaning should take place behind the shut doors at that time of night .

The bathtub is an accident waiting to happen as the doors do not open completely and there are obstacles to pass through before getting in.

We got woken up by the guests next door arrived at 2am and have hot sex and talked a lot.

the doors in front of the shower/bathtub are a bit dangerous , take care getting in and out of it!

Each door of the hotel is shorter 10-15 mm than the door frame.

I find them particularly noisy, there is a big gap between the door and the floor and if you get noisy people along the corridors they will bother you.

I slept extremely well without being woken by the sound of doors banging which is the norm in many other countries.

The bathroom is reasonably big - the tub is also the shower and has a glass sliding door making it uninviting to have a bath.

So not much to do to get customers coming through their doors.

Used their laundry services a few times, called house keeping to pick up and there would be someone knocking on the door within 3 minutes.

There is a nice professional spa in the basement along with a pretty good pool and gym with a nice outdoor terrace area.

While the property is not the newest, the rooms are clean, internet speed is quick, the in-house gym, swimming pool and spa are welcome additions.

A really great experience at this hotel mainly used as a base for sight seeing to travel so didn’t use the facilities

Tennis courts, gym and pool are available and fully fitted.

I contacted the hotel and sure enough, I could, for a very reasonable price, use their Spa which included a fantastic pool, workout rooms (more than one), saunas, etc.

I enjoyed my visit to the spa and fitness as well.

Nice well appointed rooms as per Intercontinental WW standards , nice Swimming pool, Spa, Gym Turkish Hammam, good restaurants and very helpful and pleasant staff.

If I ever go to Almaty again, this hotel would be my first choice to stay due to its ideal location, facilities, courteous staff and serene lobby.

Bosporus restaurant and fitness and spa creates nice atmosphere in the hotel .The laundry service helped us when our program has changed .

Gym is good and breakfast was even better!

Tips:
You can ask staff for taxis to be called.

First of all, excellent SPA area with very well equipped gym, great swimming pool, spacious hamam and saunas.

I called the front desk and they refused to honor it because I had already paid for dinner.

I ordered a ridiculously expensive breakfast from room service.

I was even more surprised that she charged me for breakfast because of these issues.

The only real negative were the high prices for drinks and food at the bar.

The only issue I have is that the receipts I was given were just credit card receipts, not exactly taxi receipts, which has caused me problems in claiming expenses,

As a rule, I do not use Hotel Foreign Exchange Counters because of the unfavorable rates - Intercon Almaty is the single exception!

Be advised that the hotel bar and restaurants can be expensive,

Is up to the single receptionist or waiter you met. In my opinion the rate is too high for this kind of accomodation comparate with the rate of Kazakhstan..

the breakfast buffet is a bit overpriced at 10,300 KZT, and has a standard spread.

All I all I thinks that there are better options for the money that you pay.

I think this hotel is a bit luxury, and price might be not very affordable, bug if you want to give yourself a very good time, then stay in this hotel.

Prices for food and drink were a lot lower elsewhere around town.

but extremely overpriced - head to town, you can find much more interesting food and drink options for three times less money.

I wasn't super hungry so went a la carte for breakfast (as the buffet was ~$35 USD) and ordered an omelette which was supposed to be 3 egg

Though the wine is very expensive and not the most enjoyable.

Rooms need to be renovated, the lighting in the room is quite dark, reception staff need to be more professional about their services, clear communication and facial expression.

But the property is very old and needs to be renovated.

Rooms are a bit old and seams as bathroom need some refresh renovation to keep it in better condition.

The decor and furniture could do with some updating,

The bathroom looked like it had been updated a bit.

but the furniture was a little outdated and run down.

Only downside was the room was a touch traditional and could use an update.

although the style might be a bit outdated.

though rooms are beginning to show their age and could do with a makeover.

The fitness center has outdated equipment

Quite expensive and needs some renovation are 2 negative feedback points I can mention.

but due an overhaul and perhaps a bit of a shake up to make it more contemporary in style of food and service.

The outside archtecture is a bit outdated

- Tired rooms and bathroom which would seriously benefit from a renovation.

Very polite, friendly service all round by every staff member I encountered.

Excellent service from the minute we arrived to when we left, plenty of staff to assist in making your stay special.

If you are wondering about special experience, you will receive it from the very attentive service, food and aura at the place.

Service is fine, we arrived too early for check-in, they let me use the great spa amenities for free while waiting for the room to be ready.

Nice pool and Spa and very reasonably priced massages and other treatments.
