Also four star hotel without airco or even a fan… mediocre breakfast with way too few places to sit.

Not really happy:
Booked a suite for one week and air conditioning was broken.

Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and the temperatures were hitting 1~2 degree celcius, and the river infront of the hotel was frozen during the second day of my stay..

but no airco, and expensive parking (per day €15,-).

I was given a room exactly opposite a noisy air-conditioning unit, on the office building opposite, which made the ill-fitting double glazing whistle throughout the night.

However, there is no air con and it was extremely hot even with the window open.

but a lack of air con and wifi in rooms means this doesn't make the mark for a business stay.

No a/c - we were informed later than a/c was available on 4th floor

The dust in the ventilation of the windows looks like it has been there for years.

There was a continuous strange smell in the bathroom and we didn't use the jacuzzi since there was no heating in the bathroom and it as quite cold.

I'd be wary of staying in hot weather as there is no air-conditioning.

Although the street in front has quite a bit of traffic, we left the balcony door ajar and did not hear any street noise during the night.

The check in was very friendly and efficient and the room was a good size with a very comfortable bed.

Front desk and bar staff were outstanding (they do double-duty and were funny, friendly, attentive, and accurate).

The dimly lit bathroom had a shower/tub combo with a little mold in the grout.

but the halls smelled of tobacco and canabis.

Carpet and curtains were old and had disgusting stains on it, furniture & decoration were mediocre, far from luxurious as advertised (specially for a Jr suite), bad quality towels and the bed too soft to our taste.

but quite noisy due to the traffic and also, at times, hotel clients who stood outside the hotel's front door directly under our window, having a smoke and a chat.

Besides, there was black mold in the bathroom.

but the clear presence of ashtrays in the rooms!?!

The minibar fridge was filthy it had stuff spilled all over it.

Slightly nasty free shower gel and shampoo - bring your own!

Due to the snow, this was specifically helpful.

Oh and if staff decides to go out for the night that is of course fine

The staff is great, specially at the reception, they will help you in whatever you need.

All staff  is great, excelent location, great premises and acommodations.

Our room was on the fourth floor which was easily accessible via the lift in the main hall next to reception.

However, when we arrived and enquired about the bedboard, it most definitely was a problem and the board couldn't be provided.

That wasn't the reason for dropping the 5th star though.

The room itself is not quite 4 stars, there were no bathrobes in there and it was quite cold when we arrived.

For a hotel that has a 4 star rating this definitely needs improvement.

And these things are unacceptable for a hotel pretending to have 4 stars, aren't they.

but once you enter the room there are things you would not expect for a 4 star hotel.

Again this seemed a little odd for a 4 star hotel.

Hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the main station and the town centre.

We did the canal tour which is a great way of seeing the old town.

Stayed at the Amarth which provided ease of access to the old town and nearby restaurants as well as the lovely forest area at the back.

All in all I thought it was one of cleanest and friendliest hotels I’ve stayed in, with great access to the old town and train station.

I was in town on business, and spent 1 night at this hotel.

This is a comfortable hotel in a pleasant town.

The hotel was ideally positioned: a few minutes' walk from the railway station and a short stroll into town.

Staying four nights on our tour through Holland we chose Amrath Hotel Alkmaar because  of its excellent location to get into the old city or to get easily to other towns nearby .

Stopped at this hotel for 3 nights, lovely views to the front of the hotel and in the right place being just out of town ( a short walk away ) Nice clean reception area with pleasant and helpful staff, check in was quick.

In a perfect position for the town and train; friendly and helpful staff; a comfortable and spacious room.

Situated 10 minute walk from Railway Station and similar into the Old Town (Centrum).

Well located on the edge of the town centre, with only a short walk to the train station too.

Only the airco was broke during our stay. Due to that we had to stay in our own room in which the ventilation was poor (we didnt book a room with a window)

though the rooms didn't have windows, they where well ventilated.

The staff were excelent, friendly and helpful, we had an issue with a really loud noise coming from te neighbouring room which turned out to be a heating problem and the sorted it out for us straight away and apologised.

However, it would have been much better with a improved ventilation into the rooms as there is no window in the room stayed.

There is neither ventilation, nor a window, while the mattresses are plastic wrapped..

though there is ventilation through a vent in the door (which I guess lets through a lot of noise as well).

But there were two very unpleasant things: 1)  Our room has no window (I guess the most rooms are without windows) and no air conditioning.

Could literally hear the conversations and later the snoring from next door.

Very noisy at night, the rooms are not clean, you can't open fully the bathroom's door because the bed is stuck against it, and the food was just awful!

Very noisy and the main door was banging every time someone came in the hostel were the rooms were.

He accompanied us back to the room then entered the room next door and did something that stopped the noise.

He came back to the room at 1am or 2am, he was talking loud and laughing to himself, made very weird sound, band the door and kick the bed.

At 09.30 they knocked on the door to clean the room.

What I got was a door that can see through and virtually zero sound proof.

My own room as on ground level with double door out onto a narrow seating area on the side of the canal.

one of my best hostel I stayed in, staff are very hospitality and friendly helped us for in every situation we had, such as find rental bike and kept in store room.

King's Inn is located at a perfect spot to discover Alkmaar.

but the first appearance of the nice bar in the entance of a centrally located building seemed so convincing that we got trapped for one night.

I was now the 2nd Time in the King's Inn and i would Stay there further times because of the nice staff and the nice Location between Amsterdam and the beach.

Super location, simple/clean budget rooms in the hostel for families, good value hotel room options as well.

Consedering the price, it has nice acomodations, it is very clean, the people in charge are nice, and it is very well located in Alkmaar, in the center of the city and near the grand plaza central of Alkmaar, where all the real fun is!

Market place is about 200 m from this Hotel.

It's in a great location just around the corner from the cheese market.

Short walking distance to Alkmaar Cheese market and restaurants.

You are literally a one minute walk to the Friday morning Cheese Market.

Walking distance to the cheese market square, church and red light street.

Cheese market is on Friday 10-12 noon and is full of amazing stalls with lots more than just cheese.

This hostel is well-located in the city center of Alkmaar (which is not very big by the way), on a walking distance to the cheese market and the bars/restaurants/shops.

The location is good as it is very close to Makt for cheese market and 10 mins walk from train station (withoit luggage).

I will return for lunch in the restaurant after the cheese market.

but unfortunately very noisy in the hotel so difficult to sleep in the late evening.

Also sounds from outside were pretty loud in the room.

Less noise in the morning people speak loud.

He assured us that the noise would not return

In the night it was very noisy a lot of people near our room.

A rather special experience after travelling hostels in the whole world is staying in a room without windows and with stuff shouting You out of the room late after midnight!

Unfortunately all rooms lead away from a big hall and if there are people sitting there and talking you hear every word, so don’t forget to pack in your ear plugs!

but there was a sound coming from the hallway and there wasn’t anything to hang our clothes in the room.

However good get noisy , if you have one of the rooms in the ground floor.

The room was not so “sound-proof”, so our noisy neighbors and rain over the roof made it difficult to sleep.

but the thing is the hostel part is not really soundproofed.

Alkmaar is a fantastic city with many historical and cultural high spots as well as a great football team.

Staff was very nice and helpful.The breakfast was delicious and later than normal.

but still the staff is awesome and makes it all good.

For me a hostel has to be clean, friendly and welcoming.

It was a pretty stay there ,for the reception was attent, the welcome drink and surprise were very goor.

Staff made sure we had an excellent stay and took care of everything we could wish for and more.

We had indoor  bike storage and great fun hiring a pedalo from the hostel to go on the water for an hour - there is even a bell on the canal to ring for an ice cream which the kids loved.

The hotel staff were beyond expectation since they waited for us for 1,5 hours after check in time.

- Being treated like a king and the lovely Ladies at the reception want me to come back for more :D
- For me the only place to go when I am in Alkmaar.

We have stayed in the hostel and the rooms have no windows.

We stayed in a very warm period, and there was no windows in the room, and the walls was very thin so everything happening outside the room could be heard inside.

The room was dark, with inside window to the corridor.

Filth in room,filth in bathroom,bad wifi signal,no windows in room in one word bad in everyway,the girl who works at the front desk was very rude when we were checking out and when I criticized the cleanliness of the rooms.

It seemed to be run by a team of young women who always seemed to be working if it wasn't hovering they were cleaning windows or dusting.

Yes, the walls of the rooms are thin indeed, and I can also confirm that there are no windows in the room,

Great breakfast with lots of choice (even manages to keep the Brits happy with bacon and eggs available!

Made use of the breakfast option and found the food and the variety of options great.

We had breakfast during our stay and it was very good, with the usual selection of fruits and cereals, cold meats and cheeses, breads, pastries etc augmented by bacon and eggs.

Sleeping quality OK, breakfast €12,50 p.p.

Also spa/ gym on site and a buffet restaurant next door, close to town and on public transport routes.

The breakfast was adequate and all ingredients were fresh and tasty.

The restaurant and breakfast area are both fine, good food, breakfast is rather standard.

but charging for 2 times breakfast which wasn`t included in the basic price and obviously never utilized, is simply greedy.

but they do not take cash, you must use a card.

Very lovely until this: you have to wait 15 business days until you have your guarantee money blocked on your credit card back.

even though the hotel knew I had paid in full they still took money from my account without notifying me, when the hotel refunded the money I didn’t get the full amount back due to transaction charges, the hotel have said even though it was their mistake it’s not their problem that I'm out of pocket.

We liked the friendly staff and free parking.

A very pleasant hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful.
