Also four star hotel without airco or even a fan… mediocre breakfast with way too few places to sit.

Not really happy:
Booked a suite for one week and air conditioning was broken.

Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and the temperatures were hitting 1~2 degree celcius, and the river infront of the hotel was frozen during the second day of my stay..

but no airco, and expensive parking (per day €15,-).

I was given a room exactly opposite a noisy air-conditioning unit, on the office building opposite, which made the ill-fitting double glazing whistle throughout the night.

However, there is no air con and it was extremely hot even with the window open.

but a lack of air con and wifi in rooms means this doesn't make the mark for a business stay.

No a/c - we were informed later than a/c was available on 4th floor

The dust in the ventilation of the windows looks like it has been there for years.

There was a continuous strange smell in the bathroom and we didn't use the jacuzzi since there was no heating in the bathroom and it as quite cold.

I'd be wary of staying in hot weather as there is no air-conditioning.

Although the street in front has quite a bit of traffic, we left the balcony door ajar and did not hear any street noise during the night.

The check in was very friendly and efficient and the room was a good size with a very comfortable bed.

Friendly staff both at reception and breakfast.

The dimly lit bathroom had a shower/tub combo with a little mold in the grout.

but the halls smelled of tobacco and canabis.

Carpet and curtains were old and had disgusting stains on it, furniture & decoration were mediocre, far from luxurious as advertised (specially for a Jr suite), bad quality towels and the bed too soft to our taste.

but quite noisy due to the traffic and also, at times, hotel clients who stood outside the hotel's front door directly under our window, having a smoke and a chat.

Besides, there was black mold in the bathroom.

but the clear presence of ashtrays in the rooms!?!

The minibar fridge was filthy it had stuff spilled all over it.

Slightly nasty free shower gel and shampoo - bring your own!

Due to the snow, this was specifically helpful.

Oh and if staff decides to go out for the night that is of course fine

The staff is great, specially at the reception, they will help you in whatever you need.

All staff  is great, excelent location, great premises and acommodations.

Our room was on the fourth floor which was easily accessible via the lift in the main hall next to reception.

However, when we arrived and enquired about the bedboard, it most definitely was a problem and the board couldn't be provided.

As always, a great welcome, the staff are all very helpful and pleasant.Very comfortable bed.

Liked the staff who were always available and it made a good change to be in a reasonably small hotel while away.

We found the staff to be helpful and pleasant.

That wasn't the reason for dropping the 5th star though.

The room itself is not quite 4 stars, there were no bathrobes in there and it was quite cold when we arrived.

For a hotel that has a 4 star rating this definitely needs improvement.

And these things are unacceptable for a hotel pretending to have 4 stars, aren't they.

but once you enter the room there are things you would not expect for a 4 star hotel.

Again this seemed a little odd for a 4 star hotel.

Hallways – in spite of many directional signs feels like a labyrinth - reception very friendly.

The restaurant was very nice, fast service friendly staff.

Could be more environmentally friendly though!

Reception staff  are friendly and professional.

rooms as such (except crappy issolation) were good and nicely decorated, bar was nice and reception staff during daytime hours super friendly. .

but the bar personnel was arrogant and not friendly at all.

Also the waitresses were very friendly and professional, which gave an extra boost to our pleasant meeting.

Stayed in Akersloot for 2days to catch up with 86yr old Aunt and friends for dinner.Had school girlfriend there as well Friends for 64 yrs.So se decided to have meal there being central for everyone to come and catch up.We live in NZ and on way to Dubai.Hotel great staff very friendly which is really nice.Aunt has been coming here for years so great.Food was lovely bfast great

First impression at the reception is good, friendly staff.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating.

Service was just about friendly enough not to warrant major complaints.

This is mainly about the restaurant.We went for lunch ,we found so many exiting dishes on the menu we found it hard to make a choice.The waiting staff was friendly the service was efficient and both the food and beverages were great .also complimentary salad bar.I do recommend the restaurant it also has a good feel about it

Spacious rooms, large bathroom, good restaurant, friendly staff.

The room cleaning was poor, the wet towels were crumpled on top of the heather.

Its like someone is moving when they are cleaning the rooms upstairs and “living” in the room or using the bubble bad are also things you can hear.

Stains on the carpets , bathroom not cleaned properly.

Just the cleaning left room for improvement.

However, they eventually agreed to arrange for it to be cleaned.

is that the cleaning lady was knocking at our door at 9 in the morning

the maid just left them on the dresser when she came in next morning to make the beds!

Secondly housekeeping was a litlle bit sloppy.

Bad points: The room had not been properly cleaned.

Housekeeping left the used paper coffee cups as well as the half used coffee 
supplies   Long lines at reception with undereducated staff make the slightest question intolerable.

but no one has changed the clocks in the rooms (on the coded TV, so not even possible for me to change); some room TVs have BBC, but others don't; the beautiful shower (and it is), but with taps and controls that can't be used with wet hands; the shower tray that is a grid and everything falls through it; the lack of a housekeeper to check rooms (although mostly the cleaning staff do a reasonable job).

I pointed out that we had booked breakfast as part of our deal and produced a hard copy of the booking.I could hear my friend getting the same treatment from the receptionist booking him in alongside us.

After he went with me and heard the deafening sound, to be fair, he stepped up to the plate and noise went down: night was ruined nonetheless: not a minute of sleep, and that was what I hoped to be receiving. .

it's possible to hear the one or the other aircraft at night . .

But sitting in the hot tub at the pool, I spoke to this nice lady who came there with a welness package and having about 25 kids and 2 teachers its not really peace and quiet that you're getting.

although the conference room is a bit noisy.

Hotel itself has a pretty busy (noisy) lobby/lounge area which also served as restaurant when i stayed.

We also reported a broken showerhose in the steam-cabin and a rather annoying noise from the electric fireplace (a squeaking roll I suppose).

If you decide to stay at this place, insist not to stay on the ground floor cause everyone else will pass and make noise near your room while walking to the elevator (or trying to find the right one).

Being over the flight path also can make for a noisy night.

Through the thin  walls I could hear the conversation ,coughing and snoring of the next door guests.

You have to hope that you have no noisy neighbours, or party people in the corridors.

The only very bad point was that I was in room 254 and this was on the side of the highway and Schiphol departure, very noisy and absolutely inefficient double glasses, a lot of noise, awaken at 05.15h in the morning !

In the middle of the night lot of noise by people on the hallway or outside.

Located in the countryside west of Amsterdam, this would almost qualify as a rural retreat, except for the constant aircraft noise and proximity to the motorway.

The suite was filthy there was dust everywhere, on the glasses on the coffee machine on the taps where there were also dirty smudges everywhere, on entering there were flies flying in the room and the floor was also filthy.

Could smell the cigaretts when we entered the room , after a few hours with open window it was gone.

Our deck was littered -complete with used/dirty ashtray and the half glass partitions render it unusable for non smokers.

The smell inside the room was not to pleasant on arrival.

Smell of paint was irritating and uncomfortable.

but:
The full ashtray in the balcony,was not clean from the check-in day to the last day.

Rooms really far away from main reception which was an issue for someone with a clear temporary disability.

My husband later called reception to confirm we were indeed leaving the next day.

Would like to give a special thanks to the conference team especially Monique & Toine & colleagues.

Young people working at the reception and in the restaurant, good service.

Everything is very clean and the staff, especially in the restaurant, is really kind and helpful.

The breakfast was really good and the staff were attentive.

Lot of possibilities if you ask and they are always helpfull with everything we ask for.

i gave this hotel 1 star extra because of the personal and as always the people from the front desk execute there jobs really great.

Half way through eating, infront of all the other guests they asked me to pay at the reception.

The obvious reasons are that the facility is very well equipped and maintained, and the staff is always professional, courteous and knowledgeable.

The restaurant staff in the evening was alright,

Nothing happened so we approached reception again the next evening.

Service was great, with staff coming to clear your table and ensuring that you had drinks at all times.

Could literally hear the conversations and later the snoring from next door.

Very noisy at night, the rooms are not clean, you can't open fully the bathroom's door because the bed is stuck against it, and the food was just awful!

Very noisy and the main door was banging every time someone came in the hostel were the rooms were.

He accompanied us back to the room then entered the room next door and did something that stopped the noise.

He came back to the room at 1am or 2am, he was talking loud and laughing to himself, made very weird sound, band the door and kick the bed.

At 09.30 they knocked on the door to clean the room.

What I got was a door that can see through and virtually zero sound proof.

My own room as on ground level with double door out onto a narrow seating area on the side of the canal.

though there is ventilation through a vent in the door (which I guess lets through a lot of noise as well).

Stay with friends for a night great hostel with high standard of cleanliness very central location in Alkmaar walking distance to the city attractions, staff friendly and breakfast served was delicious, good selection of drinks in the bar

one of my best hostel I stayed in, staff are very hospitality and friendly helped us for in every situation we had, such as find rental bike and kept in store room.

The staff are very lovely and friendly, and they couldn't have been more helpful during our stay.

We had a delicious diner and breakfast and the people were very  friendly and helpfull.

although we had to make request about some stuff and they being delivered quite late, the staff are friendly and welcoming.

The staff were friendly and efficient - the rooms were fine, being set around a public area (we already know they would be windowless).

Less noise in the morning people speak loud.

but as soon as we got into bed the noise started again, just as loud.

The staff were excelent, friendly and helpful, we had an issue with a really loud noise coming from te neighbouring room which turned out to be a heating problem and the sorted it out for us straight away and apologised.

Too loud while i was sleeping in the room.

It was a Saturday night and there was a party organised in the hostel bar.

Unfortunatelly that night we stayed there, there was a very noisy party in the bar till for sure 1.30 am.

In the night it was very noisy a lot of people near our room.

A rather special experience after travelling hostels in the whole world is staying in a room without windows and with stuff shouting You out of the room late after midnight!

but there was a sound coming from the hallway and there wasn’t anything to hang our clothes in the room.

However good get noisy , if you have one of the rooms in the ground floor.

The room was not so “sound-proof”, so our noisy neighbors and rain over the roof made it difficult to sleep.

but the thing is the hostel part is not really soundproofed.

but the music was so noisy that it was impossible.

Alkmaar is a fantastic city with many historical and cultural high spots as well as a great football team.

good service, kindly personnel, good and various breakfast, very good located, good parking facilities in the neighborhood,

Staff was very nice and helpful.The breakfast was delicious and later than normal.

but still the staff is awesome and makes it all good.

For me a hostel has to be clean, friendly and welcoming.

It was a pretty stay there ,for the reception was attent, the welcome drink and surprise were very goor.

Staff made sure we had an excellent stay and took care of everything we could wish for and more.

We had indoor  bike storage and great fun hiring a pedalo from the hostel to go on the water for an hour - there is even a bell on the canal to ring for an ice cream which the kids loved.

The hotel staff were beyond expectation since they waited for us for 1,5 hours after check in time.

- Being treated like a king and the lovely Ladies at the reception want me to come back for more :D
- For me the only place to go when I am in Alkmaar.

Only the airco was broke during our stay. Due to that we had to stay in our own room in which the ventilation was poor (we didnt book a room with a window)

though the rooms didn't have windows, they where well ventilated.

but only a window to such an inner shaft.

We have stayed in the hostel and the rooms have no windows.

We stayed in a very warm period, and there was no windows in the room, and the walls was very thin so everything happening outside the room could be heard inside.

The room was dark, with inside window to the corridor.

However, it would have been much better with a improved ventilation into the rooms as there is no window in the room stayed.

There is neither ventilation, nor a window, while the mattresses are plastic wrapped..

Filth in room,filth in bathroom,bad wifi signal,no windows in room in one word bad in everyway,the girl who works at the front desk was very rude when we were checking out and when I criticized the cleanliness of the rooms.

It seemed to be run by a team of young women who always seemed to be working if it wasn't hovering they were cleaning windows or dusting.

Yes, the walls of the rooms are thin indeed, and I can also confirm that there are no windows in the room,

But there were two very unpleasant things: 1)  Our room has no window (I guess the most rooms are without windows) and no air conditioning.

The bathroom was very small, too small as it was hard to use a towel after the shower, also the closet hanging space was very small.

No coffee or tea making equipment, no extra shampoos and I couldn't work out if the walls were plastered awaiting painting or the dull brown color was the way they were meant to be.

When showering, the entire floor gets wet.

The bathroom could be a little more clean and all fittings should be de-calcified.

However, too little boards to put things on in the bathroom and only two little hooks for the towels.

There are rooms with only a shower and rooms with bath and shower.

but I had asked for the room early because I had just flown over night from the U.S. and wanted to be able to rest a bit and shower before my meeting which started well before the official check in time.

but does the job and the bathroom looked like someone had just plastered it and decided that was that.
